Look de fiesta - Party look.

Hola, chicas:
En realidad este ha sido un look navideño. Así fue como me maquillé para la comida de Navidad del trabajo.
Pero como ya han pasado las navidades, lo dejaremos como look de fiesta, pues obviamente vale para cualquier ocasión.

Sin más dilación, voy a detallaros lo que he utilizado.

Para el rostro, he utilizado mi BB cream Luminous Silk, de Holika Holika, en el tono "Light Beige", mezclada con un poco de maquillaje; en este caso el Mineralize Satinfinish de MAC, en el tono NW25, que por sí solo, me queda muy oscuro. Así consigo mi tono de piel.

Para sellar el maquillaje, he utilizado los polvos sueltos "Noche y Día", que me regaló Marox hace un montón de tiempo (antes de empezar a escribir este blog) y que compró en una tienda local de productos de peluquería.
Como colorete, he utilizado el de Alverde, en el tono "Flamingo".
Como iluminador, el dúo de iluminador/bronceador de Benefit "Be a perfect 10".

Para los ojos, he utilizado la paleta de Essence "Nothing else metals", de la edición limitada "Metallics". Para delinear el párpado superior, el delineador líquido de P2 en negro. Para las pestañas, la máscara de Essence "Multi action smokey eyes", que me encanta.

Para los labios, he utilizado el labial líquido de L'Oréal HIP, en el tono "Turbulent".

Y esto ha sido todo.

Hi ladies,
To be honest, this was actually a Christmas look. It was the make-up I wore for the Christmas lunch with my workmates.
But as Christmas days are gone, let's say this is a party look, because you can obviously wear this look any time.

Without further ado, I'll tell you what I used to create it.

For the face, I used my BB cream from Holika Holika 'Luminous Silk', in the shade 'Light beige', mixed with a tiny amount of my Mineralize Satinfinish Foundation from MAC, in the shade NW25, which is too dark for my skintone on its own. This way (mixing the two of them) is how I get my skintone.

To seal my make-up, I used the 'Noche y Día' loose powder , which Marox gave me a long time ago (before starting with this blog), purchased at a local beauty supply store.
On my cheeks, I used my Alverde blush in the shade 'Flamingo'.
And for highlight, the highlighting/bronzing duo from Benefit in 'Be a perfect 10'.

As for the eyes, I used the Essence eyeshadow quad 'Nothing else metals' from the 'Metallics' LE. To line the upper lid, I used the liquid eyeliner from P2 in black. And for the lashes, my mascara from Essence 'Multi action smokey eyes', which I love.

And finally, on my lips I used the liquid lipstick from L'Oréal HIP, in the shade 'Turbulent'.

UDLS / NOTW: Manicura navideña - Xmas mani

Hacía tiempo que no os traía una manicura. No se trata de ningún esmalte nuevo, sino de una combinación de esmaltes que me pareció adecuada para estas fiestas.

En las fotos, llevo una capa de la base 'Nail Envy' de OPI, seguida de dos capas del esmalte #51 de RivaldeLoop (comprado en una droguería Rossmann de Berlín). Cuando estuvo lo suficientemente seco, apliqué una capa generosa del esmalte de efectos #67 'Make it Golden' de los antiguos Colour&Go de Essence, en todas las uñas salvo las anulares, donde había aplicado una capa generosa del 'Midnight Kiss' de China Glaze. Para prolongar la duración de la manicura, apliqué una capa del esmalte de acabado Poshé. No me puedo quejar de la duración de esta manicura, ya que me duró más de cuatro días, fregando, limpiando y demás.

It's been a while since my last mani. I don't have any new lacquers to show, but rather a combo of polishes that I thought would look great together in this holiday season.



