Kiko Rojo #243 'Rosso Prugna' + Depend Crackle 5002 = BARÇA, lol.

Os presento otro esmalte de Kiko, que tenía pendiente de estrenar desde que lo comprara en el viaje a Madrid *ver post haul*.

Meet another Kiko polish, still in my untrieds since I bought it on our Madrid trip *see haul post*.

Día 1: Después de ducharme, aplico una capa de base de Basic (Schlecker), seguida de una generosa de este esmalte (en algunas uñas aplico una segunda muy finita). Remato con una capa de SecheVite. Unos veinte minutos más tarde, estoy vistiéndome y maquillándome para salir sin ningún problema.

Yo díría que el acabado de este esmalte es 'jelly' y el color es un rojo sangre.

Day 1: After taking a shower, I put on a coat of base from Basic (Schlecker), followed by a generous one of this polish – it was a two-coater on a couple of nails-. I topped it all with Seche Vite. About 20 minutes later, I was getting dressed and putting on my make up ready to go out and no damage was done.

I'd say this has a jelly finish and describe the colour as blood red.

Día 3: Por la noche, estreno el crackling azul de Depend tan sólo en la mitad de la uña, con una manicura con cinta adhesiva. Es mi primer intento poniendo en práctica la técnica utilizada por artistas como Erika de Chloe's Nails o Jane de Nailside. El resultado es de lo más azulgrana, perfecto para un día de partido, jeje.

El esmalte de craquelado de Depend seca muy, muy rápido y es bastante espeso. Sospecho que habrá que tener cuidado para que no se seque en el bote.

Day 3: At night, I use my blue crackle from Depend for the first time, but just on one side of the nail, making it my first tape mani. My first attempt with the technique expertly used by artists like Erika from Chloe's Nails or Jane from Nailside. It's very Barça, perfect for a football evening, lol.

The Depend crackle dries really, really fast and has a thick consistency. I suspect I'll have to be really careful with this one to prevent it from drying in the bottle.

I took it off after 5 days of wear. An A+ in that department.

Judging by the colour combination I used for this mani, I don't think I need to tell you which team I'll be rooting for in the Supercopa Final tonight, do I?. Well, it's Barçaaaaaaa !!!

Con bastante retraso, escribo este post sobre lo acontecimientos que han marcado las noticias de las dos últimas semanas.

With quite a long delay, I'm writing my view on the news that have made the headlines over the last two weeks.

En esta ocasión, comienzo por la noticia internacional, que no podía ser otra que los atentados terroristas de Noruega. El pasado viernes 22 de julio el hasta entonces pacífico país nórdico contemplaba horrorizado primeramente cómo una explosión en el centro de Oslo causaba la muerte al menos a 9 personas. Poco más de una hora después, un hombre fuertemente armado disfrazado de policía llegaba a la tranquila isla de Utøya -situada a unos 35 kms al noroeste de la capital- en la que durante más de una hora se dedicó a abrir fuego de forma indiscriminada, acabando con la vida de otras 80 personas antes de ser detenido por agentes de la policía y cuerpos de élite noruegos.

I'll start with the international news first, and my pick for this news bit could only be the terrorist attacks in Norway. Last Friday, July 22nd, the until then always peaceful Scandinavian country witnessed first an explosion in downtown Oslo, killing at least 9 people. A little more than an hour later, a man armed with a pistol and an automatic riffle, dressed in a police uniform set foot on the Utoeya island, located some 20 miles north-west of the capital- where over the next hour he went on to shoot and kill another 80 before being finally arrested by the police and the SWAT team deployed to stop him.

Las características del atentado inicial, mediante una bomba colocada cerca de la sede del Primer Ministro y varios ministerios, unida a la participación de Noruega en misiones de la OTAN en Oriente Medio junto a un comunicado de un grupo yihadista (que se retractó más tarde), hizo pensar en Al-Qaeda. El verdadero responsable, Anders Behring Breivik, un ciudadano noruego de 32 años, probablemente contaba con ello. La policía, ocupada en atender a las víctimas de la explosión localizada en el distrito gubernamental de Oslo, no podía ni imaginarse que el responsable tenía planeada una segunda matanza aprovechando la confusión.

