UDLS/NOTW: Flormar #423.

Hola, chicas:

Hi girls,

Here I am again to show you my latest mani so far.

I've used the polish #423 from Flormar, in a light blue shade, very beautiful. I bought it last summer and I wanted to use it for the first time, but I've been a bit lazy about manis.

As usual, here you can see the three main stars of this mani.

First I used the calcium gel from Basic, then two thin coats of this polish, and the top coat coat from Poshé to finish.

It's been in perfect conditions for 8 days. After small chippings in two fingers of my right hand, I decided to remove it.

Now it's time to think of what polish I'll be using for my next mani. I still have some unused.

Well, this is all for now.
See you soon!

Productos terminados #42 - 'Finito' products #42.

Hola, chicas:

4- Champú "Smooth as Silk" de Giovanni (Marox).

Hi girls,

Here we are again with a new review of the stuff we've used up recently, and a technology product that Marox sadly has to include in this section.

1- Shower gel sample from Ziaja (Marox).
We got this as a freebie with some purchases at the local Catrice retailer, that unfortunately closed down a while ago. I used this on a recent trip and I liked it. With such a small amount, my only memory is that it was nice though didn't seem particularly lathering.

2- 'Love spell' body spray from Victoria's Secret (Marian).
I've been using it after showering and I love its scent. You know how I love this kind of products, so I always try to have another one for backup.
I'm using 'Sheer Love', also from Victoria's Secret these days and I couldn't really tell you which one I like the most.

3- 'Gold progress' make-up remover oil from Deliplus.
It's a quite thick oil-based remover and it does the job well, though these are never the last step in our cleansing routine.
We always use a facial soap to get rid of any remaining makeup, as at the same time soap does leave a greasy feeling on the face.

4- 'Smooth as Silk' shampoo from Giovanni (Marox). I bought this a while ago off iHerb -though it's also available from Vitacost, so make sure you compare prices- and the truth is it's a really, really nice product. It lathers great, smells nice and makes you forget the fact you're not using a regular shampoo (in the sense that is not chemical-laden). It's worth trying and I wouldn't mind buying this again. Marian tested it as well a few times.

5- Homemade eye make-up remover (Marox). First things first, don't be fooled by the Yves Rocher bottle. I reused it, sanitized it and put our homemade makeup remover in said bottle. There was still some product left, but as you can tell from the picture, it looked kinda gross after being unused for a while and that was my cue to throw it away.
We've now turned to micellar cleansing water instead to remove our eye makeup.

6- Olympus SP500UZ digital camera (Marox). I meant to use this camera, that was gathering dust at home after getting my hands on point-and-shoot ones, to snap my pics with at the Roxette concert this summer... but it turns out I had left a set of batteries inside and they eventually leaked. Marian and I both did several attempts at cleaning the battery compartment without success. It's already at the local household waste recycling centre. RIP.

These have been our 'empties' so far.
See you soon!

Mis regalos de cumpleaños - My birthday gifts.

Hola, chicas:

Hi ladies,

In this post I'd like to show you my birthday presents, that I got a few weeks ago.

1 - CKin2U Eau de Toilette: If I'm not mistaken, we'd tried this at the airport in Stockholm and liked it very much. Marox took note of that fact -as is customary in her- and nailed it, as usual.

2 - Invisibobble hair bands: The truth is that after having read a few reviews about this product, I doubted it would be any good. People claimed that these hair bands were not suitable for curly hair... but the thing is that once I've tried them I can say that they're really comfortable to wear, as they keep your mane firmly in place -and I do have a good mane-. When you take them off, a few hairs get caught in the way, but it's not nearly the same as what you'd have with traditional hair bands. These get two thumbs up from me.

3 - Camping cutlery set: Well, for camping or for travelling, which is what I intend to use them for. Marox usually packs two sets of plastic cutlery when we travel and they have proved handy indeed. These are made of metal and thefore will be a lot more durable.