In the pics, I'm wearing a coat of the 'Nail Envy' by OPI basecoat, followed by two of the #51 RivaldeLoop polish that I bought at a Rossmann discount drugstore in Berlin. Once it was dry enough, I added a generous layer of the Essence glitter #67 'Make it Golden' from their now discontinued old range of Colour & Go polishes. I applied that in all nails except for my ring fingernails, which were painted with a generous layer of the China Glaze 'Midnight Kiss' lacquer.
To extend the wear of this mani, I topped it with some Poshé topcoat. I don't have anything bad to say about the lasting time of this mani, more than four days, doing the washing up, cleaning and that kind of stuff.

Libros / Books: "En el país de la nube blanca" / 'In the Land of the Long White Cloud', de / by Sarah Lark.

Aquí os traigo mi primera reseña bibliográfica, pues como sabéis, es Marox quien suele escribir este tipo de entradas.
A ver si, tras romper el hielo, me animo a compartir con vosotras las opiniones sobre los libros que voy leyendo.

"En el país de la nube blanca" es la primera parte de una trilogía basada en las experiencias de los primeros colonos ingleses que llegaron a Nueva Zelanda.

Resumen:
Londres 1852, dos mujeres dispares entre ellas deciden dejar todo para embarcarse en el Dublin. Su destino es Nueva Zelanda y su propósito casarse con dos desconocidos para ellas.

Helen reparte su tiempo entre su trabajo como institutriz y el cuidado de sus hermanos. Viendo cómo la vida se le escapa de las manos sin haber logrado formar una familia, responde a una carta en la cual un barón de la lana neozelandés deseaba contraer matrimonio con una joven inglesa.

A Gwyneira se la jugó, literalmente, su padre en una partida de cartas. Es el motivo por el cual ella se casará con el hijo de un acaudalado barón de la lana. Gwyn, de mente inquieta y espíritu rebelde, se lo toma con buen talante, para ella supone toda una aventura.

A partir de aquí sus vidas cambiarán para siempre...

Según tengo entendido, este libro, en su edición en papel, es un tochazo de cerca de 800 páginas. Yo lo he leído en formato electrónico.

Me ha llevado varios meses terminarlo, porque dedico más tiempo a la lectura cuando trabajo de noche (y es que 10 horas dan para mucho, mientras mis pacientes duermen).

He de reconocer que, hacia la mitad del libro, la lectura se me hizo un poco pesada, pero cuando se empieza a perfilar el final no podía dejar de leer. Resultó adictivo.

Si os documentáis por ahí, este libro ha recibido críticas tanto positivas como negativas.
Personalmente, me ha gustado mucho, y espero continuar con la trilogía pronto (aunque no inmediatamente, porque me gusta alternar con otro tipo de lecturas).

Bueno, hasta aquí esta primera reseña bibliográfica, que espero que no sea la última.

Let's see if after breaking the proverbial ice, I'm inspired to share with you my thoughts about the books I read.

'In the Land of the Long White Cloud' is the first part of a trilogy based on the experiences of the first British settlers travelling to New Zealand.


Excerpt:
London, 1852. Two very different women leave everything behind to embark on a long journey on board the Dublin. The ship is headed to New Zealand and their purpose is to marry two men they do not even know.

Helen spends her time working as a governess and caring for her siblings. Watching life pass her by without having created a family of her own, she replies to a letter from a gentleman wool farmer in New Zealand, who wishes to marry a young Englishwoman.

Gwyneira's fate was literally decided on a blackjack table. That's the reason why she'll marry the son of a wealthy wool baron. Gwyn, whose wit and rebel spirit are screaming for adventure, takes it all in stride.

From that point, their lives will be forever changed...

I believe this book, in its printed format is over 800 long. I have read this as an e-book.

It's taken me a couple of months to finish, because I can usually spend more time reading when I'm working my night shifts - believe me, 10 hours is a long time, while my patients sleep in the meantime.

I have to confess that as I was approaching the middle of the book, reading it became a little too boring but once you start to mentally sketch out the end, I couldn't stop reading. It was really addictive.