The nature of the first attack, a bomb going off near the Prime Minister's offices and several ministries, combined with Norway's participation in NATO-led actions in the Middle East and a faction of Jihad terrorists claiming responsibility (later taken back) for the attack, spelled the name of Al-Qaeda. The real culprit, a 32-year-old Norwegian citizen, Anders Behring Breivik, was probably counting on it. The police, with their hands full helping the victims in the explosion at the heart of Oslo's governmental district, had no idea his killing spree was not over yet.

Me he referido a este individuo como terrorista, ya que eso es lo que es: no es un loco (sabe perfectamente lo que ha hecho y lo que es más, no se arrepiente). Según las últimas investigaciones, también llevaba planeando estos ataques durante aproximadamente cinco años. Ante hechos violentos como éstos (o ya puestos, los asesinos de mujeres maltratadas), nunca falta quien habla de 'enajenados', dando pie a que se considere su supuesto estado mental como atenuante. Anders Breivik es un terrorista, ya que ha sembrado el terror. Punto.

I referred above to this individual as a terrorist and indeed he is: he's not a madman (he knows perfectly well what he's done and what's more, he does not regret his actions). According to the latest reports, he had been planning the killings for about five years. When a tragedy like this (or wife-beaters/killers for that matter) strikes, someone sooner or later will use the word 'madman' or similar ones, implying that their so-called mental state will have to be considered as an extenuating circumstance before a jury. Anders Breivik is a terrorist, as he left terror behind him. Full stop.

En los días posteriores a estos atentados, hemos ido conociendo más detalles sobre el asesino: antiguo militante de un partido de derechas, lo abandonó ante la actitud "blanda" del mismo en cuestiones de inmigración, el multiculturalismo, etc. En un escrito de 1500 páginas enviado a través de Internet ese mismo día, demuestra estar muy al tanto de la actualidad mundial, criticando por ejemplo (y con mucho detalle) la actitud blandengue ante la inmigración del gobierno de España, donde había preparado también varios escondites con explosivos. El Sr. Breivik debía pensar que no tenemos suficiente con nuestros terroristas.
En su "manifiesto" se muestra también obsesionado con los Balcanes y se ve a sí mismo como un caballero templario del siglo XXI, cuya misión es "limpiar" Europa de musulmanes, etc.

In the course of a few days after the killings, more details about the killer have been made public: a former supporter of a right-wing party, he left it due to their 'bland' stance on emigration issues, multiculturalism, etc. In a 1,500-page document he e-mailed the very same day, he reveals himself to be very well-informed about what's going on in the world, critisizing for example and in some detail, the Spanish government's rather soft attitude towards immigration, having set up several hideouts with explosives here. In his 'manifesto', he's patently obsessed with the Balkans as well, and regards himself as a 21st-century crusader, on a mission to 'cleanse' Europe of Muslims.

Lo que no debemos ignorar, es que por justa que uno crea su causa, no se puede pretender defenderla vulnerando los derechos de los demás (véase 'Los Indignados', cuyas acampadas han puesto contra las cuerdas a muchos negocios), ni mucho menos matando para ello. Porque si así lo hace, estará haciendo un flaco favor a dicha causa.
Aprendamos de los errores del pasado, para que no haya más Hitlers, Milosevics, Pinochets, Carrillos, Francos, Bin Ladens ni Breiviks en este mundo.

What we should never forget is that, no matter how fair one thinks his cause to be, you cannot defend it going against the rights of others (i.e, the Indignados camps, leaving hundreds of small businesses on the verge of bankruptcy), and even less killing for it. Because if you do, you'll be rendering that cause a poor service. Let us learn from the mistakes of the past, so there are no more Hitlers, Milosevics, Pinochets, Carrillos, Francos, Bin Ladens or Breiviks in this world.

Y en lo nacional, me tengo que quedar también con una "noticia" de tipo político. Lo de las comillas, lo digo porque era un secreto a voces que el gobierno no agotaría la legislatura. El pasado día 29 de julio, viernes también, el presidente Zapatero anunciaba en rueda de prensa la convocatoria de elecciones para el próximo 20 de noviembre. Ahora ya sabemos lo que nos espera, aguantar una larga campaña electoral con cruces de acusaciones de izquierda a derecha, de derecha a izquierda y ya puestos, de arriba a abajo y de abajo a arriba. Sospecho que la campaña va a ser movidita y no muy limpia, probablemente.

