Mis regalos y autorregalos de Navidad - My Xmas Gifts and Gifts-to-self (2021)

Hola, chicas: En esta entrada os enseño los que han sido mis regalos y autorregalos de las pasadas Navidades.   1 - Por parte de mis padres, recibí este reloj, puesto que el mío llevaba tiempo haciendo cosas raras. Es de la marca *Mondaine*, que fabrica los relojes de las estaciones de tren de Suiza. Marian tiene uno de la misma marca que tendrá como 15 años y le ha salido muy bien, así que espero que a mí me dé buen resultado también.  Aunque los he visto por Internet, hemos preferido comprarlo en nuestra relojería de confianza. Hay que apoyar un poco también al comercio local, que llevan un par de años muy complicados con la pandemia, subidas de impuestos y suministros...       2 - Cepillo de limpieza facial de silicona: Es uno de esos dispositivos tipo Foreo. Lo compramos en una tienda local, una franquicia, Wolala. Estos productos nos producían cierta curiosidad, pero no tanta como para pagar por un Foreo, sinceramente. El mío lo he usado con productos limpiadores y también con cremas faciales. Me gusta porque es pequeño. Viene con una bolsita de tela y el cable cargador, en un estuche de plástico rígido que de momento, estoy conservando.   Marian me ha regalado varias cositas también, algunas tiempo antes de Navidad.    1-  Portarretratos con motivos de gatos: Lo compró en Wallapop y como véis, he puesto una foto de Pol. No me permiten tener mascotas en el piso donde estoy viviendo este año por trabajo, así que al menos, recuerdo las siestas que se echa en mi regazo cuando estoy con él.   2 - Libro de literatura inglesa: También lo adquirió en Wallapop. No lo he empezado aún. Me temo que tengo la lectura bastante abandonada.  3 - Películas en DVD: Las compró en Wallapop. Emma la he visto varias veces -me gusta Jane Austen- pero hace un montón de tiempo. La tenía grabada en VHS de la tele... para que os hagáis una idea y me apetecía tenerla para verla cuando quiera. Está en Bluray, pero el transfer es bastante malo y no tiene subtítulos en inglés, así que quería esta edición en concreto. Lo mismo con 'Las normas de la casa de la sidra', mal transfer en Bluray, sin extras ni subtítulos en V.O, así que prefiero el DVD. De momento, he visto 'Emma' y la verdad es que para ser DVD, se ve muy bien. 4 - Cds de música: 'Adrenalize' de Def Leppard y 'Get a Grip' de Aerosmith. Porque no sólo me gusta Roxette, jeje.  También de Wallapop. Los tenía en mi colección, pero no sé cómo se extraviaron hace años, así que me los regaló.  Y ahora le toca al turno a los autorregalos, que ya sabéis que no me privo. 1 - Vinilos de Roxette y Per Gessle: El primero es la edición limitada de efecto mármol de la reedición de su disco más vendido, 'Joyride', editado originalmente en 1991. El segundo es una reedición, por el décimo aniversario -creo- de la publicación de su cuarto disco en solitario -de los mejores que ha sacado-, publicado en 2003, con material que tenía escrito para lo que habría sido el siguiente disco de Roxette, proyecto que quedó detenido por la enfermedad de Marie el año anterior. Tuve muchos problemas con el pedido. Para empezar, quise comprarlos en otra tienda, pero han cambiado las condiciones de envío al extranjero y al menos de momento, no envían a España.  La tienda a la que finalmente hice el pedido, *Bengans*, ha tardado una barbaridad en enviarlo. Hice el pedido a principios de diciembre y me llegó el día 20. No he podido escuchar aún más que el primero, porque nos íbamos de vacaciones unos días. Posteriormente me he cogido la edición de 3cds del Joyride. Decidí esperar un tiempo puesto que las primeras han venido mal, con 2 cds repetidos o que no se oyen... madre mía.   2 -Singles de Roxette: Los compré por *Discogs*, los de 7" a un vendedor de Suecia y el de 12" a un vendedor de Francia, que es donde se editó con el remix Dancehall version, que es una pasada.   Tuve un pequeño problema con este último: el embalaje llegó rajado de lado a lado, hasta el punto que la portada quedó marcada. El vendedor accedió a devolverme los gastos de envío como compensación.      Eso ha sido todo, espero que os haya gustado. ¿Se han portado bien Papá Noel y los Reyes? Seguro que sí. Y si no, pues que no nos falte la salud, que es lo más importante.

