Aquí estamos de nuevo para enseñaros las últimas cosas que hemos comprado en estos meses.

Here we are again to share with you all the stuff we've bought in recent months.

1- Kindle Paperwhite de *Amazon*: Regalo para Marian, que se ha apuntado a un curso online y le vendrá muy bien. Espero que también le coja el saborete a la lectura y lo use también para leer libros. Está muy bien de precio dentro de su gama, ya que cuesta 129€.
A lo tonto a lo tonto, estoy amortizando la cuota Premium.

2- Funda inteligente para el Kindle Paperwhite, de Ebay: Ajusta muy bien, ya que encaja perfectamente en una carcasa plástica y la parte exterior es de símil piel con dibujos de mariposas. Es preciosa y se ve robusta y de calidad. Está disponible en varios colores y Marian escogió el morado. El Kindle se apaga y enciende automáticamente al abrir la funda. El cierre no lleva imán, así que no hay problema de que os dañe tarjetas si lo lleváis en el bolso. El vendedor es del Reino Unido y se llama fastn. También le pedimos un protector para la pantalla. El precio total fue de 13,34 libras (aproximadamente, 15,51€ al cambio) y tardó 9 días en llegar, que parece mucho teniendo en cuenta que viene desde el Reino Unido.

3- Cremas Holika Holika Water March para piel mixta: Como nos gustó la que le regalé a Marian por Navidad, pedimos una para nuestra madre (vendedor rubyruby76; precio 19,99$ = 15,33€ aprox). Tardó 17 días en llegar y vino muy bien protegido con plástico de burbujas y en una caja de cartón. No mandó muestras.
Y para no ser menos, me pedí otra para mí en una puja. El vendedor fue makozzang y me salió aún más barata, por 14$ (=10,74€ aprox.) El envío tardó 16 días y vino muy bien protegido en plástico de burbujas dentro de una caja. El vendedor incluyó dos muestritas: la versión para piel seca (crema rosa) de esa misma crema y de la BB Cream Luminous Silk de Holika Holika.

4- Quitaesmaltes con y sin acetona de LIDL: Hasta el momento, sólo habíamos probado el de acetona. Nos encanta el envase, que es francamente cómodo. Los dos valen lo mismo, 1,49€.

5- Limpiadora facial LIDL: A diferencia de la que compramos en Sephora en los Precios Locos, esta sí que hace espumita y limpia bien la piel, dejando una sensación agradable. Es baratita -cuesta 1,49€- y está bien para completar el ritual de limpieza facial diaria.



6- Discos de algodón de LIDL: Son de los que más nos gustan, junto con los del Carrefour Discount y los del DIA (que son 100% algodón). También muy baratitos -sólo 0,85€.

7- Bastoncillos de aldodón de LIDL: Me gusta tener una cajita en el baño, ya sea para retirar bien los restos de máscara de pestañas, limpiar los restos de esmaltes de uñas cuando me hago alguna decoración, etc. Eso sí, para limpiar el oído es mejor no introducir nada en el conducto auditivo. Baratísimos también, ya que sólo costaron 0,45€.

Pues estas han sido nuestras últimas compras -variaditas, como véis.
¿Qué os han parecido? 

1- Kindle Paperwhite from Amazon: A present for Marian, who's doing an online course and will make good use of it. I hope she also uses it to read proper books once the course is over and gets hooked on reading too. It is tough to beat in its price range. 
Believe it or not, I'm actually getting my money's worth now that I upgraded my account to a Premium one.

2- Smart cover case for the Kindle Paperwhite, off Ebay: It provides a snug, perfect fit with a plastic snap-on casing and the outer part is made of faux leather with engraved butterflies. It is really pretty and looks durable and good quality. It is available in several colours and Marian chose it in purple. The Kindle automatically changes to wake/sleep by opening or closing the smart cover. The strap has no magnet, so carrying it in your purse won't mess with your credit cards or anything. Seller was based in the UK and the name is fastn. We also ordered a screen protector. Total was GBP 13,34 (aprox. 15.51 EUR) and took 9 days to arrive, which seemed a lot considering it was shipped from the UK.