And in the national segment, I have no choice but choose something political too. Not that is was nothing 'new' or unexpected, as it was an open secret the present government would not finish its term of office. On July 29th, Friday again, President Zapatero called a press conference to announce the next general elections are to be held on November 20th. And now will be our turn to entertain ourselves with a long electoral campaign with a cross-fire of accusations from left to right, from right to left and, now that they're on it, from up down and down up. I got a feeling it's going to be a rough campaign and not exactly clean/fair, probably.

Y en deportes, Alonso volvió a subirse al podio en Hungaroring, circuito de recuerdos agridulces para él. A ver qué nos depara la próxima carrera, Spa, para la que nos va a tocar esperar un poco, hasta el 28 de agosto.



And in sports, Alonso did another podium at Hungaroring, a circuit of bitter-sweet memories for him. We'll have to wait a bit for the next race, in Spa next August 28th and to see what happens there.

Y aunque la imagen fuera del GP de Alemania, permitidme que la recuerde: Red Bull inaugura su flota de taxis con Mark Webber como amable conductor del servicio de asistencia en viaje para el equipo Ferrari.




And though the image dates back to the German GP earlier this summer, let me remember it. Red Bull presenting their new fleet of taxicabs, in the hands of a kind chauffeur, Mr. Mark Webber, providing some breakdown service for team Ferrari.

Permitidme también que termine mi análisis como lo empecé, con un recuerdo para el pueblo noruego y una hermosa canción que siento apropiada en estas circunstancias.

Aquí estoy de nuevo con el resumen semanal de las noticias.

Hoy comenzaré por los deportes, con la inesperada pero más que merecida victoria de Fernando Alonso en territorio McLaren, en el GP de Silverstone que tuvo lugar el pasado domingo. Fernando, que partía desde la tercera posición, supo aprovechar las circunstancias para subir a lo más alto del podio. Esperemos que sea la primera de muchas victorias más esta temporada.

El equipo Redbull por una vez falló en las paradas en boxes, no sólo como viene siendo habitual en la del australiano Mark Webber sino también en la de su niño bonito, el alemán Sebastian Vettel.
Aunque por una vez la suerte benefició al asturiano, él puso mucho de su parte para hacerse finalmente con la victoria, con un pilotaje impecable y marcando excelentes tiempos, lo que le llevó a conseguir 20 segundos de ventaja sobre el líder del mundial, Vettel.
El equipo Ferrari, no obstante, tendría que mejorar sus paradas en boxes, ya que una de las paradas del asturiano, de 5.8 segundos a punto estuvo de mandarlo todo al garete. Con Massa a veces también no han sido todo lo rápidos que deberían.
Los mecánicos no estuvieron demasiado inspirados, ya que el británico Jenson Button, el mejor clasificado de los ingleses, no pudo terminar la carrera, teniendo que abandonar nada más salir de boxes por una rueda mal puesta. "El Tuercas" volvió a hacer de las suyas, esta vez en el equipo McLaren.

Here am I again with my weekly summary of the news.

I'll start with the sports news and with the unexpected but well-deserved victory of Fernando Alonso at the Silverstone GP last Sunday. Fernando, who started the race from P3 took advantage of other teams' mistakes to make it first on the finish line. I hope it's the first of many victories this season for Fernando.

Team Red Bull did not give another example of pit-stop clockwork perfection, neither on Mark Webber's stop (hardly surprising, anyway) nor on that of their protegé, German champion Sebastian Vettel.
For once, fortune was on the Asturian's side though he was the master of his own victory, with an impeccable driving from start to finish, setting competitive as-regular-as-clockwork times lap after lap, eventually gaining 20 seconds of advantage over the championship's leader, Sebastian Vettel.
It was not a good day for the mechanics, with the Brit Jenson Button forced to stop right after his pitstop, due to a badly adjusted tyre. Renault's Mr. Nut seems to have paid McLaren a visit.

