Hello again!

Here we are again ready to share with you our thoughts on the products we've used up lately.

1- Jabón artesano de nogal: Desde que probamos los jabones sólidos no hemos vuelto a usar geles para la ducha, salvo, obviamente, si vamos a la piscina (por ejemplo). Lo compramos en un puesto en una feria de artesanía el año pasado. Hace mucha espuma y no tiene apenas olor.
Este jabón en concreto está especialmente indicado para problemas dérmicos como psoriasis, dermatitis atópica, dermatitis seborreica, eczemas y hongos. Está bien, aunque no hemos notado nada especial.

1- Walnut tree handcrafted soap: Ever since we tried solid soaps, we've sticked to them except for when going to the pool, for instance. We bought this at a stall in a local craft fair last year. It lathers quite well and does not have a noticeable scent to it.
This soap in particular is specially indicated for skin problems, such as psoriasis, atopic and seborrheic dermatitis, eczema or skin infections caused by fungi. It is nice, but we didn't really see any improvement.

2- Colonia Yves Rocher de Frambuesa: Pertenece a la línea Plaisirs Nature y cuesta unos siete euros y trae 100 ml. Ahora en verano nos gusta usar colonias más fresquitas y los aromas frutales de este tipo de productos nos gustan mucho. Esta gama de productos quedan fuera de las promociones habituales de la tienda, pero no son demasiado caros.

2- Raspberry-scented cologne from Yves Rocher: It is part of the Plaisirs Nature range and costs around seven euros for 100ml. We prefer to use lighter perfumes in summer and fruity scents are usually our go-to products. This line is excluded from the store's frequent discounts and promotions, but they're not too pricey anyway.

3-Toallitas desmaquillantes piel sensible DIA (sobre todo marox): Están disponibles en versión para piel normal y piel sensible, que son las que utilizo. Las he comprado ya varias veces y están muy bien como primer paso en nuestra rutina de limpieza facial, para retirar la mayor parte del maquillaje. Las suelo complementar con otros productos, ya sean jabones o lociones desmaquillantes. Me gustan porque trae 30 toallitas y el cierre funciona bien, lo que impide que se sequen. Las nuevas vienen en un paquete un poco diferente. Precio: 1,25€ en supermercados DIA. Están fabricadas en Israel y están dermatológica y oftalmológicamente testadas. Contienen vitamina E y té verde.




3-Makeup Remover Wipes for sensitive skin from DIA (marox mainly): These are available in two versions, one for normal skin and sensitive skin, which are the ones I use. I've repurchased these several times and are quite nice as a first step in your skin cleansing ritual, removing the bulk of your makeup. I always team this with other products, either soaps or makeup remover lotions. I like these because they contain 30 wipes and the snap works great, effectively preventing the wipes from drying out. The new ones come in a slightly different package. Price: 1.25 EUR and are available from DIA Supermarkets. They're made in Israel and are dermathologically and opthamologically tested. They contain Vitamin E and Green Tea.

4- Exfoliante Yves Rocher 'Tradition de Hammam': Hemos gastado ya bastantes, aprovechando para comprarlos con alguna de las promociones de la marca. El precio normal es de más de 20 euros. No tiene un gránulo demasiado grueso pero sí que es efectivo e hidratante a la vez, gracias a los aceites que contiene. Ha sido uno de nuestros favoritos, aunque descansaremos una temporada y usaremos otro que tenemos a medias y el de Obey Your Body que os enseñamos *aquí*. ¿Tenéis algún "ranking" de exfoliantes corporales favoritos? Nos encantaría que los compartiérais con nosotras. Para marox, el número 1 imbatido hasta el momento es el de aromaterapia de Kiotis de Stanhome que podéis ver *aquí*.




4- Yves Rocher 'Tradition de Hammam *UK/US*' Body Scrub: We've used up several of these and have repurchased them only if we could benefit from any of the company's frequent discounts and promotions. Otherwise, retail price is more than €20. The scrub particles are not too big but they're effective and the product nourishes the skin at the same time, thanks to the different oils it contains. Has been a long time favourite, but we'll be taking a break from it and use another we've halfway used up and the Obey Your Body we told you about in *this* blog. What are your favourite body scrubs? For marox, top of the list and a tough one to beat is the Aromatherapy one from Kiotis by Stanhome that you can see *here*.

5- Lima de vidrio Claire's (marox): Esta fue mi primera lima de vidrio. Menos mal que luego probé la de KIKO, porque de lo contrario, habría pensado que no eran para tanto. Aunque el grano es finito, se desgasta tan rápidamente que vas dejando zonas de la lima completamente inutilizables al poco tiempo. De precio (3,50€), por aquel entonces era de las más baratas que había. Compré otra y también le ha pasado lo mismo, así que NO las recomiendo. Recuerdo que cuando estuvimos en la República Checa las había superbaratas y las había también en tamaño mini. Luego me arrepentí de no haber comprado ninguna, aunque fuera para probar.

