Hotel Shnelli Go- Tallinn (2)

Tenía pendiente hablaros de las habitaciones del hotel donde me alojé en Tallin, el Hotel Shnelli Go, del que os hablé *aquí*.
Mi reserva era para una habitación doble de uso individual (DUI) y en concreto, me asignaron la 216, situada en el segundo piso del hotel y con vistas a la estación de tren.

I owed you the second installment about the hotel I stayed at in Tallinn, the Schnelli Go, as I mentioned *here*.
My reservation was for a double room to be used as a single and was given Room 216, located on the second floor and overlooking the railway station.




Las habitaciones con vistas a la estación de tren se caracterizan por ser más ruidosas que las que dan a la Ciudad Vieja. Como no era capaz de cerrar la ventana del todo, sí que se escuchaba el ruido de los trenes, tanto de día como de noche. Era un ruido similar al del camión de los residuos de vidrio descargando.

The rooms overlooking the Railway Station are therefore noisier than those with views to the Old Town. As I was unable to close the double-glazing window completely, I did get to hear the noise from the incoming trains, both during the day and at night. It reminded me of the noise from the glass refuse collection truck.




Soy una persona de poco dormir y es algo que ya tengo asumido. Aunque el ruido se hacía un poco molesto, no dije nada en recepción, porque total, tampoco iba a estar muchos días allí y cuando te pasas el día recorriendo la ciudad visitando sitios sueles llegar al hotel rendida y caes en seguida.

I'm a light sleeper and I'm quite reconciled with that. Though the noise was a bit annoying, I didn't say anything at reception, as I was not staying long anyway. Besides, when you travel abroad, you usually spend the entire day doing lots of sightseeing and are totally exhausted when you're back to the hotel at the end of the day and most times fall asleep within minutes.

Como suele ser habitual fuera de España, la habitación del hotel carece de persianas y las gruesas cortinas no impedían que el sol inundara la habitación... ¡a las cuatro de la mañana! Sí, en Estonia amanece realmente pronto, porque el sol a esas horas ya tenía fuerza. Curioso.

As is usually the case outside Spain, the hotel had no blinds and the heavy curtains/drapes did not stop the sun from shining into the room... at four am!! Yes, the sun does rise quite early in Estonia and it was blazing already. Odd.

Los huéspedes ingleses, probablemente echarán de menos un hervidor eléctrico para preparar té o café. No habría estado mal haber tenido un minibar (vacío, para meter lo que nos apetezca en él y poderlo tomar a cualquier hora. Lo cierto es que no todos los hoteles de 3* disponen de él.

English guests will probably miss having an electric kettle or other tea/coffee-making facilities. I would have liked to have a minibar (an empty one, to fill it with the items of our choice and be able to have something cool to drink anytime). The truth is not all 3* hotels have it.

Las camas son cómodas y la temperatura de la habitación era agradable. La almohada era más baja de lo que a mí me gustan, pero como viajaba sola, pues me cogí la de la otra cama y solucionado. El tamaño de la habitación era adecuado, podías moverte sin problema de un lado a otro sin preocuparte de toparte con algún mueble.

The beds were comfortable and the room temperature was nice. The pillow was lower than my taste, but as I was travelling solo, I grabbed the one from the other bed and problem solved. The size of the room was good, you could move around freely and without having to worry about bumping into the furniture.

Me llamó la atención el hecho de que no hubiera un armario como tal, cerrado, con sus puertas. Lo cierto es que como mi equipaje consiste en ropa de sport poco "arrugable", tampoco me suelo molestar demasiado en deshacer la maleta, pero en esta ocasión sí que llevé alguna prenda para colgar y se me hacía un poco raro tenerla que dejar a la vista colgadas de la barra.

There was no closet or wardrobe, with doors on it, which I found a bit surprising. The truth is I dress rather casual and my travel outfits are no exception. I don't like to bring clothes that are prone to creasing and usually seldom bother to really unpack, but I did bring a few items that were best kept hung and leaving them in plain sight was kinda strange for me.

En cuanto al baño, cuenta con una ducha construída del mismo material que el resto del baño, aunque con el desnivel suficiente para que no quede rastro del agua a los pocos minutos de utilizarla. En lugar de cortina, tiene una pequeña mampara de cristal, que no cubre toda la zona de la ducha. Al leer las opiniones del hotel en Internet había algunas críticas al respecto, diciendo que se ponía todo perdido. Yo no tuve problema: si tenéis un poco de cuidado y os colocáis cerca de los grifos, a los pocos minutos el agua ya ha desaparecido.