Hi girls, In this post I'm showing you my Christmas gifts and gifts-to-self in 2021.   1 - Mondaine wristwatch, from my parents. Mine had been acting up for some time. *Mondaine* is the manufacturer of clocks on train stations in Switzerland. Marian has had one of these for about 15 years and it is still going strong, so I hope mine turns out to be as good.  Although these are also sold online, we bought this from a local trusted jewellery. Small businesses need our help, especially considering how tough these couple of years have been for them because of the pandemic, rise in taxes as well as energy bills, etc.   2 - Silicone facial cleaning brush: We bought this at a local shop, *Wolala*.  These brushes had caught our eye, but not to the point of being eager to pay for the original, Foreo. I've used mine with cleansing products as well as creams. I like the fact that it is compact. It comes with a travel pouch and the charging cable in a hard plastic case that I'm keeping for the time being.   Marian gave me a few things as well, some well before Christmas.   1- Cat-themed photo frame: She bought this from the second-hand app Wallapop. As you see, I've put a picture of Pol. I'm not allowed to have pets in the flat I'm living in for work this year, so at least I can remember the naps he takes on my lap when I'm with him.     2 - English literature book: Also from Wallapop. I haven't started it yet. I'm afraid it's been a while since I last opened a book for reading. 3- DVD films: She bought them on Wallapop as well. I've seen this version of Emma lots of times, but ages ago. I used to have this on VHS, recorded from TV. Go figure. I wanted to own this, so I could watch it any time I want to. It's available on Bluray, but the transfer is terrible and has no English subtitles, so it had to be this edition in particular. Same thing with 'The Cider House Rules': poor transfer on the Spanish BD, no extras or English subtitles, so I'd rather get the DVD. So far, we've watcched 'Emma' and the picture quality is great for a DVD. 4 - Music CDs: Def Leppard's 'Adrenalize' and Aerosmith's 'Get a Grip'. Because I like other bands apart from Roxette, lol. Also purchased second-hand off Wallapop. I used to own these but have somehow lost them, so she got them for me. And now it's time for my gifts-to-self. You know that I like to treat myself.     1 - Per Gessle and Roxette vinyls: The first one is the limited edition of the 30th anniversary of their best selling album, Joyride, that comes in a marbled effect. The record originally came out in 1991. The second is the re-release on vinyl, of Per's fourth solo album on its 10th anniversary, I believe. It's one of his best albums, originally released in 2003. The songs he wrote for this album had been intended for Roxette's next work, a project that had to be postponed due to Marie's cancer diagnosis the year before. I've had lots of issues with this order. To start with, I had planned on placing my order at a different store. However, they'd changed to shipping conditions and at least for now, they're not shipping to Spain. The store I finally ordered these from, *Bengans*, has taken a really long time to ship. I placed my order early in December and got it on the 20th. I didn't even have time to listen to them then, since we were going away on holiday for a few days. I was able to listen to Joyride after the holidays. I eventually ordered the 3CD edition from Joyride, though I decided to wait until they fixed some issues: some people have got 2 identical cds or blank ones... Oh, Lord.       2 - Roxette singles: I ordered them from *Discogs.* The smaller, 7" ones from a seller in Sweden and the 12" one from one in France, which is where the Dancehall version featured in this was exclusively released. It's an awesome remix.  There was a problem with this item though. The packaging was slashed from side to side, to the point that the cover got marked. The seller agreed to refund me the shipping costs as compensation. Well, that was everything for now. I hope you liked what I got. Were Santa and the Three Wise Men good to you? I bet they were and if not, I hope they brought you health for this new year, which is what really matters after all.

Mis regalos y autoregalos de cumpleaños / My Birthday presents and gifts-to-self 2021

Madre mía cómo pasa el tiempo. Otro año más que he cumplido y otro año más que os comparto los regalos que he recibido o me he hecho a mí misma.    Comienzo con los regalos que recibí, con bastante antelación de Marian. Como no se le ocurría bien qué regalarme, le mandé un par de ideas para que fuera sobre seguro y eso hizo.   1 - CD + DVD 'Gessle over Europe': Me faltaba en la colección, a pesar de que se editó hace ya 10 años. Lo típico, se editan varias cosas a la vez y quiere una dosificar un poco, pero luego va siendo más y más difícil -y caro- hacerse con determinados discos. Lo compró por Wallapop.   2 - CD 'En Händig Man', también de Per Gessle: Otro disco con el que me pasó lo mismo. Le tenía echado el ojo a la edición doble y Marian me ha regalado la sencilla, pero bueno, bienvenido es en mi colección igualmente. Lo compró en *Discogs*.   Mis padres me han dado dinero -han sido extra generosos- para que me comprara un par de cosas que me hacían falta.   3 - Auriculares de diadema con micrófono, MPOW: Los cogí en Aliexpress, con envío desde España. Los que tengo me los prestó Marian y aunque aún funcionan están muy feos a la vista, así que los usaré para algún apuro. Lo bueno que tienen es que se pueden poner con el micro tanto hacia el lado derecho como al izquierdo. Se pueden conectar a la toma de auriculares de por ejemplo un móvil o al USB del ordenador.   Os recuerdo que las compras en Aliexpress on devuelven dinero, con páginas como *Shoppiday*.     4 - Minicadena Auna 388 DAB: La pedí a la web de la marca, que la tenía más barata que Amazon y que por suscribirte a su boletín, te daba 5€ de descuento. La mía lleva un tiempo haciendo cosas raras y por mucho que pase el CD de limpieza no acaba de ir bien y no sabía ya qué hacer. Recuerdo que la compré en una tienda local de unos conocidos y me dejaron pagarla a plazos con mi paga semanal... para que os hagáis una idea de los años que tenía ya el equipo... y de los que voy teniendo yo.  Realmente no me hacía falta doble pletina de casettes. Ni sé los años que hace que no pongo una cinta, pero dentro de los modelos más completos era la que mejores opiniones tenía. A diferencia de la anterior, tiene para reproducir vinilos y aunque la mayoría no los tengo en esta casa, así podré reproducir los pocos que tengo aquí o lo que pueda comprar en el futuro.  Lo único malo es que no me cabe en la estantería donde tenía la otra.  5 - Bluray 'A streetcat named Bob': La vi por Internet durante el confinamiento tras leerme el libro -hábito que por cierto tengo de lo más descuidado- y últimamente me ha dado por renovar la videoteca con aquellas pelis que me gustan. Aunque veo muchas gracias a la suscripción de Prime, a veces sólo están disponibles unos meses. En España sólo está editada en DVD, pero la edición inglesa en BluRay trae castellano tanto en audio como en subtítulos, por si os interesa.  Como véis, parece que Pol tiene ganas de verla.  La pillé en Amazon.co.uk, que la tenía mejor de precio que la tienda española. Eso sí, ha tardado en llegar, como todo lo que envía Royal Mail.  6 - DVD 'Sabrina y sus amores': Otra película que nos gusta mucho en casa y que me apetecía tener, para verla siempre que queramos y no depender de si la ponen por la tele o está en alguna plataforma. Es el remake de 1995 de la película clásica con Audrey Hepburn. La compré de segunda mano en la web de *CEX*, en lo que ha sido mi primera experiencia en esta tienda -y puede que no la última -. El disco está en perfecto estado y me gustó que la hayan mandado de la tienda más cercana a mi ciudad. Me costó 3€ (más otros 2 de envío).      7 - Pedido a *Ginza.se*: Aparte de un par de Cds para mi madre por el día de la madre, me pedí 3 cositas para mí, para aprovechar bien los gastos de envío y el hecho de que no son baratos... Dios, ¡cuánto echo de menos CdON y sus gastos de envío a 5€, metieras lo que metieras-. De izquierda a derecha: un DVD de Per Gessle en solitario en concierto, un Bluray de su otra banda, Gyllene Tider en su gira de despedida y un concierto acústico sin público que dio hace unos meses en CD.  Ha sido el primer pedido que he hecho en esta tienda (era donde mejor estaban de precio las cosas o estaban disponibles), ya que casi siempre pido a Bengans, pero a partir de ahora, viendo que funciona bien también, pediré a la que mejor me salga o tenga lo que busco, como esta vez. No sólo tienen cosas de música, también venden electrónica, cosas para la casa, deporte, películas, etc.    Creo que no me he olvidado de nada.  ¿Os han gustado lo que he recibido?

