Parecidos razonables / Reasonable lookalikes: Catrice 'Berry Potter and Plumbledore' vs. W7 'Metallic Venus'.

Aquí estoy de nuevo con otra entrega de parecidos razonables.

En esta ocasión, os comparo los esmaltes "Berry Potter and Plumbledore" de Catrice, y "Metallic Venus" de W7.

No son clones exactos, pero son bastante similares. Quizá el tono de base del esmalte de Catrice sea más morado, y en el de W7 predominen los reflejos azulados.

No sé si serán iguales en cuanto a pigmentación, porque Marox aún no ha estrenado el esmalte de Catrice.
El esmalte de W7 tiene una cobertura más bien ligera. Hacen falta varias capas de esmalte para conseguir el color que vemos en el bote.

Ya empezamos a tener parecidos razonables incluso entre nuestros esmaltes de tonos "especiales".

Here I am again with a new post about reasonable lookalikes.

This time, I'm comparing the polishes 'Berry Potter and Plumbledore' from Catrice, and 'Metallic Venus' from W7.

Though they're not exact dupes, they're very similar.



Maybe the shade of the Catrice polish is more purple than the shade of the W7 polish, where the blue undertones are more noticeable.

I don't know if they will have the same pigmentation, as Marox has not tried this polish from Catrice yet.
The polish from W7 has quite a sheer coverage. Several layers of polish are needed to get the shade we see in the bottle.

We're already starting to have some reasonable lookalikes, even among our polishes in 'special shades'.

Parecidos razonables / Reasonable lookalikes: Wild and Crazy 'Amnesia' vs. China Glaze 'Awakening'.

Hacía muchísimo tiempo que no subía una entrada de este tipo. Seguro que ya las echábais de menos.

Pues bien. En esta ocasión vengo a compararos los esmaltes "Amnesia" de Wild and Crazy (que me regaló Marox) y el "Awakening" de China Glaze (que le he regalado a Marox por su cumpleaños).

No son clones exactos, como podéis ver en la foto, pero sí son bastante parecidos.
Probablemente, si los viérais por separado, no podríais distinguir uno de otro. Yo, al menos, creo que no podría.
El esmalte de Wild and Crazy tiene un tono lila con reflejos dorados, y el de China Glaze es un morado con subtono rosado, también con reflejos dorados.

¿Os gustan este tipo de esmaltes? Duocromos, con reflejos...

It's been ages since my last post of this kind. I'm sure you were missing them.

Well, this time I'm comparing the polishes 'Amnesia', from Wild and Crazy (which Marox gave me), and 'Awakening' from China Glaze (which I gave Marox for her birthday).

They're not exact dupes, as you can see in the pic, but they're really similar.
Probably, if you saw them separately, you couldn't make a difference between them. At least, I couldn't do it.



The polish from Wild and Crazy is in a lilac shade with golden reflections, and the China Glaze one is in a purple shade with pinky undertones, also with golden reflections.

Comparativa / Side by Side comparison – Models Own 'Mystic Mauve' vs. Essence #59 'Purple Diamond'

Hacía tiempo que no hacíamos una comparativa, así que hoy venimos con dos esmaltes, uno de Essence de la extinta gama Multidimension y el otro de la marca Models Own y que conseguimos gracias a nuestro intercambio con Sarahlouise del blog Spellbindingnails.

It's been a while since we last did an in-depth comparison, so here we are with two polishes, an Essence from the now defunct Multdimension line and the other from Models Own, kindly sent to us as part of a swap with the lovely Sarahlouise from Spellbindingnails.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de la base selladora de Essence. En la mano izquierda, aplico el esmalte de Models Own en el pulgar, corazón y meñique. En la derecha, lo aplico en el índice y anular. El de Essence, en el índice y anular de la izquierda y en el pulgar, corazón y meñique derechos. Como ya es tarde, una capita de SV encima.

La diferencia entre ambos esmaltes es muy sutil y la aplicación similar, con una capa generosa basta para cubrir perfectamente nuestras uñas.

Day 1: At night, I apply one coat of the Essence sealing base. On my left hand, I applied the Models Own lacquer on my thumb, middle and pinky. On my right, on the pointer and ring finger. The Essence, on my left pointer and ring and on my right thumb, middle and pinky. To avoid nasty surprises in the morning, a coat of SV on top.

The difference between the two is very subtle and applicationwise these are comparable too. One generous coat will do to cover our nails perfectly.

