PDLS / POTW - Opi 'A Little Guilt Under the Kilt'

Hola chicas:   Ya falta menos para la primavera. Por aquí hemos tenido algún día muy agradable, pero mejor no confiarse, que todavía tiene que venir frío. Ya hace un año del confinamiento, y aunque alguna gente ya se ha vacunado, no podemos bajar la guardia.     Hoy me gustaría compartir con vosotras una pedicura usando un esmalte de la colección de Escocia que compré en Primaprix a finales de otoño. Aunque no me suelen durar demasiado los esmaltes de esta marca, como lo he usado en los pies en esta ocasión no es un problema.     Como siempre, utilicé una capa de base y rematé con una de topcoat, puesto que algunos esmaltes al secar pierden algo de brillo. Como esperaba, la duración al tratarse de una pedicura fue buena.    ¿Tenéis ganas de que llegue la primavera? ¿Y de poneros la vacuna? Contadnos en los comentarios.

Hi girls,   Spring will soon be here, and we've already had some warm weather, though we're still expecting cold weather here, so let's not be reckless. It's also been a year since lockdown and although some folks have had their Covid shots, we mustn't lower our guard.   Today I'd like to share with you a pedi using one of the polishes from the Scotland OPI nail polish collection, which I bought in late autumn from a local discount supermarket, Primaprix. Although I have mixed feelings regarding this brand, since I was going to use that on a pedi, short wear time wasn't a big deal.        As always, I used both a base and a topcoat, as some polishes lose some shine when dry. UDLS / NOTW - Opi Fan Favorites Set

¡Ya estamos en verano! Y ¿qué mejor forma de celebrarlo que compartiendo algo con vosotras?

Recordaréis que en una visita que hice a ese antro de perdición llamado *Primaprix*, encontré un set de esmaltes de OPI, y como mi cumple estaba cerca, me lo autorregalé.

Ya no recuerdo qué base o topcoat utilicé, probablemente una base de Essence y como topcoat creo que una de Revlon.



Al día siguiente de pintármelas, se me peló un buen trozo de una de las uñas que pinté con el tono 'Canyon Sunset'. En cuanto a duración, me temo que me reafirmo en la sensación de que los esmaltes de OPI están sobrevalorados. No puedo evitar recordar lo bien que me resultó el esmalte de WetnWild que compré hace unos meses. Las comparaciones son odiosas.
OPI gana en variedad de tonos y acabados por goleada, pero en cuanto a duración, me parecen muy normalitos.

¿Habéis probado esmaltes de marcas de alta gama? ¿Os resultan mejores que otros más económicos?

It's summer at last!! And there's no better way to celebrate than to share a post with you.

You may remember that on a recent visit to my favourite evil den, outlet supermarket Primaprix, I found a set of OPI minis and since my birthday was fast approaching I got my greedy hands on it.

I didn't write down which base or topcoat I used, but it was probably an Essence base and a Revlon topcoat.

The day after doing my nails, a big chunk on one of the ones I painted with the shade 'Canyon Sunset' came right off.
As for wear, I get the feeling and this seems to prove it that OPI polishes are somewhat overrated. I can't help to remember how good the WetnWild polish I bought this year -my first- turned out to be.
OPI may win hands down the battle when it comes to shade variety and finishes, but I feel they're a bit lacking wear-wise.

Have you tried any high-end polishes? Do they perform better for you than more affordable ones?

Mis regalos y autorregalos de cumpleaños / My birthday gifts and gifts to self 2020

Hola, chicas:

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros los regalos de mi cumpleaños, inusual como pocos por culpa de la cuarentena y del "bicho".
Empiezo con los regalos de mi hermana. Mis padres me dieron -suficiente para el regalo estrella-.
Dadas las circunstancias actuales, creo que me he portado muy bien. 

1 - Pendientes de macramé, hechos por Marian: Ya sabéis lo mañosa que es mi hermana. Los he usado ya un par de veces.

2- Marcapáginas de encaje de bolillos, hecho también por Marian. Me da un poco de miedo que lo pesque Luna, mi gata, porque con el trabajo que le habrá llevado lo puede destrozar en un segundo.


3 - Colgante 'Arbol de la vida': Fue regalo de mis padres, de una tienda local que por desgracia cerraba. La cadena no es la que traía (era más finita), porque se me enganchó y con joyerías cerradas por el confinamiento no he podido repararla aún.

4 - Teléfono Samsung M30s: Mi teléfono empezaba a acusar la falta de espacio casi todos los días y prefiero jubilarlo funcionando por si en el futuro nos hace falta temporalmente a alguien en casa.
Aunque inicialmente me decantaba más por el A40 (con una pantalla más modosa), costaba lo mismo que éste. El M30s tiene mucha más batería -6000mAh-, mejor cámara -48 megapixels, ahí es nada- y tenía mejor relación calidad precio.
Este modelo lo vende *Amazon* en exclusiva. Me costó 199,99€. Está disponible en tres colores: negro, azul y blanco, que es el que yo escogí.
Hasta que me ha llegado la funda que he comprado en Aliexpress, lo he usado sobre todo en casa y con mucho cuidado. También le he colocado un protector de cristal templado, como suelo hacer.
Me costó Dios y ayuda meterle la microSD, por cierto. La conexión Wifi falla de vez en cuando. Quizá lo solucionen con algún parche.


