Mis regalos de cumpleaños / My birthday gifts.

Hola, chicas:

No lo he probado todavía.

2- Desodorante "Tom's of Maine".
Todavía no he probado éste en concreto.

Todavía no lo he usado.

Hi girls,
My birthday was a few weeks ago, so I'll be showing you here all the gifts I got from Marox.

1- 'Rose Gold' blush from Sleek: In our latest visit to Beauty Gloss, Marox noticed me lusting after this blush and knowing her as you probably do by now, she took note of that.
It's a pinky-coral shade with golden shimmer. Haven't tried it yet.

2- 'Tom's of Maine' deodorant: She knows I like aluminium-free deodorants and added this to her Iherb order from a couple of months ago. There are certain days every month when our crystal deodorants are not enough. These feel more effective, though I haven't put this one to the test yet. I'd rather use up the ones I have on rotation at the moment.

3- Highlighting pearl face mask from Kueshi. This was another item that caught my eye in our latest visit to the local beauty store I mentioned earlier, Beauty Gloss. I was drawn to the unique format.
I have a couple of trial-sized peel off masks I'll use before this, but I have to say I really want to try this one.

4- Chocolate body scrub, from Giovanni: I'm currently using the one she gave me from The Body Shop, but as soon as I've used that up I'll try this next.
As a self-confessed chocoholic, I'm sure I'll love this (even if it's not edible).

5- Highlighting face mask from 'Quick Fix Facials'. My sister must surely think I have dull skin, because giving me two brightening products at the same time seems a bit over the top. I won't hold a grudge against her, lol. Purchased at Boots International with the next item.

6- Microdermabrasion face scrub No.7 from Boots. She's definitely playing it safe when giving me these sort of products, being such a die-hard fan of the Dr. Brandt microdermabrasion cream. What I didn't like about it was the price, so she found this much cheaper alternative.
Needless to say I have no idea how much this was, but surely it didn't reach the +80 EUR price tag the Dr. Brandt has.
Haven't tested it yet.

7- Amber and Rose Hip Body scrub from Keims (trial size). The small size is perfect to take with me on a holiday, as we usually do with those. It was a freebie that came with my next present.

8- Custom magnetic palettes. These were handmade by Mª Jose (LovelPalettes), a very talented lady from the Basque Country. She makes these in three different sizes: large, medium and small. Mine are the small and the medium-sized ones.
I didn't know if this would be a success or not, but it has been, really.
What I really loved the most were the cat footprints. That's why they're really custom-made.
I've put my NYX and Catrice eyeshadows on the biggest palette. The look really good, though the magnet in it can't keep some eyeshadows (like NYX ones) properly stuck.

Marox has been successful in everything she's given me. I don't know about her secret.
I'm much more predictable. I only have to look at her wishlist (constantly updated) in this blog.

I'm finally ending this post showing you the gift I got from Sephora this year.
No, it's not that body lotion I've shown you every year, but this stackable 'lipgloss tower'.
It's sooo cute, perfect for carrying it in your purse.

These were all my make-up related gifts for my birthday (most of them from Marox).
I hope you like this post.
I got a new watch from my parents.
Who knows! Maybe you'll get an idea on what to give.
See you soon. Bye!

Productos Terminados / 'Finito' products (#31).

Hola, chicas:

2- Colonia 'Like a girls' night out' de Essence.

Eran los tonos "Golden Pearl", "Iced Blue" y "White as Snow".

Hi girls,
Here we are with a new review of the stuff we've used up recently.

1 - 'Como la noche = Like the night' Deliplus fragrance (marox): As I mentioned a while ago, this has been my first Deliplus fragrance. This Spanish supermarket sells their own brand of perfumes. I liked this, though I won't be repurchasing for the time being, with my enjoying the Saphir imitation fragrances so much.

2 -  Essence 'Like a girls' night out' fragrance. Another cologne, as you can see. We bought this shortly before our Liverpool getaway because we like to spritz ourselves even while on holiday and the samples you usually get from stores are of little use. Well, at least in Marian's case, since she makes liberal use of perfumes in general, lol.
This is the right size, though. We liked it enough to try a different scent.
We'd repurchase this either in the smaller or the larger size in the future.