5- Claire's Glass Nail File (marox): This was my first glass nail file. It's just as well I later tried the KIKO ones, because otherwise I'd have thought these files weren't worth the hype. The grain is fine, though unfortunately the wear is so quick you end up with useless patches throughout the file in no time. In terms of price, it was one of the cheapest ones available at the time, for 3.50 EUR. I bought another one of these and experienced exactly the same issue, so I definitely WON'T repurchase again. I remember seeing these glass files everywhere when we went to the Czech Republic for the summer holidays a few years ago. They were very inexpensive and they also had them in a pocket size. I later regretted not getting any of those instead.

Casi he perdido la práctica de escribir entradas, pero ya no me queda archivo del que tirar, y además, tengo varios días libres por delante que me permitirán ponerme al día con el blog.

I almost forget how to write a post, but I have no more vault posts to retrieve; besides, I have some days off which will allow me to update the blog.

Llevaba ya un tiempo queriendo hacerme una manicura degradada. Me gustan tanto cuando las veo en los blogs..., así que un día me lié la manta a la cabeza.
Busqué dos esmaltes en la misma gama de color: uno claro y otro oscuro, y después de ver un par de tutoriales sobre el tema, me puse a ello.

I was very eager to make a gradient mani of my own for quite a while. I love them so much when I see them on other blogs..., so one day I finally took the plunge.

I looked for two polishes within the same colour range: a light and a dark one, and after watching some tutorials on this subject, I began to work on it.




Comenzamos ya con el diario de esta manicura:

El primer día, apliqué una capa del Nail Sealer de Essence (que uso cuando me pongo esmaltes claros, por alternarlo un poco con el Nail Envy de OPI). Después apliqué un par de capas finas del esmalte de Essence "Bloom-a-loom", y lo dejé secar. Esta vez no aplico Seche Vite... de momento.

So let's start with the diary of this mani:

The first day, I applied a coat of Nail Sealer from Essence (which I use when I paint my nails with light polishes, to alternate it with Nail Envy from OPI). After that, I applied two thin coats of the Essence polish 'Bloom-a-loom', and I let it dry. This time I don't apply Seche Vite... at the moment.

El segundo día, después de venir de trabajar, ya tengo pequeños desconchones, sobre todo en los dedos índice y medio de la mano derecha. Así que antes de que la manicura se eche a perder sin terminarla, me pongo manos a la obra.

The second day, after coming back home from work, I have small chippings, mainly on my right index and middle fingers. So before this mani gets ruined for good without having given it the final touch, I got down to work.

Cojo un trozo de plástico, en el que echo 2 gotas de los esmaltes en cuestión (una gota del "Bloom-a-loom" de Essence, y justo al lado, otra del "esmaltemoradodeClaire's"). Ahora, con un palillo, remuevo un poco en la zona donde se juntan las gotas para mezclar los colores. Con un trozo de esponjita, la humedezco en la mezcla de esmaltes y voy dando pequeños toquecitos en la parte inferior de la uña, vigilando que también se impregnen de esta mezcla los laterales de las uñas. Se mancharán los dedos, pero después arreglaremos esto.
Esperamos que seque un poco, y pasamos un bastoncillo impregnado en quitaesmalte por aquellas zonas de los dedos que nos hemos manchado. Afortunadamente, no me manché demasiado, por lo que pude (o mejor dicho, marox pudo) quitarme las manchas fácilmente.

I take a piece of plastic, and I put two drops of these polishes (a drop of the Essence one, and right beside it, another one of the 'purplepolishfromClaire's'). Now I mix where the two drops 'touch' each other with a toothpick, to mix the colours. Then I pick a bit of this mix with a small sponge and apply it by just patting on the lower part of the nail, watching that both sides of the nail get painted as well. Your fingers will surely get stained, but we'll fix this later.

Let it dry for a while, and clean the 'dirty' areas of the fingers with a q-tip soaked in nail polish remover. Fortunately, my fingers didn't get too dirty; that's why I could (well, actually marox did it, to be honest) clean all the stains easily.

Ahora aplico una capa de Seche Vite, y ya está lista la manicura. Como veis, es un degradado muy suave.

Now I apply a coat of Seche Vite, and this mani is ready to go. As you can see, it's a very soft gradient.

Me la he quitado al cuarto día, porque los desconchones en las uñas de la mano derecha eran ya muy evidentes. Eso sí: la mano izquierda, intacta. No sabéis la rabia que me da, jaja.

I removed the polish on the fourth day, because the chippings on the right hand were very noticeable. But the polish on the left hand remained intact all this time. You have no idea how much this annoys me, lol.

UDLS/NOTW: Claire's 'Airforce Blue'.

Hoy os traigo mis uñas de la semana... pasada. Sí, he estado un poco perezosa a la hora de escribir, pero más vale tarde que nunca.
Esta vez he utilizado el esmalte de Claire's "Airforce Blue", en un tono azul petróleo con acabado bastante brillante de por sí.

Hi girls,
Today I'm showing my nails of the week... of the last week. Yes, I've been a bit lazy to write, but later is better than never.
This time I've used the polish from Claire's 'Airforce Blue', in a petrol blue shade with a quite glossy finish by itself.