Lord, time does fly. Another birthday for me and another year with me sharing with you the presents I got for said occasion or that I treated myself to.    I'll start with what I got -quite early- from Marian. As she didn't know what to get me, I texted her some inspo so she could play it safe and that's what she did.   1 - CD + DVD 'Gessle over Europe: It was missing in my collection, despite the fact it was released about 10 years ago. You see, there are times when multiple stuff is released at the same time and you stupidly decide to restrain yourself... only to discover the album is increasingly harder -and more expensive- to get. She bought it from Wallapop Spain.   2 - 'En Händig Man' CD, also by Per Gessle: Another album I didn't get when it was released. I had my eye on the double edition, but she got me the standard one. It is more than welcome in my collection all the same. She got it from *Discogs*. My parents gave me money -they were extra generous - to buy a couple of things I needed. 3 - Headphones with microphone, from the brand MPOW. I bought them on Aliexpress and they shipped from Spain. The ones I was using are in fact Marian's and although they still work they're all tatty, so I'll only use them in an emergency. The good thing about the new ones is that you can wear them with the microphone to your left or right. They hook up to either a headphone jack, say, on your phone or a USB port on your computer. Remember you can get some money back from your Aliexpress purchases, as long as you use a cashback site such as *TopCashBack* to access the shop. 4 -  Auna 388 DAB Hi-fi System: I ordered this directly from the brand's website, as it was cheaper than Amazon and they gave you  €5 off if you subscribed to their newsletter. The old one has been acting funny for a while, no matter how many times you run the cleaning CD and I was running out of ideas on how to make it work properly again. I remember I bought this from a local shop some friends of my parents' had... who let me pay for it in instalments with my weekly allowance. That dates me and the equipment, LOL.   I didn't really need a double cassette player at all, since I don't even recall the last time I used a tape, but from the models I'd seen this had the best reviews. Unlike the previous one, this also plays records and even if I don't have that many here, at least now I'll be able to play the ones I keep here or others I may get in the future. The only downside is that it didn't fit the space on a shelf the old one was on.     5 - 'A Streetcat named Bob' Bluray: I saw this online after reading the novel when we first went into lockdown, which reminds me I should catch up on my reading. I've been buying physical media of late, as I'm trying to update my collection with films I like to watch every now and then. I do see a lot thanks to my Prime subscription, but some titles may only be available for a few months and then they're gone. It's only available on DVD in Spain, but the UK Bluray release comes with Spanish both dubbed and subtitles. As you can see in the picture, it looks like Pol can't wait to watch it.   I ordered this from Amazon.co.uk, since it was cheaper than at AmazonSpain. That being said, it took a while to get to me, as with anything that is shipped with Royal Mail.      6 - 'Sabrina': Another movie we love at home and I really wanted to own. That way we can watch it anytime we're in the mood and don't need to rely on it being broadcast on TV or available on a streaming service. It's the 1995 remake of the classic film starring Audrey Hepburn.  I got this second hand from *CEX* online in my first experience ordering from them -and maybe not the last. The disc was in mint condition and I appreciated the fact it was shipped from my nearest CEX. It was €3 (plus another €2 for shipping). 7 - *Ginza.se* Haul: Besides a couple of CDs for my mum for Mother's Day, I got 3 goodies for myself. That way I could make the most of the shipping cost, since they're not exactly cheap. God, how I miss CdOn and their flat-rate €5 shipping! From left to right: Per Gessle solo live DVD, a live Bluray with his other band, Gyllene Tider on their farewell tour and an acoustic solo CD from a concert he gave a couple of months ago without an audience, respecting social distancing.  It's been my first Ginza order, as it was the shop that had the best deals for some of the items or where some stuff was available. Most times I order from Bengans. Since this first order turned out fine, from now on I will buy my stuff from whichever store happens to have the best deals or stock what I'm looking for. They not only sell music, they do electronics, homeware, sports stuff, films, you name it. I think that was all. How do you like my goodies?