5 - Lote esmaltes OPI 'Fan Favorites': Lo compré en... *Primaprix*, cómo no, al módico precio de 9,95€.Trae 5 productos en tamaño mini: una base y un topcoat y tres esmaltes en tonos rojizos / rosas. Ya lo he probado, así que no tardaréis en verlos en alguna entrada.



6 - CD de Roxette 'Look Sharp' reeedición 30 aniversario. Lo compré -nuevo- en Ebay al vendedor *turncircle*. Fue su segundo disco (el primer trabajo de ellos que se conoció fuera de Suecia)

7 -CD 'Pebble to a Pearl' de Nikka Costa: También comprado en Ebay -esta vez usado- al vendedor *thecotswoldlibrary*. Se trata de la edición europea de un disco editado en 2008. ¡Cómo pasa el tiempo! Tengo ya la edición americana, que me compré al poco de editarlo, pero la tengo en nuestra otra casa... y como lo encontré a buen precio, pues me di el capricho de 'tenerlo repe'. Han tardado en llegar -lo hicieron los 2 cds el mismo día-, como es lógico en estas circunstancias.
Está perfecto, así que tendré en cuenta a este vendedor en el futuro.

¿Compráis todavía música en formato físico? ¿Y distintas versiones o ediciones de un mismo disco?

Como no podría ser menos, os dejo con un poco de música. Se trata de 'The Voice' la que fue cara B del single de 'Dressed for Success' cuando se editó en su día.

Today I'd like to share with you my birthday gifts. Many of this year's birthdays will go down in history as the most unusual one we're likely to ever have since many of us spent those in lockdown because of the 'bug'.
I'll start with what I got from my sister. My parents gave me money -enough for my biggest splurge-.

1 - Macramé earrings, made by Marian: You know how crafty my sister is. I've worn them a couple of times already.

2 - Bookmark made of bobbin lace by Marian. I fear what my cat, Luna, could do to it if given the chance, especially considering how time-consuming making this piece must have been.

3 - 'Tree of Life' Pendant: It was a present from my parents. They got this from a local shop that was sadly closing down. 
The chain is not the one it came with, because it got torn and I could not have it repaired since jewellers are closed off because of the lockdown.

4 - Samsung M30s: My phone was nagging me almost every day with different 'not enough storage' pop-up messages and I'd rather get a new one while the old one still works, in case anyone at home has to ever use it as a back-up occasionally.
Although my first choice was the A40 -with a smaller, more manageable screen size - it was the same price as this. The M30s has a much bigger battery -6000 mAh-, better camera - a mind-blowing 48 megapixels - and was better value for money.
This model is an *Amazon* exclusive. It retailed at €199.99. It is available in three colours: black, blue and white, which was the one I went for.
Until I got the case I ordered from Aliexpress, I was very careful using this, mostly only at home. I have fitted it with a tempered glass screen protector, as I always do.
I had a hard time inserting the microSD card, btw.
The Wifi connection is sometimes lost. Hopefully they'll fix it with a patch or an update.

 


5- OPI 'Fan Favorites' set: I got this from... Primaprix. Hardly surprising, is it? This retailed at €9.95 and comes with 5 minis: a base, a top coat and three shades in the reddish/pinkish range. I've tried it already, so it probably won't take me long to share that with you.

6 - Roxette's 'Look Sharp' 30th anniversary re-release CD: Bought it new off Ebay, from seller *turncircle*. It was the band's second album (the first one for those of us outside Sweden).

7 -'Pebble to a Pearl' CD album by Nikka Costa: Again, got it off Ebay, from seller *thecotswoldlibrary*. This was used and it is the European edition of an album originally released back in 2008. Lord, how time flies!. I have the US release at our other home that I bought shortly after it came out, but this was very reasonably priced so I got my hands on it, even if it's something, in essence, I already have.
It took a long time to get here, understandable considering the current circumstances. Strangely enough, I received both the same day.
It is in excellent condition, so I'll definitely keep an eye on this seller in the future.

Do you still buy music in an actual, hard copy?
And what about different versions, editions and releases of the same album?

And I just had to finish today's post with some music. Feast your ears on 'The Voice' the B-side to the single 'Dressed for Success' back in the day.

UDLS / NOTW: OPI 'Mod About You'

Ando bastante atareada últimamente, puesto que estamos de exámenes, pero os dejo con una manicura en la que os enseño el otro esmalte que venía en el kit #Make it iconic que vino de regalo con la revista Elle España hace un par de meses. Regalo que, cosa rara, llegó aquí a Castilla y León.