If you search online for feedback for this novel, you'll notice it has both positive and negative opinions.
As for myself, I liked it very much and hope to continue reading this saga soon -though not immediately, because I like to read different books in between.

Well, that was all for my first book review. I hope it's not the last and that it wasn't too boring for you.

Productos terminados - 'Finito' products (#21).

Hola, chicas:
Aquí vengo con una nueva reseña de los productos que he terminado últimamente.
Han sido tantos que son suficientes como para llenar una entrada. Además, como podréis ver, esta no es una entrada conjunta, como solemos hacer en estos casos.

Pues bien, sin más dilación, paso a detallaros los productos.

1- Crema blanqueante Sulwhasoo.
Forma parte del kit de minitallas que me regaló Marox, y que os enseñé *aquí*.
Es bastante untuosa, así que la he estado utilizando como crema de noche, como paso final de la rutina.
Al igual que el resto de productos de la línea, tiene un olor herbal muy agradable.
Aunque me ha gustado, en principio no repetiré con ella.

2- Exfoliante corporal de mora "Flor de Mayo".
Este también me lo compró Marox no me acuerdo dónde, creo que en un hipermercado.
Tiene un gránulo bastante fino, por lo que no da tanta sensación de exfoliación como otros de grano más grueso.
No repetiré con él, puesto que he probado otros que me han gustado más, y que me dejan la piel más hidratada.

3- Mascarilla capilar "Oro líquido" de Deliplus.
Me encanta, me encanta y me encanta.
¿Por qué? Por su olor y por la sensación de suavidad que deja en el pelo.
De momento, voy a seguir utilizando otra mascarilla capilar que tenía un poco abandonada, pero no descarto repetir con ésta, porque me ha gustado muchísimo.
En su día, formaba parte de un kit de productos, pero ahora se pueden adquirir por separado, así que fenomenal.



4- Aceite desmaquillante "Gold Progress" de Deliplus.
Este es otro producto que también me ha encantado, porque hace que retirar el maquillaje sea muy fácil, y me parece que es muy respetuoso con la piel.
Tampoco descarto repetir con él, aunque por el momento tengo pensado usar otros productos.

5- Mousse fijador para cabello rizado de Stylius (de venta en Mercadona).
Hace tiempo que dejé de usar espuma fijadora para el pelo, porque me dejaban el pelo pegajoso y no me gustaba nada esa sensación.
Esta mousse es mucho más suave y no me deja esa sensación. Deja el pelo suave y brillante, y el rizo definido sin acartonarlo.
Me ha encantado, y repetiré con él (ya tengo otro de repuesto), aunque no de momento, pues he empezado a utilizar otro producto que compró Marox para ella y me dio un poco para probar, y que también me está gustando mucho. Ya os hablaré de él.



6- Colonia nº15 de "La botica de los perfumes".
Huele como J'adore, de Dior. Desde que se la regalamos a nuestra madre para el día de la madre, me he enamorado de este perfume, y busqué clones entre marcas más baratitas.
Repetiré con ella seguro. De hecho, tengo pensado llevar el bote (que es de cristal) para que me lo rellenen.

Bueno, pues esto ha sido todo por el momento, en nuestra última entrada de este año.

Here I am with another 'Finito' products post. I've used up so much stuff lately that it was enough for a full post. Furthermore, as you can see, this is not even a joint post, as we usually do with these entries.

Well, enough babbling and time to talk briefly about the products.

1 - Whitening cream from Sulwhasoo. It was part of the trial-size kit that I got from Marox and that I showed you *here*. It has quite a thick texture, so I've been using it as a night cream, as the final step of my routine.
As the rest of the products of this range, it has a nice herbal scent.
Though I like it, I won't be repeating with it for the time being.

