UDLS / NOTW: Color Club 'Love 'em, leave 'em'.

Hola, chicas:

Aquí os traigo mi última manicura.

Día 1 (martes): Me las pinto a media mañana. Para ello, me aplico una capa de la base Nail Envy y unos minutos después, una capa generosa de este esmalte holográfico tan bonito de Color Club.
Tras secar un par de minutos, me aplico una capa del esmalte de acabado de Essence BTGN.

Día 3 (jueves): Sin hacer nada especial, se me han desconchado las puntas de tres uñas de la mano derecha.
Al aplicar la base de OPI, la noté algo más espesa y amarillenta que otras veces, así que quizá haya perdido efectividad.
Es lo que ocurre cuando pasas de pintarte las uñas regularmente a hacerlo de guindas a brevas, que los esmaltes se van secando.

Quizá también sea porque los esmaltes holográficos suelen ser muy delicados.

Bueno, esto ha sido todo por ahora.

Here's my latest mani.

Day 1 (Tuesday): I painted my nails at noon. I gave them a coat of Nail Envy and a few minutes later, a generous one of this beautiful holo from Color Club.
I left my nails dry for a couple minutes before finishing with my trusted Essence BTGN topcoat.



Day 3 (Thursday): Not that I've done anything special, but the lacquer on three nails on my right hand is fairly chipped.
When I applied OPI's basecoat I noticed it was slightly thicker and yellower than before, so I'm wondering whether it's lost effectiveness.
This is what happens when you go from painting your nails on a regular basis to giving yourself a mani once in a blue moon. Nail polishes do dry out.
Or maybe because holo nail polishes are just too delicate.

Hace mil años más o menos, os enseñé *aquí* mis esmaltes de OPI, que compré por Ebay a un vendedor particular.
Hacía un montón de tiempo que no lo usaba, porque me resulta dificilísimo abrirlo: se ha pegado el esmalte alrededor del bote. Antiguamente, no salía de las manicuras francesas y de los esmaltes en tonos borgoña, pero a raíz de redescubrir el mundillo del maquillaje gracias a blogger, me fui animando a probar cosas diferentes.

A lifetime ago, I showed you *here* my OPI polishes that I bought off Ebay from a private seller.
It's been ages since I last used this one, because the bottle it's almost impossible to open: there's dry polish all around the bottleneck. Years ago, I kept reaching for safe manis like the French one or burgundy shades, but ever since I rediscovered makeup thanks to blogger, I took the plunge and dared to try new stuff.

La manicura que quiero compartir con vosotras hoy me ha durado la friolera de cinco días, de hecho, sólo se me ha estropeado cuando me he lavado el pelo y no se notaba mucho.

En las fotos, tomadas a lo largo de varios días, llevo una capa de base, seguida de una generosa del esmalte de OPI. Cuando secó lo suficiente, pinté con cuidado las puntas con el esmalte *Gingerbread Man* de Color Club (que huele a galleta) y después, una capa de esmalte de acabado.
Me ha parecido una buena forma de animar un poco lo que sería una francesa tradicional. Tengo que probarlo con algún esmalte más colorido o dos tonos dentro de una misma gama.

The mani I'm sharing with you today lasted a good five days on me, only getting chipped when I eventually washed my hair and even so the damage was not too noticeable.


In the pictures, taken over the course of a few days, I'm wearing a coat of base followed by a thickish coat of this OPI lacquer. Once it was dry enough, I carefully painted the tips using Color Club's *Gingerbread Man* (which is cookie scented, btw) and then finished things off with some topcoat.
I thought this was a great way to liven up a classic French. I have to try this with more colourful shades or two colours within the same range.

Hola ¿Cómo lleváis el verano? Nosotras ocupadas con unos cuantos proyectos de decoración-restauración entre manos.

Yo hoy vengo dispuesta a enseñaros el segundo esmalte que he usado hasta el momento de los esmaltes de Color Club que me regaló Marian por mi cumpleaños, allá por abril. Como ya hiciera con el Revvvolution *aquí* lo he combinado con otro esmalte de acabado similar para darle un toque diferente sin complicarme mucho. El elegido, como veis en el título, fue el "Dirty Berry" de Catrice, que ya os enseñé debidamente *aquí*.

How's the summer going? We're busy with a couple of décor-revamp DIY projects.

