Bizcocho de yogur y Licor 43 (reedición) - Yoghourt and Liqueur 43 cake (re-edition).

Hi again,
Some blogposts ago, I shared with you the recipe for *this* cake.
As I told you at the end of the post, the cake came out quite dense, because I used too much flour. The reason? When I turned the measuring cup amounts into grams, I didn't consider that there are some things that fill the same place as others but have less weight, which is the case of flour.

On Valentine's Day, as I love myself very much :-), I baked this cake just for me.
I made it with the Thermomix, but using the same measurements I mentioned in the 'preparation without food processor' recipe version.

Well, all this intro babbling to share with you the correct amounts in grams to make this recipe.
So here we go.

Ingredients.

-1 yoghourt.
-2 yoghourt measuring cups of sugar, which are 250 gr.
-3 yoghourt measuring cups of baking flour. 270 gr.
-3 large size eggs.
-1/2 yoghourt measuring cups of sunflower seed oil. I put 60 gr.
-11 gr. of baking powder (1 sachet).

-5 full tablespoons of Liqueur 43 (or Cointreau or Grandmarnier).

If you make this recipe with these quantities, it'll come out perfect.

UDLS/NOTW: Essence 'Bloom-a-loom'+Rimmel London 'Pearly Queen'.

Hola, chicas:

Hi girls,
Here I am with a new mani to show you. This time, it's a combo of two polishes.

Let me introduce the four main stars of the show for you.

First of all, I applied the calcium gel from Basic as a base, and once it's dry, the polish from Essence. I waited until it was dry. In its favour, I must say that it gets dry very fast. After just a few minutes I could apply the following polish (the Rimmel London one).
Afterwards, and with the polish underneath still wet, I applied the Poshé top coat, which I'm delighted with, by the way.

This mani has remained intact after a hair wash, on the third day; on the fourth day small chippings appeared and I decided to remove it on the fifth day, as the chippings were very noticeable.

Hi girls,
Here I am again with my second book review.

The first thing that caught my attention about this novel was the funny title, 'Fair princes don't always play fair'. And yes, the novel is funny, but it also has a bit of drama.
As far as I know, the novel has not been yet translated into English -despite the fact that this Spanish writer was born to an American father-. The title above and the excerpt below were translated by Marox for this book review to better illustrate this post.

Falling in and out of love, people cheating on their partners... those are the ingredients that make this novel an easy read.

Excerpt:

Sam and Kate, the main characters in the novel, met each other when they were younger. They were the perfect couple. Twenty years later, they have two teenage daughters, a successful law firm... Life did seem to smile upon them.

But one fatal accident gets Sam's secret out in the open, shattering this picture-perfect existence. We then understand the title of this novel.

However, not only fair princes fail to play fair, neither do princesses. This explains why, to a certain extent, Sam decided to live a double life.

They both try to rebuild their lives, though they realise they still love each other. Their families go to great lengths to make sure they get back together.

At the same time, we follow the story of Michael (Sam's brother) and Terry, Kate's sister. They've always felt something for the other, but neither of them has taken the next step.
After some hilarious misunderstandings, flirty Michael and hot-headed Terry also end up together.

This is the first novel from this writer that I've read and I can tell you now it won't be the last. Actually, I've just began another I'll review when I'm done.
I liked this book very much despite the fact that the ending is both rushed and predictable. But I guess that's what you are getting when reading chick-lit.
The downside of this book? The shocking number of spelling mistakes, which does any book few favours.

And you, have you read anything by this author? What did you think of them?

Productos terminados - 'Finito' products (#23).

Hola, bellezas:

4- Cabezal cepillo eléctrico Oral B Trizone (Marian).

5- Exfoliante facial microdermabrasión Dr. Brandt (formato tubo) (Marox).

Hi, my beauties,
Here we are again with a new quick review of the products we've used up recently.

1- Mineralize Satinfinish Foundation from MAC, in the shade NW25 (Marian).
I bought it at the MAC store in Madrid-Barajas International Airport, before boarding our flight to Berlin, a trip we told you about in one of our first blogposts.
I don't know if it has turned darker over time, but the truth is that this foundation is too dark for me, and I don't like that effect at all.
I didn't want it to rot in oblivion (which would make me angry, because it's not exactly cheap), so I've been using it by mixing it with my BB cream.
Since Asian BB creams tend to be of very light shades, this combination was just perfect to match my skintone.

2- Face cleansing sponge from Stanhome (Marian).
We got some of these with an order from Stanhome we made some years ago.
I've been using it to remove any residues of face masks, face scrub... and so on.
I really love it.
What you see here is actually half a sponge, which is much more handy.
I have another new sponge that I will again cut in half, so they'll last me a long time.
And what will happen when it's used up? Well, similar ones are sold at Mercadona, so there's no problem.

