Mis regalos y autorregalos de cumpleaños - My birthday gifts and gifts to self.

¡Hola a todas!

Mi cumpleaños fue a finales de abril, y no es hasta ahora que publico este post. Fatal, lo sé. Pero no doy abasto a más, pero reconozco que desde que tengo el iPad me cuesta horrores encender el ordenador. En el iPad no me apaño para escribir entradas... ¡ya me cuesta responder a comentarios a cuenta del dichoso corrector!

Al lío, os enseño los regalitos que me hizo mi familia en tan señalada ocasión.

1 - Pendientes de plata y oro rosa: Fue el regalo de mis padres, que saben lo mucho que me gusta ir cambiando. No me gustan los pendientes muy ostentosos. Estos me parecen elegantes a la vez que modernos.
Los compraron en una joyería local. 

2 - Maleta de 4 ruedas, de *Paco Martínez*: Les tenía echado el ojo desde que le cuidamos la maleta en un viaje a una compañera, pero me daba palo cambiar la mía -de los chinos-, que todavía está muy bien y aguanta bien el trote que le damos (y que le dan) en nuestros viajes al extranjero.

Fue regalo de Marian. 

Y ahora le toca el turno a mis autorregalos, principalmente chorraditas varias, con algunas cosillas de cosmética natural:

3- Reproductor mp3 tipo iPod shuffle: El que tenía, también de imitación, decidió morir sin avisar y no pudo ser resucitado.
Aunque había modelos más baratos, decidí comprar éste a un *vendedor español*, ya que así no tendría que esperar un montón a recibirlo. Como véis en la foto, viene con unos auriculares -que no he probado- y un cablecito para cargarlo. A diferencia del anterior, no tiene memoria integrada, pero Marian encontró una micro-sd de un antiguo teléfono. De momento, funciona sin problemas. Me costó 4 euros, con el envío incluído.

4 - Cargador de viaje USB múltiple: A veces, en los hoteles, los enchufes libres en la habitación brillan por su ausencia, así que de este modo puedo cargar varios aparatos a la vez. Pedí dos, por si Marian tiene que gorronear uno. Los he probado y van bien, aunque se calientan un poco. Procuraré estar pendiente cuando los use. Se los compré a *este* vendedor por 3,98 dólares los dos, con envío gratis.

5 - Manteca de karité sin refinar, 500 gr:

Para experimentar con ella un poco. Se pueden hacer productos para el pelo como *éste*, que me vendría bien para el brote de psoriasis y un montón de cosas más. De momento, la he usado tal cual para las manos y los labios, y va muy bien. En las manos, si frotáis un trocito pequeño antes de echaros cualquier crema, notaréis las manos mucho más hidratadas.
Lo compré a *este vendedor* de Reino Unido, así que el envío fue bastante rápido.
Por curiosidad, pesé el tarro y el peso cuadra con lo anunciado.

6 - Aceite de Neem, 30ml: Compré este aceite por los mismos motivos. Tiene propiedades calmantes y cicatrizantes, antifúngicas, calma el picor y enrojecimiento, etc. Tiene un olor bastante fuerte, así que se suele añadir un poquito a otros aceites. De momento, lo he usado en mi uña, si bien es pronto para notar nada y mezclado con un poco de aceite a modo de prelavado capilar.
Lo compré también a un *vendedor* del Reino Unido. Me costó casi 9 euros, sumándole el envío.

My birthday was in late April and it's taken me this long to upload this post. Terrible, I know. But I'm afraid I have too much stuff going on right now and ever since I got the iPad I seldom turn on my laptop to write. I cannot for the life of me use the iPad for that, considering I have a hard time replying to comments from it already. Have I ever mentioned that I abhor all sorts of text-completion / predictive text features?

Enough said. Time to show you the presents I got from my family that day.

1 - Rose gold and silver earrings: It was my parents' present. They know how much I like to wear different ones. I've never been into blingy, heavy stuff. These are elegant and yet modern.
They bought them from a local jeweller's.

2 - 4-wheel suitcase, from *Paco Martínez*: I've had my eye on one of this ever since I kept watch of a friend's case for a few minutes. The thing was that I was reluctant to change mine -from the euro store, lol- as it is still in great shape and takes beatings from us (and others) like a pro when we travel abroad. This was Marian's present for me.