Día 2: Esta mañana, sin haber hecho nada especial, tengo un desconchón en el pulgar derecho (pintado con el de Essence) y poco después otro más pequeño en el dedo corazón derecho, que también lleva el esmalte de Essence. Más tarde tengo desconchones en la mano izquierda y los de la derecha se notan bastante.

Day 2: In the morning, without having done anything out of the ordinary, I have a chip on my right thumb (wearing the Essence polish) and shortly afterwards a smaller one on my right middle finger, also wearing 'Purple Diamond' from Essence.

Me lo quito el día 3 por la mañana, ya que se me saltó prácticamente entero el esmalte en el pulgar derecho. La única explicación que encuentro a la escasa duración de esta manicura es la base que he usado en esta ocasión.

I took it off on day 3 in the morning, as practically the entire polish on my right thumb peeled off. The only explanation I can think of regarding the poor wear of this mani is the base I used this time.

Puesto que el de Essence ya no está disponible, el de Models Own será un buen sustituto. Por cierto, que el 'Purple Diamond' sirve para estampar. No he tenido ocasión de probar con el 'Mystic Mauve' de Models Own.

Since the Essence is not available any more, this one from Models Own will be a good substitute. Btw, 'Purple Diamond' can be used for stamping, but I haven't tried 'Mystic Mauve' for that purpose just yet.

Hacía tiempo que no os traía una comparativa, así que hoy le ha tocado el turno a dos preciosos esmaltes morados. El de China Glaze, fue cortesía de Iris *aquí* y el Minicolorama se vino conmigo desde Tallin. Como véis, han sido dos esmaltes viajeros, jeje.

It's been a while since my last comparison post, so let me show you two gorgeous purple polishes today. Meet China Glaze 'Urban Night', courtesy of sweet Iris *here* and the Minicolorama was one of my souvenirs from Tallinn. As you can see, I have two travelling lacquers for you, lol.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de Nail Envy y después en la mano izquierda el Urban Night de China Glaze. Aplico dos capas, para conseguir una cobertura óptima. En el índice la primera capa me salió más gruesa y me vale con una. En la mano derecha, aplico una capa generosa del 'Dark Plum' del Minicolorama. No aplico Seche Vite, ya que tenía en mente una estampación coordinada -que luego no hice-, aunque quizá habría sido lo mejor, ya que pasadas unas horas tengo marcas en las dos manos. El color es clavadito.


Day 1: At night, I apply one coat of Nail Envy and then 'Urban Night' from CG. I gave it two coats for full opacity. My index got a thicker coat and I could get away with just one. In my right hand, I apply a generous coat of 'Dark Plum' from Maybelline's Minicoloramas. No Seche Vite, as I had a coordinated stamping in mind -that eventually never did- though I should have, as a few hours later I have tiny marks in both hands. These are perfect dupes, imo.

Día 3: Sesión de fotos. En la mano derecha ya se ven las puntas un poco desgastadas.

Day 3: Photoshoot. My right hand shows some signs of tipwear.

Día 4: Después de ducharme, aguantaron bastante bien, así que apuro esta manicura un poco más, hasta el día siguiente.

Day 4: After washing my hair, it's still doing good, so I stretch this mani a bit longer, to the following day.

Cuando me lo quito al día siguiente, se me manchan un poco las uñas, aunque quizá podría haberme esmerado un poco más para que no pasara -era tarde y casi ni veía, jeje-.


When I took this off the following day, my nails got stained a bit, though I could probably made more effort to prevent it- was late and I could barely see what I was doing!, lol.

Comparativa / Side-by-side comparison: Essence '#53 All Access' vs. China Glaze 'Emerald Fitzgerald'

Hace tiempo que no os traigo una comparativa en profundidad. En este caso la hago entre dos esmaltes de mi colección: el de Essence -que os enseñé hace poco en *este* post, lamentablemente hará unos dos años que fue retirado, mientras que el de China Glaze todavía podéis encontrarlo por Internet. El mío lo compré usado (casi nuevo) en Ebay España.

It's been a while since my last side-by-side comparison. This time I'm doing it with two polishes from my own collection: unfortunately the Essence polish that I shared with you *here* is long discontinued -at least two years- whereas the China Glaze lacquer is still available from e-retailers. I got mine (used, almost brand new) from Ebay Spain.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de base de Basic. En la izq. una capa del All Access en el pulgar, corazón y meñique, que aplico también en la derecha en los dedos índice y anular -donde al ser más espeso, se me rebela un poco en el lateral.

El de China Glaze lo aplico en la izq en el índice y anular, pero necesita dos capas o al menos capas más gruesas que el de Essence. En la dcha, el de China Glaze en pulgar, corazón y meñique, que de nuevo necesita capas más gruesas para conseguir un acabado uniforme.

