UDLS / NOTW: Models Own 'Hayley's Comet'.

Espero que bien. Por mi parte, bastante liada con el trabajo y con una reforma parcial en casa de mis padres.
Hoy vengo con una manicura, para mostraros el único esmalte que compré en Liverpool. Es lo que tiene el tener ya demasiados, que te plantas e intentas comprar sólo los que no se parezcan a otros que tengas o que sean especiales.

El esmalte que os enseño hoy cumple esos dos requisitos: de entrada, no me recordó a ninguno que tuviera y desde luego, es muy especial.
Al César lo que es del César: lo cierto es que fue Marian la que se fijó en este esmalte, porque sabía que me gustaría.

Lo utilicé hace ya varias semanas. No recuerdo si usé la base de Essence de la gama 'Better Than Gel Nails' o la peel-off , seguida de dos / una generosa de este esmalte. Por último, apliqué una capa del topcoat de la BTGN de Essence. No recuerdo cuánto me duró, pero creo que dos o tres días.
Me gustaría poder hacer como antes, ir abriendo la entrada o apuntando esas cosas, pero últimamente voy volada de tiempo.
Aunque me gusta cómo queda el esmalte así, creo que resaltará aún más si utilizo uno más oscuro debajo. 

Éste esmalte fue mi compra de belleza más cara en Liverpool. Pagué 5 libras por él en Superdrug.

I hope you're doing well. As for me, I'm quite busy with work and a partial home reno at my parents' to boot.
I have a mani for you today, featuring the only polish I bought in our recent trip to Liverpool.
This is what happens when you decide you have too many polishes. You say, enough is enough and only buy those that don't resemble any others in your stash or that are special for some reason.
Well, I'd rather give honour where honour is due and therefore say it was actually Marian who spotted this, because she knew I'd love it.

The varnish I'm sharing with you here fulfills these criteria: for starters, it didn't remind me of others I already had and it is certainly unique.
I used this at least a couple of weeks ago. I don't really remember if I used the 'Better Than Gel Nails' or my Peel-off base coat, both from Essence. I then applied two / one generous coats of this lacquer. I don't recall how long I wore this for, but probably two or three days.



I wish I could write down as I used to all those details when writing my mani posts, but lately I'm always in a hurry.
Though I like the way this looks on its own, I got a feeling the colour will pop out even more when layered on top of a darker polish.

This varnish was my most expensive beauty buy in Liverpool. I paid 5 pounds for this at Superdrug.

Comparativa / Side by Side comparison – Models Own 'Mystic Mauve' vs. Essence #59 'Purple Diamond'

Hacía tiempo que no hacíamos una comparativa, así que hoy venimos con dos esmaltes, uno de Essence de la extinta gama Multidimension y el otro de la marca Models Own y que conseguimos gracias a nuestro intercambio con Sarahlouise del blog Spellbindingnails.

It's been a while since we last did an in-depth comparison, so here we are with two polishes, an Essence from the now defunct Multdimension line and the other from Models Own, kindly sent to us as part of a swap with the lovely Sarahlouise from Spellbindingnails.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de la base selladora de Essence. En la mano izquierda, aplico el esmalte de Models Own en el pulgar, corazón y meñique. En la derecha, lo aplico en el índice y anular. El de Essence, en el índice y anular de la izquierda y en el pulgar, corazón y meñique derechos. Como ya es tarde, una capita de SV encima.

La diferencia entre ambos esmaltes es muy sutil y la aplicación similar, con una capa generosa basta para cubrir perfectamente nuestras uñas.

Day 1: At night, I apply one coat of the Essence sealing base. On my left hand, I applied the Models Own lacquer on my thumb, middle and pinky. On my right, on the pointer and ring finger. The Essence, on my left pointer and ring and on my right thumb, middle and pinky. To avoid nasty surprises in the morning, a coat of SV on top.

The difference between the two is very subtle and applicationwise these are comparable too. One generous coat will do to cover our nails perfectly.

Día 2: Esta mañana, sin haber hecho nada especial, tengo un desconchón en el pulgar derecho (pintado con el de Essence) y poco después otro más pequeño en el dedo corazón derecho, que también lleva el esmalte de Essence. Más tarde tengo desconchones en la mano izquierda y los de la derecha se notan bastante.

Day 2: In the morning, without having done anything out of the ordinary, I have a chip on my right thumb (wearing the Essence polish) and shortly afterwards a smaller one on my right middle finger, also wearing 'Purple Diamond' from Essence.

Me lo quito el día 3 por la mañana, ya que se me saltó prácticamente entero el esmalte en el pulgar derecho. La única explicación que encuentro a la escasa duración de esta manicura es la base que he usado en esta ocasión.

I took it off on day 3 in the morning, as practically the entire polish on my right thumb peeled off. The only explanation I can think of regarding the poor wear of this mani is the base I used this time.