Mis regalos y autoregalos de Navidad - My Christmas gifts and gifts-to-self (2020)

¿Qué tal lleváis este temporal de frío? Espero que Filomena no haya causado demasiado trastorno en vuestras ciudades. Aquí ha nevado lo suyo, cosa que no suele suceder muy a menudo y también llevamos varios días con mucha cencellada. En este año tan raro y malo para muchos que hemos dejado atrás hace poco, hemos pasado - y pasaremos - más tiempo en casa que nunca, disfrutando de la compañía de la familia y dedicándolo al entretenimiento más de lo habitual.   Comienzo con los regalos que recibí de mi hermana:   1 - Trilogía de Millennium (películas basadas en la trilogía de Stieg Larsson) en Bluray: Aunque teníamos reproductor de BluRay en Burgos, lo cierto es que no teníamos ninguna película en este formato y ahora que lo pienso, casi ni en DVD.  Descubrí *Wallapop* recientemente y me autoregalé un reproductor para mi habitación de Zamora y claro, había que probarlo en condiciones.   Creo que Marian las compró por Ebay, todas al mismo vendedor que me las envió directamente a mí. Venían perfectamente precintadas, aunque en la imagen hay una ya sin el precinto.       Mis padres me dieron dinero -han sido súper generosos este año- y me he dado unos cuantos caprichos (y conociéndome, quizá caiga alguna cosa más). En mi defensa, debo decir que también vendí un artículo en Wallapop bastante bien y que tenía saldo de Paypal del cashback de mis compras online.    Sin más dilación, unas cositas de música:   2 - CD 'Gammal kärlek rostar aldrig' de Per Gessle, y libro sobre la mayoría de letras que ha escrito, en su edición en inglés, adquirido en *Bengans*.  Como véis, el libro es bien gordote. El Cd -su 13º disco en solitario- incluye temas nuevos creados para este disco, pero otros son bastante antiguos a los que le ha dado otro toque.  Por cierto, que ya ha anunciado nuevo disco con un concierto acústico que dió hace poco, televisado, cumpliendo las distancias impuestas por el coronavirus. Está visto que este buen hombre está empeñado en hacer que afloje la cartera. 3 - CD 'Bag of Trix' de Roxette: Lo compré en Amazon, que lo puso a muy buen precio en preventa, aunque desde el día 11 de diciembre que salió a la venta no lo recibí hasta el 22. En parte porque sospecho que han atendido antes los pedidos de Alemania, etc, que los de España. Ejem. La versión en CD son 3 cds, mientras que la edición en vinilo trae 4, pero era una pasada de cara.  Se nota que los vinilos se han puesto de moda y las discográficas se están forrando y se aprovechan.      4 - Película 'Intocable' en BluRay: Nos gustó mucho en su día y así la podemos ver de vez en cuando si nos apetece. La compré por Wallapop, aprovechando que un día pusieron los gastos de envío al 50%. Me salió por unos 8 euros, ya con el envío.  5 - 'Pretty Woman' en BluRay: Solemos verla cuando la ponen por la tele, así que mejor tenerla 'en propiedad' para verla sin anuncios y a la hora que queramos. La compré por Ebay genial de precio, por 4,50€, con envío gratis al vendedor *pop.fiction*.  6 - Trilogía de Bridget Jones en Bluray: Me salió tirada de precio en Amazon, 10.49€. Antes de comprarla, hice una comprobación en camelcamelcamel y nunca había estado más barata.       7 - Edición de coleccionistas de 'Dirty Dancing' en Bluray: Al igual que la anterior, comprobé el histórico de precio y era el más bajo, así que por 15€ se vino conmigo. Tengo algunos paquetes 'en tránsito'. A decir verdad, algunas de mis últimas compras están gafadas: un paquete de Amazon España que fue entregado en un 'lugar seguro' y han sido incapaces de decirme dónde lo han dejado; otro de Amazon del Reino Unido que viene de Australia que han tenido que reenviar porque aún no había sido escaneado pasadas 3 semanas... y otro de Amazon España para mi madre que aparte del retraso por el temporal, lo han mandado por error a otro transportista... a Barcelona.  Lo sé, problemas del primer mundo. How are you coping with *Storm Filomena*? I hope this cold snap hasn't caused much disruption where you live. Here, it has snowed for a few days -a rare occurence- and we've been having freezing frog pretty much non-stop for a few days. This year so weird and bad we recently left behind has made us spend a lot more time than ever at home and in the company of our loved ones. We've also devoted more of our free time to different entertainment options.   I'll start with the presents I got from my sister:   1 - Millennium trilogy (films based on the Stieg Larsson novels) on BluRay: The truth is we do have a BluRay player in Burgos, but we had no films in this format -nor much in DVD either, for that matter. I recently discovered *Wallapop*, a popular second-hand website in Spain, and treated myself to a player for my bedroom in Zamora. And I had to test that properly, you see.   I believe Marian got these off Ebay from the same seller, who shipped them directly to me. They were sealed, though in the picture one of them does no longer have said seal.   My parents gave me some money -they were really generous this year- and thus I've treated myself to some stuff I had my eye on -and knowing myself, more may come. In my defense, I must say I also sold an item on Wallapop for a great price plus I had some Paypal balance from the cashback I get from online purchases.       2 - 'Gammal kärlek rostar aldrig' (= Old love never rusts / dies) CD album by Per Gessle and English edition of the book about most of the lyrics he's written in English, which I ordered from *Bengans*. As you see, the book is quite heavy. The CD -his 13th solo album- includes both songs written and recorded for this album, as well as much older ones given new arrangements. By the way, he recently announced a new release, an unplugged concert that was broadcast live, respecting social distancing imposed by Covid19. It seems this guy is intent on me spending my hard-earned money.  3 - 'Bag of Trix' Cd from Roxette: I got this from Amazon, which had it at a great price while it was still on pre-order. Mind you, it's taken a long time for them to ship. It was released on December 11th, but I didn't get my copy until December 22nd. In part because I suspect they've given priority to orders from Germany and other countries before Spain. Erm.  The CD release comes with 3 discs, whereas the vinyl one has 4, but it was outrageously expensive, imo. It's evident that vinyls are back on trend and record companies are making the most of it and trick you out of your money accordingly.     4 - 'Untouchable' BluRay: We really enjoyed this French film when we first saw it, so why not enjoy it whenever we feel like it. I got this second-hand from Wallapop, on a day when they had 50% off shipping, for about €8 total.  5 - 'Pretty Woman' BluRay: We usually watch this whenever it is on TV, so we'd better have this 'in ownership'. I got this off Ebay really affordable, for only €4.50 including shipping from a Spanish seller.     6 - Bridget Jones Trilogy on Bluray: It was a steal at Amazon.es, only €10.49. Before ordering, I ran a search on camelcamelcamel and it had never been cheaper.  7-  'Dirty Dancing' Collector's Edition on Bluray: Just like with the previous item, I did a quick price tracking and it was at its lowest, so for just €15 I didn't even think about it. I do have some some pending packages that are 'in transit'. Truth be told, some of my latest orders seem to be jinxed: one from Amazon Spain that was delivered to a 'safe location' they were unable to determine; another one from Amazon UK that comes all the way from Australia that has had to be resent because it hadn't been scanned in the course of 3 weeks... and then another from Amazon Spain for my mum that is delayed to the storm and has been sent to another freight carrier by mistake... to Barcelona.  I know... first-world problems. Mis regalos y autorregalos de cumpleaños / My birthday gifts and gifts to self 2020