Son muy, muy parecidos, aunque quizá el de China Glaze tiene un puntito azul, que hace que el tono verde del de Essence sea más intenso.

Day 1: At night, I apply one coat of my Basic basecoat. One coat of All Access in my left thumb, middle and pinky, also applied in my right index and ring fingers – I did have some problems on the side with it being thicker.

China Glaze is applied therefore onto my left index and ring fingers, but it takes two coats or at least thicker coats than the Essence. On the right hand, it is applied onto my thumb, middle and pinky, again needing thicker coats to get rid of bald spots.

These are very, very similar, though the CG one has blue undertones making the green in the Essence polish stand out more.

Día 4: Está aguantando bastante bien, ya que no llevo SV. El día anterior tocó mañana de limpieza y tengo algún pequeño desconchón en las uñas de la mano derecha, pero no se notan demasiado. Me lo quito ese día.

Day 4: This is holding up quite well, as I'm not wearing SV. After a house cleaning session the day before, my right hand shows some minor chipping, but not very noticeable. Took it off on Day 4.

Pink Wednesday - Strawberry Fields (China Glaze) vs. Big Spender Wanted (Catrice)

Hoy vengo con mi segundo "miércoles rosa" y os traigo una nueva comparativa de dos esmaltes que ya os habíamos presentado como parte de nuestros “Parecidos Razonables” y que tenía preparada desde hace algunas semanas. Se trata del 'Strawberry Fields' de China Glaze -que compré en un lote de tres esmaltes usados en Ebay España- y el 'Big Spender Wanted' de Catrice, que me traje de Berlín. El primero es de mi hermana y el segundo es mío, por lo que digamos que el tener dos colores prácticamente iguales duele un poco menos.




I'm back with my second 'Pink Wednesday' nails and another in-depth comparison of two lacquers that were included on a previous 'Reasonable Lookalikes' post. I actually wrote this a couple of weeks ago.
Meet 'Strawberry Fields' from China Glaze -which I bought as part of a set of 3 used polishes from Ebay Spain- and 'Big Spender Wanted' from Catrice, that came all the way home with me from Berlin. The first one belongs to Marian and the other is mine, so you can say that makes having two very close shades hurt a little less.

Día 1: Después de comer, aplico una capa de la base de P2 y una vez seca aplico en la mano izquierda dos capas -la 1ª generosa- de SF en el pulgar, corazón y meñique y también el índice y anular de la derecha. En los dedos restantes, aplico una capa generosa del de Catrice. Quise hacer lo mismo con el de ChG, pero finalmente puse dos para conseguir una cobertura uniforme. Con el de Catrice, lo he conseguido a la primera, por lo que para mí en eso supera al de China Glaze. No aplico Seche Vite, para poder ser más imparcial y comparar también el brillo que tienen de por sí. Se aprecian algunas diferencias: los brillos dorados del SF son más grandes que el de Catrice, que da la impresión de que los tiene más integrados, yo diría que es como que forman parte del propio esmalte. El tono de base es muy similar, pero el de ChG se me hace más llamativo y también tiene más brillo. Se podría decir que el brillo del BSW es más apagado.




Day 1: Right after lunch, I applied my P2 base coat and once it's dry I gave two coats -the first one rather generous- of SF to my left thumb, middle and pinky, as well as to my right index and ring fingers. The rest got one generous layer of the Catrice. I tried to do the same with the ChG one, but eventually had to give two to get an even coverage. I got that with the Catrice on my first attempt, so the Catrice is a winner there. I didn't apply any Seche Vite so as to not to distort the end result in any way and give an honest opinion regarding glossiness when bare. A couple of differences can be observed already: the golden shimmer particles on SF are bigger than those of the Catrice, which seems to have the gold incorporated into the polish itself. The base colour is very similar, but the ChG seems more in-your-face to me. I would say SF is glossier or maybe BSW has a more muted-glossiness, so to speak.

Día 2: Pequeñísimo desconchón en el índice de la mano derecha (SF), por la tarde.
Día 3: El desconchón se ha hecho un poquito más grande, pero ninguna queja.
Day 2: Tiny chip on my right index (SF), in the afternoon.
Day 3: Chipping is now a bit bigger, but no complaints really.




Día 4: Tras una mañana de cocinillas, el desconchón ya se nota más, pero el resto de uñas sólo tienen el típico desgaste en las puntas. Muy contenta, teniendo en cuenta que no llevo topcoat alguno. A media tarde, retoco un poco las puntas para después estrenar el crackling negro de P2.
Día 5: Por la mañana -día en que hacemos el sorteo, por cierto- , mini desconchón en el dedo corazón de la mano derecha. Está aguantando muy bien. A mediodía ya tengo algún desconchón más en la mano derecha, curiosamente en los laterales y no en las puntas en sí.