Día 1: Me aplico una capa de la base de Essence 'Anti Split Nail Sealer'. Pasados un par de minutos, aplico una primera capa de este esmalte. Al ser de acabado pastel, cuesta bastante que quede uniforme, más aún que con el tono tierra que ya había utilizado anteriormente.
Dejo pasar unos minutos y doy una segunda capa, que también cuesta que quede uniforme y sin arrastrar el esmalte.
Creo que este pintauñas funcionará mejor en pedicuras.

Espero unos minutos y vuelvo a usar el esmalte de Essence para proteger la manicura. De nuevo, no conseguí abrir el 'Start to Finish' que venía en un segundo ejemplar que compré. Probé a abrirlo otro día y sí que lo logré, pero está claro que me es imposible hacerlo en plena manicura.

La manicura me ha durado 5 días. Soportó un lavado de pelo y varios días de limpieza. Las uñas que peor estaban eran las del índice y corazón de la mano derecha. El resto, intactas. Supongo que se nota el usar esmaltes buenos -léase, caros- en lo que a duración se refiere.

I'm quite busy lately, since it's exam season at work, but here's a mani featuring the other shade that came in the #Make it iconic mini set that was a recent freebie with Elle magazine Spain. Strangely enough, it made it to the region I live in, Castille.

Day 1: I applied a coat of the Essence 'Anti Split Nail Sealer'. A few minutes later, I gave my nails a coat of this polish. Being a pastel, it is hard to get an even coverage -even more difficult than with the brown shade in the set-. I waited a couple minutes before giving my nails a second coat that again was a pain to apply, as this was just too streaky.
I feel this polish will be put to better use for pedis in the future.

After a few minutes I used the Essence product again to protect my nails. Again, I failed at opening the bottle of 'Start to Finish' was came with a second magazine I bought.
I tried to open that on a different day and I succeeded then, but apparently that's something I just can't do while doing my nails.

I wore this mani for 5 days. I washed my hair and strangely enough, it survived. Same with some deep cleaning. The only nails that had significant damage were the ones on my right hand, index and middle finger, but the rest looked like on Day 1.
I guess it goes to show that using good-quality polishes -i.e., pricey ones- does pay off in terms of longevity.

Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry Haul 2019 (VI)

¡Hola chicas!

Ya pasó la nochebuena, ya estamos comiendo turrón y en nada estaremos tomando las uvas y brindando por el nuevo año.
Pero mientras tanto, hoy nos gustaría enseñarnos lo que hemos comprado últimamente.

1 - Revista Glamour, noviembre 2019 (marox): Como no, he vuelto a picar con las cositas de The Body Shop.
El tamaño grande, por 3,50€ trae tres geles de baño en formato de 250ml, que en tienda cuestan 7€. En mi ciudad, la revista pequeña trae cremas de manos en formato grande (me están tentando).
Como véis, de momento he cogido el gel de argán, gama que nunca había probado ya que nunca está rebajada.
Un par de días después cogí el tamaño pequeño, con las cremas. Ahora sí que tengo crema de manos para mí y para toda la familia para una buena temporada: ya tengo todas las que han salido en distintos números de la revista. En tienda cuestan 12€.
Aquí no llegó el pack de la Hola con las cosas de Rituals ni la minitalla del aceite de Nuxe con la Elle Pocket. La máscara de Benefit con la Woman sí, pero no me llamaba mucho la atención por casi 5 euros.



2 -  Mascarillas 'Baby Pet Magic Sheet Mask' de Holika Holika (marox): Las compré, como no, en *Primaprix*. Las tenían junto a la caja, con una promoción de 2x1, puesto que caducaban en noviembre. Por ese motivo, me he llevado las dos por 1,50€.
En breve, las veréis en un post de terminados.



3 - Perfilador automático de Essence de larga duración, '01 - Black Fever' (marox): Hace poco se me terminó el que tenía de P2, así que como no tengo acceso a la marca, lo he sustituido por éste de Essence, que suelen dar buen resultado. No me gustan los lapiceros tradicionales y siempre busco que sean automáticos. No llegan a 2€, así que por ese precio no se les puede pedir más.

4 - Bálsamo limpiador en textura sorbete de naranja de Aromatica (marox): Me va quedando poco del de ENature y me he decantado por éste, que trae bastante más cantidad, tiene una buena composición y está muy bien de precio. Lo compré, como siempre, por Ebay, en concreto al vendedor *iamloveshop*.



5 - Mascarilla Hair Food Papaya de Garnier: (marox) 5,49€ en supermercados Lupa, aunque quizá la podáis encontrar más barata, pues la venden en muchos sitios.
Se puede utilizar como mascarilla prelavado y sin aclarado. La llevo usando unas cuantas veces y de momento me está gustando.


6 - Revista Glamour grande, diciembre 2019 (marox): Me cogí este tono, que era más ponible que el otro que había llegado al kiosko, un azul muy extraño. El tono es el 'Good Vibes Only' de la colección Neons.
 Lo veréis en una próxima manicura.
La revista tiene un precio de 3,50€ y esta marca aquí en España es bastante cara, así que no está mal. Intenté pillar algún otro tono, pero no vi ninguno que mereciera la  pena.
El tamaño pequeño aquí venía con un *spray de keratina* de laboratorios Valquer, pero contiene alcohol entre los primeros ingredientes, así que lo dejé pasar.