As for the bathroom, it has a shower but not a proper 'dish', meaning that is built from the same material as the rest of the floor, with a gentle slope so that the water disappears down the drain in a few minutes. Instead of a shower curtain, there's a small glass partition that does not cover the entire shower space. While reading the comments about the hotel when making my travel arrangements, a few people critisized the fact, pointing out that the bathroom was a mess. I had no problem whatsoever: if you're careful and stand near the shower, there will be no trace of water within minutes.




La presión del agua era muy buena, ya que en algunos hoteles ducharse -y de lavarse el pelo mejor no hablo- puede costarte un triunfo. Ningún problema con la temperatura del agua.
The water pressure was very good, unlike in other hotels where taking a shower -talk about washing your hair- can be quite tricky. The same goes for water temperature.

Al menos en el baño de mi habitación, no vi ningún enchufe, lo que podría ser un problema si lleváis un secador/plancha para el pelo, etc. Sí que hay uno fuera del baño, junto a un espejo de cuerpo entero.
La habitación cuenta con numerosos enchufes, por lo que no tendréis problema para enchufar vuestro ordenador o teléfono si lo necesitáis.

At least in my en-suite bathroom, there was no socket and that might be a problem if you need your hairdryer/flat iron, etc. There is one right outside the bathroom, next to a full-length mirror.
The room does have several power sockets, so plugging your laptop or cellphone won't be a problem if you need to.

El servicio de limpieza de la habitación muy eficiente. Me cambiaron las toallas todos los días, a pesar de que podría haberlas utilizado más tiempo (de hecho, yo las dejaba colgadas normalmente, no en el suelo).

Housekeeping service was very efficient too. I got fresh towels every day, even though I could have perfectly used them a bit longer (I left them on the hanger, not the floor).

En la entrada anterior comenté que el hotel está equipado con conexión WiFi gratuita, que en mi caso, funcionó perfectamente en todo el recinto del hotel: restaurante, habitación, etc. Mi teléfono detectaba las siguientes conexiones: Elektriraudtee 2105 (la estación de tren), Go Group, Go Hotels y Go Public. Yo me conecté a 'Go Hotels', con acceso protegido mediante contraseña (el tfno. del hotel).

In the previous entry I mentioned the hotel offers free WiFi, which in my case worked flawlessly regardless of where I was: the hotel's restaurant, my room, etc. My phone found the following networks: Elektriraudtee 2105 (the Railway station), Go Group, Go Hotels and Go Public. I used the 'Go Hotels', which is password protected -the hotel's phone no.

De compras por Tallin (Parte 2) / Tallinn Shopping Guide (Part 2)

En la primera parte dedicada a los mejores lugares para hacer nuestras compras en Tallin, os hablé del C.C. Viru Keskus, muy céntrico ya que está pegando al casco antiguo.

Hoy, os hablaré de un pequeño centro (galerías) comercial que también está en el centro, el Foorum y del centro comercial más grande de Estonia, el Rocca al Mare. En mi post sobre las compras de Tallin que he subido hace poco, podéis ver lo que compré tanto en el Viru Keskus como en el Rocca al Mare.

In the first part of my Tallinn Shopping Guide about the best places to go shopping in Tallinn, I talked about the Viru Keskus shopping centre, a very convenient Mall as it is right next to the Old Town.

Today I'll tell you about a much smaller shopping (arcade) centre, Foorum Keskus, also in the city centre and also about Estonia's largest shopping centre, the Rocca al Mare Mall. In my Tallinn haul post I uploaded earlier, you can see my purchases from both Viru Keskus and Rocca al Mare.




Las galerías comerciales Foorum están a poca distancia del Viru Keskus. Allí encontramos algunas tiendas de ropa como la francesa MORGAN, la danesa S'NOB y Replay. En cuanto a cosmética, tenemos una tienda de Lush y una tienda de productos de peluquería muy interesante llamada Thaya, ya que tiene un stand de la americana Palladio y otro de Spa Rituals, para las que gustamos de pintarnos las uñas. A diferencia de lo que suele ocurrir en España, en Estonia no me ha dado la impresión de que inflan los precios de las marcas extranjeras que traen (Opi, por ejemplo). Finalmente no compré nada, pero es un detalle que me parece digno de mención. La media de precios de Palladio era de unos 6€, los esmaltes de Spa Ritual eran más caros, pero en EEUU yo diría que es una marca con la que darse un caprichín de vez en cuando (sobre todo cuando estás rodeada de marcas baratísimas).

