Libros / Books: 'Calling Romeo' by Alexandra Potter

Yeah, new section at the blog. Here's the first installment, with a review of my last read.

Reseña del libro / Book Review: Calling Romeo' by Alexandra Potter.

If she’s Juliet, then where the hell is Romeo?

Juliet and Will are in a rut. After two years of living together the romance has fizzled out and been replaced by piles of dishes, dirty laundry and evenings spent slobbing in front of the TV. Things go from bad to worse when Will stands her up on Valentine’s Day.

So when she meets a sexy Italian called Sykes, who works at a rival advertising agency, and offers to whisk her away to Verona for a romantic weekend, she can’t help wondering if this is her very own Romeo…

Me costó 9,95 €.
I bought this book at Tegel airport in Berlin, at one of those airport shops that have a little bit of everything -though NOT at the micro duty-free, a minuscule stall in the middle of the departures lounge/waiting room. It was € 9.95.
I like to bring home at least one book in English from my trips. Unfortunately the selection at the Bon Voyage shop was rather poor: some of them I'd already read, I'm really not into the vampire-craze thing, so I grabbed this chick-lit among other titles from the same author. I have been doing some searching and apparently, this one is not available in Spanish yet, though you'll probably find it sooner or later.
The book has 365 pages and is an easy read. The story is told by both Juliet and Will in turns, which is not very frequent, or at least in other chick-lits I've read you only have the heroin's take on the story. I think this makes it stand out a bit from others in this genre.
All in all, some of the issues presented in the story are solved in a rather predictable way, whereas others benefit from 'too much coincidence' imo. It's not difficult to warm to the characters: they all have problems at work, in their love-life, are in a rut... like many of us.
It has some funny moments and other quite serious ones, about making the right or wrong decision that may change your life for ever.
If I had to grade this, which I always find difficult, I'd probably give this one an 8/10.
¿Habéis leído algo de esta autora? ¿Me recomendaríais alguno de este tipo?
Have you read anything by this author? Do you have any other chick-lits to recommend?

@Sarahlouise: If you like a bit of 'chick-lit' from time to time, check out Sophie Kinsella. Apart from 'Shopaholic', I enjoyed 'Can you keep a secret' very much. That was a 10/10 for me.