Para esta manicura me apliqué una capa fina de Nail Envy de OPI, después dos capas de este esmalte. Una capa ya cubre bastante, pero apliqué dos para un mejor acabado. Y para terminar... ¿Seche Vite?... No, esta vez decidí estrenar (ya era hora) el top coat mate de Essence. Y la verdad es que el acabado me ha gustado mucho, así que repetiré.

For this mani I applied a thin coat of Nail Envy from OPI, and then two thin coats of this polish. One coat has quite a good coverage, but I applied two for a better finish. And on top... Seche Vite?... No, this time I decided to use (it was time to do this) the matt top coat from Essence. The truth is that I like this finish very much, so I will repeat.

Esta manicura me ha durado tres días. Ha sucumbido después de un lavado de pelo, como casi siempre. Pero esta vez, en lugar de despegarse el esmalte como una pegatina, han aparecido pequeños desconchones que se han ido haciendo cada vez más grandes. Supongo que esto es debido al top coat que he usado esta vez.

The lasting time of this mani was three days. It perished after a hair wash, as usual. But this time the polish, instead of peeling off like a sticker, got small chippings. These became bigger and bigger. I guess this was so because of the top coat I've used this time.

Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry haul

Hoy os traemos una recopilación de las compras que hemos hecho últimamente. Como véis, hay de todo: compras en Mercadona, en Douglas, de Essence, etc. Podéis leer un breve comentario sobre cada uno de ellos después de la foto, en el sentido de las agujas del reloj.

Today we have a cumulated sundry haul with our latest purchases. As you can see below, there's a little bit of everything: some stuff from the Spanish supermarkets *Mercadona*, from Douglas, a couple of Essence goodies, etc. You can read a short comment about each of them after the pic, clockwise.




1- Esmaltes de Claire's en los tonos "Airforce Blue" -2,95 €- (arriba) y "Pink Holographic" -3,50 €- (abajo). Sí, ya sé que siempre decimos que en los esmaltes de Claire's no hay forma de saber qué tono es, porque todos tienen un número en lugar de un nombre, pero echad un vistazo al ticket de compra. ¡Tachán!

1- Nail polishes from Claire's in the shades 'Airforce Blue' -€ 2.95- (above) and 'Pink Holographic' - €3.50 -(below). Yes, I know that we always say that it's impossible to know about the name of these polishes, because all of them have a number instead of a name, but have a look at the ticket. Ta-dah!




2- Mascarilla de pepino de "Montagne Jeunesse", también de Claire's (y ahora Mercadona). No hemos probado ninguna de esta marca todavía, a pesar de haber leído buenas críticas en varios blogs. Precio: 1,95 € (pero al tener una oferta de 3x2, nos salió gratis).

2- Cucumber peel-off mask from 'Montagne Jeunesse', also available from Claire's (and now also Mercadona). We haven't tried anything from this brand yet, in spite of having read favorable reviews on several blogs. Price: 1.95 EUR (but they had a B2G3 and therefore got it for free).

3- Esmalte de uñas de CHICOGO (que por lo visto, es del grupo Rimmel) en el tono "Zeigeist". Los compramos en el mercadillo por... ¡1€ cada uno! Es un tono muy especial, así que no podíamos dejarlo en el puesto, y menos por ese precio.

Por cierto, que a Marian se le ha ocurrido un nuevo parecido razonable, así que permaneced atentas.

3- Nail polish from CHICOGO (which belongs to Rimmel, apparently) in the shade 'Zeigeist'. We bought them at a street market for... €1 each! It's a very special shade, so we couldn't leave them there, especially not for that price!.

Btw, Marian has come with a new idea for a 'Reasonable Lookalikes' comparison post, so stay tuned.

4- Mousse fijadora para cabello rizado de Deliplus: Marox había leído buenas opiniones de esta mousse del Mercadona para el pelo rizado, así que se vino con ella en la última visita a nuestro supermercado más cercano. Aunque le encanta la espuma de esta línea (la del bote totalmente naranja), por lo visto este producto reseca menos el pelo. Estamos deseando probarla. Precio: 2,50 €.

4- Styling Mousse for Curly Hair from Deliplus: I read some good opinions about this mousse so I grabbed it on my last visit to our nearest Mercadona supermarket. Although she loves the Deliplus styling foam (the one with the fully orange bottle), this mousse is apparently less drying. We're very eager to try it. Price: 2.50 EUR.

5- Toallitas limpiadoras de bebé de Deliplus: Muchas veces no utilizamos toallitas desmaquillantes para eliminar la mayor parte del maquillaje, sino toallitas de bebé. Nos gusta que el cierre sea rígido para evitar que se sequen. Las de Deliplus por lo general están bastante bien, aunque éstas en concreto no las hemos probado. Precio: 1,70 €.

5- Baby wipes from Deliplus: Most times we don't use makeup remover wipes but baby wipes to get rid of the bulk of our make-up at the end of the day. We like the fact that they have a hard plastic closure to prevent the wipes from drying out. The ones from Deliplus are generally quite good, though we haven't tried these ones in particular yet. Price: 1.70 EUR.

6- Limpiador facial Essence MySkin: Lo probamos gracias a María, que por cierto se ha lesionado la mano pero confiamos en que pronto esté recuperada, y como nos ha gustado para completar nuestra rutina de limpieza, pues hemos comprado para repetir. Estuvimos tentadas de probar el limpiador 4en1, quizá la próxima vez.