Hola, chicas:

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros los regalos de mi cumpleaños, inusual como pocos por culpa de la cuarentena y del "bicho".
Empiezo con los regalos de mi hermana. Mis padres me dieron -suficiente para el regalo estrella-.
Dadas las circunstancias actuales, creo que me he portado muy bien. 

1 - Pendientes de macramé, hechos por Marian: Ya sabéis lo mañosa que es mi hermana. Los he usado ya un par de veces.

2- Marcapáginas de encaje de bolillos, hecho también por Marian. Me da un poco de miedo que lo pesque Luna, mi gata, porque con el trabajo que le habrá llevado lo puede destrozar en un segundo.


3 - Colgante 'Arbol de la vida': Fue regalo de mis padres, de una tienda local que por desgracia cerraba. La cadena no es la que traía (era más finita), porque se me enganchó y con joyerías cerradas por el confinamiento no he podido repararla aún.

4 - Teléfono Samsung M30s: Mi teléfono empezaba a acusar la falta de espacio casi todos los días y prefiero jubilarlo funcionando por si en el futuro nos hace falta temporalmente a alguien en casa.
Aunque inicialmente me decantaba más por el A40 (con una pantalla más modosa), costaba lo mismo que éste. El M30s tiene mucha más batería -6000mAh-, mejor cámara -48 megapixels, ahí es nada- y tenía mejor relación calidad precio.
Este modelo lo vende *Amazon* en exclusiva. Me costó 199,99€. Está disponible en tres colores: negro, azul y blanco, que es el que yo escogí.
Hasta que me ha llegado la funda que he comprado en Aliexpress, lo he usado sobre todo en casa y con mucho cuidado. También le he colocado un protector de cristal templado, como suelo hacer.
Me costó Dios y ayuda meterle la microSD, por cierto. La conexión Wifi falla de vez en cuando. Quizá lo solucionen con algún parche.


5 - Lote esmaltes OPI 'Fan Favorites': Lo compré en... *Primaprix*, cómo no, al módico precio de 9,95€.Trae 5 productos en tamaño mini: una base y un topcoat y tres esmaltes en tonos rojizos / rosas. Ya lo he probado, así que no tardaréis en verlos en alguna entrada.



6 - CD de Roxette 'Look Sharp' reeedición 30 aniversario. Lo compré -nuevo- en Ebay al vendedor *turncircle*. Fue su segundo disco (el primer trabajo de ellos que se conoció fuera de Suecia)

7 -CD 'Pebble to a Pearl' de Nikka Costa: También comprado en Ebay -esta vez usado- al vendedor *thecotswoldlibrary*. Se trata de la edición europea de un disco editado en 2008. ¡Cómo pasa el tiempo! Tengo ya la edición americana, que me compré al poco de editarlo, pero la tengo en nuestra otra casa... y como lo encontré a buen precio, pues me di el capricho de 'tenerlo repe'. Han tardado en llegar -lo hicieron los 2 cds el mismo día-, como es lógico en estas circunstancias.
Está perfecto, así que tendré en cuenta a este vendedor en el futuro.

Today I'd like to share with you my birthday gifts. Many of this year's birthdays will go down in history as the most unusual one we're likely to ever have since many of us spent those in lockdown because of the 'bug'.
I'll start with what I got from my sister. My parents gave me money -enough for my biggest splurge-.

1 - Macramé earrings, made by Marian: You know how crafty my sister is. I've worn them a couple of times already.

2 - Bookmark made of bobbin lace by Marian. I fear what my cat, Luna, could do to it if given the chance, especially considering how time-consuming making this piece must have been.

3 - 'Tree of Life' Pendant: It was a present from my parents. They got this from a local shop that was sadly closing down. 
The chain is not the one it came with, because it got torn and I could not have it repaired since jewellers are closed off because of the lockdown.