3- Body butter with jojoba oil from Deliplus.
We've both been using this and we like it very much.
Actually, we like all the body butters from Mercadona that we've tried so far. There will probably be better ones out there in terms of hydration and ingredients, but there are many different ones to choose from, and they're fairly reasonably good priced. What else can we ask for?

4- Trizone Electric toothbrush head from Oral B (Marian).
This is the same head that came with the toothbrush that Marox gave me for my birthday.
I've been using it as much as I could, and I can say that I love it.
Now I'm using a different type of brush head (one of the round ones from OralB), and I think I like the first one better.

5- Microdermabrasion face scrub from Dr. Brandt (in tube format) (Marox).
This one was included in a kit of trial-sized products that Marian bought at Sephora, as it was discounted during their Crazy Prices sales.
Since Marian already had (and still has) the one that comes in a jar with more product, she gave me this one.
As for the product, nothing to object here, because I've already tried it, and I like it very much.
But the packaging does deserve a smackdown, because I took pains to get product out of it, talk about use it up entirely.
When it seemed I could no longer get any, I cut the tube and I managed to scrape enough product for several uses.

6- Eye cream from Biocura (ALDI) (Marox).
It's very cheap and with a very natural ingredient list, as most of the beauty products from these German discount supermarkets.
However, I preferred the old version of this product, because the texture was much nicer. This new one reminds me of sunscreen and when comparing it to the older one, it falls short in the moisturizing department.

Well, this is all for now.
We hope you'll find this blogpost useful, or at least, that you won't get bored by it.
See you!

Bizcocho de yogur y licor 43 - Yoghourt and liqueur '43' cake.

Hola, chicas:

Hi girls,
Definitely, I'm flowing uphill.
When everybody's thinking of losing the weight gained in Christmas, I come up with the brilliant idea of baking a cake, and not only that, I share the recipe with you so I'm not the only one putting on weight.

Once upon a time I had a bottle of Liqueur '43' forgotten somewhere in my house, that I had bought for my housewarming party (quite a long time ago).
So Marox, who knew this, was surprised to find a recipe including this ingredient when reading the updates in her blogroll. And she forwarded it to me. It's *this one*, though I've made some changes to it.

Besides, I've converted the amounts into grams (I hope I did it correctly), to make this recipe using my Thermomix, my beloved food processor. Although on second thoughts, I could have used the same measurements of the original recipe, where the yoghourt carton was used as a measuring cup.

Well, enough babbling.
Here is the recipe. I hope you like it (and that you don't put me on your blacklist).

Ingredients:

-1 yoghourt.
-2 yoghourt measuring cups of sugar. For the Thermomix, I calculated 250 gr.
-3 yoghourt measuring cups of baking flour. I calculated 375 gr., although finally I didn't use that much (only a bit less), because I run out of it.
-3 large size eggs.
-1/2 yoghourt measuring cups of sunflower seed oil. I put 60 gr.
-11 gr. of baking powder (1 sachet).
-5 full tablespoons of Liqueur 43 (or Cointreau or Grandmarnier).

Preparation (without food processor).

Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
Grease a 22 cm-diameter cake tin.
Pour the yoghourt into a bowl. Clean the carton and use it as a measuring cup.
Add the eggs to the bowl and beat in.
Then add the sugar, the flour and the baking powder and mix until combined. Add the oil and blend in. Finally, add the liqueur and mix.
Pour the mixture into your cake tin or silicone baking mold and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
Let it cool and unmold it over a grid.

Preparation with Thermomix.

Preheat the oven to 180ºC.
Grease a 22 cm diameter cake tin (I used a bundt cake silicone baking mold, and honestly, I don't know the diameter size).
Put the sugar and the eggs in the Thermomix bowl and set 2 minutes, 37ºC, speed 3.
Next, add in the oil, the yoghourt and the liqueur and blend for 15 seconds in speed 3.
After that, add the flour and the baking powder and set 15 seconds in speed 3.
Pour the mixture into the greased mold and bake at 180ºC for about 30 minutes.
Let it cool and unmold it over a grid.

My sponge cake came out quite dense. Maybe I used too much flour? I don't know. Anyway, it tasted great.

I encourage you (if you don't kill me first) to try this recipe. Let me know how yours turned out and whether you made any changes.

Drop us a line in the comments section below to tell us what you use those liqueurs you never drink for. I'm afraid I take after our mum in this. She would use the fancy Gran Duque de Alba and Torres 10 bottles my father got for Christmas from his boss waaay back... for the chicken gravy, rather than end up throwing them all away. When she told a friend who liked to drink those for a treat, the poor man couldn't believe his ears and told her that was tantamount to sacrilege.

Sweet greetings, lol.

EDIT:

I've baked this cake again, but changing the amount of some ingredients (mainly flour), because as I told you above, the cake came out quite dense.
Although I've used the Thermomix, I've used the yoghourt measuring cups mentioned in the 'Preparation without food processor' section.
This time the result has been perfect.