6- Essence MySkin Soft Cleansing Gel: We tried this thanks to María, who btw injured her left hand but hopefully will soon make a full recovery, and liked it enough to complete our daily cleansing routine that we purchased it to keep on using it. We were very tempted by the 4in1 Cleansing Cream, so who knows, maybe we'll get it next time.

7- Kit de estampación de Essence: Aprovechando que tras varios años poniéndonos los dientes largos con la promesa de traer el mueble de tratamiento en Bustillo por fin lo tienen, marox se compró el último kit. Es una lástima que no vendan sueltas las placas que han ido incluyendo en los kit (o que saquen otras nuevas, ya puestos).

7- Essence nail art Stamping set: After a couple of year's wait, our local beauty supplies store Bustillo finally decided to bring the second Essence display, the treatment/nail art one and marox could finally get her hands on the latest set. Pity Essence does not sell the plates that come with all their sets throughout the years separately (and pity they don't release new plates either).


8- Manteca corporal de mango y papaya de Douglas: Es la primera vez que compramos una de estas mantecas y aprovechando un descuento que le llegó a Marian de Douglas vía SMS nos decidimos a probarlas. Aunque no están mal de precio, si nos podemos ahorrar unas pelillas, pues mejor que mejor. *Edito: El precio normal es de 5,95€, que con el descuento del 20% se quedó en 4,76€.

8- Mango and Papaya body butter from Douglas: It's the first time we get one of these and took the plunge thanks to a discount code Marian received from Douglas in an SMS. Although the price is not bad, if we can save some cents, so much the better. *Edit: Retail price is usually 5.95 EUR, but as they had a 20% off in the store, we only paid 4.76 EUR.

Nuestros esmaltes de Claire's / Our Claire's Nailpolishes: 74400

Hoy vengo con una entrada de archivo rapidita, con un esmalte que compramos hace tiempo en una de esas ofertas de Claire's. Como todos los esmaltes de la marca a la venta en España, no lleva nombre sino número: 74400.

I'm back with a quickie 'from the vault' post, to show you another of our Claire's polishes that Marian got a while ago during of the Claire's sales. As with the rest of polishes from the brand for sale here in Spain, it doesn't have a name but a number, 74400.

En las fotos, llevo una capa del Nail Envy de OPI y cuando ha secado, una capa generosa de este esmalte. Es un tono hielo, que aunque relativamente cubriente, deja ver claramente la linea de la uña. Nada más que decir al respecto. Viene con unas estrellitas en la tapa, que quizá algún día nos dé por usar para animar alguna manicura. O eso, o directamente, un franken.

In the pics, I have a coat of OPI's Nail Envy and once dry, I applied a generous coat of this polish. A winter, icy colour relatively opaque though with clearly VNL. Nothing else to say about it. It comes with a secret lid on the cap containing star glitter, that we may use one day to spice up a mani. Or why not, a franken with the polish.

Bueno, os traigo mi manicura de la semana, esta vez con el esmalte "Midnight Passion" de H&M y un esmalte con glitter de Claire's, cuyo nombre es imposible saber, así que he decidido bautizarlo como "Iris", haciendo honor a la persona que nos lo regaló.

How are you doing this Christmas? I hope you're doing OK.
Well, today I'm showing you my mani for this week; this time with the 'Midnight Passion' polish from H&M and a polish with glitter from Claire's, whose name is impossible to know, so I decided to name it 'Iris', in honor of the person who gave it to us.

Primer día: Pues bien, para esta manicura, apliqué primero una capa de Nail Envy de OPI (la versión mini que nos regaló María), luego una capa gruesa (no demasiado) del esmalte de H&M. Esperé a que se secara para aplicar una capa del esmalte "Iris" de Claire's, y después una capa de Seche Vite.

First day: OK, for this mani I applied a coat of Nail Envy from OPI (the mini version María gave us), then a thick coat (not too much thick) of the H&M polish. I waited until it got dried before applying a coat of the 'Iris' polish from Claire's, and a coat of Seche Vite on top.

Segundo día/Second day: Fotos/Pics.

Tercer día: Tengo un pequeño desconchón en el dedo medio de la mano derecha. El resto, en perfecto estado.

Third day: I've got a small chipping in the right hand middle finger. The rest of the nails, in perfect conditions.

Cuarto día: Otro pequeño desconchón, ahora en el dedo índice de la mano derecha.

Fourth day: Another small chipping, this time in the right hand index finger.

Quinto día: El desconchón se ha hecho enorme, así que me quito el esmalte.

Fifth day: The chipping has become so huge that I decide to remove the polish.

Aprovecho esta entrada, en la que os enseño mi última manicura de 2011, para desearos un Feliz Año, mejor que este año que hoy termina (¡qué difícil!).

Poticamelleo y regalos de PolishAMOR - Stash deal and gifts from PolishAMOR

Hace unos meses Marox participó en el sorteo de una tarjeta regalo del blog de Emily's Nail Files de una tienda online americana, Apothica, que ganó. Por desgracia, al intentar hacerla efectiva, resultó que los gastos de envío a España eran desorbitados: más de 30 €.