4 - Samsung M30s: My phone was nagging me almost every day with different 'not enough storage' pop-up messages and I'd rather get a new one while the old one still works, in case anyone at home has to ever use it as a back-up occasionally.
Although my first choice was the A40 -with a smaller, more manageable screen size - it was the same price as this. The M30s has a much bigger battery -6000 mAh-, better camera - a mind-blowing 48 megapixels - and was better value for money.
This model is an *Amazon* exclusive. It retailed at €199.99. It is available in three colours: black, blue and white, which was the one I went for.
Until I got the case I ordered from Aliexpress, I was very careful using this, mostly only at home. I have fitted it with a tempered glass screen protector, as I always do.
I had a hard time inserting the microSD card, btw.
The Wifi connection is sometimes lost. Hopefully they'll fix it with a patch or an update.

 


5- OPI 'Fan Favorites' set: I got this from... Primaprix. Hardly surprising, is it? This retailed at €9.95 and comes with 5 minis: a base, a top coat and three shades in the reddish/pinkish range. I've tried it already, so it probably won't take me long to share that with you.

6 - Roxette's 'Look Sharp' 30th anniversary re-release CD: Bought it new off Ebay, from seller *turncircle*. It was the band's second album (the first one for those of us outside Sweden).

7 -'Pebble to a Pearl' CD album by Nikka Costa: Again, got it off Ebay, from seller *thecotswoldlibrary*. This was used and it is the European edition of an album originally released back in 2008. Lord, how time flies!. I have the US release at our other home that I bought shortly after it came out, but this was very reasonably priced so I got my hands on it, even if it's something, in essence, I already have.
It took a long time to get here, understandable considering the current circumstances. Strangely enough, I received both the same day.
It is in excellent condition, so I'll definitely keep an eye on this seller in the future.

Mis regalos y autorregalos de Navidad - 2019 Christmas presents and gifts-to-self

¡Feliz día de Reyes! Como todos los años por estas fechas, aquí venimos a enseñaros nuestros regalos y autorregalos de Navidad.

Comienzo con los autorregalos, que han sido bastantes:

1 -  Pijama de Harry Potter de Women' Secret: Los había *visto* en la newsletter y aprovechando que tenían un 30% de descuento y que tenía que bajar al centro, pues un día me di el capricho. Se quedó en 23,99€.
Ya lo he estrenado. Al ser de tipo polar es muy calentito y amoroso. Aunque al principio me gustaba más otro modelo, me alegro de haberme cogido éste, al que yo creo que le sacaré más partido en los duros inviernos de Castilla.



2 - CD 'Pro*Whoa' y 'Butterfly Rocket' de Nikka Costa: El primero lo compré a través de *Discogs*, plataforma que descubrí recientemente y el segundo por Ebay. Aunque ha sacado un trabajo posterior a éste, se trata de un disco bastante más difícil de conseguir.

3 - Perfume 'Boucheron Quatre' de *Notino*: Aprovechando las ofertas de Black Friday, compré uno para mí y otros para regalar a la familia. A pesar de ser una compra a ciegas -basándome únicamente en reseñas de webs como Fragantica-, ha sido un acierto.

4 - Perfumador 'Perfumepod' de *Perfumes Club*: Nunca había pedido a esta web y la verdad es que he quedado muy satisfecha: devuelve más cashback que Notino -lo reconocieron en seguida- y el servicio fue rapidísimo. Mandan siempre muestras con los pedidos: en mi caso, dos de un maquillaje de Lancôme y otras dos de una crema de L'Occitane.
Tengo un perfumador de este tipo, de los primeros asequibles que salieron que compré en Marionnaud y ya está un poco viejito.
Aunque en el pasado compré alguno barato en Buyincoins, a la larga no van del todo bien: se les sale el tapón o pierden perfume.
Creo que éste me costó poco más de 6€.



Os recuerdo que estas tiendas os devuelven dinero, si entráis desde webs como *Beruby* o *Shoppiday*.

5 - Libro de la gira 'Per Gessle's Roxette' de edición limitada, con DVD en directo: Lo compré en Bengans *UE* / *no UE*, que junto con *Ginza*, son las únicas tiendas de discos suecas con envío internacional. Es un pena que CDON, que tenía unos gastos de envío muy económicos, cerrara su tienda europea.
Se trata de un libro con fotos y entrevistas a Per Gessle durante su última gira -que se organizó tras la cancelación de la del 30 aniversario de Roxette. Es una edición limitada a 1000 ejemplares, numerados y firmados, por lo que es un auténtico artículo de coleccionistas. Ya sólo quedaba el stock que hubiera en tiendas, así que no he querido esperar más para hacerme con él. Lo tienen por 49,90€.

6 -  DVD 'Roxette Diaries' de Jonas Åkerlund: Es un documental a partir de videos domésticos grabados por la propia banda desde 1987 a 1995, a los que Jonas Åkerlund, realizador de la mayoría de sus videoclips, les ha dado forma en este documental.
Como casi todos sus documentales, no trae subtítulos en inglés -algo incomprensible a mi entender-. Lo tenían por 9,90€.

7 - 'Listen to my heart', biografía de Marie Fredriksson: La compré en La Casa del Libro -que da cashback, no como Amazon que sólo te da las gracias por tu pedido-. Llevaba meses en mi lista de deseos.

Y éstas son las cosas que recibí de mi familia:

8- Mascarilla capilar Natura Estonica: Sabía que se me estaba acabando la que estaba usando de esta marca y compró la única que tenían en Druni.

 

9- Esmalte Bronx Colours : A pesar de haber visto esta marca en Druni varias veces, nunca había picado con nada. Contiene 12 ml y es un tono muy elegante para estas fiestas.



10- Mascarilla tissu Holika Holika de rosa: Sabe lo mucho que me he aficionado a este formato de máscaras, por lo que regalarme una era una apuesta segura.

