UDLS / NOTW: Essence #122 'Chic Reloaded'

¡Hola bellezas!

Hi, my beauties!

It's been almost a lifetime since I last posted a mani, basically because though I'm only working part-time, I seldom have enough time to do it.

Anyway, with this blog I'll be also killing two birds in one stone, since I get to show you what one of my latest Essence purchases looks like on the nails. I bought this during the latest Essence clearance and I'm sure you got a little something as well.

The 'Chic Reloaded' nail lacquer is a duochrome polish which is well pigmented and applies beautifully, as is usually the norm with Essence polishes. I know the brand has as much lovers as it has haters. As for myself, I tend to prefer the ones in the permanent range to the limited edition ones, as I feel the formula and brush are better quality.

In the pictures, I have a coat of the Essence peel-off base coat -which was sadly discontinued some time ago. I decided to use it for this mani since dark polishes, esp. those with a blue base tend to stain my nails when removing it with acetone or acetone-free removers. This base has to dry for about 10 minutes longer before you can apply the colour. Wait until the white base becomes completely transparent to do so.
I then applied a generous coat of this varnish and some minutes later, the 'Better than gel nails' Essence topcoat, which at this rate I will be soon running out of. My only criticism of this product has to do with the fact that the dark bottle makes it impossible to know for sure how little or much is left.
As for using the peel off base, note that manis may have a shorter lifespan with it. In my case, my right hand nails showed the first signs of damage after two days, whereas the nails on my left were in mint condition by the time I 'peeled off' the polish.

Am I right and you also bought something from the latest Essence clearance sale?