Some months ago Marox entered a giveaway on Emily's Nail Files and won a giftcard from a US-based only beauty store, Apothica. Unfortunately, when we tried to redeem it found out the shipping costs to Spain were outrageous: more than 30 EUR.

Así que desde la tienda -de un trato excelente, todo sea dicho- sugirieron la posibilidad de cedérsela a otra persona que viviera en EEUU y eso fue lo que hicimos. Marox se puso en contacto con una de nuestras seguidoras y fiel comentarista, PolishAMOR para que aprovechara ella la tarjeta. Aún no la ha hecho efectiva ya que sus objetos de deseo no estaban en stock de momento y a cambio se ofreció a conseguirnos alguna cosa. Primeramente le dijimos que no, ya que la idea de cederle la tarjeta regalo no era con la esperanza de recibir nada a cambio, aunque tras mucho pensar, finalmente decidimos pedirle algún esmalte dorado no muy caro que sirviera para estampar, como el famoso 2030 de China Glaze.

So the store -kudos to the attentive customer service, btw- suggested donating the giftcard to a friend living in the States and that's what we did. Marox contacted one of our followers and loyal commenter, PolishAMOR so she could use it herself. She has not redeemed it yet as her lemmings were not in stock and she insisted on getting us something in return. We initially refused because that wasn't the plan when we offered her the giftcard, but after giving the matter some thought we said OK to her finding us a cheap polish that could make a good gold stamping polish, such as the famous 2030 from China Glaze.

Por lo visto el 2030 es ya difícil de encontrar, así que estuvo buscando posibles alternativas y encontró una que cumplía sobradamente en la marca Color Club. Se trata del esmalte 'Gingerbread Man' de una de las últimas colecciones de la marca.

Apparently 2030 is now becoming quite HTF, so she did some searching for a good substitute and found an excellent one in Color Club. It's called 'Gingerbread Man' and was released in one of the brand's latest collections.

La sorpresa llegó cuando siete días después nuestro "San Cartero" (al que ya le hemos obsequiado con una cajita de bombones por la cantidad de veces que nos sube cosas) nos trajo una cajita. ¿Una cajita para un esmalte? ¡Qué exagerada! ¿no? Pues SÍ, Iris es una exagerada. Si no nos creéis, mirad todo lo que embutió en la cajita.

Surprise came seven days letter when our dear postman (aka. St. Postman -who's already received a 'Thank you' box of chocolates from us) brought us a box. A box for one polish?? That's way too big!! Yes, Iris DID GO overboard and stuffed a gazillion stuff in said box. Check it out for yourselves if you don't believe us.

Según ella, tenía que aprovechar el franqueo y que estaban liquidando la colección 'Metro (Uptown)' de China Glaze. Sí, sí, excusas.

According to her, she had to make the most of the flat rate box and the fact that the China Glaze 'Metro (Uptown') collection was on clearance. Nay, that's just excuses!!

UDLS / NOTW: Claire's - 74458 Y 36/09

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros uno de los esmaltes que Marian sacó en su *última* entrega de los "Parecidos Razonables". Se trata de un esmalte que compré en una de esas promociones en las que ponen una serie de artículos a 1€. Lo lucí hace ya algunas semanas.

I'd like you to meet one of the polishes Marian shared with you in her *latest* 'Reasonable Lookalikes' series. I bought this polish on one of those sales Claire's has where they have many items discounted at just 1 EUR. I sported this a few weeks ago.

Por lo general, los esmaltes de Claire's no me entusiasman. Suelen ser bastante líquidos y no muy cubrientes, lo que no quiere decir que haya otros tonos como *éste* que sí que merecen la pena.

Generally speaking, I'm not very fond of Claire's lacquers. They're usually pretty liquidy and quite sheer, but that does not necessarily mean that you can't find others *here* that are really worth it.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de base de Basic (Schlecker), seguida de 2/3 capas gruesas de este esmalte necesarias para conseguir una cobertura medianamente aceptable. Aplico SV y en algunas uñas, parece que no congenian muy bien. Imagino que se deba a que no me queda mucho.

Day 1: At night, I apply a coat of my Basic basecoat from Schlecker, followed by 2 to 3 thick ones of this, the minimum required to get a decent coverage out of a polish as sheer as this. I apply SV and it seems a couple of nails don't like this very much. I guess this is due to the fact that I'm running out of SV.

Día 2 : Tras pasar el día emulando a los de Bricomanía, el esmalte del pulgar derecho tiene un enoorme desconchón y las puntas del resto de uñas de esa misma mano también están un poco rozadas.

Day 2: After spending the day playing the DIY gal, my right thumbnail has a MAJOR chip and the rest of nails in that hand show some damage too.

Día 4: Me lo quito por la mañana, antes de lavarme el pelo.

Day 4: I took this off in the morning, shortly before washing my hair.

Revisando la carpeta de fotos para el blog en el disco duro, me he encontrado con un par de ellas que sirven para esta serie de "Parecidos razonables", pero por motivos distintos.