Christmas Eve has gone by and in no time we Spaniards will be having the lucky grapes and toasting for the new year. 
But in the meantime, we'd like to show you what we've bought lately.

1 - Glamour magazine, November 2019 issue (marox): Yes, of course I gave in and got my greedy hands on those The Body Shop freebies.
The larger magazine comes with three different 250ml shower gels for just €3.50, which retail at €7.
The smaller issue, at least here, came with the large hand creams (so tempting...)
As you see, so far I got the Argan one, making it the first time I get to use anything from said line, as it never has a discount.
A couple of days later I grabbed the pocket edition that in my area included a hand cream. I can now safely say that I got enough of those for a good while, not only for myself, but for the whole family. I have all the creams that were available as different freebies. The creams retail at €12.
As for other magazines, the Spanish issue of Hello magazine with the Rituals goodies didn't make it here, nor did Elle Pocket with the mini Nuxe oil.  Woman magazine had a Benefit mascara that did make it here, but at €5 it didn't seem such a bargain.

2 -  Holika Holika 'Baby Pet Magic Sheet Mask' (marox): You guessed it, I got them from... *Primaprix*. They were very sneakily placed beside the checkout and were part of a BOGO deal, since the expiration date was November. That's why I scored this 2 for 1 deal at only €1.50.
Expect to see these again soon in an Empties blogpost.

3 - Essence longlasting automatic Eye Pencil '01 - Black Fever' (marox): I recently used up the P2 one I'd been using and since I cannot repurchase that I got this from Essence. This line works really well and just shy of €2, it is great value for money. I can't stand traditional eye pencils and always go for twist-up ones like these.



4 - Aromatica Orange Cleansing Sherbet (marox): I'm running out of the ENature one I'm currently using and chose this to replace it. It is much bigger than the other, has a good ingredient list and has great bang for your buck. As always, I got it off Ebay, from seller *iamloveshop*.

5 - Hair Food Papaya Garnier Hair Mask (marox): I got this from a local supermarket, Lupa, for €5.49, and you can probably get it for less, as these are widely available.
It can be used as a pre-wash treatment and a leave-in. I've used this a couple of times and so far, so good.



6 - Glamour Spain, December 2019 issue, large (marox):  I picked this shade, as it was more wearable than the other one my newsagent's got, an odd blue shade. It's shade 'Good Vibes Only' from the Neons Collection.
You will soon see it featured in a recent mani.
This month's issue retails at €3.50 and OPI is a high-end brand at a high-end price here in Spain, so it wasn't so bad. I tried to get  another shade, but there was none I liked.
The pocket-sized edition's freebie was *this* keratin spray from Valquer, which contains alcohol quite high on the Inci list, so I let it go.

UDLS / NOTW: Catrice 'Bohemia LE - Yes, You Tan' & OPI 'Tiramisu for Two'

Hacía una eternidad que no traía una manicura al blog, aunque sea una rápida sin pretensiones como la que os traigo.
Me apetecía estrenar alguno de los esmaltes de OPI que vinieron con la revista Elle de octubre. Los vistéis de pasada en nuestra última entrada de compras acumuladas, *aquí*.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de la base 'Anti split nail sealer', que ignoro si se sigue vendiendo. Después, en todas las uñas menos en una de cada mano, apliqué dos capas del esmalte de Catrice, esperando un par de minutos entre capa y capa.
En las uñas restantes, llevo dos capas del esmalte de OPI. Como todos los tonos pastel, hay que tener paciencia al aplicarlo para no arrastrar el color.
Pasado un rato, quise aplicar una capa del 'Start to Finish' de OPI, que vino también en la misma promoción... pero me resultó imposible abrir el botecito. Me conformé con aplicar otra capa del de Essence, que era lo único que tenía a mano.

Creo que me duró tres días. Como curiosidad, las uñas que llevaban el esmalte de OPI estaban intactas, no así las otras.

¿Habéis picado con las últimas revistas? Los regalos que traen han mejorado un montón. Yo estaba ya harta de tanta agenda y demás que traían hace años.

It's been a lifetime since my last mani on the blog, even a quick, unpretentious one like this.
I really wanted to try the OPI minis that were an Elle freebie in October.
They were featured in our most recent Sundry Haul post *here*.

Day 1: At night, I applied a coat of the Essence 'Anti split nail sealer'. I have no idea whether it is still available. Anyway, I then applied two coats of the Catrice polish on all nails except two accent nails, allowing them to dry for a couple minutes between coats.
My other nails sported two coats of the OPI shade. Like all pastels, it is streaky and requires some patience on application.
After a few minutes, I wanted to top it with a coat of OPI's 'Start to Finish' that I got as another magazine freebie with the same issue... but I was unable to get it open. I settled for applying another coat of the same Essence stuff I'd used earlier, which was the only one I had in hand.