And now it's time to show you my 'gifts to self'', mainly cheap knick-knacks as well as some natural skincare ingredients:

3 - Ipod-shuffle knockoff: The one I had, another knockoff of the iPod shuffle suffered an unexpected death and could not be brought back to life.
Although there were cheaper models available, I chose a Spanish seller to spare me the long wait. As you see in the pic, it comes with earphones -which I haven't tested- and a small cable to charge it. Unlike my previous one, this one does not have an in-built memory, but Marian rescued an old micro-sd card from a phone. So far, it's working fine.
I paid 4 EUR, shipping included.

4 - EU travel adapter with 3 USB ports: Spare outlets are a rare commodity in some hotels we've been to. This little thing will make charging several devices easier. I ordered two, just in case Marian feels like borrowing the other one. I've tested them and they work fine, but can get a bit hot after a while. I'll try to stay close when I use them.
I purchased them both from *this seller* for $3.98, with free shipping.

5 - Pure unrefined Shea Butter, 500 gr: I bought it mainly to experiment a bit with it. You do DIY lots of products, such as *this* that looks right to help with my current psoriasis flare-up. So far I've used it as is for my hands and lips. Rub a small piece on your hands before any hand cream and your hands will feel better moisturized. I added a few drops to some oil and applied it to my scalp prior to washing.
I purchased it from this *UK seller*, so delivery was fast as expected.

On a whim I weighed the tub and it matched the purchased amount.

6 - Neem Oil, 30 ml: Bought this for the same reason as the above. It has lots of properties: soothing, helps scars healing, is antibacterial, reduces itching, etc.
It is quite smelly and for that reason is usually diluted in other oils. For now I've only used it on my nail, although it's too soon to tell if it's any effective.
I also bought this from a UK seller, *this* and paid almost €9, after adding shipping costs.

Mis regalos de cumpleaños / My birthday presents

¡Hay que ver cómo pasa el tiempo!
Hace poco he cumplido un año más, así que aprovecho para enseñaros mis regalos.

En primer lugar, Marian me sorprendió con los dos regalos que véis a continuación.

1 - Conjunto de pendientes y colgante esmaltados, de estilo Frey Wille. Marian los compró en Aliexpress, web a la que es mejor no pedir cosas de mucho valor o que os corran prisa, porque los pedidos tardan mucho en llegar.
Si recordáis, ya me había *regalado* una pulsera similar en las anteriores navidades.  Venían sin más en un cartoncito dentro de una bolsita de plástico. La cadena ha empezado a ponerse oscura -y eso que he tenido cuidado de no perfumarme con ella puesta-, pero los pendientes y el colgante siguen como el primer día.

2 - Colonia CK One, de Calvin Klein: Lo compró en Fapex, tienda muy recomendable, ya que tiene una amplia selección de perfumes, productos para el cabello, maquillaje a muy buenos precios. Los gastos de envío son muy razonables teniendo en cuenta que los pedidos vienen de la República Checa.

Aprovecho para mostraros un adelanto de mis autorregalos, aunque tengo pendiente de recibir una cosita para el iPad Mini.

3 - En Amazon España compré la pulsera de actividad de Xiaomi, también conocida como Xiaomi MiBand. Me costó 18,95€, con envío gratis y se la compré al vendedor LeStar. Hice el pedido el 25 de abril y me llegó por correo certificado el 8 de mayo.
Llevo usándola un par de semanas. La he sincronizado con el iPad, puesto que aparentemente la aplicación no era compatible con la versión de Android de mi teléfono (4.2).
Como pega, la aplicación oficial sólo está disponible en español, aunque en Internet encontraréis información sobre el funcionamiento de esta pulsera en distintos foros, Youtube, etc.
Si os interesa, cuando la haya probado un poco más, puedo hablaros de ella en un post específico.
En principio, me llamaban más las que traen display (con reloj, etc), pero las buenas costaban más de lo que estaba dispuesta a gastarme y todas las opiniones decían que ésta era una buena opción de entrada. Además, así es más discreta. ¿Lo véis? El que no se consuela es porque no quiere.
En casa ha llamado mucho la atención. Ya he modificado varias veces el objetivo, puesto que lo alcanzaba en seguida.
Por cierto, que una de mis alumnas la tiene también y ella la tiene sincronizada con su smartphone, para que le alerte de los mensajes de whatsapp y esas cosas.

4- Mi primer pedido a Vitacost... Tendréis que esperar a verlo en condiciones, puesto que el paquete llegó cuando no estábamos en casa y le dejé la autorización a mi padre. Así que si yo no he tenido ocasión de chafardearlo en condiciones, vosotras tampoco. He dicho.
Le he dado un par de cosas a Marian para que ella también pueda probarlas.

Perdón por no actualizar más a menudo, pero por temas de trabajo -retrasos porque otra persona no hizo su trabajo a tiempo- me ha resultado imposible.