Having a look at the folder with pics for the blog in my hard drive, I've found a pair of them that are a perfect match for the 'Reasonable lookalikes' series, but for different reasons.

Me diréis que los colores se parecen como un huevo a una castaña. Es cierto, pero en este caso el parecido no está en los colores, sino en la forma del envase.
Ahora ya tiene sentido, ¿verdad?

You'll tell me that the two shades don't look like each other at all. It's true, but in this case you won't find the likeliness in the shades, but in the shape of the bottle. Now it makes sense, doesn't it?

El envase de la izquierda es de un esmalte de OPI y el de la derecha, de W7, de uno de los esmaltes que nos envió Sarah Louise en el intercambio que hicimos hace poco.

The bottle on the left is from a polish from OPI, and the one on the right from W7, which is one of the polishes Sarah Louise sent us when we made a swap a few weeks ago.

Y ahora vamos con el "Parecidos razonables" de verdad.
Comparamos el esmalte de Claire's 9517 (nunca sé si este número es la referencia correcta), de un color morado claro con el esmalte de W7 que os enseñaba en la foto anterior.

And now let's go with the real 'Reasonable lookalikes'. We're comparing now the polish from Claire's 9517 (I never know if this number is the right reference), in a pale purple shade, with the one from W7, which I already showed you on the upper pic.



La verdad es que no son clones exactos. El esmalte de W7 tiene un subtono más azulado que el de Claire's. Sin embargo, su cobertura es muy similar; es decir, baja. Hay que aplicar varias capas para que se aprecie el color. Una pena.

The fact is that they're not exact dupes. The polish from W7 has more blue undertones than the one from Claire's. However, their coverage is very similar; I mean, low. You have to apply several coats to see the colour appearing. Pity.

Ahora que pienso, el esmalte de Claire's ya os lo había enseñado cuando hice recopilación de mis esmaltes en la rueda. Pero el de W7 no lo habíais visto como es debido, así que aquí lo tenéis, más en detalle.

I'm back with another pedi. Do you remember the orange nailpolish I said I'd probably never wear? Well, never say never, because here it is. In fact, it's a call for the good summer weather one would expect to have these days to come back.

El último de esta rueda, el “Purple Diamond”, lo compré en mi última visita a Bustillo. No quería quedarme sin él (probé el de mi hermana y me encantó), y además me costó 0,99€, pues ya estaban con la discontinuación.

The 'Purple Diamond' polish, on the 13^th tip of this nailwheel, was bought on my most recent visit to Bustillo. I didn't want to be left without it (I tried my sister's and I loved it), and it cost me only €0,99, because they are being discontinued.

Como veis, tengo bastantes esmaltes morados, casi tantos como “nudes”. ¿Qué le voy a hacer? Me encanta este color.

As you can see, I have many purple nail polishes, nearly so many as 'nude' ones. What can I do? I love this shade.

Aquí estoy de nuevo.
Lo prometido es deuda, así que os traigo una nueva entrega de "Uñas de la Semana", presentándoos la versión de Claire's del "Paradoxal" de Chanel.
En el título del post digo que es el número 289, aunque en realidad, no estoy segura. Este número está escrito en la etiqueta, en la parte donde se detallan todos los ingredientes, y en el que tiene mi hermana, también está ese mismo número; por eso he deducido que se trata de la referencia, pero la verdad es que no lo sé. Aviso de esto porque no quiero inducir a nadie a error.

Bueno, hechas las aclaraciones, creo que lo mejor es que lo veáis.

Here I am again. As I promised, I bring you a new entry of 'Nails of the Week', showing you the Chanel's 'Paradoxal' version by Claire's. On the title of the post I'm saying that it's number 289, even though I'm not completely sure. This number is written on the label, where all the ingredients are detailed, and this number also appears on my sister's bottle; that's why I've assumed this is the reference number, but the truth is that I don't know. I'm warning you about this because I don't want to lead anybody into error. Well, once everything is clarified, I think it's better to see it.



La aplicación de este esmalte es muy buena, así como su cobertura. En la foto llevo una capa del Base Coat de Basic (Schlecker), una capa gruesa de esmalte, y como top coat, mi adorado Seche Vite, de cuya existencia supe gracias a mi hermana; y como sabe que me gusta tanto, me regaló otro de tamaño normal (hasta ahora tenía el de tamaño mini). Pero sigo usando el pequeño para que no se me estropee.

The application of this polish is very good, as well as its coverage. In the pic I'm wearing the Base Coat by Basic (Schlecker), a thick coat of polish, and my beloved Seche Vite on top, whose existence I knew thanks to my sister; since she knows that I like it so much, she gave me another one normal-sized (I just had the mini one until now). I'm still using the smallest one so it doesn't go bad.

En cuanto a la duración, desde que me lo apliqué el jueves por la noche, a día de hoy (domingo), en mi mano izquierda está intacto. En la derecha, tengo algún pequeño desconchón en las uñas de los dedos índice y medio.

And talking about lasting, since I applied it on Thursday night (today it's Sunday), it's intact on my left hand. On the right one, the polish got chipped on my index and middle finger nails.