However, team Ferrari should work on their pitstops as well, as the 5.8' stop they needed for Fernando almost spoilt the victory and the far from perfect stops they've done for Massa certainly are no help either.

Y el domingo, se cumplió un año del famoso 'Iniesta de mi vida' *ver* en el minuto 116 de partido, de la patada estilo Karate Kid de De Jong a Xavi Alonso que nos hizo temer lo peor y sí, del beso de Casillas a la Carbonero.

Que la FIFA castigara a Iniesta con una tarjeta amarilla y multa por acordarse del fallecido Jarque en su celebración del gol, es algo que no alcanzaré a comprender.
I'll never understand how FIFA could impose a yellow card and a fine on Iniesta for his tribute to the late RCD Espanyol captain Dani Jarque when celebrating his goal.

Where were you the day of the final? Me, as everyone in Spain, watching the game but also looking at the watch at the same time because I had to read an exam the next day and that required getting up at the crack of dawn.

Y dejando los deportes a un lado, la actualidad nacional ha estado marcada por 'Oh, ¡qué *sorpresa*! el anuncio del ya ex-vicepresidente Alfredo Pérez Rucalcaba como candidato a la presidencia del gobierno en las próximas elecciones generales, tras la retirada a regañadientes de Carme Chacón, ministra de Defensa. Se rumorea que podrían adelantarse al 27 de noviembre, sin esperar al 2012.
En el caso SGAE, continúan las investigaciones de la Audiencia Nacional y se van conociendo más datos sobre el presunto fraude, principalmente, el montante del "pufo".

And leaving sports aside, the national news this week focused on the not-very-surprising announcement of the now former vicepresident Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba as the candidate for the upcoming general elections, in theory set for 2012 but according to other sources, rumoured to be held as early as November 27th this year. Rubalcaba is the only candidate within the Socialist Party, after the unwilling withdrawal of Defense Minister Carme Chacón.
As for the SGAE court case, the Audiencia Nacional investigation is still in progress and more details about the alledged fraud are slowing surfacing, namely the con's total amount.

Ya os comenté en la primera entrada que hice de actualidad, que me gusta cómo los medios de comunicación son capaces de contar una noticia con una imagen. De vez en cuando, me doy una vuelta a ver qué encuentro que me guste especialmente.

I told you in the first current affairs post that I wrote that I love how the media can tell a story just with one picture. Every now and then, I do some searching to see if there's anything that gets my eye.

La noticia que ha acaparado todos los informativos ha sido la captura y muerte del terrorista de origen saudí Osama bin Laden, a manos de un comando de élite -los S.E.A.L.- del ejército estadounidense. Curiosidades de la vida, bin Laden había recibido entrenamiento militar de la C.I.A. hace muchos años.
Me quedo con la pancarta. "Don't mess with the U.S. = No os metáis con EEUU." Igualito que en España -*modo irónico 'On'*.

The news that has made the headlines worldwide was the capture and death of former Saudi citizen and terrorist Osama bin Laden at the hands of the US S.E.A.L. troops. Strangely enough, bin Laden had received military training from the C.I.A. many years ago.
My favourite placard is the one that reads: 'Don't mess with the U.S. Just like in Spain -*ironic mode 'On'*.

Y como me gusta la F1, os dejo una foto de 'Magic Alonso', que nos regaló tremendo carrerón ayer domingo. Terminó tercero, pero durante gran parte de la carrera, nos hizo soñar con el segundo puesto.

As for tennis, luck wasn't on Nadal's side at the Mutua Madrid Open in Madrid, or maybe I should say Djokovic played terrific and was the fair winner. Yes, yesterday we played lots of 'couch-ball' at home.

Este fin de semana se ha batido un récord histórico en el deporte español: David Villa, 'El Guaje', ha superado a Rául como máximo goleador de la selección española. No ha sido fácil, el tanto que le faltaba para igualar o superar al ex-madridista se ha hecho de rogar.
A sus 29 años, el asturiano ha marcado 46 goles con el equipo nacional. A su misma edad, Raúl ya no disputaba partidos internacionales, por lo que a este ritmo, podrá seguir deleitándonos con su instinto killer goleador durante mucho tiempo.