I think this lasted on my nails for three days. Funnily enough, the OPI polish was still in mint condition unlike the other nails.

Have you bought any magazines lately? Spanish ones have really stepped up their game, giving stuff other than planners that honestly, have never been my cup of tea and were the only thing they seemed to include years ago.

Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry Haul 2019 (V).

Aquí estoy para enseñaros mis últimas compras.

1 - Revista Elle pocket, octubre (marox): Por 1,95 merecía hacerse con ella, puesto que traía un pack de dos esmaltes mini de OPI. El mío venía con cajita, con los nombres de cada esmalte. He visto por Internet que en otros sitios los esmaltes venían únicamente en una bandejita interior de plástico, sin nombres ni nada.
No descarto hacerme con algún ejemplar más, si es que quedan.

2 - Revista Glamour pocket, octubre (marox): Un poquito más cara que la anterior, por 2,50€ teníamos la revista Glamour. La versión grande traía un champú de Yves Rocher, creo recordar. A mí me gustó más el regalo de la versión pequeña, con la minimanteca de The Body Shop. Como véis, yo cogí la de mango, aunque a los kioskos locales llegó también la de Berry BonBon que ya vino en un número anterior.




3 - Perfilador ojos retráctil marrón de Essence, tono #02 Hot Chocolate (marox): Se trata de una reposición, ya que gasté el que estaba usando. Da satisfacción poder terminar productos de maquillaje, ¿verdad?
Lo compré en un supermercado Alimerka, que tiene stand de Essence.

4 - Paleta 'Comfort Zone' de Wet n Wild: Hablando de supermercados, he descubierto que en LUPA tienen stand de Wet'nWild. Para mi sorpresa, les quedaba aún una de estas paletas así que no lo dudé. Los muebles de Wet'nWild de Arenal, suelen estar arrasados.
Aunque tengo la versión antigua de esta paleta, está ya algo maltrecha, así que viene bien tener un repuesto. Me costó 5,99€.

Bien, estas han sido mis compras por el momento.

Here I am to show you my latest purchases so far.

1 - Elle pocket, October issue (marox): At only €1.95, it was a nice deal, as this month's freebie was a 2-count OPI nail polish minis. Mine came in a box, with the names clearly visible. I've seen online that other people got theirs only with the plastic inner tray without any names to identify the items.
I wouldn't mind getting my hands on another copy, if there are any left.

2 - Glamour pocket, October issue (marox):  A tad more expensive than the previous one. The regular version came with an Yves Rocher shampoo, if memory serves. I liked the freebie the smaller issue had better. 3 different travel-sized TBS body butters, apparently. I grabbed the mango one, with local newsagents also getting the Berry BonBon that I had from an earlier issue.


3 - Automatic Eye Pencil from Essence, shade #02 Hot Chocolate (marox): A replacement for the exact same thing that I'd been using. You feel a sense of accomplishment when you use a makeup product up, don't you? I got this from a local supermarket, Alimerka, as it has an Essence counter.




4 - Wet'nWild 'Comfort Zone' palette (marox): On the subject of supermarkets, I recently discovered that a local one, LUPA, had a Wet'nWild counter. To my surprise, they still had one of these palettes, so I grabbed it straightaway. Other counters from the brand elsewhere (Arenal drugstores, for one) are usually depleted.
I still have the old version of this palette, but it's taken a few beatings, so it makes sense to have a back-up.

Productos Terminados / 'Finito' Products 2019 (II)

Hola, chicas:

Aquí estamos para enseñaros los productos que hemos terminado últimamente.

1 - Desodorante Queen Helene:  Nos gusta utilizar desodorantes sin aluminio. Estos son bastante económicos, aunque hay que  comprarlos por Internet, en Vitacost o iHerb.
No son tan efectivos como los desodorantes tradicionales, pero claro, también son más sanos.

2 - Mascarilla tissú Holika Holika de Açai: Venía súper impregnada, tanto que me ha sobrado esencia como para 4 veces más. Cerré el sobrecito con una pinza y lo guardé en el frigorífico para conservarlo bien.

3 - Mascarilla nocturna de Laneige: Me ha durado bastante, ya que recomiendan usarla de 1 a 2 veces por semana. He ido alternando esta mascarilla con otros productos.
Lo cierto es que está muy bien. Es de esos productos coreanos que merece la pena probar, aunque sea sólo una vez.
De momento no repetiré, porque tengo en uso una de Narukö y tengo mascarillas de tissú también por gastar.
Podéis encontrarla en multitud de tiendas online, aunque yo la compré por Ebay.

4 - Mascarilla tissú de rosa de Innisfree: Me ha gustado mucho. Con razón es una de las mascarillas de este formato más populares. Si bien con otras marcas he notado frescor e hidratación, con ésta también he sentido un efecto tensor. Sobró también esencia para un par de días más.