Bueno, espero que os haya gustado este "Uñas de la Semana", sobre todo a Salander (espero que lo estrenes pronto y nos lo enseñes también) y a Gadirroja (que sé que tenía ganas de ver esta entrada).

Mis poticompras en Madrid - My Madrid make-up haul.

Hoy ha hecho un día bastante lluvioso, aunque en estos momentos ha aclarado y está saliendo el sol (a buenas horas). Así que como esta tarde la he pasado en casita, me he dedicado a preparar entradas que tenía pendientes.
En esta que hoy os traigo veréis las compras de maquillaje que hice en Madrid.

Today it's been quite a rainy day, although it's clearer now and the sun is shining (it's a bit late for that, isn't it?). Since I've spent the afternoon at home, I decided to prepare some posts I had on queue.
In today's you can see my make-up haul in Madrid.


Los esmaltes que veis son, de izquierda a derecha: el 242 'Ametista Perlato' de KIKO, el 300 'Verde Malachite Perlato', también de KIKO, uno de Claire's, del que no estoy segura de qué número tiene (no sé si alguien sabe dónde encontrar el número), y el esmalte de H&M en el tono Midnight Passion.
Como veis, de 4 esmaltes, 2 han sido rojos: el de H&M en un rojo sólido, y el de KIKO con brillos, más "fiestero".

Detrás de los esmaltes, podéis ver el jabón que me compré. Éste es de algas. No es el primero que me compro de este tipo. El año pasado en los Sampedros (las fiestas de Burgos, y las llamamos así porque se celebra San Pedro y San Pablo), compré varios como éste en unos puestecillos: 2 para mí y otros 2 para mi hermana. Como nos han encantado (y se van gastando), había que reponer, así que decidimos aprovechar la ocasión. El precio fue de 5 € por 2 jabones.

The nail polishes you can see, from left to right, are: the '242 - Ametista Perlato' from KIKO, the '300 -Verde Malachite Perlato', also from KIKO, another one from Claire's whose number I'm not quite sure about (does anybody know where to find the number?), and the polish from H&M called 'Midnight Passion'.
As you can see, 2 of the 4 nail polishes I bought are red: the one from H&M in a fast red, and the one from KIKO is red with shimmer, more appropiate for party time.

Behind the polishes, you can see the soap I bought (seaweed soap). This is not the first soap I have bought of this brand. Last year, at 'Sampedros' (Burgos local Holidays, and we call them that way because we honour both St. Peter and St. Paul), I bought some at a street market stall: 2 for me and 2 for my sister. We fell in love with this kind of soap, (and we've run out of them), so we decided to seize the chance to stock up. We paid €5 for 2 soap bars.

De todo lo que compré en Madrid, sólo he usado el esmalte de Claire's. Tenía ganas de probar su versión del "Paradoxal" de Chanel, y pudimos hacernos con él gracias a Salander. Me encanta el color que tiene, y cómo los reflejos que tiene se hacen visibles con la luz.
Haré otra entrada sobre él para que veáis cómo queda.

From everything I bought in Madrid, I've only used the Claire's nailpolish. I was willing to try their version of 'Paradoxal' from Chanel. We managed to find it thanks to Salander. I love its colour, and how its reflections become visible depending on the light. I'll upload another post, so you can see how it looks.

Mis compras en Madrid - My Madrid Haul

Tenía pendiente de hacer la entrada correspondiente a las compras que hicimos en Madrid. Curiosamente, de lo único que no compramos nada fue de Essence, ya que el stand de Primor estaba 'pelao', como ya os comentamos en la entrada sobre el viaje.

I owed you the entry featuring our purchases in Madrid. Strangely enough, the only brand I didn't get anything from was Essence, because the display at Primor was completely raided, as we told you in the trip post.



Lo primero que compramos si mal no recuerdo fue en el H&M de la Gran Vía. En mi caso, me llevé el esmalte 'Hunt me down', que ya puedo tachar de mi wishlist. Los esmaltes de la línea normal de esta marca contienen 9 ml/0.3 fl.oz. y cuestan 3,95€. Salen algo más caros que los de Essence o Deliplus, pero según la gente que los ha probado, duran mucho puestos. Ya os contaré qué tal me funcionan. De momento, al hacer el chuache en la rueda me ha dado muy buena impresión. Es lo único que os puedo comentar hasta el momento

The first thing we got was at the H&M store on Gran Vía. I bought the 'Hunt me down' nail polish, soon to be crossed off my wishlist. The polishes from the standard line contain 9ml/0.3 fl.oz and cost €3.95. They're slightly more expensive than say, Essence or Deliplus from Mercadona, but according to the ladies who've tried them they wear great. I'll let you know about that myself. All I can say about it so far is that they did very well while swatching them on the nailwheel.