This weekend a historical record was broken in Spanish sports: David Villa, aka 'El Guaje' beat Raul as the greatest scorer in the National Football/Soccer Team. It wasn't an easy feat, the goal he needed to equal or surpass the former Real Madrid star was hard to achieve. Aged 29, the Asturian has scored 46 goals with the National team. At the same age, Raúl was no longer playing with the Selección so, at this rate, Villa will be probably delighting us for many years with his killer scoring instinct.

Villa es un tipo trabajador, generoso, discreto y orgulloso de su origen humilde. En su primera temporada en el Barça su empeño goleador no siempre ha dado los frutos que ha merecido. Eso sí, salió ovacionado en el Real Madrid-Barça de esta temporada con sus dos goles. Así que tranquilos, que cuando está en racha, no hay quien le pare.
Un tipo listo, al que pocos jugadores hacen sombra. Como no pudo con uno de sus rivales deportivos en su juventud, se casó con ella, Patricia, la madre de sus dos hijas.

Villa is a hard-working, generous, discreet guy who's proud of his humble origins. In his first season as a FC Barcelona player is not reaping all the profits he has deserved. All in all, his two goals against Real Madrid in this year's derby earned him a standing ovation from his team's eternal rival. Don't worry, he's unstoppable when he's on a winning streak. A smart guy few players can outshine in the field. As he couldn't beat one of his childhood sports rivals he married her, Patricia, his wife and mother of his two daughters.

Y seguimos con otro asturiano, D. Fernando Alonso Díaz, 'El Nano' o 'Magic' que este fin de semana ha terminado cuarto en la primera carrera de la temporada de F1, aunque mereció más.

En la clasificación hizo lo que pudo y tras otra ya habitual mala salida de los Ferrari combinada con las maniobras de Petrov durante la misma, tocó remontada. Está claro que hay cabeza, manos y talento de sobra, pero en La Scuderia ya pueden mejorar las salidas o lo vamos a pasar tan mal como en la pasada temporada. El Nano hace magia, pero milagros... Dadle una buena herramienta y os llevará a lo más alto.
El Renault con el que se coronó bicampeón salía como un veneno, eso nos vendría de perlas.

And the other star of the weekend is fellow Asturian, Mr. Fernando Alonso Díaz, aka 'El Nano' or 'Magic' who finished fourth in the first race of this year's F1 season, though he deserved better.

He did his best during the Qualifying and after another bad start for the Ferraris -and watch out, this is not a surprise anymore- and Petrov's manouvres at the beginning of the race it was fight time for Fernando again. He's got the brains, the hands and the talent but the Scuderia had better do something to improve their performance at the race start or we'll be struggling to recover the lost positions like last year. El Nano does Magic but does not perform... miracles. Just give him proper tools and he'll take you to the top. The Renault he won his two titles with was full of energy and spite at the start, we could do with some of that.

Gran debut del mejicano Sergio Pérez, que por desgracia poco después ha vivido en sus propias carnes cómo se las gastan los coleguis de la FIA como algún secundario se les salga del guión. Sr. Whiting y cía, si hay algún problema con los coches, solucionenlo ANTES de la carrera. Como decimos por aquí, luego: Santa Rita, Rita, lo que se da no se quita.
A Mark Webber se la volvió a jugar su propio equipo, con su ya habitual 'igualdad asimétrica' aprendida de McLaren.

Great debut of the Mexican rookie Sergio Pérez, who unfortunately had his first experience of the FIA's double standard whenever a supporting actor pretends to play a leading role. Mr Whiting and Co.: If you spot any dodgy stuff in a car, please do something about it BEFORE the race. As we say over here, in other words: Don't take away what you've previously given. RB is again playing dirty tricks on Mark Webber, in yet another example of the 'unequal equality' McLaren excelled at.

Y hablando de Asturias, afortunados sus lugareños que pueden disfrutar de las carreras sin innumerables cortes publicitarios. Igualito que en 'La Secta', que nos fríe a anuncios.

And back to the topic of Asturias, lucky those of you living there who can enjoy the races without the endless commercials we have to endure with 'La Secta'.