As for me, I'm all set to show you the second polish of the Color Club lacquers Marian gifted me with for my birthday, back in April. As I did with Revvvolution *here*, I went for an accent nail in a polish with a similar effect to give it a nice little touch without too much hassle. The chosen one, as shown in the title, was Catrice's 'Dirty Berry' that I already shared with you on its own in *this* post.

Día 1: Por la tarde, aplico una capa de la base de P2. Una vez seca, una generosa de este esmalte (que dicho sea de paso, es bastante cubriente) en todos los dedos salvo en los anulares, en los que aplico el 'Dirty Berry' de Catrice. Un par de minutos más tarde, aplico una capa del esmalte sellador de la BTGN de Essence.

Day 1: In the afternoon, I apply one coat of my P2 base. Once dry, a generous one of this polish -which I should say, has quite good coverage - in all nails except for the ring one where I'll do accent nails using 'Dirty Berry' from Catrice. A few minutes later, I apply one coat of the Essence BTGN top sealer.

Día 4: Ayer ya tenía un importante desconchón en el pulgar derecho, debido en gran parte a un golpe que me dí en la uña cerrando la puerta del coche. Salvo otro pequeño desconchón en el índice de esa mano y algo de desgaste en las puntas, bien, teniendo en cuenta que los holográficos tienen fama de durar poco.

Day 4: I had some major chipping on my right thumbnail the day before, due mainly to having bumped my nail when closing the car door. Beside another smaller chip in my right index and some tipwear, this mani did quite well, especially considering the poor wear holos are often said to have.

Hoy os quiero enseñar el primer esmalte que he estrenado de los que me regaló Marian por mi cumpleaños *aquí*. Lo tenía en mi lista de antojos desde hace tiempo, tras verlo en un montón de blogs, y aunque quizá estéis aburridas de verlo, me apetecía compartirlo con vosotros. Para darle un poco de vidilla sin complicarme mucho, decidí combinarlo con otro esmalte holográfico, en concreto el esmalte 'Rainbow' de Marks & Spencer que nos mandó Sarah y que os enseñé *aquí*.

Today I want to show you the first polish of the ones Marian gifted me for my birthday *here*. I had this in my wishlist for a long time, after seeing it feature in many many blogs. I hope you're not dead tired of seeing it, because I really felt like sharing it with all of you. To spice it up a bit with little hassle I decided to pair it with another holo lacquer, in particular with 'Rainbow' from M&S and that we got from Sarah and shared with you *here*.

Día 1: Por la tarde, aplico una capa del 'Fix Base' de Gosh para esmaltes holográficos que compré en Tallin (y que por cierto, no he visto en los muebles españoles de la marca), seguida de una capa del esmalte 'Revvvolution', uno de los regalos de Marian por mi cumpleaños, en todos los dedos menos los anulares. En esos dos dedos, aplico dos capas del 'Rainbow' de M&S que nos mandó Sarah como parte de nuestro intercambio. Queda un contraste muy bonito y una manicura muy rockera, en mi opinión. Después, aplico una capa de Seche Vite, gracias al cual en unos minutos puedo maquillarme para asistir al primero de los espectáculos a los que fuimos por mi cumpleaños, el de flamenco 'Tr3s' de Belén Maya.

Day 1: In the evening, I apply one coat of the 'Fix Base' from Gosh for holo polishes that I bought in Tallinn -and btw, I haven't seen this in Spanish Gosh displays-, followed by one of this 'Revvvolution', one of the presents Marian gave me for my birthday, in all nails except my ring fingers. In these two fingers, I apply two coats of 'Rainbow' from M&S that we got from Sarah as part of our swap. I like the contrast the accent nails gives this mani, making it a rocker one imo. I then apply one coat of Seche Vite, kudos to it as a few minutes later I can do my makeup to go see the first of the two shows we attended for my birthday, the flamenco performance 'Tr3s' by Belén Maya.

Día 3: Aunque ayer ya se intuía algún futuro desconchón y desgaste, hoy, después de una mañana de limpieza, ya tengo desconchones considerables en la mano derecha, principalmente en el índice y anular.

Day 3: Though there were small chip and tipwear hints yesterday, after spending the morning doing some cleaning at home, I now have some sizeable chipping in my right fingernails, especially in the pointer and ring fingers.