4- Mini keyboard for Smart TV.
After trying the one that Marox had bought for our parents long ago in my TV, she ordered this one for me.
The difference with the traditional remote control is very noticeable, mainly when you enter the browser, because you can write just like you would in a computer keyboard, without having to search for the individual characters in a menu.

5- 'Frozen yoghourt and much more' book.
Marox knows what I terrible sweet tooth I have, so she knew this gift would be a safe bet.
As my birthday is a few days before the end of summer, and  the weather is cool weather over here, I didn't get round to trying any of the recipes, but you'll see...
She bought this at an ALDI supermarket.

6- Keratin hair mask, from Kallos.
I haven't tried it yet, because there's quite a big amount left from the one I'm currently using.
But Marox knew that I had my eyes on this in one of my virtual visits to Fapex.

7- Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (8").
This one has been my biggest gift, from my parents.
I've sometimes used my sister's iPad mini, and ever since I've ogled this kind of devices.
In my case, I chose one with Android OS, which I'm already used to.

8- Case for Sambsung tablet.
This is a gift to myself.
It's the one that I liked the most from all the ones I saw, but it was difficult to choose, because all of them were very beautiful. I bought it at Amazon from *this* seller.

9- Tempered glass screen protector.
This was also a gift I bought myself, but it finally was a complete mess.
Marox is very happy with the one she bought for her iPad mini, as it is a perfect fit.
I think mine was faulty or something, because it only got stuck to one half of the screen, despite having followed the instructions very carefully.
It broke while I was removing it, so it went straight to my trash.
I bought it off eBay from *this* seller.

Well, this was all for now. Not that I'm complaining or anything.

UDLS / NOTW: Isadora #786 'Ipanema Beach'

¡Hola chicas!

Hi ladies!

Here I am with a mani using the only polish I've tried from my second Stockholm Haul.

Day 1: (Sunday): I painted my nails after washing my hair, so they'll last longer. For this mani I used the GOSH Holo Base, as it was basically what I had at my parents' home in our hometown, Zamora. Once dry, I applied two coats of the Isadora polish in 'Ipanema Beach' that is the highlight of this post. We bought this on sale at Åhlens department store in Stockholm, during our latest visit to the Swedish capital.
When it was dry enough, I applied a final coat of topcoat and used the Essence BTGN sealer for that purpose.
This is my second Isadora nail polish and it just goes to prove the good impression I got with my first: the narrow and firm brush makes application a dream. The polish has great coverage and it dries really fast.
I'm not sure whether the slight colourshifting effect really shows in the pics.

Day 6 (Saturday): Almost a week later, I finally remove this polish, as my tips were chipped. However, being a light shade, you can get away with some chipping without it really showing.

This lasted a really long time on me, though I must say I did go to the hairdresser's in between, so the polish didn't go through its usual routine.

I hope you liked this polish. I'll try to paint my nails more often so I can share my manis with you.

De compras en Estocolmo - Shopping in Stockholm.

Hola, chicas:

En primer lugar fuimos a The Body Shop.

No obstante, no sólo estuvimos probando productos.

Me costó 125 SEK (13,28€).

Me costó 185 SEK (19,66€).

Me costó 29 SEK (3,08€).

4- Esmalte Isadora "Ipanema Beach".

Me costó 39 SEK (4,14€).

Me costó 39 SEK (4,14€).

Me costó 39 SEK (4,14€).

Hi girls,

Here we are again, this time to show you what we bought in Stockholm.
We only had a couple of hours (more or less) to hit the stores and make some purchases.
Nevertheless, we brought home all these goodies you'll be seeing in a moment.

First of all, we went to The Body Shop. There are several stores around town and having visited the one in Drottninggatan in our previous visit to Stockholm, we went to the one located inside T-Centralen this time.
There are TBS counters inside different department stores, like Åhlens.
We had to seize the chance to get inside one of their stores, because we can try out the products. That way, we can see for ourselves if they're worth considering for future online orders (as we don't have a store around here).
So yeah, we sniffed, fingered and tested as much as we could, lol.