3- Holika Holika Water March moisturiser for combination skin: Since we liked the one I gave Marian for Christmas very much, we ordered another one for our mother (seller rubyruby76 ; price 19.99 USD = 15.33 EUR aprox.). Shipping took 17 days and came well protected with bubblewrap inside a box. No samples were included.
And what the hell, I also got another one for me thanks to a winning bid. Seller was makozzang and I got mine even cheaper, for $14 (= €10.74, aprox.). Shipping took 16 days and again came well protected in bubblewrap inside a box. The seller included two samples: one with the dry-skin variety of this cream (pink jar) and another one with Holika Holika's Luminous Silk BB Cream.

4- Nail polish removers, with acetone and acetone-free from LIDL: So far, we'd only tried the acetone one. We love the bottle, which is very convenient. Both cost 1.49 EUR.



5- Face cleanser from LIDL: Unlike the one we got from Sephora during their Crazy Prizes sales, this one does lather and cleanses your skin well, leaving a nice feeling to your skin. It's cheap -at only €1.49- and is a nice addition to your daily face cleansing ritual.

6- Cotton pads from LIDL: These are among our favourites, together with the Carrefour Discount ones and those from DIA (which are 100% cotton). They're also very cheap -only €0.85.



7- LIDL cotton Q-tips: I like to keep a box in the bathroom, either for removing any trace of mascara from my lashes, or to clean-up my fingers when I'm doing nail art and so on. What you should never use these are to clean up your ears. Again, these were really cheap, at only €0.45.

Well, these were our latest purchases -with a little bit of everything, as you see.

Una sorpresa inesperada / An unexpected surprise

 ¡Hola!
¿Qué tal lleváis el comienzo de la primavera? Esperamos que bien.

Pronto tendré algo más de tiempo para dedicarle al blog y a otras cosas, ya que a comienzos de abril se me termina el contrato. No es esa la sorpresa inesperada de la que hablo en el título del post, puesto que lo sabía desde hacía meses, sino por lo que véis en la foto que ilustra este post.

No, ese pedazo de ramo de flores no ha sido regalo de ningún novio, familiar ni nada por el estilo. Ha sido el detallazo que han tenido algunos de mis alumnos conmigo para despedirme.
Me van a echar de menos y ahora tendrán que acostumbrarse a un nuevo profesor, pero yo también les echaré de menos e intentaré mejorar para con suerte, poder decir el curso que viene que mis nuevos alumnos -si me llaman para trabajar, claro está- también me echen de menos.

How's the onset of spring going? We hope you're doing fine.

I will soon have more time for the blog and other stuff, since my work contract will expire in early April. It does not come as a surprise and is not what I meant in the title, since I've known about that for a few months. The surprise has to do with the picture that goes with this post.

No, the gorgeous bunch of flowers you see was not a gift from any boyfriend, relative or anything like that. It was the very thoughtful gift of some of my students, as a farewell to me. 
They will miss me and will now have to get used to a new teacher in a short space of time, but I will surely miss them too. I hope I can be a better teacher next year -providing I'm called for work then, that is- so I can also say the new ones will miss me too.

Libros / Books: 'Heat Wave' by *Richard Castle

¿Qué tal?  Con todo el follón que hemos tenido estos últimos meses con la mudanza, cambios en las casas y demás, ciertas cosas como la lectura y las manicuras han pasado un poco a un segundo plano, pero ya es hora de remediarlo.

La novela que os traigo yo es algo diferente a lo habitual, ya que está vinculada a una serie de televisión, Castle, que en España emite actualmente  Cuatro.

Creo que es un libro que se puede disfrutar tanto si seguís la serie como si no. 

Resumen:

Un magnate inmobiliario aparece asesinado. Su viuda es atacada poco después. La detective Nikki Heat debe resolver el asesinato y para ello cuenta con la colaboración de sus compañeros Ochoa y Raley y la "ayuda" del periodista Jameson Rook, que está escribiendo un artículo sobre la policía de Nueva York.

