Nuestras compras de otras marcas en Berlín - Our other brands Berlin haul.

Hi again,

If I'm not wrong, this is my last post about makeup-purchases in Berlin. First of all, we introduced you our Catrice nailpolishes; there were so many that they deserved a separate post.
After that, we showed you all our purchases, by brand. And I have left the things you're about to see for the end, because they were all from different brands, and I didn't want to make umpteen entries.

I'll start with the Catrice lipstick. It's the shade '120 Creamy Brown' and was only € 1.45, because the entire range was going to be discontinued. Another example of my love for buying stuff in similar colours to what I already own. When I made the swatches of this lipstick and the P2 one, I realized that they were really alike, though this one is probably a little bit more reddish than the other. Anyway, I don't regret getting it because I like these colours very much.

The Manhattan nailpolish (€1.83) is the shade 68A, and is difficult to describe. In the picture it appears to be a very light grey, but when you look closer and when you turn the bottle you can notice a lot of gorgeous violet reflections. It's quite sheer so I'll probably use it on top of another polish, for layering.

I also bought the liquid concealer from Alterra (€2.49), in the shade '02 Light'. When I tried the tester at the store, it seemed to me that it was sheer, but since I don't have so many undereye circles, I put it into the basket.

And finally, the ultra-recommended (by Subflava) eyeshadow base from Rival de Loop Young (€1.99), with a fingerprint from some German female inside, but it was the last one left on the display, so I had no other choice.
I tried my sister's one, and it's every bit as good as the ArtDeco eyeshadow base.

That was all that was left to show regarding my Berlin purchases. I'll let you know more about them when I try them out.

BB Cream Missha Perfect Cover no. 21

In this new post I'll reveal the mistery behind the origin of the box I decorated to give the polishes I have here with me at my sister's a worthy home.

It's the box that held my last Ebay order. Hint: Seller's name is Bellogirl. Can you guess? Yeah, I ordered a couple of BB Creams for both myself and my sis.

If you don't mind I'll only give you my first impressions and leave my sister share what she thinks of hers herself. We ordered different ones since we don't have the same skin type (Me: Combination/ Her: Oily Skin)

Mine is the famous Missha Perfect Cover in the shade no. 21. I ordered the largest size available, containing 50 ml and paid $16.99 (circa €11,73) for it – with free shipping. Payment was made on March 24th and they arrived on April 1st. Superfast, considering these babies come from the other side of the world, South Korea to be exact. Besides, the parcel was sent by registered mail so I had to sign for it to the postman, who's got used to it. My sister's postman is very compliant so to speak and always buzzes us and tells us from the entryphone when we have any mail bigger than our mailbox and even brings it up to us. I've already told my sis that he definitely deserves something for Christmas, a box of chocolates or something.

The postwoman at my parents' leaves a 'Sorry you were out' calling card. 'Out' my a**. We're usually the ones who buzz her in when she comes and she makes us have to stand in line at the Post Office as when at the Fishmonger's. In short, my sister's postman is saving us lots of trips to the Post Office so if yours do their job, treat them right.. ;)

After having a look at several reviews online, I decided to play it safe and order this one, which seems to be the most popular BB Cream and also ordered this shade as I have pretty light skin. Right after application, I got the impression that it was going to be too light for me because I looked really 'ghostly white', but I got the feeling this is due to the SPF and the time they need to be absorbed by the skin. A few minutes later, it matched my skintone to perfection. Coverage is very good, some opinions refer to this as 'medium coverage' but I'd go a little bit further and say 'medium-high' or at least it is in my skin. I'm using this after my moisturiser as a foundation and the result is extremely natural.

People generally suggest setting this BB Cream with powder and that's what I've done most times. I usually don't get oily spots in my T-zone or if it does, in what I consider normal and acceptable considering the weather and the time I've been wearing it for.

The first time I tried this I did so at the back of my right hand. The difference in colour -darker than the rest- gave me the shivers and had me thinking 'Oh, Lord!' but like I said when applied onto my face it blended really well.

One of the strong points of BB creams pointed out by everyone is how well they disguise imperfections and I strongly agree. I have a scratch mark in my hand from Molly the cat and the truth is you could barely see it or at least was a lot less vivid. I did the same for the photographs yesterday, so the first one you see is my naked hand and the second ten minutes after putting on my Missha Perfect Cover.

The seller included a couple of samples we haven't used yet -some of them we're not all quite sure what they're for. ;)

¿Habéis probado alguna de estas cremas? / Have you tried any BB Creams?

Hi, beautiful girls,
Today I'm showing you my Essence purchases in Berlin.
You will probably think that there's no need to go to Germany to buy Essence, as there are many stores all around Spain. OK, you're right, but once there, if we could get all that Essence stuff at German prices, so much the better. Besides, as we don't have an Essence body care display here yet (in a couple of hours we're going downtown to Bustillo -the store that sells Essence here); wish the miracle has happened. How exciting!), it was the right time to get some things.