Puesto que el de Essence ya no está disponible, el de Models Own será un buen sustituto. Por cierto, que el 'Purple Diamond' sirve para estampar. No he tenido ocasión de probar con el 'Mystic Mauve' de Models Own.

Since the Essence is not available any more, this one from Models Own will be a good substitute. Btw, 'Purple Diamond' can be used for stamping, but I haven't tried 'Mystic Mauve' for that purpose just yet.

Parecidos razonables/Reasonable lookalikes: Models Own 'Mystic Mauve' vs. Essence 'Purple Diamond'.

This time, you can see the likeliness between the polishes 'Mystic Mauve' from Models Own, and 'Purple Diamond', from Essence, which I already showed you here.

No son clones exactos, pues el de Essence es más morado que el de Models Own, pero la verdad es que, si los viera por separado, no sabría distinguir uno de otro.

Ambos tienen acabado “foil”.

They're not exact dupes, as the Essence shade is 'more purple' than the one from Models Own, but the truth is that if I saw them separately, I couldn't tell one from the other.

Both of them have foil finish.

Me sorprende la cantidad de tipos de acabados de esmaltes que estoy probando últimamente. Antes, sólo tenía los típicos de brillito metalizado o de esos en acabado nacarado.

I'm surprised about all the different kinds of polishes (I'm talking about the finish) I'm trying lately. Before now, I only had those typical ones with either a metallic or a pearl finish.

Intercambio con / Swap with: Spellbinding Nails

El mes pasado participamos por primera vez en un intercambio. La elegida fue Sarah Louise, una de nuestras primeras seguidoras y responsable del blog Spellbinding Nails en el que casi a diario nos ofrece coloridas manicuras creadas con alguna de las placas de estampación de su interminable y siempre creciente colección.
Pero Sarah ansiaba ampliar esa colección con dos placas más, en concreto con dos placas de Essence -marca, por cierto, que no se vende en el Reino Unido- algo difíciles de encontrar. En nuestro último viaje, marox se hizo en Kruidvat con un par para ella y compró otro pensando en un posible intercambio.

Last month we did a swap for the first time. Sarah Louise, one of our first followers and the person behind the blog Spellbinding Nails was the chosen one. In her blog, you'll find colourful and almost daily manis featuring designs from her endless (and evergrowing) image plate collection. But Sarah had set her eyes on two more plates for some time, in particular two of the Essence plates that happen to be a little bit HTF. Btw, Essence is not sold in the UK but thankfully for her, Marox got from Kruidvat a pair for herself and another one with a possible swap in mind.

Sarah nos ha mandado esmaltes de algunas de las marcas que podemos encontrar en el Reino Unido, como Models Own, o 17 y W7 de las droguerías Boots. Como teníamos ganas de tener un esmalte holográfico al estilo del de Gosh, Sarah nos ofreció como alternativa uno de Marks & Spencer que tiene muy buena pinta. No es tan superholográfico como el de Gosh, lo que por otra parte tiene sus ventajas, ya que así es más ponible.


Sarah has sent to us a few polishes from some of the brands available in the UK, such as Models Own, 17 or W7 from Boots. As we wanted to have a more linear holo like the now HTF Gosh Holographic, Sarah suggested this from Marks & Spencer as a good alternative and indeed it is. It looks very nice and though it's not as in-your-face holo like the Gosh one, so much the better, as it makes it much more wearable.

Pero su paquete no sólo contenía esmaltes: también nos ha mandado dos placas con unos diseños muy bonitos y que a buen seguro usaremos pronto. Cada una de ellas contiene diseños de dos tamaños, los más grandes son tan grandes que son perfectos para las uñas del dedo gordo del pie. Hay más cositas de nail art: unas pegatinas con forma de corazón del kit de 17 y unas ¿calcomanías al agua? de VivaLaNails. También nos ha mandado un rotulador con pincelito con aceite hidratante para uñas y cutículas, que Marian está deseando probar. También hay una bolsita zip con unos adornitos para las uñas muy cucos: gatitos, mariposas, etc. Supongo que se pegarán a la uña con un poco de pegamento o esmalte.

But her package did not contain merely nail varnish: she also sent us two image plates with some cute designs we'll probably use very soon. These contain designs in two different sizes, the biggest ones are so big that will work great to use on the big toe. There are more nail art items: heart-shaped stickers as part of the 17 nail art set and a couple of water decals?? from VivaLaNails. She also enclosed a nail care pen with a brush on one end with nourishing oils for cuticles and nails that Marian is very eager to try. There was also a small ziplock bag with the cutest nail décor ever: cats, butterflies, etc. I suppose they'll get stuck to the nails with some glue or nail polish.



Y como a nadie le amarga un dulce, pues nos mandó una bolsa de gominolas, que como véis, nos ha faltado tiempo para estrenar y hacerle el pertinente contol de calidad. Lo han aprobado con nota, jeje.

And as we say here, sweet things never made anyone bitter, so she also sent a bag of gummies that we couldn't help opening to perform the customary quality control. They passed with merit, lol.