Lo cierto es que me tardó en enganchar el libro, pero aun sin ser una gran novela de misterio,sí que contiene algunos giros inesperados y pequeñas sorpresas que hacen que la lectura haya merecido la pena.
Los seguidores de la serie notarán que algunos aspectos, como la tensión sexual entre la detective Becket y el escritor Richard Castle, se abordan de manera diferente en este libro. Si no seguís la serie, en ningún momento os sentiréis "perdidos" con estos pequeños detalles que para nada afectan a la historia.

Como digo, no es un para nada novelón de misterio, pero se lee bien. En mi caso, la leí en inglés.

What's up?
This all the mess we've had in the last few months
with house moves and changes in the décor, some things like reading and manis have faded into the background, but now it's time to change that.

The novel I'm reviewing today is somewhat different, in the sense that it is written by a ghost writer as part of the promotion for the ABC series Castle.

I think the book can be enjoyed by viewers and non-viewers of the show alike.

Excerpt:

A real estate tycoon is murdered. Soon after, his widow has a narrow escape from a brazen attack. NYPD detective Nikki Heat must solve the case, together with her colleagues Ochoa and Raley and the 'help' of journalist Jameson Rook, who's writing a piece about the NYPD.

 It took me a while to be gripped by the book, which despite not being a great mistery novel, does contain some unexpected twists and little surprises that made reading it worth it.
For those watching the show, you'll notice that the book deals differently with certain issues like the 'sexual tension' between Detective Kate Beckett and writer Richard Castle. If you don't watch the show, you won't feel 'left out' by these little details that in no way affect the story.

Like I said, this is definitely not an outstanding crime novel, but is a nice read all the same. In my case, I read it in the original English.

UDLS / NOTW: MNY124A + Essence C&G 67 Make it Golden

¡Hola de nuevo!
Hacía tiempo ya, pero ¡hoy toca manicura! Con todo el jaleo que tenemos últimamente en las dos casas (pintura, mudanza, muebles, trabajo etc) hace más de un mes que no me pinto las uñas, así que ni que decir tiene, que la manicura de hoy es de archivo.
Hoy vengo con una combinación de esmaltes, con un marrón de base con brillos dorados que me pareció que podía combinar bien con uno de los esmaltes de Essence que compramos rebajados con la discontinuación anterior.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de la base de P2, seguida de una de este esmalte que compré en Amsterdam y que os enseñé *aquí*. Pasados unos minutos, aplico una capa del esmalte de brillitos de Essence, procurando que queden los brillitos repartidos por toda la uña. Unos minutos más tarde, remato con una capa del esmalte de sellado de la BTGN de Essence.

Día 4: Después de lavarme el pelo, sorprendentemente sigue intacto, sin ningún desconchón y únicamente tengo las puntas un pelín desgastadas.

Al final del día tengo algún desconchón y me retiro el esmalte al día siguiente, así que de duración, muy bien.

It's been a while, but it's mani time!!
With all the mess we have in both houses (paint, house move, furniture, work and so on) it's been over a month since I last did my nails, so it goes without saying the following mani is 'from the vault'.
Today I have a combo, featuring a base colour in a chocolate shade with golden shimmer that I thought could combine nicely with one of the Essence polishes that we got on clearance with the previous assortment renovation of the brand.

Day 1: At night, I apply one coat of my P2 base, followed by one of this polish that I bought in Amsterdam and that I showed you *here*.
After a few minutes, I apply one coat of this sparkly polish from Essence, doing my best to get the glitter evenly covering my nails. A few minutes later, I finish my mani with a coat of the Essence BTGN top sealer.



Day 4: After washing my hair, the polish still looks -to my surprise- quite well, with no chips and only showing some tipwear.
At the end of the day I have some chips and removed the polish the day after, so in terms of wear, it did beautifully.

I like how this combo turned out, sparkly but not too eye-catching. How do you like it?

Aquí os traemos una nueva entrega de nuestras últimas compras potinguiles.