3 - Avon cream eyeshadows (marox): These had been on my vanity case like forever and had a funky smell the last time I checked them. Needless to say, I wasn't going to use them on my lids again. Not a chance! So it was time to part with them, I guess.
The shades I had were 'Golden Pearl', 'Iced Blue' and 'White as Snow'. No idea if these are still available, sorry.

4- '3D White' Oral B replacement brush head (marox): Our electric toothbrush came with the 'Trizone' brush head, but I really wanted to try out other compatible ones and this was one of them. It's supposed to be whitening, but I'm rather wary of such claims. Thankfully we can get the brush heads really cheap and thus compare the results obtained using the different types available.

5 - Essence 'Blackmania' mascara (marox): I usually buy my mascaras during the Essence clearance sales. This one has both people raving and ranting about it. As for me, I liked it: it highlights your natural lashes, is really black and does not fall out as time goes by. I think I've mentioned before that I'm not really picky when it comes to mascaras.

This is all for now.
We hope you'll find this post useful.
See you soon!

Guía de Viaje de Estocolmo / Stockholm Travel Guide (IV)

Hola, chicas:

Hi ladies,

It was time to continue -and hopefully be done with - our Stockholm travel series.

Day 6.

No, we haven't forgotten and just skipped day 5 for no reason. The thing is that's the day we spent doing some shopping. As before, that will come in a separate post.

Our day began with a visit to Riddarholmskyrkan or The Riddarholm Church, located in Riddarholmen. No surprise there, right?
It is the burial church of the Swedish monarchs and is currently only used for funerals and special functions.

It is one of the oldest buildings in Stockholm, with some parts being erected as early as the 13th century.
If you are a Stockholm cardholder, admission is free.
It opens everyday from 10 am to 5 pm. At 2 pm there's a guided tour in English. We didn't take the guided tour, though.

We then went to the Cathedral or Storkyrkan, which is also included in the Stockholm Card. As you can see, we really got our money's worth.

The Cathedral is the oldest church in Stockholm and is the seat of the diocese of Stockholm.

This single-tower construction is made of plastered bricks and the walls are painted yellow with white details. The original style dates back to the 13th century Gothic architecture, though the exterior underwent a major renovation in the Baroque style around 1740 by architect Johan Eberhard Carlberg. Highlights of the building include the statue of St. George and the Dragon, probably from the 15th century and attributed to Bernt Nokte.

We saw the Cathedral on our own at first, but afterwards we managed to see it on a (free) guided tour that was highly entertaining and informative. Thanks to him we discovered some lesser known bits of information about the place: that seafarers came to pray there to seek protection for the journey ahead, that the dragon has the face of the Danish King and that the current King, Carl Gustav, wasn't too fond of the large candelabra and ordered it to be removed for the nuptials of Crown Princess Victoria. He ended the visit by lighting a candle to us all in the large round metal candleholder pictured above symbolizing the world.

Here ends our cultural visit to the Swedish capital city.
We chose to return to our hotel early in order  to pack our bags and ask the hotel staff all we needed to know for our return trip.

Day 7.

The day we came here, we got to the central station from the airport using the Arlanda Express train. However, for our return trip we decided to use Flygbussarna instead. This coach took us to the airport in double time than the train did, but it's cheaper.
But the main reason for using this mean of transport was that the Flugbussarna bus stop was really close to the hotel.
A long walk having to carry our heavy luggage would have been a total nuisance.

After getting to the airport, we had to wait a bit to check in our luggage and do the bag drop.
Once the checking in and passing the security control were done, we had enough time to have a look (and buy a few things) at the the airport shops.

While we were having lunch at one of the restaurants of the airport, a heavy storm began. We were scared because we had to board a plane shortly after...
Fortunately, the storm stopped when we boarded. However, during our flight there were some turbulences. Too many clouds, I guess. But we made it unscathed in the end, lol.

Well, this has been our very own travel guide of Stockholm.
We hope you enjoyed it.
See you!

Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry Haul

Hola, chicas:

Hi girls,
Here we are again to show you our latest haul.

1 -Snail mucus moisturizing emulsion from SCINIC (Marian).
Marox told me that moisturizing emulsions are lighter, more appropriate for oily skin.
So I decided to buy one, but different from hers.
I haven't tried it yet, so I'll tell you when I do.
As Marox said when she showed you hers, the glass bottle makes using the product up to the very end difficult, but beggars cannot be choosers.