2- 'Flor de Mayo' body scrub.
This one was also a gift from Marox, and I can't remember where she bought it, aside the fact that it was from a large supermarket.
It has very tiny particles, that's why it doesn't leave your skin with a feeling of a real exfoliation as would happen with other ones with bigger particles.
I won't be repurchasing it, as I've tried others  I like more, which also leave my skin more hydrated.



3- 'Oro líquido' (Liquid gold) hair mask from Deliplus.
I love it, I love it and I love it.
Why? Because of its scent and that soft feeling it leaves on my hair.
Now I'll keep on using another one that I had left aside, but I don't rule out repeating with this one, because I liked it very much.
When it was first sold, it was part of a set with other products, but now all of them can be purchased separately, which is great.

4- 'Gold progress' make-up remover oil from Deliplus.
This is another product I love, because it makes my make-up removal routine much easier, and I think it's skin-friendly.
I wouldn't mind buying it again, although I now intend to use other stuff.



5- Styling mousse for curly hair from Stylius (sold at Mercadona supermarkets).
It's been quite a long time since I used traditional styling products for the last time, because they left my hair sticky and I don't like that feeling at all.
This mousse is softer and doesn't leave that feeling on my hair, but it leaves it soft and shiny, and defines my curls without giving them that cardboard-like, stiff texture.
I liked it very much, and I'll be repeating with it (I have another one for backup), but not now, as I've started using another product that Marox bought for herself and gave me enough amount to try it out, and the truth is that I like it a lot. I'll tell you about it in the future.

6- No. 15 parfum from 'La botica de los perfumes'.
It has the same scent as J'adore, from Dior.
Ever since we gave the original one to my mother on Mother's Day, I fell in love with the scent, so I began to look for a dupe among some more affordable brands. I'll surely be repeating with it. In fact, I'm thinking of carrying the bottle (made of glass) to be refilled.

UDLS / NOTW: Astor 'Pearly Diadem'

¡Hola chicas!

Aquí vengo una vez más a enseñaros el esmalte que he lucido recientemente.
Fue una compra totalmente impulsiva, ya que me gustó tanto el esmalte de Rimmel que compró Marian en Bodybell y que os enseñó *aquí* que cuando ví en Mercadona uno muy parecido y más barato, no pude resistirme a meterlo en la cesta de la compra.

En las fotos llevo una capa de mi base de Basic (Schlecker), que está en las últimas pero que sigo aprovechando porque no ha espesado. Una vez seca, dí dos capas de este esmalte - una primera generosa y la segunda muy finita -. Unos minutos después apliqué una capa del esmalte de acabado de la línea 'Better than Gel Nails' de Essence, que poco a poco, va menguando.

Me ha sorprendido para bien la duración de este esmalte, que lucí cinco días seguidos. Soportó bien un lavado de pelo y decidí quitarlo tras una mañana de limpieza, aunque alguno de los desconchones de la mano derecha no eran muy evidentes.

Espero que os haya gustado este esmalte. Pronto os traeremos una comparativa con su "gemelo" de Rimmel.

Hi ladies!

I'm back one more time ready to show you one the polishes I've worn recently.
This was a rather on-the-spot purchase. I actually liked so much the Rimmel lacquer Marian had bought at Bodybell-featured in *this* post- that when I saw a cheaper dupe while shopping for groceries at my nearest Mercadona supermarket, I just couldn't help it and put it in my shopping basket.

In the pictures I'm wearing a coat of my Basic (from Schlecker) basecoat, which I'll use up very soon but is still serviceable. It has not thickened and once it had dried, I applied two coats of this polish  - a more generous first coat followed by a rather thin one -. A few minutes later, I added a coat of the Essence 'Better than Gel Nails' top sealer, which I'm steadily using up.


I was pleasantly surprised by the wear of this polish, as I had this mani on for 5 days straight. It withstood my having washed my hair fairly well and I only decided to take it off after a morning of cleaning, and some of the chips in my right hand were not noticeable anyway.

Productos terminados - Finito products (#20).

Aquí venimos con un nuevo repaso de los productos que hemos terminado últimamente.