However, we didn't merely try products but brought home a couple of them too.

1- Peppermint cooling foot lotion (Marian).
I didn't have any moisturizer for my feet. I think this one will be a great match great to the foot scrub I bought last year, also in Stockholm, by the way.
I paid 125 SEK (€13.28).

2- Camomile sumptuous cleansing butter (Marox).
I had already seen this product online, but I didn't dare to order it without having at least tried it before.
After having spent a while testing products at the store, I thought buying some of them would be only fair. This cleansing butter was the chosen one. I think it'll be a great addition to our travel case, due to its practical texture and packaging.
It takes very little space and there is no risk of spill or mess.
I paid 185 SEK (€19.66) for it.

Together with our purchase, we were given a pair of samples of  their 'Drops of Youth' concentrate. Though the Spanish TBS online store was having sales at the time, we did not find any in Stockholm. But considering we got the chance to play around and check out their latest releases, it's a somewhat fair exchange.

We went to Åhléns Department Store afterwards, and though we had a quick look at nearly all sections, we made our purchases at the drugstore.

We bought all this stuff (and some more we will be giving away in the future).

3- Depend 058 nail polish.
It's in a purple shade with small multicolor particles. As you know, I love this shade for nail polishes, so I couldn't leave it there.
I paid for it 29 SEK (€3.08).

4- 'Ipanema Beach' nail polish from Isadora.
We liked it so much that we bought two (one for each). It's in a golden shade, but rosy at the same time..., you know, it's a very special shade.
These were 29 SEK each (€3.08).

5- L'Oréal 'Boudoir Rose' nail polish.
It's in a pale pink shade, perfect for subtle manis.
It was 39 SEK (€4.14).

6- L'Oréal 'Golden Coquillage' nail polish.
It's in a nude shade with a hint of gold that makes it different. Although Marox already owns similar shades, she was drawn to it enough to add it to our basket.
It was 39 SEK (€4.14).

7- L'Oréal 'Mysterious Icon' nail polish.
The colour is somewhat strange in my opinion, but I love it all the same. It's like purple, but also grey and golden..., and with small multicolour particles.
It was 39 SEK (€4.14).

Besides all these goodies, we also bought beauty and house deco magazines, as we use to do when we travel abroad.
The beauty magazine includes a Clarins sample.

Anyway, these were our purchases in Stockholm.
We hope you liked them.
Tell us on the comments section below.
See you!

Productos terminados #41 - 'Finito' products #41.

Hola chicas:

Hi ladies,

We're back with a quick review of our most recent Empties.

1 - Daiso blackhead peel-off mask (Marox).
I bought this off Ebay and had it at my parents' place in our hometown, Zamora. Although a little goes a long way, I couldn't use it to the very end, as it stuck to the tube and was almost impossible to spread. I've already got a replacement for this.

2 - Trizone Oral B brushhead: (Marox). As you know, we like to buy these at the local flea market in Burgos whenever they are available. We've tried almost all the ones they have. As for myself, I don't like this as much as I like others, since I get the impression that it lasts less than others because the bristles get squashed faster. Marian likes it very much, though.

3 - Bliss Body Butter (Marox): It was a freebie with a Swedish magazine I brought home last summer and I've been using it occasionally. The citrusy scent is very pleasant and it spreads really well. I recall seeing some Bliss products in Sephora, but I have no idea how much this costs.

4 - Travel-sized Sephora deodorant spray (Marox) We bought these some time ago at the Sephora sales. I've used mine when travelling and found it more than acceptable, as it is free from aluminium and provides good odour protection. Would consider buying this in a bigger size if such thing existed.