2 -Snail mucus BB cream from SCINIC (Marian).
As I'd almost used up my Holika Holika BB cream, I included this with the same order.
I'll let you how it works for me when I try it.
I bought both products off eBay, from *this* seller.

The seller also included all these samples.

3-  Collapsible silicone hair drier diffuser (marox): I thought it could be handy to have a couple of these to take when travelling, but unfortunately they don't fit all hairdriers. They did work for the professional one our mum has and the regular one Marian has, but it didn't fit the one in our hotel room in Stockholm. It was a narrow miss, though.
I got this off Ebay from the seller *kohangoffice2011* and paid $13.99 for each.

4 - Nail art dotting tools (marox): in my latest order to Buyincoins, I finally worked up the courage to order some dotting tools, in case we ever get creative with our manis. It comes in a set of 5 that we shared like good sisters usually do.

5 - 'Like a new love' Essence fragrance (marox): I bought this travel-sized bottle to take to our recent trip to Stockholm. Since I ended up buying another from Saphir, I offered this to Marian so she could keep it in her vanity case while I packed the other one. That way, Marian could bathe herself in it without the fear of leaving me with nothing to use, lol.
The scent is not overpowering at all and is rather powdery, I'd say.

Well, this is all for now.
I hope you like this post.
See you!

Pedicuras de verano - Summer Pedis

¡Hola chicas!

Hi girls!

Today we've prepared a compilation featuring some of the pedis we've sported this summer. Marox decided to send her nail psoriasis packing so to speak for a few days and, as you can see, painted her toenails a couple of times.

The first photo in the left-hand column shows first Marox's foot and Marian's tiny one beside it. Notice the difference in size, don't you?
Marox painted her nails with Essence #133 'Oh my glitter' polish and Marian used 'Dinner for 2' by Sephora. It's a very vibrant fuchsia.

In the first pic of the right-hand column you can see how the Essence #02 'I like' from the Blossoms LE looks on Marox's feet.
Around the same date, Marian decided to use exactly the same lacquer for her pedi. She swears it wasn't on purpose!
But Marian took no pictures of that pedi, so unfortunately there are none to share and you'll have to trust her word.

Which polishes decorated your toenails this summer?

Hi again!

Today it's time for a new installment of our Stockholm Travel Guide series. In part one *here*, we introduced the city and told you about getting there. In part two *here*, we wrote about our first day in the Swedish capital.

Day 3.

Our day began with a visit to the Royal Palace.
We started out by visiting the small 'Tre Kronor' (Three Crowns) Museum, inside the Palace complex.
By the time we were done it was 12pm already, we were just in time to see the changing of the guard (if memory serves us right that takes place twice a day, at 12pm and at 20pm).

The sun was scorching up in the sky. It was just as well we had some long scarves we could use to cover our heads. Having a fan would have been great. Yes, it was that hot! Who would have thought we'd have 32º C up north in Scandinavia?
As a side note, the band played some popular tunes, such as the 'JAG' TV series score and 'All by myself' by Céline Dion.

After the changing of the guard, we went inside to see the Palace. Unfortunately, no photos are allowed inside for copyright reasons, or at least that's what we were told. Anyway, it probably has more to do with people then buying photos and books at the Palace shop once your visit is over.
We felt this visit was not a must, so bear that in mind if your time in the city is short.

We then headed to the Vasa Museum, housing the impressive warship, constructed in 1628 that sunk 15 minutes after launching. The ship was both too tall and too narrow and was loaded with too many cannons - presumably as a sort of psychological battle with the enemy- and was thus too heavy, capsizing as a result of all these.
It spent an astonishing 333 years under the water.
When it was eventually recovered, it was in a reasonably good condition. Only some things needed a full restoration, which was done in such a way that ensured visitors could tell the difference between what's new and what's not.

The Vasa Museum has a restaurant, where we took our lunch break. The daily menu was delicious -we tried the famous Swedish meatballs-, though it was too pricey for our liking, at about 406 SEK for the two of us, about 42 EUR.

We then headed for the Ericsson Globe, but before we went in there, we stopped by the Globben Shopping Centre. Unfortunately, it was 45 minutes before closing time, so we just looked around and decided to put off our shopping until we could so without hurrying.
At the Ericsson Globe you'll be able to enjoy the views from the SkyView pods -a visit that is included in the Stockholm Card, as everything we went to see that day.