The Foorum shopping arcade is really close to Viru Keskus. If you're looking for clothes, you might want to check out the French Morgan, the Danish S'NOB and Replay. As for cosmetics, there's a Lush store and also a beauty supplies store called Thaya, a place you may also want to go into as it has both a display from the American Palladio and another one of Spa Ritual, for those who love painting their nails. Unlike what we're used to here in Spain, I didn't get the impression in Estonia that foreign brands being imported into the country being overinflated in the process (as OPI is here, for instance). I didn't get anything in the end, but I thought it was something worth mentioning. The average price in the Palladio counter was about 6 EUR, with Spa Rituals lacquers being more expensive, though I'd say it's a brand one splurges in the US, too (particulary when you're surrounded by lots and lots of dirt cheap brands).



Y finalmente, tendríamos el Rocca al Mare. A diferencia de los anteriores, está bastante apartado, por lo que lo ideal sería ir hasta allí en coche o en transporte público (en mi caso, el Trolebús nº 7). Está enfrente del Zoo de Tallin, que ya os enseñé en mi última entrada de viajes.




And finally we have the Rocca al Mare. Unlike the other two, it's quite far and you'd either need a car or use public transport to get there (in my case, Trolleybus no. 7). It's opposite Tallinn's Zoo I mentioned in my previous travel post.




En cuanto a ropa, tenemos de nuevo tiendas como Seppälä y un outlet de Stockmann. La verdad es que no entré en ninguna de ellas, pero sí que hice sendas fotos, como podéis ver. Había otra macrolibrería (con cafetería/cibercafé y todo, de la misma cadena en la que compré uno de los libros que me he traido de este viaje, sólo que yo lo compré en la del Viru Keskus.
Tenemos también otro Accesorize (tienda un poco "carera", aunque con cosas monas), Esprit y otras muchas más. Ya he comentado que yo orientándome soy peor que un "pulpo en un garaje" y para muestra un botón: pensé que había dado la vuelta a todo el centro comercial, cuando para mi sorpresa me topé con otro pasillo de tiendas, entre ellas un Marks & Spencer. ;)




As for clothes, again we have Seppälä and a Stockmann Outlet. The truth is I didn't get in any of them, but I did take a couple of pics, as you can see. There was also a huge bookstore from the same chain I visited at Viru Keskus (and where I bought one of the books I've brought home from this trip). It had an online café too. There was another Accesorize (a pricey store, imo, though with cute stuff), Esprit and a lot more. I've already mentioned that I'm a mess when it comes to finding my bearings, like 'an octopus in a garage' and here's an example of it: I thought I had already taken a complete tour of the place when I turned a corner and there it was: another hall full of stores, with a Marks & Spencer store among them. LOL.




En este centro comercial, encontramos de nuevo alguna de las tiendas que vimos en el Viru Keskus, como la tienda de jabones Stenders. De precio, no me parecieron excesivamente caros, aproximadamente 4,50€ cada jabón. Me hizo gracia un jabón de leche de cabra que tenía forma como de huevo frito. Si os gustan los jabones y los productos de cuidado corporal, tenemos también otra tienda de The Body Shop.
Había una tienda de productos naturales (un herbolario) con un stand de la marca EcoTools. Y como no, marox lo tuvo que "afotar", aunque fuera desde fuera.




At the Rocca al Mare, we have some of the stores that were also present at Viru Keskus, like the soap store Stenders. Pricewise, I didn't find them particularly expensive but within what you would expect to pay in this kind of store, about 4.50 EUR per soap. They had this cute goat milk soap that resembled a fried egg, ;) If you're into soaps and body care, there's another The Body Shop store for you. There was this herbalist's and organic products store with an EcoTools display. And of course, marox had to snap a pic of the shop window, even if it was from the outside.




Si en el Viru teníamos la perfumería Kaubamaja Ilumaailm, aquí tenemos dos más pequeñas pero que también merece la pena visitar: I.L.U. y Ideaal Kosmeetika. La primera es más grande y con una mayor variedad de marcas: Too Faced, L'Oreal, Max Factor, Chanel, ArtDeco, pero también otras menos habituales como The Balm, (con una presentación muy similar a Benefit), Alessandro, Sally Hansen o Collistar, así como marcas nórdicas como Lumene y Make up Store. Junto al stand de Alessandro, tenían una especie de "bar de uñas".