Happy Epiphany Day! As we usually do these days, here we are again to show you our Christmas gifts and gifts-to-self.

Let me start with the stuff I treated myself to, which is, I confess, a lot:

1 - Harry Potter pyjamas from Women' Secret: I'd seen *them* featured in their newsletter and they had a 30% deal going on and since I had to go downtown for something else... I got it. They were €23.99
I've worn it already. It's fleece, so it's super warm and 'loving'. Although there was another model I liked more at first, I'm glad I got this one instead given how cold winters in Castile are.


2 - 'Pro*Whoa' and 'Butterfly Rocket' CD albums from Nikka Costa: I purchased the former from *Discogs* -a recently discovered favourite- and the latter from Ebay. Although she has released another album after the former, this is quite hard to find.

3 - 'Boucheron Quatre' EdP from *Notino*: I made the most of Black Friday deals and bought a fragrance for myself and a couple more for the family.



4 - 'PerfumePod' from *Perfumes Club*: I'd never ordered from this website, but I'm suitable impressed by the service and the fact that they're quite generous with cashback -which showed up on my account in no time-. I'll be ordering from them in the future. They always include 4 samples with orders, I got two of a Lancôme foundation and another two of a L'Occitane moisturizer.
I do have one of these travel atomizers that I purchased a really long time ago, when the first affordable ones came out which is showing its age now. In addition, I have bought some cheap ones from Buyincoins in the past that did not hold that well: the cap came loose, they leaked...etc.
At a little over €6 this is a nice addition.

Don't forget to access these shops through some rebate site such as *Beruby* or *Shoppiday*.

5 - 'Per Gessle's Roxette' tour book with pictures and interviews, limited edition with live DVD: I ordered this from Bengans *EU* / *non-EU*, which together with *Ginza* are now the only Swedish record stores that offer international shipping. It's a pity that CDON -which had really affordable shipping- decided to close down its European online shop.
It is a book with pictures and interviews done during Per's latest tour -organized after the cancelled Roxette's 30th anniversary tour-.
It is a limited edition of 1,000 units, numbered and signed, making it a true collectors' item.
I knew they were sold out, except for the stock shops may still have, so that's why I didn't want to wait to get it. Retails at €49.90.

6 -  'Roxette Diaries' DVD by Jonas Åkerlund: It is a documentary made out of private home videos shot by the band from 1987 to 1995 that Jonas Åkerlund, who directed most of the band's videoclips, has shaped into a documentary.
Like most of their documentaries, it does not include English subtitles, something that I fail to understand. Retailed at €9.90.

7 - 'Listen to my Heart', Marie Fredriksson's biography: I ordered this from LaCasaDelLibro, an online Spanish bookstore -which gives back a nice rebate with Beruby cashback, unlike Amazon which gives you nil.

8 - Natura Estonica Hair Mask: She did know I was running out of the one I was using from the brand and got the only one available at Druni.



9 - Bronx Colours nail polish: Despite having paid Druni drugstores a handful of visits, I'd never bought anything from this brand they sell exclusively. This contains 12 ml and is an extremely classy shade for this holiday season.

10 - Holika Holika Rose Sheet Mask: She knows how much I'm loving these masks lately, so it was a safe bet that will be most appreciated.

Descansa en paz, Marie / Rest in Peace, Marie

Ayer fue un día duro para muchos fans de la música. A mí me llamó mi padre para darme una mala noticia: tenía una notificación en su móvil que informaba del *fallecimiento de Marie Fredriksson*.

Como sabéis, he sido y sigo siendo una gran fan de Roxette (de ahí el 'rox' de mi nick), además de seguir sus otros proyectos: de Per Gessle con Gyllene Tider -que en Suecia son como los Beatles o los Rolling Stones- y en solitario y como no, de Marie, ya fuera en sueco o en inglés.

Tuve la gran suerte de verlos en directo en el Palau Sant Jordi por primera vez en 2001 junto con mi amiga Vane. Unos meses antes, habíamos estado en la  firma de discos que hicieron en El Corte Inglés de Madrid por el lanzamiento del 'Room Service'. Allí estuvieron como jabatos hasta bien entrada la noche para que toda la gente de la cola se fuera con algo firmado por ellos.

Al acabar aquel concierto en Barcelona, todavía con la emoción en el cuerpo por el sueño cumplido, mi amiga Vane vio a Mikael, el marido de Marie, en la mesa de mezclas y empezó a gritar emocionada: Micke, your wife... The best!!
Y son tan cercanos y cariñosos, que como no nos escuchaba bien, bajó a saludarnos.
No tenemos ni una triste foto (no nos quedaban ya en las cámaras) ni se nos ocurrió pedirle un autógrafo o algo. Así de flipadas estábamos.
De aquel encuentro entendí lo que vio Marie en Mikael, os aseguro que tiene algo y comprendo cómo el día que le conoció llamó a su familia y amigos desde Australia para decirles que había conocido a su otra mitad.

Y casi un año después el mazazo: se le descubre un tumor cerebral, la operan con éxito -tenía sólo un 5-20% de posibilidades de salir adelante- pero el tratamiento posterior le dejó muchas secuelas: hubo momentos en los que no podía ni hablar y tuvo que volver a aprender, también a caminar y a contar. Micke fue su roca aquellos años.
Poco a poco se fue recuperando y le volvió a picar el gusanillo de la música, grabando un primer disco en solitario en inglés bastante centrado en esos años de sufrimiento y luego otros más comerciales. Hizo pequeñas apariciones junto a Per en conciertos de Gyllene Tider y en el hotel de Per que nos daban esperanza.
A pesar de las secuelas, nos ha regalado su participación en tres discos más como Roxette y varias giras... mundiales, nada menos. Algo que no hacían desde 1995.