It was my birthday recently, so I decided to share with you the presents I got on that date.

In the first place, Marian gave me the two presents below.

1 - Enamel earrings and pendant set, Frey Wille-style: Marian ordered these from Aliexpress, a site we'd now only buy stuff of little value and that you don't need to have by a certain date, as it will be long before you get it.
If you remember, I *got* a bracelet in the same style on a recent Christmas. 
They were sent in a simple piece of cardboard, protected with a plastic bag. The chain has started to darken, despite the fact that I've been careful not to spritz perfume while wearing it. Thankfully the earrings and pendant are still looking as good as new.

2 - Calvin Klein CK One: She bought this at Fapex, a great store with a wide range of perfumes, hair care and skin care products, makeup at really competitive prices. Shipping costs are very reasonable, considering orders come all the way from the Czech Republic.

I have yet to receive some stuff I treated myself to, like a little something for my Ipad Mini. As an appetizer, let me show you what has already arrived.

3 - I placed an Amazon (Spain) order for the Xiaomi smartband, aka Xiaomi MiBand. Seller's name was LeStar and I paid 18,95 EUR with free shipping. I ordered it on April 25th and it arrived by registered mail on May 8th.
I've only been using it for a couple of weeks and so far, so good. I paired it with my iPad Mini, as the app was apparently not compatible with the Android version of my smartphone (4.2). 
A potential downside would be the fact that the official app is only available in English. You'll find lots of information online about this smartband in different languages in online forums, Youtube, etc, though.
If you're interested, I can write a more detailed post about it once I've had the chance to test it more thoroughly.
At first I was more drawn to smartbands that had a display (clock function and so on), but the good ones cost more than I was ready to pay and all reviews said this was a great start to the wearables bandwagon.
Besides, it's really nondescript. See? Talk about every cloud having a silver lining!
It certainly drew attention at home. I've had to change my initial goal as it was too low and I reached it in no time.
By the way, one of my students has it too, though she paired it with her smartphone so she can get an alert every time she gets a whatsapp message and so on.

4- Here's a sneak peek at my first Vitacost order... You'll have to wait a bit to see it properly. The package arrived when we were out, so I asked my dad to collect it from the post office for me. If I didn't get to play with it myself, you don't stand a chance either. I have spoken! I gave a few things to Marian so she can test them too.

On a side note I'd like to apologize for not being able to update the blog more often. Unfortunately, one of my colleagues at work is a total pita and did not meet the agreed-on deadlines, as usual. Work has to come first in my priorities, you know.

Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry Haul

¡Hola de nuevo!

Aquí estamos una vez más dispuestas a enseñaros nuestras últimas compras.

1-  Tratamiento de peinado "Potion 9" de Sebastian (Marox): En junio, como premio por haber terminado un contrato con muucho trabajo, me fui a la peluquería. Mi pelo tenía falta de mimos y fui a una peluquería de la cadena Oh my Cut!. Allí, utilizaron sólo este producto para peinarme y me gustó mucho el resultado. Los rizos me aguantaron en buen estado unos cuantos días, con tan sólo mojarme el pelo un poco con las manos. Me dispuse a hacerme con este producto que suponía caro. Como decía el anuncio: Busque, compare y si encuentra algo mejor... ¡cómprelo!. Estuve investigando en varias tiendas online especializadas, así como en Bustillo, la tienda de productos de peluquería en la que solemos comprar: fijaros en la diferencia: por el envase de 500ml que véis en las fotos, en Bustillo me pedían 62€, mientras que en Ebay.es el vendedor Ketienda lo tiene por un total de 37,80€ (ya sumados los gastos de envío).
Me llegó un par de días después, por agencia, bien protegido en plástico de burbujas y con una muestra de una mascarilla capilar de Kerastase.
El vendedor es un salón autorizado para las dos marcas, así que muy satisfecha.
¡Como para no comparar precios! Lo uso una vez a la semana, como recomiendan, para que tampoco se me acostumbre el pelo al producto.

2- Crema corporal de maracuyá de Deliplús (Marox). Una de las novedades de la sección de perfumería de los supermercados Mercadona, de edición limitada presumiblemente, como ya pasara con las Fruit Fusion. Precio: unos 2€. Aún no he probado ésta, así que no os puedo contar mucho más.



3- Stick antirrozaduras de Deliplús (Marox).
Nunca he probado uno de estos. Hablan muy bien del de Essence, pero como aquí no traen la Show Your Feet, pues cogí éste. Aún no os puedo decir cómo va. Supuestamente, crea una película protectora que actúa de barrera y protege la piel de los pies de rozaduras. Precio: 2,50€. Es muy pequeñito para tanta caja, eso sí.