If we had the Kaubamaja Ilumaailm perfumery at Viru, at the Rocca al Mare we have two smaller stores worth a visit: I.L.U. and Ideaal Kosmeetika. The first one is the biggest and offers a wider range of brands: Too Faced, L'Oreal, Max Factor, Chanel or ArtDeco, but also others more hard to find like The Balm (very similar in its packaging to Benefit), Alessandro, Sally Hansen, Make up Store or Collistar, with also room for some nordic brands like Lumene. Next to the Alessandro counter there was some sort of 'nails bar'.




Aunque más pequeñita, Ideaal Kosmeetika también tenía alguna cosa interesante aparte de las habituales marcas de droguería. BeYu, Pupa, Manhattan, Sally Hansen, Make up Factory, Lumene y Rouge Bunny Rouge también tienen allí su espacio.

Though smaller, Ideaal Kosmeetika also had some interesting stuff to offer, besides the usual drugstore brands. BeYu, Pupa, Manhattan, Sally Hansen, Make up Factory, Lumene and Rouge Bunny Rouge were available there.

No estaría de más que entrárais al supermercado Prisma, ya que tiene algunos productos de cosmética y cuidado corporal interesantes. De allí salieron los esmaltes de Wild and Crazy que os enseñé en el post de las compras de Tallin. También tenían Manhattan y alguna cosilla más.

A visit to the Prisma supermarket could be a good idea too, as they had some interesting stuff in the cosmetics and beauty aisle. I bought the Wild and Crazy lacquers I showed you in the Tallinn haul post and they also had Manhattan, among others.

Pero además de comprar potecillos para nosotras hasta en el supermercado, a Molly le compré allí un sobrecito de comidita húmeda de salmón y trucha, que hemos esperado a darle cuando estuviera Marian. El regalito de su tita le ha gustado, jeje. Cuando estuvimos en Berlín le trajimos también comidita para gatos alemana (del DM), que hasta en eso es mejor que la española. La de Estonia es parecida a la de aquí (las albondiguillas son iguales, ya sea de carne o de pescado). La del DM sí que tenía buena pinta, jeje.

But besides getting some make up goodies for us, even from the supermarket, I bought Molly a packet of cat food, the one that comes with gravy. It has salmon and trout and we've waited until Marian came over to give her her present. I think she liked it very much, lol. When we went to Berlin, we also brought her some German cat food (from DM, btw) and it was also better than the one we can get here, in the sense that fish or meat it all looks the same. The German one seemed really good, hehe.

El día "R" / 'R' Day

¿Qué narices es el "día R", os preguntaréis? Pues el día R fue el motivo principal de mi viaje a Tallin, que tuvo lugar el tercer día de mi estancia.

What on earth is 'R day', you're probably wondering? Well, R day was the main reason behind my travelling to Tallinn, on Day 3 of my stay.




Hace unos meses se conocieron las fechas en las que Roxette actuaría en España como parte de su gira mundial e inmediatamente supe que lo iba a tener difícil para verlos. En el mes de noviembre, no me puedo permitir hacer viajes, porque si Dios quiere, estaré trabajando y aunque Madrid no esté muy lejos, el concierto es un viernes y si quieres pillar un sitio medio decente, más vale que estés allí unas cuantas horas antes. El de Barcelona cae en sábado, pero el viaje a Barcelona sí que hay que pensárselo porque no me queda precisamente cerca.
De la carrerita para coger buen sitio en el Sant Jordi, en la que tienes que elegir entre sacrificar la primera fila en favor de conservar tus miembros, tu dentadura y tu crisma intactos, mejor no hablo.

When a few months ago the Roxette world tour dates were made public, I immediately knew it was going to be almost impossible for me to see them play live here in Spain. In November, I cannot travel because, God willing, I'll be working and even if Madrid is not too far, the concert lies on a Friday and if you want to get yourself a decent spot, you'd better be waiting a good few hours before the gates open. The one in Barcelona lies on a Saturday, but travelling to Barcelona is even harder as it's not exactly right next door from here.
As for the race to get yourself a decent spot at the Sant Jordi, with you having to choose between sacrificing the front row in favour of keeping your limbs, teeth and skull intact -no comments.

Así que ni corta ni perezosa empecé a buscar posibles fechas que nos cuadraran: Ingolstadt en Alemania y Weert en Holanda tuvieron bastantes papeletas, especialmente si queríamos ir las dos, Marian y yo. Pero para la primera íbamos muy justas de fechas y la actuación de Weert era parte de un festival (que son más cortas y encima era más caro), por lo que la posibilidad de ir juntas al concierto se esfumaba lentamente.
Llegados a ese punto, no me importaba ir sola, siempre y cuando fuera en una ciudad medianamente grande y que no tuviera que desplazarme dentro del país para ir al concierto. Eso redujo las posibilidades a dos destinos: Göteborg, en Suecia y Tallin en Estonia.