Day 4: After spending the morning in the kitchen, chipping is more noticeable, but the only thing I can notice on the other nails is the usual tipwear. Very pleased with these, considering I have no topcoat on whatsoever. In the afternoon I gave my nails a touch-up so I could use my P2 crackling in black for the first time.
Day 5: In the morning -giveaway draw day, btw- I have a tiny chip on my right middle finger. It's holding up fine. In the afternoon I can see other chipped nails in my right hand, but on the sides rather than on the tips which would have been what one would expect.

RdL #51 / Catrice #230 'Clay-ton my Hero': Comparativa - Side by side comparison

En nuestra serie de parecidos razonables, ya os hemos enseñado varios esmaltes muy similares, si bien la comparación la hacíamos viendo el bote y una muestra en la rueda *aquí*. Me apetecía hacer una comparativa más en profundidad como he visto en muchos otros blogs -Sasha tiene algunas muy buenas. Creo que de esta manera, podréis apreciar mejor las diferencias -que las hay- aunque no son lo suficientemente grandes como para no haber podido lucir las uñas pintadas en distintos colores. Tampoco he querido añadir nada que pudiera desvirtuar la comparación -es el caso de un brillo secante como puede ser el Seche Vite. No llevo más que lo imprescindible, una base para proteger mi uña. He intentado aplicar la misma cantidad de los dos esmaltes, aunque sí que me dio la sensación de que fui algo más generosa con el Clayton.

Como la descripción de matices en los colores no es lo mío, dejaré que sean las fotos las que hablen en la medida de lo posible.

Las fotos -éstas y la mayoría de las que tenemos en el blog- están hechas de día, con luz natural indirecta. Están hechas con la Nikon D3000 -réflex- de mi hermana, con la compensación de flash activada, para intentar reflejar los colores lo mejor posible pero sin el flashazo típico de otras cámaras que no permiten regular la intensidad del disparo del flash.

In our Reasonable lookalikes series we've shown you several polishes that are very similar to one another already, but just gave you a bottle and nailwheel comparison *here*. I felt like doing a more comprehensive comparison as I've often seen in other blogs – Sasha has some excellent ones. I think you'll get to see the differences -yes, there are- better, though they're not too different to make sporting nails painted with two different colours odd.

I didn't want to add any extras that could distort the comparison -as a high shine quick-drying topcoat like Seche Vite would. I'm not wearing anything that wasn't essential, like a protecting base coat. I tried to apply the same amount of polish, but I think I might have been a little bit more generous with my Clay-ton.

As I've never been very good at describing colours or nuances, I'll let the pictures do the talking as much as I can.

As most pictures in this blog, photos were taken in daylight, with indirect light. They were done with my sister's Nikon D3000 DSLR, with the flash compensation setting on so as to better capture the colours without the blinding flash or overexposed/burned image you would get with a standard camera.

Día 1: A mediodía aplico una capa de base de P2. Mano izquierda: Pulgar, corazón y meñique -RdL. Indice y anular – Clay-ton. Derecha: Clay-ton en pulgar, corazón y meñique. RdL en indice y anular. Sin Seche Vite. Los dos tienen mucho brillo de por sí. Secan bastante rápido, en unos diez minutos aproximadamente. El de Catrice es algo más cubriente, aunque en los dos se adivina la línea de la uña y la capa de Clay-ton fue más cargadita.

Day 1 -At midday I apply one coat of P2's 'Base and Care Coat'. Left hand: thumb, middle finger and pinky -one coat of RdL. Left index and ring finger with Clay-ton, that I also apply on my right thumb, middle finger and pinky. No Seche Vite, but both are quite shiny all on their own and drying time was good as well. The Catrice is more opaque, though both leave slightly VNL and I might have applied a heavier coat of Clay-ton.

Día 3: Por la mañana, pequeñísimo desconchón en el dedo índice de la mano derecha (RdL). Está aguantando como un campeón, teniendo en cuenta que no usé SV.

Day 3: Tiny chipping on my right index (RdL). This mani is holding up like a champ, as if you remember I had no SV or topcoat of any sort on it.

Tuve el examen oral de alemán hace unas horas. Yo creo que me ha salido muy bien. Ahora, a esperar las notas.

I had my German Speaking test a few hours ago. I think I did well. Now, I'll have to wait until the results come out.