Definitivamente esta vez nos hemos vuelto locas con los precios ídem de Sephora.

Lo primero con lo que cayó Marian fue con este kit de Dr. Brandt.
Como sabéis, su exfoliante facial favorita hasta la fecha es precisamente la de esta marca. Lástima que sea tan cara (80€ el tarro de 50g).
Este kit incluye un tubo de 20g de esta misma crema. Así que ya sólo por eso, merece la pena hacerse con él. Además, incluye un extractor de puntos negros (7.5g), una loción matificante (7.5g), un refinador de poros (30ml) y un sobrecito de "Pore thing" (1g), que no sé lo que es, pero seguro que estará bien.



Compramos también este limpiador suave, de la línea "Yes to blueberries".
Está pensado para el cuidado antiarrugas.
Tiene una textura cremosa, y no hace nada de espuma. Deja una sensación en la piel como si te hubieras aplicado una crema hidratante. Además tiene un olor muy agradable.
Nos gusta usarlo por las noches, antes de irnos a dormir. A Marox no le hace mucha gracia este producto.

Y seguimos con "Yes to...", pero esta vez en lugar de arándanos azules son zanahorias.
Marox compró este bálsamo labial de "Yes to carrots" para nuestra madre. Tiene otro igual y le encanta. Deja los labios hidratados y sin esa sensación pegajosa que dejan otros bálsamos.

 

Para terminar con nuestras compras en Sephora, os enseñamos este esmalte que Marox compró al irrisorio precio de 1€.
Es el tono "Not that shy", un tono nude perfecto para una manicura francesa, por ejemplo.

Con nuestra compra, nos regalaron una muestra del perfume "Lolita Lempicka".
Han acertado de pleno, porque nos encanta a las dos.



Ahora vamos con nuestras compras en Yves Rocher.
En primer lugar, os enseñamos esta crema que ha comprado Marox, el gel crema de hidratación intensa 24 horas, de la línea "Hydra Vegetal".
Lo está usando como hidratante de noche, y la verdad es que no le está gustando demasiado. Es más crema que gel, así que tiene una textura más untuosa de lo esperado y la supuesta textura 'gel-crema' de la que presume no es tal.
Se supone que esta línea sustituye a la Hydra Specific (creo que se llamaba así). Marox compró alguna vez la crema de noche y quedó encantada con ella.
Por lo que parece, no han acertado con el cambio de formulación y Marox está deseando acabarla.

Y ahora vamos con lo que compró Marian.
Es este lápiz khol automático en color negro.
Marian había oído maravillas del khol negro de Yves Rocher, que antes tenían en otro formato (como si fuera una barra de labios, pero acabada en punta).
No es como su adorado lápiz automático negro de P2 que acabó hace tiempo, pero la verdad es que pigmenta bastante bien en la línea de agua, así que no se arrepiente de la compra.

Además, con nuestra compra, recibimos todo esto: muestras de colonia, muestras de la crema hidratante de la línea "Sebo Specific" para pieles grasas, y una muestra de una mascarilla capilar enriquecida con aceite de jojoba y libre de siliconas, que nos dijeron que iban a lanzar próximamente.

Bueno, pues esto ha sido todo por el momento.

Here we are again to show you our latest make-up related purchases.

Definitely, this time we've gone crazy with the crazy prices from Sephora.

The first thing Marian bought was this kit from Dr. Brandt.
As you know, her favourite facial exfoliating cream is just the one from this brand.
What a shame that it is so expensive (€80 the jar containing 50g).
This kit includes a 20g tube of this cream. So this kit is well worth the money just for this.
Besides, it also includes a blackhead extractor (7.5g), a mattifying lotion (7.5g), a pore refiner (30ml), and a 1g sample of "Pore thing", which I still don't know what it is, but surely it'll be good.

We also bought this smoothing facial cleanser from 'Yes to blueberries'. It's suitable for antiwrinkle care.
It has a creamy texture, and makes no foam when using it.
It leaves a feeling on the skin nearly the same as if you had applied a moisturizer.
Besides, it has a nice scent.
We both like using it at night, before going to sleep. Marox doesn't like the product very much, though.