5 - Esmalte base 'Nail Envy' de OPI (marox): Aunque todavía quedaba como la mitad del bote, se había espesado. Eso no es lo peor: las últimas veces que lo he usado, con distintos esmaltes, me ha sacado un montón de burbujas en las manicuras, así que sintiéndolo mucho, se ha ido directo a la basura.

6 - Bálsamo limpiador casero (marox): Fue un regalo de Marian. Aunque acababa de comprar uno coreano, decidí utilizar éste primero al no llevar conservantes. Lo cierto es que ha aguantado bien sin estropearse. La textura es bastante aceitosa y cuesta un poco repartirlo, pero ha cumplido su función. Como envase aprovechó el del bálsamo desmaquillante de TBS.

7 - Bálsamo labial Biocura (Aldi): Es una lástima que aquí no haya Aldi, porque tienen algunos productos muy apañados, como éstos bálsamos labiales. Vienen en un paquete de 3 y creo que no llega a 2€. Solemos aprovechar cuando estamos en nuestra tierra para acercarnos hasta Aldi y hacernos con algunos de sus productos.

Bueno, esto ha sido todo por ahora.

Here we are again to show you our latest empties.

1 - Queen Helene deodorant: We like to use aluminium-free deodorants and these are quite affordable. The downside is that you need to order them online, from stores like Vitacost or iHerb.
They're not as effective as traditional deodorants, but since those are not as healthy I guess it's better this way.

2 - Holika Holika Açai Sheet Mask: This came super drenched in essence, to the point that I had leftover serum for 4 more applications. I used a clothes peg to close the pouch and kept it in the fridge to make sure it was good to use.

3 -  Laneige Sleeping Pack: This has lasted quite a long time, since the recommended use is once or twice a week. I used other things as well.
I honestly really enjoyed trying this. I'd say it's one of those K-beauty items you should try at least once.
I won't repurchase for now, as I'm currently using another one from Narukö and have several sheet masks to use too.
Available from countless online stores, I got mine off Ebay.

4  - Innisfree Rose Sheet Mask: I truly enjoyed this one. It's a bestselling sheet mask for good reason. Whereas with others I could feel my skin feeling fresh and moisturized, this one gave me a tightening effect too. There was enough leftover essence for two more applications.
 

5 - OPI 'Nail Envy' Basecoat (marox): Still half full, it had thickened out. The worst thing is that the last few times I used it, regardless of the polish I used on top, it created a gazillion tiny bubbles on that.
Needless to say, I had to throw it away.

6 - Homemade Cleansing Balm (marox): Marian made this for me, even though I had just bought a Korean one. Since hers did not have any preservatives, I decided to use that first. Truth be told, it has held up without going bad. It is a bit oily and harder to spread than store-bought ones, but it did the job.
The container was a recycled one from TBS's cleansing balm.

7 - Biocura lipbalm from Aldi: It sucks that there's no Aldi here, since they have a handful of skincare items worth trying and repurchasing, like these lipbalms. These come in a 3-count and are less than €2. We usually grab some stuff from Aldi whenever we are in our hometown.

UDLS/NOTW: OPI 'The Grape Lakes'+ICING 'Gimme Some Glitter'.

Se me ha ocurrido que para hacer un poco diferentes este tipo de entradas, podía hacer mis manicuras con combinaciones de los esmaltes que ya tengo.

Para esta ocasión, he usado el esmalte "The Grape Lakes" de OPI y el esmalte de ICING "Gimme Some Glitter".
Además, he utilizado la base de P2 y el top coat de Poshé, como siempre.

El esmalte de ICING tiene el glitter muy pequeño. Por eso he usado la base de P2 y no la peel off de Essence.




Esta manicura me ha durado 4 días.
Se me echó a perder después de intentar quitarle unas pilas a un mando a distancia. Metí la uña y adiós manicura.

I've come up with the idea of making this kind of posts a bit different, by making combinations of the polishes I already have.

So this time I used 'The Grape Lakes' a polish from OPI, and 'Gimme Some Glitter' from ICING.
Besides, I used my P2 base coat and Poshé as top coat, as usual.




The glitter in the ICING polish is really small. That's why I used the base from P2, instead of the peel-off one from Essence.


This mani has lasted in perfect conditions for 4 days. It was completely ruined after trying to remove the batteries from a remote control. Bye, bye, mani.

UDLS / NOTW: Día del cáncer de mama con OPI y Sinful Colors / Breast Cancer Awareness Day with OPI and Sinful Colors

Hola, chicas:

Imagino que a estas alturas de año chocará ver una manicura tan colorida.
Imagino que ya habréis deducido por el título que hoy es el día mundial contra el Cáncer de mama y desde éste pequeño blog nos hemos unido, puesto que es una causa que nos toca de cerca.
Debo confesar que, cómo no, esta manicura corresponde al verano, que es cuando me atrevo a usar estos tonos más llamativos (y tengo algo más de tiempo).
Espero que no os importe.

