Parecidos razonables / Reasonable lookalikes: Catrice 'Berry Potter and Plumbledore' vs. W7 'Metallic Venus'.

Aquí estoy de nuevo con otra entrega de parecidos razonables.

En esta ocasión, os comparo los esmaltes "Berry Potter and Plumbledore" de Catrice, y "Metallic Venus" de W7.

No son clones exactos, pero son bastante similares. Quizá el tono de base del esmalte de Catrice sea más morado, y en el de W7 predominen los reflejos azulados.

No sé si serán iguales en cuanto a pigmentación, porque Marox aún no ha estrenado el esmalte de Catrice.
El esmalte de W7 tiene una cobertura más bien ligera. Hacen falta varias capas de esmalte para conseguir el color que vemos en el bote.

Ya empezamos a tener parecidos razonables incluso entre nuestros esmaltes de tonos "especiales".

Here I am again with a new post about reasonable lookalikes.

This time, I'm comparing the polishes 'Berry Potter and Plumbledore' from Catrice, and 'Metallic Venus' from W7.

Though they're not exact dupes, they're very similar.



Maybe the shade of the Catrice polish is more purple than the shade of the W7 polish, where the blue undertones are more noticeable.

I don't know if they will have the same pigmentation, as Marox has not tried this polish from Catrice yet.
The polish from W7 has quite a sheer coverage. Several layers of polish are needed to get the shade we see in the bottle.

We're already starting to have some reasonable lookalikes, even among our polishes in 'special shades'.

UDLS/NOTW: 'Metallic Venus' (W7).

Aquí vengo con una nueva manicura.
Esta vez con el esmalte de W7 "Metallic Venus", que compré en Dublín.

Es un esmalte en color berenjena y acabado metálico con reflejos azulados, que se aprecian más o menos según le dé la luz.
Cuando lo probé en la rueda, me pareció que no iba a tener apenas cobertura, pues dejaba una capa ligera de color. Pero todo cambia al aplicar la segunda capa.

Esto que os cuento es mucho más evidente en las uñas que en la rueda.

Para esta manicura apliqué una capa de Nail Sealer de Essence, después dos de este esmalte, y por último, Seche Vite. Necesitaba que el esmalte se secara rápido, porque después nos íbamos de cena marox y yo (y 9 personas más).

Pues bien: la manicura ha aguantado 4 días perfecta. En la mano izquierda, habría aguantado más tiempo, pero en el dedo medio de la mano derecha apareció un gran desconchón de repente, sin avisar.

He quedado gratamente sorprendida con este esmalte. Ya había probado otro de la marca, que nos mandó Sarahlouise en aquel famoso intercambio que hicimos, y que tantas entradas ha generado.

Lo que más me llamó la atención en la tienda fue el color tan especial que tiene. No os podríais imaginar todos los que había, y en tonos para todos los gustos.

Here I am with a new mani.
This time with the polish from W7 'Metallic Venus', which I bought in Dublin.

It's a polish in a burgundy shade and metallic finish with blue reflections that are more or less noticeable depending on the light.
When I tried it on the wheel, it seemed to be sheer, as it left a very light layer of colour. But this changes with the second coat.

All this is much more visible on the nails than on the wheel.

For this mani I applied one coat of Nail Sealer from Essence, and then two of this and Seche Vite on top to finish.
I needed the polish to get dry quickly, because marox and I (and 9 more people) were dining out.

Ok, this mani has lasted perfect for 4 days. Maybe it could have lasted longer on the left hand, but a big chip appeared without notice
on my right middle finger.

I've been pleasantly surprised with this polish. I've tried another one from the same brand before, which we received from Sarahlouise on that famous swap, which we've written about so many times.





What I liked the most when I saw it at the store was how special the shade looked. You couldn't imagine how many of them there were, in shades to suit all tastes.

Revisando la carpeta de fotos para el blog en el disco duro, me he encontrado con un par de ellas que sirven para esta serie de "Parecidos razonables", pero por motivos distintos.

Having a look at the folder with pics for the blog in my hard drive, I've found a pair of them that are a perfect match for the 'Reasonable lookalikes' series, but for different reasons.

Vamos con la primera foto.

Let's go with the first pic.



Me diréis que los colores se parecen como un huevo a una castaña. Es cierto, pero en este caso el parecido no está en los colores, sino en la forma del envase.
Ahora ya tiene sentido, ¿verdad?

You'll tell me that the two shades don't look like each other at all. It's true, but in this case you won't find the likeliness in the shades, but in the shape of the bottle. Now it makes sense, doesn't it?

El envase de la izquierda es de un esmalte de OPI y el de la derecha, de W7, de uno de los esmaltes que nos envió Sarah Louise en el intercambio que hicimos hace poco.

The bottle on the left is from a polish from OPI, and the one on the right from W7, which is one of the polishes Sarah Louise sent us when we made a swap a few weeks ago.