I bought the following things: the stampy set, the two stampy nail polishes, another plate (I fell in love with the designs on it), the 'Underwater' nailpolish (about to be discontinued if I'm right), the '22 Blockbuster' eyeshadow, which I'm going to use to highlight the browbone (when the one in the LE 'Secrets of the Past' trio eyeshadow has run out), and the 'My Skin' facial cream for normal/combination skin.

What have I used of all these things? Actually I haven't used anything yet. Incredible, isn't it? I've tried stamping only a few times, but I used my sister's set. It seemed sooo difficult at first, because the polish got dried at once, but I think I'm doing better now.

Well, I leave you by now. I'll tell you if we have the body care display at last. If it has come, it will surely deserve a post.

Beautik, the new chain of cosmetics dealers that is rapidly expanding throughout Spain, is opening a new store in Salamanca, that is to say, an hour away from my home town. Beautik is one of the few -if not the only one- places selling Nyx, Catrice, Sally Hansen and Sinful Colours here.
Expect a summer trip there with some 'hauling'. We can even get the bus, because the words 'Salamanca city centre' 'parking' and 'summer' seldom go together in the same sentence. Yipeee!!! We'll have to go there around the opening date, so all the displays are well stocked and ready to be raided rather than raided already.
The new store will open in early July according to their blog and will be situated in Calle Zamora, near the Calle del Arco -in the heart of Salamanca-. I think there's an H&M store in the same street or in Calle Toro - I tend to confuse them- that sells cosmetics, one that I've never been able to explore calmly whenever we go there. I'll try to upload a street map caption with the estimated location.
It's not fair that all good stores in the region always end up in Salamanca, they have Kiko, a new and huge El Corte Inglés Department Store with a cosmetics aisle to die for... And yet they have the nerve to complain that Valladolid, the capital of the Castille-Leon region gets it all. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

Edit: I add a link with the street map and a cropped image of the estimated location in detail (Thank Marian, not me; I'm not capable of such advanced editing!!).

¿Alguna recomendación para la 'wishlist Beautik'?
Any suggestions for the 'Beautik wishlist'?

Nuestras compras de Alverde en Berlín - Our Alverde Haul in Berlin

Hola, chicas.

Hi, girls. How are you?

Today I'm showing you our Alverde Haul in Berlin.
Alverde is a natural cosmetics brand, with a wide range of products, and obscenely cheap. I guess my sister has already told you that they're sold at DM drugstores in Germany.

Since I started reading Salander's blog posts about these products, I felt the need to purchase some of them as soon as I could, so I bought the ones you can see on this pic.

For my face I bought myself the mattifying moisturiser I'm using right now and it works really well. At first the texture surprised me, as I expected a gel-like consistency rather than a creamy one and thought it would not fulfill its target, but I was wrong. Despite its texture, it's absorbed at once and mattifies my skin.
I also bought the eye contour cream, but I haven't used it yet, because I'm still using Yves Rocher's one (I hope it will finish up soon), which I don't like at all, because it has some kind of pearly blue reflections that make the rings under the eyes really eye-catching (that's why I use it only at night).

Tampoco lo he empezado.

Let's go now with makeup. I bought the blush 'Flamingo' (Oh, my God! I love how it smells), which I have already used and I love it. It's the least chalky blusher I've ever tried. It gives a very healthy colour to the face. I apply it with the KIKO stippling brush I already showed you on another post.
After having read about the excellent qualities of mineral makeup, I wanted to try it, so I bought this one, in '02 Natural'. I haven't tried it yet, but as it's said to be very good for the summertime, because it absorbs skin oil, I will wait until then to use it.
And the last thing, the gel eyeliner. As Essence new features were not available in Berlin yet when we were there, I opted for this one. I haven't used it yet. Besides, I don't know what kind of brush would be best to apply this kind of product, so I'm open to suggestions.

Oh! I almost forget! I also bought (well, actually, We bought) some body care stuff. Alverde body butter, (normal and travel size), that I'm showing you now.

In this post you can also see the purchases my sister did. There was only one thing my sister bought but I didn't, and it was this eyeshadow brush. Apart from that, she purchased the two sizes of Alverde's body butter and the eye contour cream as well.

Bueno, esto ha sido todo por ahora. Ya me diréis qué os parece.

Well, this has been all for now. Let me know what you think.

We're back today with some DIY, recycling a small cardboard box you can use to keep your nailpolishes, for instance. At least, that's what I'm using mine for.

You'll need:

A small cardboard box *I'll reveal in a different entry where I got mine from*

Some wrapping paper clippings

Scotch tape

Scissors

Optional: Ruler and pencil

There's no need to buy anything. If you don't have any wrapping paper you could use some glossy paper from old magazines.

You're going to need enough paper to cover the entire box, both inside and out. I decided not to remove the side flaps in my box so as to give it a little bit of 'body' and make it sturdier.

Transforming some box you already have lying there at home will only take about ten minutes of your time and it's a good way of finally finding some use for all those little gift wrap scraps that are too small to use on their own but don't have the heart to throw away. Besides, everything's expensive today and I'm sure you'll enjoy creating something with your own hands rather than just buy it.

Have you done any DIY to store your make-up? We'd love to check it out if you have.