Ahora vais a ver los complementos que nos compramos en una feria de artesanía local.
Marox se compró este conjunto de anillo y colgante artesanales de cristal de Murano en tonos azules, y Marian este anillo en tonos dorados y cobrizos. Es de los artesanos de Lume Vidrio -os dejo el enlace a su web / tienda online *aquí* y a la de *Etsy* por si os interesan, aunque no veo los anillos, por ejemplo- con la técnica del vidrio soplete.Tenían una demostración en la propia feria de cómo los hacían... de lo más interesante y que reunió a mucha gente a su alrededor.
Nos encantaron en cuanto los vimos. El colgante o "lengua" es en el tamaño pequeño y costó 15€. Los anillos nos costaron 18€ cada uno.

Os enseñamos a continuación las últimas compritas (de complementos) que hicimos en nuestro querido mercadillo.

Estos pendientes que veis son de madera y no pesan nada, así que es una gozada llevarlos.
Marian compró éstos en morado y Marox compró los mismos en blanco y otros en rojo, y es que los pendientes de madera le encantan. Nos costaron 1€ el par.

Estos otros pendientes de abalorios también los compró Marian por 1€.
¿A que son monos?



Si es que no podemos salir de casa ni en domingo, porque gastamos dinero, jeje.

Here we are again ready to share with you our latest beauty-related purchases.

1- Potion 9 Styling Treatment from Sebastian: In June, after a month of hard work, I treated myself to a visit to the hairdresser's (I went to an 'Oh my Cut!' salon, btw). My hair was in serious need of some TLC. There, the stylist used only this product on my hair and my locks were curled and looking good for a few days. All I had to do is damp my hands with some water and fingercomb it. I liked the product enough to start searching for it online and in some brick & mortar stores like Bustillo, the local beauty supplies store where we usually get stuff from. There was an old TV add whose slogan was: 'Search, compare and if you find something better, just buy it!', so that's exactly what I did. I was shocked by the different prices for the product. Whereas Bustillo sold it for a whooping €62 (the 500ml bottle), I ended up ordering it from the Ebay.es seller Ketienda, which listed it at €37.80 (domestic shipping costs included).
I got it a couple of days later, was shipped through a shipping agency. It came in a box, protected by bubble wrap and the seller was kind enough to include a sample of a Kerastase hair mask. The seller is an authorised dealer & salon for both brands, so no worries there.



Note the importance of comparing prices. Shocking, isn't it? Anyway, I'm using P9 once a week as suggested, because I don't my hair to become used to the product.


2- Passion fruit body cream from Deliplus (Marox). One of the highlights within the Mercadona supermarkets' releases for the summer. Presumably, a LE item such as the Fruit Fusion ones were. Price: around €2. Haven't tried this one yet, so there's nothing else to say.

3- Anti chafing stick from Deliplus (Marox). I've never tried one of these. The Essence one gets lots of praise but sadly, the local Essence dealers don't carry the Show Your Feet line, so I grabbed this instead. This supposedly creates a barrier, with a protective film that alledgedly prevents the delicate skin on your feet from chafing. Price: €2.50. The stick is rather small in contrast to the size of its packaging.

Now you're about to see the accesories we bought at a local crafts fair.
Marox bought this set of handcrafted ring and pendant made of Murano glass in blue shades, and Marian bought her ring in gold and copper shades. They're crafted by Lume Vidrio - you can check out their website / online store *here*, as well as their *Etsy shop* if you're interested; though they don't seem to have the rings for starters- using the lampworking technique. They were demonstrating their work at the crafts fair and it was enough interesting to gather quite a large group of people.
We loved them at first sight. The pendant or 'tongue' we bought was in the smallest size available and was €15. We paid €18 for each ring.




Now we move on to our latest accesories purchases, bought at our beloved street market.

These earrings you're seeing are made of wood and are very lightweight, so it's a pleasure to wear them.
Marian bought these ones in purple, whereas Marox bought the same ones in white and in red, because she loves wood earrings.
They were €1 each.




And these bead earrings were purchased by Marian and were also only €1.
Don't you think they are super cute?

It seems we can't go out, not even on Sundays because we somehow spend money, lol.

Compras varias acumuladas (ropa y complementos) - Sundry haul (clothing and accesories).

Hola, chicas:
Hace poco os enseñábamos nuestras compras de productos para el cuidado capilar, facial, corporal y de maquillaje, y si recordáis, eran un montón, ¿verdad?
Pues bien, también hemos tirado la casa por la ventana en cuanto a ropa y complementos se refiere. Es que ni siquiera hemos esperado a las rebajas, aunque como veréis a continuación, nos han salido muy bien de precio.