Y ahora vamos con el "Parecidos razonables" de verdad.
Comparamos el esmalte de Claire's 9517 (nunca sé si este número es la referencia correcta), de un color morado claro con el esmalte de W7 que os enseñaba en la foto anterior.

And now let's go with the real 'Reasonable lookalikes'. We're comparing now the polish from Claire's 9517 (I never know if this number is the right reference), in a pale purple shade, with the one from W7, which I already showed you on the upper pic.



La verdad es que no son clones exactos. El esmalte de W7 tiene un subtono más azulado que el de Claire's. Sin embargo, su cobertura es muy similar; es decir, baja. Hay que aplicar varias capas para que se aprecie el color. Una pena.

The fact is that they're not exact dupes. The polish from W7 has more blue undertones than the one from Claire's. However, their coverage is very similar; I mean, low. You have to apply several coats to see the colour appearing. Pity.

Ahora que pienso, el esmalte de Claire's ya os lo había enseñado cuando hice recopilación de mis esmaltes en la rueda. Pero el de W7 no lo habíais visto como es debido, así que aquí lo tenéis, más en detalle.

Intercambio con / Swap with: Spellbinding Nails

Hola de nuevo:

El mes pasado participamos por primera vez en un intercambio. La elegida fue Sarah Louise, una de nuestras primeras seguidoras y responsable del blog Spellbinding Nails en el que casi a diario nos ofrece coloridas manicuras creadas con alguna de las placas de estampación de su interminable y siempre creciente colección.
Pero Sarah ansiaba ampliar esa colección con dos placas más, en concreto con dos placas de Essence -marca, por cierto, que no se vende en el Reino Unido- algo difíciles de encontrar. En nuestro último viaje, marox se hizo en Kruidvat con un par para ella y compró otro pensando en un posible intercambio.

Last month we did a swap for the first time. Sarah Louise, one of our first followers and the person behind the blog Spellbinding Nails was the chosen one. In her blog, you'll find colourful and almost daily manis featuring designs from her endless (and evergrowing) image plate collection. But Sarah had set her eyes on two more plates for some time, in particular two of the Essence plates that happen to be a little bit HTF. Btw, Essence is not sold in the UK but thankfully for her, Marox got from Kruidvat a pair for herself and another one with a possible swap in mind.

Sarah nos ha mandado esmaltes de algunas de las marcas que podemos encontrar en el Reino Unido, como Models Own, o 17 y W7 de las droguerías Boots. Como teníamos ganas de tener un esmalte holográfico al estilo del de Gosh, Sarah nos ofreció como alternativa uno de Marks & Spencer que tiene muy buena pinta. No es tan superholográfico como el de Gosh, lo que por otra parte tiene sus ventajas, ya que así es más ponible.


Sarah has sent to us a few polishes from some of the brands available in the UK, such as Models Own, 17 or W7 from Boots. As we wanted to have a more linear holo like the now HTF Gosh Holographic, Sarah suggested this from Marks & Spencer as a good alternative and indeed it is. It looks very nice and though it's not as in-your-face holo like the Gosh one, so much the better, as it makes it much more wearable.

Pero su paquete no sólo contenía esmaltes: también nos ha mandado dos placas con unos diseños muy bonitos y que a buen seguro usaremos pronto. Cada una de ellas contiene diseños de dos tamaños, los más grandes son tan grandes que son perfectos para las uñas del dedo gordo del pie. Hay más cositas de nail art: unas pegatinas con forma de corazón del kit de 17 y unas ¿calcomanías al agua? de VivaLaNails. También nos ha mandado un rotulador con pincelito con aceite hidratante para uñas y cutículas, que Marian está deseando probar. También hay una bolsita zip con unos adornitos para las uñas muy cucos: gatitos, mariposas, etc. Supongo que se pegarán a la uña con un poco de pegamento o esmalte.

But her package did not contain merely nail varnish: she also sent us two image plates with some cute designs we'll probably use very soon. These contain designs in two different sizes, the biggest ones are so big that will work great to use on the big toe. There are more nail art items: heart-shaped stickers as part of the 17 nail art set and a couple of water decals?? from VivaLaNails. She also enclosed a nail care pen with a brush on one end with nourishing oils for cuticles and nails that Marian is very eager to try. There was also a small ziplock bag with the cutest nail décor ever: cats, butterflies, etc. I suppose they'll get stuck to the nails with some glue or nail polish.



Y como a nadie le amarga un dulce, pues nos mandó una bolsa de gominolas, que como véis, nos ha faltado tiempo para estrenar y hacerle el pertinente contol de calidad. Lo han aprobado con nota, jeje.

And as we say here, sweet things never made anyone bitter, so she also sent a bag of gummies that we couldn't help opening to perform the customary quality control. They passed with merit, lol.