Donde sí que arrasamos -o mejor aún, en singular 'arrasé'- fue en Kiko. Os presento mis primeros esmaltes de esta marca. Ya visitamos una tienda Kiko en Berlín, pero lo único que compramos entonces fueron unas brochas. Los esmaltes no nos llamaron demasiado la atención. Sin embargo, Kiko recientemente ha sacado como 40 esmaltes nuevos de golpe... y temporalmente *Según La Loca de los esmaltes, la promoción termina esta semana -hoy es 8/6/2011* están rebajados a sólo 2,50 €. El tamaño está muy bien: traen 11 ml. No me negaréis que con tantos colores y estando rebajados era muy difícil resistirse. No he tenido ocasión de probarlos aún, pero al igual que con el de H&M, al probarlos en la rueda me han dado muy buena impresión.
Como podéis ver, también compré una lima de cristal, al mismo precio. Tengo un par de ellas de Claire's y las pobres están bastante desgastadas por el centro.

The store where we DID some damage -or maybe I should say that in the singular, 'I' did- was Kiko. Let me introduce my first Kiko polishes. It was our second visit to a Kiko store, the first time was in Berlin where we only got a couple of brushes. At the time, none of the polishes there gave me goosebumps or anything. But, Kiko recently released 40 new shades in one go... and they're being sold now for just €2.50, dunno how long the offer will be on *According to La Loca de los Esmaltes the offer expires this week -today is 8/6/2011-. Size is good, you get 11ml of product. You'll agree with me that it was hard to resist the sight of so many polishes and a nice discount. I haven't worn any of them yet, but like before, I got a very good impression when doing the nailwheel swatches.
As you can see, I also got a glass nail file from Kiko, for the same price as the above. I have a couple of them from Claire's but they're quite worn out in the middle.

Nos gustan mucho los jabones sólidos y como no hay Lush por aquí -y en cualquier caso, los productos de Lush me parecen un atraco a mano armada- intentamos probar otras alternativas más baratas. Estos ya los conocíamos de un mercado medieval que hubo aquí en junio. Son jabones de Marsella 100% vegetales. El que yo compré en Madrid es de sandía. El año pasado, mi hermana me compró dos: de aceite de argán y de leche de burra (como Cleopatra). Sólo he probado el último y me encantó. Era superhidratante. Nos costaron lo mismo que los del mercado medieval: 1 jabón= 3 €; 2= 5€.
La 'marca' es 'La Maison du Savon (de Marseille)'. ¡Sorpresa, sorpresa, tiene página web! La pastilla trae 125 gr y nos lo pusieron en esa preciosa bolsita que veis.

We like solid soaps a lot and since there's no Lush here -and anyway, I think Lush products are highly overpriced, i.e. a daylight robbery- we like to try others. These we knew already, from one of those medieval-themed street markets that was organized here last June. These are Marseille soaps and are 100% vegan. The one I got in Madrid is a watermelon soap. Last year my sister got two for me: argan oil and ass milk? = 'Lait d'anesse' in French (yeah, like the Egyptian queen Cleopatra). I have only tried the latter and I absolutely loved it. It was sooo moisturising. Price was the same as in the medieval market: 1 soap= €3; 2= €5. The 'brand' is called 'La Maison du Savon (de Marseille)'. Surprise, surprise, it does have a website!. The bar has 125gr and the stall attendant put it in the cute little pouch you see.

Y por último pero no menos importante, gracias a Salander y lo 'puesta' que está: un clon del famoso 'Paradoxal' de Chanel, de Claire's. Trae 9ml y vale 2,95€. No me preguntéis referencia, porque cómo leches numera Claire's sus esmaltes es una ley de Murphy -los nuestros son iguales y las referencias no coincidían; con eso lo digo todo. No sabéis qué control tiene la amiga Salander: cuando pensábamos que sólo había uno (que muy amablemente se ofreció a cedernos), ahí estaba ella y sus deditos, rebuscando en la estantería. No paró hasta que todas tuvimos el nuestro. No lo he probado tampoco, pero tiene buena pinta -cosa rara en los esmaltes de Claire's que tengo de momento, que suelen ser todos más bien 'aguachirri con purpurina'. Evakke ha enseñado alguno que no sé si le dio 7 capas y ni por esas. Ella fue la más comedida, pero claro, venía de arrasar en los Walgreens y cía de EEUU en su viaje por trabajo a Las Vegas, tal y como podéis ver aquí y aquí. Cuando nos vimos, lucía una de sus últimas adquisiones allí. Precioso es poco.

And last but not least, and thanks to the lovely Salander and how well up she is in nail polish releases: Claire's take (dupe) on the famous 'Paradoxal' from Chanel. It has 9ml and was €2.95. Don't ask me to give you a reference no. for that because it's damn impossible to guess how on earth Claire's lists their products -it's probably another Murphy's Law; our polishes are exactly the same but have different product numbers, that says it all. You don't how skilled the girl is at sorting out and searching through the shelves,lol. When we thought there would only be one, which she kindly offered to hand over, she came out with another two!
Again, I haven't worn it yet but looked promising on the nailwheel -strange for a Claire's, all the others I have are a watery glittery useless thing. Evakke has shown some on her blog and not even 7 friggin' coats gave her a decent opacity. Salander was in a very self-restrained mood, but only because she had hauled big time in Vegas, as you can see here and here. When we met, she was sporting one of the purchases she made in her latest business trip to the States. My saying the thing was seriously hot is an understatement.

Bueno, os dejo, que como siempre me enrollo cosa mala.
Well, as usual I'm a mouth on legs, lol!