5 - 'Tradition du Hammam' Yves Rocher Body Scrub (Marox). I've used several of these jars over the years, as Marian used to buy Yves Rocher stuff fairly often. Over time, you discover other brands that carry equally good products that are more reasonably priced, so I won't repurchase for the time being. However, it's one of those products from YR that is worth trying at least once. The store has different discounts all year round, ranging from 50% offers to 2x1 deals.

These are our 'finito' products so far. But don't worry, because we're 'cooking' another post of our empties series with more reviews.
See you soon!

De vuelta a... Estocolmo (IV) - Back to... Stockholm (IV).

Hola, chicas:

Hi girls,

In this post we'll tell you about what we did on the fourth day of our second visit to Stockholm. You can read our account of the *first*, *second* and *third* days too.

Day 4.

Our last full day in Stockholm began by visiting Drottningholm, something we had meant to see the previous summer.

We took a *boat* from Stadshuskajen (the quay near the City Hall) to Drottningholm.
Although the ticket is not included with the Stockholm Card, we got a discount with it.
The visit to *Drottningholm* is included with the Card.

The Palace opens everyday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There are guided tours in Swedish and English at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
Photographs for private use -without flash- are permitted inside.

Drottningholm is the King and Queen's home, and in our opinion, it's a lot more worth the visit than the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
We wanted to start the visit by touring The Royal Theatre, but as we had to wait for the next available guided tour (in English), we killed the time with a walk along the gardens, and by taking some photos.

Our next stop was the Palace, that according to UNESCO, is the best example of a royal residence built in the 18th century in Sweden and is representative of all European architecture of that period.

After the visit... it was time for some lunch.
Near the Drottningholm quay there's a cozy little restaurant, so we ate *there*.
In our opinion, the menu was quite expensive (about €46 total). Thankfully, we made extensive use of the restaurant's complimentary wifi to keep in touch with our family (God bless Whatsapp).

Afterwards, we went for a walk along the quay, waiting for the departure of the next boat back to Stockholm.
If you choose the boat as your means of transport, keep in  mind that the last boat departs from Drottningholm at 7.30 p.m.

We spent the entire boat ride back chatting with a couple from Valencia, who were travelling with their children.
By the way, they told us they had booked their flights and accomodation online, and they got a really good price, so we'll probably book our next trips on the Internet.
If you've tried online booking, we'd love to hear how that went.

And finally, we decided to end our last evening in Stockholm with some retail therapy, though we only had a little bit more than an hour for that.
Expect a Stockholm Haul Post in the near future.

Day 5.

Right after breakfast it was time to gather the rest of our belongings, checking out and get to the *Flygbussarna* stop that is a few steps down the street. We'd purchased the tickets prior to our trip, so it was merely a question of storing our luggage and hopping on. It was that fast. We paid 198 SEK for the tickets (€21.04).

Unlike with our return bus last year, this coach had a working WiFi that we used on the journey to the airport. It takes nearly 50 minutes to Arlanda airport.

When we got to the terminal, we had some time to kill until the checking desks opened so we struck up a conversation with a really nice Hungarian girl with her dog, Ida.

Time flew by and before going to the checking desks, she taught Marian how to say she's allergic to mushrooms in Hungarian.

We were flying direct with Finnair / Iberia Express and were pleasantly surprised by how punctual and nice the staff on this Iberia subsidiary airline were. Unfortunately, the smooth flight was ruined by some unexpected turbulence while landing, as poor Marian had a dizzy spell and spent the remaining time on the aircraft dizzy and vomiting. She looked so pale that the parking staff advised us to go to the airport's medical service so she could be thoroughly checked.

This mishap forced us to change our plans and spend the night at a *hotel* near the airport. This Ibis hotel was only a 2-star hotel, but it was a welcome surprise with its comfortable beds that Marian was specially thankful for in the state she was in.

So this was our account of our stay in Stockholm. The only remaining posts are a Haul post and another one about the hotel.