Keeping on talking about 'Yes to...', but now carrots instead of blueberries.
Marox bought this lipbalm from 'Yes to carrots' for our mum.
She has another one of these and loves it. It leaves her lips moisturized, and without that sticky feeling other lipbalms leave.

To finish with our purchases at Sephora, we're showing you now this polish Marox bought at the ridiculous price of €1.
It's the shade 'Not that shy', a nude colour, perfect for a french mani, for example.



Together with our purchase, we were given a sample of Lolita Lempicka perfume.
They got it right, because we both love it.

Now let's move on to our purchases at Yves Rocher.

First of all, we're going to show you this cream Marox bought, the intense moisturizing cream, from the range 'Hydra Vegetal'.
She's using it as a night cream, but the truth is that she doesn't like it much.
It's more cream than gel, so its texture is greasier than expected despite its name. Don't get fooled by the 'gel-cream texture' the label boasts.
This range is supposed to be replacing the 'Hydra Specific' one (I think that was the name) that got discontinued. Marox used to occasionally buy the night cream, which she loved.
It seems they've failed changing the formula and is now looking forward to using this jar up.



Now we're going with Marian's purchase.
It's this automatic khol pencil in black.
Marian heard wonders about the black khol from Yves Rocher, which had a different format before (like a lipstick, but with pointed tip).
Well, it's not like her beloved automatic khol pencil from P2, which she used up a while ago, but it has quite a good pigmentation on the waterline, so she doesn't regret getting it.



Besides, we were given all these samples: two of perfume, four of the mattifying cream from the range 'Sebo Specific', and a sample of their forthcoming hair mask, enriched with jojoba oil, and silicone free.

Productos terminados (XIII) - 'Finito' products (XIII).

Hola, chicas:

Aquí venimos con una nueva reseña de los productos que hemos terminado últimamente.



1- Aceite desmaquillante "Gold Progress" de Deliplus: Nos ha encantado, así que siempre procuramos tener repuesto.
Aunque dice que está indicado para pieles secas, a nosotras nos ha ido bien; eso sí, lo aclaramos después con jabón u otro limpiador más adecuado para nuestro tipo de piel. Así matamos dos pájaros de un tiro y hacemos una doble limpieza.
Dos pulsaciones son suficientes para retirar el maquillaje.
Precio: poco más de 5€.



Os preguntaréis por qué lo usamos si no está indicado para nuestro tipo de piel. Pues bien, porque retira perfectamente todo el maquillaje, incluso el resistente al agua.
Nos os imagináis cómo retira las BB creams.

2- Manteca corporal "Aphrodisiac Smoothie" de Bubbly: Bueno, no sé si es afrodisiaco, pero la verdad es que nos encanta el olor, lo mucho que cunde y la sensación de hidratación que deja en la piel. El precio: 5€.

3- Gel limpiador con lima y pepino de Essence (línea My Skin).
Este sí es un limpiador más adecuado para nuestro tipo de piel, pero por sí sólo no retira bien el maquillaje, así que hemos estado usándolo después del que os hemos enseñado en el punto 1. La verdad es que hacen buena combinación, aunque por ahora, no la volveremos a comprar.

4- Crema hidratante con aloe vera de Deliplus (Marox).
La hemos usado las dos (Marox más que Marian), y la verdad es que está muy bien.
No deja una sensación grasa en la piel, aunque tampoco es una crema matificante, obviamente.
Marox la ha estado usando como crema de noche, y a la mañana siguiente sí ha notado la piel más descansada, aunque de momento, no repetirá. Precio: No llegó a 3€, creo.



5- Crema hidratante Inositol para primeras arrugas, de Yves Rocher (Marian).
Marian estuvo usando un tarro tras otro (o una recarga tras otra, que hay que cuidar del medio ambiente) de esta crema durante un tiempo (lo que quiere decir que le iba muy bien) hasta que sucumbió a los encantos de la cosmética asiática.