These glass pods take visitors to the top of the Ericsson Globe, where they can take in the spectacular views of Stockholm. The visit is 20 minutes long.
Furthermore, the Ericsson Globe is one of the top concert venues in the country. Apparently, it's very expensive to hold events there and few artists can boast having sold out the Globen. Roxette has succeeded doing so several times, whereas Madonna has not.

The day was packed with action, so it's time to get back to our base and recharge our batteries for the next day.

Day 4.

Our day began by going to Djurgården to visit Skansen, one of the world's first open-air museums.

Founded in 1891 by Artur Hazelius, a scholar with an interest in ethnography, it quickly gained popularity. It shows the way of life in different parts of Sweden, with more than 150 homes and farms representing the country and different moments in history.

The museum is also home to a zoo containing a wide range of Scandinavian animals.

You'll get a map with your ticket that will help you navigate your way through the museum, or otherwise you might get lost.
We covered most of it during our morning visit.

We took a lunch break and then went on to visit the ABBA Museum & Swedish Hall of Fame, honouring artists and bands that have been onstage for 20 years or longer.

It is NOT included in the Stockholm Card - pity-, and tickets are 195 SEK per adult, a little over 20 EUR.

It is pricey, but it's totally worth it. We really had a blast there!
You can even record yourself singing along to some of ABBA's tunes, karaoke-style.
We did two: The Winner Takes It All (which is one of their most difficult ones!) and Mamma Mia (easier, as it is better-known).

If you ever visit the museum and muster the strength to record some ABBA songs like we did, remember that you can download the tracks from the museum's website no longer than 30 days following your visit. The files will be deleted after that time.
At the Swedish Hall of Fame marox stopped to check out any Roxette-related stuff.

That's all for this third installment in our Stockholm Travel Guide series.
We hope you enjoyed it.
See you soon!

Productos terminados - Finito Products (II)

Today I have a new post featuring the products we've used up lately.

1. Missha Perfect Cover #21: I talked about it many months ago *here*. Although I totally love this one because of the excellent coverage and finish, there are so many BB Creams out there that I really feel like trying others on the market. Thanks to María I had the chance of trying a couple from Skin79, though I've tried another one since then from another brand I liked even more though it wasn't the one I bought in the end. I finished it off by cutting the tube and moving the remaining product to two 12ml sample jars and the first of them was full to the brim. I'm still using that, so to be entirely honest, this product is not completely 'finito' yet. I purchased my MPC from Bellogirl.

2. Makeup Remover Cotton Pads from Carrefour Discount: We've repurchased these a few times already, and use this both to remove our eye makeup and nail polish. We really like these as well as the Iseree ones from Lidl's own brand and get one or the other depending on where we happen to do our shopping. What we like the most about them is the stitching that makes them a lot sturdier than your average pads. *Beware*: Carrefour has changed these and they are no longer 100% cotton or that sturdy, or so they say.

3. Caravan Green Tea Eau de Toilette: We bought it at Carrefour. It's the first one we've tried from this brand and even though we liked it, we'll try other brands.

4. StriVectin face cream, included in a trial kit: It's been the first product in the StriVectin set that marox won at the Delicate Hummingbird giveaway we've used up. After only a couple of weeks of use, you cannot obviously expect any miracles in your complexion, but we're not very impressed by it all the same. It does moisturize your skin, like many other cheaper creams will do. We've been using it as a night cream. It does have a slight mint effect that you can feel on your skin, but it's not overpowering or feels uncomfortable.

5- Cherry Blossom body spray from Les Cosmétiques (Carrefour): This is our second bottle, though we'll try a different one from the same range for a change. We like to use this right after the shower, before going to bed and so on. The scent lasts longer in your skin and clothes than with the ones from Mercadona and the spritz pump works better as well.

6- Baby wipes from Carrefour: Though we usually buy the ones from Mercadona, the last ones we'd used were a little drier than usual so we bought these instead, because they have a firm closure to keep them damp. We use these to get rid of the bulk of our makeup, as a first step in our makeup removal routine. We're currently using the baby wipes we bought on our last visit to Mercadona.

¿Y vosotras?
These are the latest beauty items we've used up. What about you?