Es el "Love 'em, leave 'em" de Color Club, de acabado holográfico, pero a pesar de eso, muy ponible por su color de base, bastante difícil de describir, por cierto. ¿Alguna idea?

I'm here with my nails of the week. This time I've borrowed from marox one of the polishes I gave her for her birthday. It's 'Love 'em, leave 'em', from Color Club, with a holo finish, but despite that fact, very wearable due to its base shade, quite difficult to describe, by the way. Any ideas?

Para esta manicura apliqué una capa de la base de GOSH para esmaltes holográficos. Después, dos capas finas de este esmalte para una mejor cobertura, y como siempre, Seche Vite para terminar.
La manicura me ha durado menos de lo habitual (3 días). No sé si será por aquello de que los esmaltes holográficos duran muy poco puestos. Normalmente las manicuras se me echan a perder cuando me lavo el pelo (cosa que ocurre dos veces por semana), pero esta vez no ha dado ni tiempo.

For this mani I applied one coat of the base coat for holo polishes from GOSH. After that, two thin coats of this polish for a better coverage, and as usual, Seche Vite on top.

This mani has lasted less than usual (3 days). I don't know if this has been so due to the shorter lasting of the holo polishes in general. My manis usually get ruined when I wash my hair (this happens twice a week), but this time it happened before that.


Antes los esmaltes holográficos me parecían demasiado cantosos, pero ahora... ¡me encantan!


I used to think that holo polishes were too in-your-face not such a long time ago, but now... I love them!

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros algunos de los regalos que he recibido por mi cumpleaños, que es hoy.

Primeramente, Marian me sorprendió con una esponja tipo 'Beauty Blender' de UBU, que compró en Bustillo, además de la versión de Saphir del perfume 'Flower' de Kenzo, que es mi perfume de cabecera y compró en una perfumería local.

Today I'd like to show you some of the presents I received for my birthday, which is today btw.

In the first place, Marian surprised me with a make-up sponge similar to the famous 'Beauty Blender' but from UBU and that she bought at our local beauty supply store, Bustillo, as well as a bottle of perfume inspired by 'Flower by Kenzo', which is my go-to perfume. She got that from a local drugstore / perfumery.

En Zamora, aprovechando una visita a ECI de Oportunidades del que ya os he hablado otras veces, por ejemplo *aquí*, me compré estas botas de Fornarina al módico precio de... *redoble de tambor*... ¡9 euros!. Casi salíamos por la puerta, cuando al pasar por la sección de calzado cerca de la salida, vimos que estaban colocando un montón de botas de todo tipo. Era la oferta del día. Las había en negro también, pero me gustó más cómo me quedaban estas y me cogí las moradas. Por cierto, el mejor día para ir a un ECI de Oportunidades es el jueves, que es cuando reciben género. Aún no las he estrenado, porque con el tiempecito que tenemos ahora mismo, son más adecuadas las Chiruca.





During the Easter /Holy Week holidays in Zamora, I paid a visit to the ECI Outlet and bought these Fornarina boots for the bargain price of... *drumroll*... 9 euros!. I've written other posts about this store, such as *this*. We were on our way out of the store, empty-handed when we noticed the staff were stocking the shelves with different boots. It was the day's special offer. They had these in black too, but I liked how this fitted better and grabbed a pair in purple. Btw, the best day to go to ECI Outlets is Thursday, which is when they receive their goods. I haven't worn them yet, because the best suited footwear for the lousy weather we have right now are a sturdy pair of Chiruca's.

Y una mañana San Cartero me subió un paquete de EEUU que contenía estas tres bellezas con las que Marian quiso sorprenderme. De izquierda a derecha, os presento los esmaltes #867 Love 'Em, Leave 'Em, #852 Revvvolution y #871 Wild at Heart de Color Club. Los compró en ese antro de perdición más conocido como Ebay, al vendedor beautyzone2007.

And one morning St. Postman buzzed in with a package from the US containing these three beauties Marian got for me too. Left to right, meet: #867 Love 'Em, Leave 'Em, #852 Revvvolution and #871 Wild at Heart from Color Club. She got them off the Evil Bay, aka Ebay. Seller's name is beautyzone2007.