En las fotos, llevo una capa de Nail Envy de OPI. En cuanto al color, llevo una capa generosa del esmalte de OPI ' I'm Indi-a Mood for Love' en todas las uñas menos en las anulares, que llevo el 'Sharon's Heart' de Sinful Colors que compré en Galleries Lafayette de París. Cuando estuvo lo suficientemente seco el esmalte, dí unos toques con el topper de Essence y rematé con top coat. No recuerdo lo que me duró.

Creo que quedó muy alegre y casi juraría que ya hice algo similar en el pasado.

I suppose it's kind of odd to see such a colourful mani in your blog feed at this time of year. 
I guess you gathered by the title of this post that today is Breast Cancer Awareness Day worldwide and we couldn't help but join in this initiative, as our family has been affected by this like many others.
Well, I must now confess that this mani is actually a summer mani, which is when I dare wear more vibrant polishes -and have a bit more time too.
Hope you don't mind.



In the pictures I'm wearing a coat of Nail Envy by OPI. As for the colour, I used a generous coat of the ' I'm Indi-a Mood for Love' OPI lacquer in all nails except for my ring fingernails where I used the Sinful Colors 'Sharon's Heart' nail polish. Once those were reasonably dry, I added some Essence glitter topper and topcoat.
I don't really recall how long I wore this for.

I think this turned out really bright and I could almost swear I've done a similar one in the past.

UDLS / NOTW: Miniesmalte OPI revista Telva – Telva Magazine Freebie Mini 'Tickle my France-y'

Tengo un par de esmaltes pendientes de enseñaros, entre ellos este miniesmalte que vino con la revista Telva. Nunca había comprado la revista y tuve que recorrerme los kioskos de esta zona en busca de este esmalte, porque sólo les quedaba el esmalte naranja.

Día 1: Por la mañana, me aplico una capa de Nail Envy Sensitive & Peeling de OPI. Una vez seca, aplico dos capas generosas para una mejor cobertura del miniesmalte de OPI que vino con la revista Telva del mes de Noviembre. No tiene nombre, sólo la referencia NLF16 /12226, aunque por lo que he leído en otros blogs, corresponde al Tickle my France-y. Es un rosa topo, que sacó la marca en 2008 como parte de la colección de Francia.

Día 3: A pesar de no llevar topcoat y tras una mañana de limpieza, no se me ha estropeado mucho la manicura. Retoco un par de uñas y aplico un poco del esmalte craquelador dorado de P2 con ayuda de una esponjita de la mitad de la uña hacia la punta.

Día 5: Ayer ya tenía el esmalte bastante perjudicado pero tuvimos un día movidito y no tuve tiempo para quitármelo, así que lo haré hoy.

I still have a few polishes to show you, among them this mini polish that came as a freebie with the Spanish Telva Magazine. I'd never actually bought that one and had to search for the one with this polish high and low around the neighbourhood, because the only magazines they had left were the ones with the orange polish.

Day 1: In the morning, I apply one coat of OPI's Nail Envy Sensitive & Peeling. Once dry, I apply two generous coats of this mini OPI polish, that came with the Spanish Telva magazine November issue. It had no name, only the reference NLF16 /12226, which thanks to some blogs, I later matched to Tickle my France-y. It's a rosey taupe, launched by the brand in 2008 as part of their France collection.

Day 3: Despite not wearing any topcoat and having spent the morning doing some cleaning at home, the mani has surved quite well. I touch up a couple of nails and apply some of my p2 golden crackle polish with the help of a sponge, from the middle of the nail to the tip.





Day 5: Yesterday the polish was looking quite damaged, but we had a busy day yesterday and had no time to take it off, which I do today.

Do you buy magazines that come with freebies? I seldom do -because most times they're not worth it- but I made an exception with this polish.

Hace mil años más o menos, os enseñé *aquí* mis esmaltes de OPI, que compré por Ebay a un vendedor particular.
Hacía un montón de tiempo que no lo usaba, porque me resulta dificilísimo abrirlo: se ha pegado el esmalte alrededor del bote. Antiguamente, no salía de las manicuras francesas y de los esmaltes en tonos borgoña, pero a raíz de redescubrir el mundillo del maquillaje gracias a blogger, me fui animando a probar cosas diferentes.

A lifetime ago, I showed you *here* my OPI polishes that I bought off Ebay from a private seller.
It's been ages since I last used this one, because the bottle it's almost impossible to open: there's dry polish all around the bottleneck. Years ago, I kept reaching for safe manis like the French one or burgundy shades, but ever since I rediscovered makeup thanks to blogger, I took the plunge and dared to try new stuff.

La manicura que quiero compartir con vosotras hoy me ha durado la friolera de cinco días, de hecho, sólo se me ha estropeado cuando me he lavado el pelo y no se notaba mucho.

En las fotos, tomadas a lo largo de varios días, llevo una capa de base, seguida de una generosa del esmalte de OPI. Cuando secó lo suficiente, pinté con cuidado las puntas con el esmalte *Gingerbread Man* de Color Club (que huele a galleta) y después, una capa de esmalte de acabado.
Me ha parecido una buena forma de animar un poco lo que sería una francesa tradicional. Tengo que probarlo con algún esmalte más colorido o dos tonos dentro de una misma gama.