En el blog os hablé de mi experiencia en *Tallin*, y de lo mucho que disfruté viéndola brillar en el escenario, aunque ya no tuviera la misma energía.  Marian también pudo verla cantar unos años después, en *Estocolmo*.

Pero las secuelas iban a más, la pierna ya no le respondía y tenía que cantar sentada. Sufrías viéndola entrar al escenario caminando muy lentamente apoyada en su ayudante... pero su voz jamás falló, algo que la llenaba de orgullo.
Tuvo que cancelar parte de la gira del 30 aniversario a regañadientes, por recomendación de sus médicos, que sabían -igual que nosotros- que no podía aguantar ese ritmo mucho más.

Y la mañana de este lunes 9 de diciembre se nos fue, en su casa junto al mar.
Per le ha dado las gracias por todos los años, por su amistad, por pintar de bellos colores sus letras en blanco y negro.
No ha sido el único. Hasta la familia real sueca le ha dejado unas palabras. Cantó en las bodas de las dos princesas.

 Jonas Åkerlund, director de muchos de sus videoclips, recordaba cómo fue ella la le dio su primer empujón confiando en él para los videos del 'Den Ständiga Resan', su cuarto disco en sueco en el 1992, cómo le presentó a Per, lo que le permitió hacer muchos videoclips de Roxette. Y le abrió las puertas para trabajar con Madonna y muchos más.

Nos ha dejado, pero nos queda su música, que nos ha acompañado durante la adolescencia, ha creado parejas y seguro que también ha engendrado bebés.
Yo les tengo que agradecer mi interés por la lengua inglesa, para entender sus canciones, las entrevistas, etc. Si hoy en día soy traductora, es en gran medida por ellos.

Per, Mikael, Josefin & Oskar... Things will never be the same. Para nosotros, sus fans, tampoco.

De vez en cuando me gusta despedirme con algo de música. A pesar de la pena, hoy no podía ser menos. '*Where your love lives*', versión en inglés de un tema que grabó en sueco hace unos años para una película.

Yesterday was a tough day for music lovers. My dad called me to give me the bad news: he got a notification on his phone reporting on *Marie Fredriksson's passing*.

As you know, I've been and still am a big fan of Roxette (hence the 'rox' in my username) as well as all their other projects: Per Gessle's work with his old band Gyllene Tider which in Sweden have the status of The Beatles or The Rolling Stones - and needless to say, Marie's work both in Swedish and English.

I was lucky enough to see them live for the first time in 2001 at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona with my buddy Vane. A few months earlier, we'd had a meet & greet with them in Madrid, when they were signing their latest album back then, 'Room Service'. They spent hours glued to their seats, long after dark until everyone in the line got their stuff signed.

At the end of that first show in Barcelona, still with shaky legs from the adrenaline rush, and having fulfilled a life-long dream my friend Vane spotted Mikael, Marie's husband at the sound board and she shouted out in ecstasy: Micke, your wife... The best!! 
And they're so humble and down-to-earth that he came down so he could hear what she was saying and say hello.
We do not have a single photo from the meeting, because we had none left in our cameras nor did we think of asking him to sign something for us. That's how flipped out we were!
From that meeting it took me two seconds flat to understand what Marie had seen in Micke and how the day she met him in Australia she'd called friends and family to tell them she'd found her other half. 

And almost a year after that show came the shock: a brain tumor was discovered after she'd collapsed at home, she underwent surgery succesfully -despite being given only a 5-20% chance of survival-. A handful of years of gruelling treatment followed with terrible side effects: there were times when she lost the ability to speak, count or walk and had to relearn again. Micke was her rock during that ordeal.
She was slowly on the mend and expressed an interest in music again. She released her first solo album in English, 'The Change' about those long years of suffering and then a couple of others closer to her previous work. She was a guest performer in some Per shows with his band Gyllene Tider and at Per's hotel, which gave us hope.
Despite the sequels she suffered, she's gifted us three more albums with Roxette and several tours... even world tours.
Something they hadn't done since 1995.

You may remember me telling you about my second Roxette concert in *Tallinn* and how much I enjoyed watching her shine onstage, even if she'd lost some of her former energy.
My sister could attend what would be my last show in *Stockholm*.

But those sequels kept taking its toll on her, her leg would no longer support her and she was forced to sit down in all of her shows. It was painful watching her walk onto the stage, talking tiny steps leaning on her assistant. But her voice never failed her, something she was proud of.
Their 30th anniversary tour was cancelled halfway and grudgingly on the advice of her doctors. They knew, just like us, that she couldn't keep up with that pace much longer.

And last Monday morning, December 9th she went away, from her home by the sea.
Per has thanked her for all those years, for her friendship and for colouring his black and white lyrics with beautiful colours.
He wasn't the only one. Even the Swedish Royal family has said their farewell: she'd sung at both princesses' weddings. 
Jonas Åkerlund, who directed many of their videoclips remembered how she'd believed in him for the first time, giving him, an up-and-coming artist a leg-up choosing him to make the videos for her 4th Swedish solo album in 1992 'Den Ständiga Resan'. She introduced him to Per, which would lead to him making most videos since then and would eventually make him famous enough to work for Madonna, among others. 

She's left us but her music will remain forever. It's been with us through our teenage years, has helped formed couples and surely has made a few babies.
I'm thankful for them, because they piqued my interest for the English language. I really wanted to understand their songs, their interviews, etc. Were it not for them, I may not be a translator today.

Per, Mikael, Josefin & Oskar... Things will never be the same. Neither for you, nor for us, her fans.