Esto ha sido todo por el momento.

Here we are again with a new review of the products we've ended up recently.

1- 'Gold Progress' make-up remover oil from Deliplus: We love it, so we always try to have another one as backup.
Although it's indicated for dry skin, we didn't have any problem using it; anyway, we always rinse it with soap or another facial cleanser more appropriate for our skin type and thus kill two birds in one stone with a double cleansing routine.
Two pumps are enough to cleanse your face off makeup.
You'll probably be wondering why we use it if it's not indicated for our skin type. Well, it perfectly removes all our make-up, even the waterproof one.
You can't imagine how well it removes BB creams.
Price: A little over €5.

2- 'Aphrodisiac Smoothie' body butter from Bubbly/Bodyline: I don't know if it's really aphrodisiac, but we truly love its scent, its high body, and the moisturizing feeling it leaves on the skin. Price: €5.



3- Cleansing gel with lime and cucumber from Essence (My Skin range).
This one really is a more suitable cleanser for our skin type, but it doesn't remove all the make-up just by itself; that's why we've been using it after the one we've just shown you on number 1.
Anyway, they make a good team together, though we won't be repurchasing for the time being.



4- Moisturizing cream with aloe vera from Deliplus (Marox).
We both have been using it (Marox has used it more than Marian), and the truth is that it's really good.
It doesn't leave a greasy feeling on the skin, although obviously it's not a mattifying cream.
Marox has been using it as a night cream, and the following morning, her skin feels like 'renewed'. She won't be repurchasing for now. Price: Less than €3, I think.

5- Inositol moisturizing cream for the first wrinkles, from Yves Rocher (Marian).

Marian was using jar after jar (or refill after refill, because we are environmentally conscious, you see) of this cream for quite a long time (which means this was really good for her), until she fell head over heels in love with Asian cosmetics.

Lo hemos vuelto a hacer. No hemos podido resistirnos a comprar alguna cosilla últimamente.

1- Base peel-off de Essence y brillo de la EL 'Rebels' (liquidación):
En una visitilla a Bustillo, me hice con dos de estas bases (la otra fue un detallito para mi madre) y ojeando la cesta de liquidación ví este brillo de labios. Me gustó que fuera un tono ponible y más pigmentado de lo que suelen serlo los brillos de esta marca.

2 - Perfumes de equivalencia "La botica de los perfumes": Marox se compró el de Lolita Lempicka (que estaba mucho mejor logrado que el de Saphir) y Marian el de Aire de Loewe, que le gusta mucho.
Fuimos a la tienda el mismo día que la inauguraban (sin saberlo, fue casualidad). No creáis que somos tan famosas en el mundo bloguero como para que nos inviten a este tipo de eventos, jaja. Que conste que no nos importa en absoluto.
Junto con nuestra compra, nos regalaron 2 bolígrafos con perfumador incorporado. Son monísimos.

Esto ha sido todo por el momento. No es mucho, lo sabemos, pero ya queríamos publicar esta entrada, que lleva ya un tiempo en borrador.

We've done it again. We couldn't help ourselves and got a few things lately.

1- Peel-off basecoat from Essence and (discontinued & discounted) lipgloss from the 'Rebels' LE: On a recent visit to Bustillo, the local beauty supplies store I got two of these basecoats (the other one was a small gift for our mum) and after a quick look at the basket of discounted products, I also grabbed this lipgloss. I was drawn by the wearable shade as well as the fact that this is more pigmented than your regular Essence lipgloss.

2 - Imitation perfumes from 'La botica de los perfumes': Marox got herself the Lolita Lempicka one (which was a lot more true to the original than the Saphir version) and Marian the 'Aire de Loewe' that she likes so much.
We visited the store the same day they were opening (we had no idea, it was by chance). Don't think we are so famous in the blogger community to be invited to events, lol. Not that we mind that, anyway.
Together with our purchase, we were given these two ballpoint pens with perfume sprinkler. They're supercute.

This is all for now. It's not a big haul, we know that, but we wanted to publish this post we've had on queue for quite a long time.