Todo esto que vais a ver a continuación lo ha comprado Marian, aunque no todo va a ser para ella. Hay algunas cositas para Marox.

Empezamos con las compras hechas en una tienda local.

1. Vestido vaquero: 12,99€.
Tenía muchísimas ganas de tener un vestido vaquero. Es super ligero y muy cómodo. Trotero, como suelo decir.

 

2. Camiseta: 13,99€.
En color coral, tan de moda este verano, con topitos hechos de la misma tela.
Cuando la ví por primera vez, supe que tenía que ser mía. No os digo más.
La he combinado con vaqueros blancos, y queda genial.

3. Pantalón: 9,99€.
Nunca he tenido este tipo de pantalones, porque pensaba que no me quedarían bien, pero después de probármelos en la tienda, descubrí que estaba equivocada.
Son super fresquitos.
Por cierto, como veis, Molly no se pierde una sesión de fotos. Es más presumida...



4. Chal: 4,95€.
Como veis, tiene topitos en colores flúor, por lo que es muy alegre y fácil de combinar.
Además, por estas latitudes (y altitudes) es muy necesario, que por las noches refresca.

Y ahora os enseño las compras que hice en un mercadillo. No el de siempre (en el que hemos encontrado muchas gangas de maquillaje), sino uno temporal que pusieron durante las pasadas fiestas (San Pedro y San Pablo).

1. Camiseta: 13€.
Me gustó tanto la que compré para mí, que la ví en el puesto y decidí coger otra para Marox. Es en color coral también, pero más suave, con estampado de flores.



2 (y 3). Bolsos-búho: 12€ cada uno.
¿No os parecen una monada? La verdad es que son muy originales.
Tienen el tamaño adecuado para llevar lo imprescindible: gafas de sol, cartera, llaves, móvil..., y hasta el botellín de agua.



4. Vestido: 15€.
En realidad, es un 2 en 1, porque se puede llevar como falda (que llega hasta los tobillos), o como vestido.
A mí personalmente me gusta más como vestido.

Y esto ha sido todo por el momento.
Definitivamente nos hemos vuelto locas.
No sé si vamos a tener verano suficiente para ponernos toda la ropa de verano que tenemos.
Y es que, como dice una compañera de trabajo, el verano pasado cayó en miércoles.

We showed you our latest hair, face, body care and also make-up purchases a few days ago, and if you remember, they were a lot, weren't they?
OK, we've gone overboard again, regarding clothing and accesories.
We even haven't waited for the sales, although as you're about to see, they were at an affordable price.

All the stuff you're about to see now has been purchased by Marian, but not all for herself. There are a few things for Marox as well.

Let's get started with the purchases at a local store.

1. Denim dress: €12.99.
I really was after a dress like this one. It's super light and comfy. As I use to say, it's for everyday use.

2. T-Shirt: €13.99.
In a coral shade, totally in fashion this summer and with a 'polka dots' pattern made of the same fabric.
When I saw it for the first time, I knew it had to be mine. Full stop.
I've combined it with white jeans, and it looks great.



3. Pants: €9.99.
I've never had this kind of pants, because I always thought that they wouldn't suit me, but after trying them on at the store, I realised that I was wrong.
They are super fresh.
By the way, as you see, Molly didn't want to miss the photoshooting. She's such a poser...

4. Shawl: €4.95.
It has polka dots in neon shades that make it really cheerful and easy to combine.
Besides, at this latitude (and altitude) it's very much needed, because the temperature is usually cooler at night.



Now I'll move on to the stuff I bought at a street market. It's not the one we usually go to (where we've found so many make-up bargains), but a temporary one set up on the occasion of the town's festivities (St. Peter and St. Paul).

1. T-Shirt: €13.
I liked so much the one I bought for me, that I couldn't help buying another one for Marox.
It's also in a coral shade, but lighter than the other one, with a flower pattern.

2 (and 3). Owl-bags: €12 each.
Don't you think they're super cute? They're truly very original.
They're big enough to carry all your musts: sunglasses, wallet, keys, mobile..., and a small bottle of water.



4. Dress: €15.
It actually is a 2-in-1, because you can wear it either as a skirt (ankle-length), or as a dress.
Personally, I like it better as a dress.



And this is all for now.
We've definitely gone crazy.
I don't know if we'll have enough summer days to wear all the summer clothing we have.
A workmate of mine says that last summer was on a Wednesday.