The mani I'm sharing with you today lasted a good five days on me, only getting chipped when I eventually washed my hair and even so the damage was not too noticeable.


In the pictures, taken over the course of a few days, I'm wearing a coat of base followed by a thickish coat of this OPI lacquer. Once it was dry enough, I carefully painted the tips using Color Club's *Gingerbread Man* (which is cookie scented, btw) and then finished things off with some topcoat.
I thought this was a great way to liven up a classic French. I have to try this with more colourful shades or two colours within the same range.

Nuevo intercambio con Polish AMOR - New swap with Polish AMOR

Hace un par de semanas, Iris, del blog Polish AMOR, se puso en contacto con nosotras para que le ayudáramos a conseguir un esmalte que tenía en su lista de antojos. Por nuestra parte, como estamos ya bien servidas de esmaltes y aprovechando que casi todo es más barato en EEUU, le pedimos que nos consiguiera el Nail Envy en tamaño normal puesto que nos gustó la versión mini que probamos gracias a María de Todos los esmaltes son pocos. Las perfumerías IF lo venden también, sólo que por la friolera de 36 € (unos 47 dólares) que evidentemente, pasábamos de pagar. Marionnaud en otras ciudades, lo tiene por unos 10 euros menos, aunque aún así sigue siendo un robo. Ya habíamos decidido comprarlo por Ebay a un precio mucho más razonable cuando surgió este intercambio.

A few weeks ago, Iris from Polish AMOR contacted us in the hope that we could help her get her hands on one of the polishes in her wishlist. We, for our part, begin to have too many polishes and asked her to get us instead something that was way cheaper in the States, a full-size bottle of Nail Envy. We liked the mini we got from María from Todos los esmaltes son pocos. The local IF perfumeries & drugstores (and Marionnaud in other cities has it, about €10 cheaper) sell it here, but at an outrageous price tag of 36 EUR (about 47 USD) we obviously refused to pay. We had already decided to get it a lot more reasonably priced from Ebay when Iris e-mailed us.




Aparte del Nail Envy, Iris que es un sol, nos mandó unas cosillas más, a pares para no discutir. ;) Los dos miniesmaltes de Hard Candy no tienen referencia, ni nombre ni número.

Besides Nail Envy, Iris who's an angel, sent us some other goodies, in twos so we don't fight. The two Hard Candy minis don't have any reference, neither a name nor a number.

UDLS/NOTW: Rimmel #877 Mania

Hoy os traigo una manicura con este esmalte de Rimmel, que tenía pendiente de estrenar desde hace mucho tiempo. Estrenarlo en mis uñas, quiero decir; no en las ruedas.

Hi again,
Today I'm showing you a mani with this polish from Rimmel, which I had 'on queue' in my untrieds for quite a long time. When I say untrieds, I mean first use on my nails; not on the wheels.

Es un esmalte precioso, de acabado metálico, que según cómo le dé la luz, se ve verde o azul.




It's a gorgeous polish, with a metallic finish, which it's seen either green or blue, depending on the light.

En esta manicura, además del esmalte, he estrenado otra cosa, y es el Nail Envy de OPI, en tamaño pequeño, que nos mandó La loca de los esmaltes, de Todos los esmaltes son pocos.
Pues bien: apliqué el Nail Envy como base, después una capa del esmalte de Rimmel (que sospecho que le tendré que echar unas gotitas de diluyente si no quiero tener que tirarlo a la basura en breve, porque está muy espeso), y como siempre, Seche Vite como top coat.

For this mani, besides of the polish, I've tried another thing for the first time, and it's the Nail Envy from OPI, the small size, which 'La loca de los esmaltes', from 'Todos los esmaltes son pocos' (All the polishes are not enough) sent us. OK, I applied Nail Envy as a base, a coat of the Rimmel polish (which I think I'll have to add some drops of thinner to if I don't want to throw it away soon, because it has become quite thick), and finally, as usual, Seche Vite as a top coat.




La aplicación de este esmalte no fue muy fácil por lo que os he comentado arriba, así que no me quedó tan bien como me hubiera gustado. Perdonad los berretes.

The application was not so easy because of the mentioned above, so it didn't look so fine as I would like. Please overlook the mess.

La duración, en este caso, no es valorable, ya que hoy acabo de lavarme el pelo y creo que no hay esmalte en el mundo que resista eso. Han sido 2 días nada más, pues me las pinté el viernes por la noche.

In this case, I cannot really comment on the lasting time, as I've just washed my hair today and I think that no polish in the world can resist this. It has been just 2 days, as I polished them on last Friday evening.

Pero bueno, ya valoraremos la duración en otra ocasión (y cuando lo haya diluido un poquito), porque este esmalte merece otra oportunidad. ¿Qué os parece?

But I'll tell you about its lasting time any other day (when I had thinned it a bit), because this polish deserves another chance. What do you think?