Mis padres me dieron dinero para comprarme alguna cosilla. De momento, me he cogido un diccionario pequeño de alemán, que me da pereza llevar el que tengo a clase y siempre acabo gorroneándole a una compañera el suyo, así que me he cogido uno igual. Me falta pillarme el último disco de Roxette, el 'Travelling' (¡desde luego, no se comen la cabeza con los títulos! Está inspirado en la gira, como ya pasara con el 'Tourism' de 1992, pues entonces éste es 'Travelling').

My parents gave me money to buy myself a little something. The only stuff I got so far was a small German/Spanish dictionary, because my other one is a bit cumbersome to take to class and I -and other people in class- always end up sponging another classmate's pocket sized one, so I grabbed one for myself. I still have to get Roxette's latest album, Travelling -probably the least original album title on earth. It is inspired by their current world tour, just like 'Tourism' back in 1992 and therefore they named this 'Travelling'.

Aparte de con regalitos, lo celebraremos este fin de semana viendo varios espectáculos: el "TR3S" de flamenco con Belén Maya el día 27 y *redoble de darbuka*... el "Bombay Bellywood" de las Bellydance Superstars al día siguiente.




Besides celebrating it with presents, we'll attend two shows this weekend: the 'flamenco' show with Belén Maya on the 27th and... *doumbek drumroll*... the 'Bombay Bellywood' one from the Bellydance Superstars the next day.

UDLS / NOTW: Color Club 'Gingerbread Man'

¡Hola guapas!

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros uno de los esmaltes que me mandó Iris, o mejor dicho, el único que le pedí de entre todos los que ella finalmente me mandó. Mi idea era tener un buen esmalte para estampar, cometido que este cumple estupendamente. Pero lo cierto era que me apetecía usarlo aunque fuera una vez él solito. Pertenece a la colección 'Scent-suous Holiday'. Es el único esmalte de esta marca que tengo y no será por falta de colores bonitos.




Hi, my lovelies!

Today I'd like to show you one of the polishes dear Iris sent to us, i.e. the only one I asked for among the dozen or so she eventually gifted us with. My idea was to have a good stamping polish and this one delivers beautifully. All in all, I wanted to use it on its own, even if it was just once. It was released as part of the Scent-suous Holiday Collection and it's my only Color Club to date, though not by lack of lemmings or pretty colours.





Día 1: Por la noche, me retiro las cutículas con el tratamiento de Mavala que nos mandó María. Después, me aplico una capa del gel de calcio de Basic. Aplico una capa de este esmalte, que huele a galleta. Mmmm. Como ya es tarde, una capa de SV. El olorcito a galleta perdura incluso después del SV. ¡Mola!.

Day 1: At night, I use the cuticle remover from Mavala that I got from María. Afterwards, I applied one coat of the calcium gel from Basic by Schlecker. Then, one coat of this gorgeous foily scented polish. It smells just like cookies. Yummy! As it's late, a coat of SV is mandatory. The cookie scent remains even after SV. Cool!




Me las quito al tercer día, ya que después de lavarme el pelo, como era lógico se me empezaron a desconchar. Sobre todo al principio, perduraba el olorcito en las uñas a galletita, así que no podía evitar "esnifarlo" un poco de vez en cuando.

I took it off on Day 3, as it got chipped when I washed my hair. At the beginning of this mani especially, I couldn't help it but sniff/snort this every now and then.

UDLS / NOTW: China Glaze 'Let's Groove' + ColorClub 'Gingerbread Man'

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros la manicura que lucí hace ya algunas semanas. El esmalte de base ya os lo había enseñado anteriormente, al principio de la andadura de este blog, pero en esta ocasión me pareció que combinaría muy bien con el esmalte dorado que nos mandó Iris.
Os lo enseño solito y también en buena compañía. Las fotos en esta ocasión están hechas con la réflex de Marian, que se empeñó en captar unos brillitos azuladitos que mi ojo no ve en absoluto.

Today I'd like to share with you the mani I sported some weeks ago. The base polish was one of the first I showed in the blog, but I wore it again because I thought it teamed well with the gold polish for stamping that we got from Iris. Here it is both by itself and in good company. Pictures were made with Marian's DLSR this time, which insisted on capturing some blueish shimmer my eye does not see at all.






Día 1: Aplico una capa de Nail Envy y cuando está seca, una de este esmalte. No aplico TC. Horas más tarde, con el esmalte ya seco, Marian me hace una estampación en dos uñas de cada mano, usando una de las placas de Essence (la del ancla). Aunque unos diseños han quedado mejores que otros, sí que se nota una gran diferencia con los conatos de estampación que hicimos con el Midnight Kiss en su día. El diseño queda mucho más claro. Para obtener mejores resultados, tendremos que practicar más, evidentemente. Aplico SV en todas las uñas.