1- Champú con biotina de Avalon Organics.
Lo compró Marox a iHerb en nuestro único pedido a la tienda hasta la fecha.
Después de jugarnos nuestra melena con el champú para caballos, probamos éste para personas.
Es totalmente transparente y no huele a nada.
Deja el pelo "chirriantemente" limpio.
En cuanto a su efecto fortalecedor del cabello, Marian no ha notado nada en especial, pues su cabello ya es muy fuerte.



2- Champú sólido "Gran Suave" de Bubbly (Marian).
Os lo enseñamos bastante a menudo en nuestras entradas de "Compras varias acumuladas", porque nos gusta tanto que siempre tenemos uno de repuesto.
No podría precisar cuánto ha durado. A ver si me acuerdo de controlar el tiempo cuando acabe el que estoy usando ahora.
Nos encanta porque deja el pelo suave y brillante.

3- Toallita desmaquillante de Sephora (Marian).
Ya no recuerdo cuándo empecé a usarla, pero lo cierto es que han sido bastantes meses.
Retira muy bien el maquillaje. Aunque la he lavado con frecuencia, no he podido evitar que haya adquirido el color del maquillaje (era blanca). Además, le han salido unos puntitos negros. Sospecho que se trata de moho, así que ha llegado el momento de tirarla.
No he podido encontrar otra igual en Sephora, porque por lo visto no las tienen siempre, pero me dijo que había visto una parecida en eBay. Ya os la enseñaré cuando la reciba.

4 - Esmalte base Basic (Schlecker): Compramos esta base para las uñas hace ya tiempo, junto con otras. Queda muy poca cantidad y cuesta cogerla con el pincel, así que la doy por terminada. (marox). No recuerdo lo que costó, pero es una marca muy baratita y serían menos de 3€ fijo.

5- Desmaquillante bifásico de ojos de Yves Rocher (marox): Tenía un bote de este aquí en Zamora, porque ya sabéis que desde hace algún tiempo, hacemos nuestro propio desmaquillante *aquí*. La verdad es que éste funciona muy bien y suele haber ofertas de 2x1 y similares.

Esto es todo por el momento.

Here we are with a new quick review of the stuff we've used up lately.

1- Biotin enriched shampoo from Avalon Organics. Marox got this from iHerb in our first and only order to date.
After daring to use one of the famous horse shampoos on our hair, we gave this one meant for humans a try.
It is clear and has no scent to speak of. Leaves a 'squeaky clean' feeling to hair. As far as its strengthening properties, Marian didn't notice anything special as her hair is strong enough on its own.


2 - 'Big Softy' shampoo bar from Bubbly/Bodyline (Marian): We often share this with you in our 'Sundry hauls', because we like it so much we like to keep backups.
I couldn't really say how long this lasted. I should try and make an effort to write that down when I use up the one I currently have. We like it because hair is clean and shiny.



3 - Washable makeup remover wipe by Sephora (Marian). I don't really recall when I started using this, but it's been quite a few months. It is a great tool when removing your makeup. Although I've been careful and have washed this thoroughly on a regular basis, I couldn't help but stain it (it used to be white). Furthermore, it got several dark spots, which I suspect to be mould, so it's time to throw it away.
I couldn't find a backup at Sephora, because apparently they don't always keep them in stock, but marox told me she'd found a similar one on Ebay. I'll show that to you once I get it.

4 - Basic (Schlecker discount drugstores) nail polish base coat: We bought this a few years ago with others. There is little product left and is difficult to get it with the brush, so I'd better call this finished (marox). Don't recall the price, but the brand is really cheap and was surely less than €3.

5 - Yves Rocher eye makeup remover (two phase formula - marox): We still had a bottle of this at my parent's in Zamora, but you know we've been making our own remover for some time now. *here*. This one is really good as well and the store usually has BOGO offers or some sort of promotion. 

This is all by now.