Day 1: I apply one coat of Nail Envy and once dry, one of this polish. No TC. A few hours later, on perfectly dry polish, Marian stamped two accent nails on each hand with one of my Essence plates (the one with the anchor image). Though the neatness varies depending on the nail, generally speaking the results are a lot better than with our early feeble attempts at stamping that we did my Midnight Kiss. For better results, nothing better than more practice, obviously. SV on all nails.

Día 3: Ayer se intuía desgaste en las puntas, que hoy ha ido a más tras una mañana de limpieza. El mayor desconchón lo tengo en el dedo medio derecho y quiere empezar a desconcharse el índice derecho. Si mal no recuerdo, me lo quité ese día más tarde.

Day 3: Tipwear made itself noticed the day before and it's got worse after a morning of cleaning up at home. The biggest chipping is on my right middle finger and the index is threatening to begin peeling too. If I'm not mistaken I took it off later that day.

Hace unos meses Marox participó en el sorteo de una tarjeta regalo del blog de Emily's Nail Files de una tienda online americana, Apothica, que ganó. Por desgracia, al intentar hacerla efectiva, resultó que los gastos de envío a España eran desorbitados: más de 30 €.

Some months ago Marox entered a giveaway on Emily's Nail Files and won a giftcard from a US-based only beauty store, Apothica. Unfortunately, when we tried to redeem it found out the shipping costs to Spain were outrageous: more than 30 EUR.

Así que desde la tienda -de un trato excelente, todo sea dicho- sugirieron la posibilidad de cedérsela a otra persona que viviera en EEUU y eso fue lo que hicimos. Marox se puso en contacto con una de nuestras seguidoras y fiel comentarista, PolishAMOR para que aprovechara ella la tarjeta. Aún no la ha hecho efectiva ya que sus objetos de deseo no estaban en stock de momento y a cambio se ofreció a conseguirnos alguna cosa. Primeramente le dijimos que no, ya que la idea de cederle la tarjeta regalo no era con la esperanza de recibir nada a cambio, aunque tras mucho pensar, finalmente decidimos pedirle algún esmalte dorado no muy caro que sirviera para estampar, como el famoso 2030 de China Glaze.

So the store -kudos to the attentive customer service, btw- suggested donating the giftcard to a friend living in the States and that's what we did. Marox contacted one of our followers and loyal commenter, PolishAMOR so she could use it herself. She has not redeemed it yet as her lemmings were not in stock and she insisted on getting us something in return. We initially refused because that wasn't the plan when we offered her the giftcard, but after giving the matter some thought we said OK to her finding us a cheap polish that could make a good gold stamping polish, such as the famous 2030 from China Glaze.

Por lo visto el 2030 es ya difícil de encontrar, así que estuvo buscando posibles alternativas y encontró una que cumplía sobradamente en la marca Color Club. Se trata del esmalte 'Gingerbread Man' de una de las últimas colecciones de la marca.

Apparently 2030 is now becoming quite HTF, so she did some searching for a good substitute and found an excellent one in Color Club. It's called 'Gingerbread Man' and was released in one of the brand's latest collections.

La sorpresa llegó cuando siete días después nuestro "San Cartero" (al que ya le hemos obsequiado con una cajita de bombones por la cantidad de veces que nos sube cosas) nos trajo una cajita. ¿Una cajita para un esmalte? ¡Qué exagerada! ¿no? Pues SÍ, Iris es una exagerada. Si no nos creéis, mirad todo lo que embutió en la cajita.

Surprise came seven days letter when our dear postman (aka. St. Postman -who's already received a 'Thank you' box of chocolates from us) brought us a box. A box for one polish?? That's way too big!! Yes, Iris DID GO overboard and stuffed a gazillion stuff in said box. Check it out for yourselves if you don't believe us.

Según ella, tenía que aprovechar el franqueo y que estaban liquidando la colección 'Metro (Uptown)' de China Glaze. Sí, sí, excusas.

According to her, she had to make the most of the flat rate box and the fact that the China Glaze 'Metro (Uptown') collection was on clearance. Nay, that's just excuses!!