So the race to search for possible dates that suited us began: Ingolstadt in Germany and Weert in The Netherlands were the strongest candidates at first, especially if we wanted to go together, Marian and me. But for the first date we'd make it barely in time and the Weert gig was part of a festival (those are shorter and tickets are more expensive) and therefore our chances of going to the show together were slowly evaporating.
At this point, I decided I wouldn't mind going by myself, as long as the concert was somewhere big so I didn't have to travel within the country to make it to the concert. The shortlisted tour dates were now only two: Göteborg in Sweden and Tallinn in Estonia.

Aunque quizá a alguna os parezca una locura hacerse una pechada de horas y kilómetros para ver un concierto, la verdad es que me apetecía verlos otra vez -la primera fue en el 2001, en la gira del Room Service-. Y lo cierto es que viéndolos como los he visto, sin agobios para llegar a segunda fila, a escasos dos metros del escenario, dudo que vuelva a ir a un concierto que no sea en estas condiciones. Mi amiga irá a verlos a Madrid y ya le he dicho que ni sueñe con verlos como los he visto yo, como una reina: ¡en segunda fila, y sin escenarios con formas raras! -como en Barcelona, que aunque estábamos en segunda fila, con lo alto que pusieron el escenario, te entraba tortícolis para seguirlos.
También se podría decir que he matado dos pájaros de un tiro: ir al concierto y conocer un bonito lugar al que de otro modo quizá nunca habría ido.




As crazy as it may sound to some of you, travelling thousands of kilometres for a concert, the truth is I really felt like watching them play live again -my first was in Barcelona, as part of the Room Service tour in 2001. And having seen them as I have, with no crushing to make it to the second row, barely two meters from the stage, I doubt I'll ever go to a concert unless it's like this. My friend will go to see them live in Madrid and I've already told her to forget about getting to see them as I've seen them, like a queen.
You could also say I've killed two birds with one stone: going to the concert and knowing a lovely place I probably wouldn't have visited otherwise.






Las puertas del Saku Suurhall, estadio deportivo que normalmente acoge los partidos de baloncesto del equipo local y también de hockey, se abrieron a las 6.00 de la tarde y ahí pude comprobar con sorpresa que no haría falta despeñarme escaleras abajo (no las hay) para conseguir un buen sitio. Antes hubo tiempo de localizar a Eva, otra española aunque residente en Alemania y charlar un rato con fans venidos desde Bélgica y Alemania principalmente. Con la apertura de puertas y una vez cogido sitio, digamos que mi orgullo patrio me llevó a ser reconocida por otra española, Carolina, que vive en Tallin con su novio estonio. De hecho ella venía engañada por su novio, sin saber que iba a disfrutar de un concierto de uno de sus grupos favoritos de toda la vida. Con ella a mi lado disfruté del concierto, primeramente de la actuación de Koit Toome, representante de Estonia hace unos años en Eurovisión, y finalmente de los suecos que han hecho bailar a millones de personas con sus canciones más pegadizas y también unido a alguna que otra pareja con sus temas más románticos.

The gates of Saku Suurhall, a venue where the local basketball and hockey team usually play, opened at 6.00 pm and to my surprise, I noticed flabbergasted that this time around I wouldn't have to risk a fall down the stairs (there were none) in order to get myself a good spot. Before the opening time I could spot another Spanish lady, living in Germany though and chat a bit with the other fans, some also from other parts of the world like Germany or Belgium. Once the gates opened, let's say my national pride granted me some recognition from Carolina, a fellow Spaniard, living in Tallinn with her Estonian boyfriend. She had actually been fooled into going to the concert by him and had no idea she would be seeing one of her all-time favourite bands perform that night. I spent the rest of the evening in their company, first watching the opening singer Koit Toome, a former Eurovision contestant for Estonia and finally that of the Swedes, responsible of having made millions of people dance with their up-tempo hits but also played matchmakers for a few others with their ballads.

Fueron dos horas muy intensas de concierto, en los que en algunos momentos me resultó de lo más complicado grabar video, hacer fotos, cantar y gritar a la vez, jeje. El que no me estuvieran empujando las 8.999 personas que tenía detrás me facilitó las cosas, la verdad.





It was a pretty intense 2-hour-long concert, and at times it was a struggle to film, take photos, sign along and shout all at the same time, hehe. Not having the 8,999 folks standing behind me pushing me to the point of making a sandwich of me definitely made things easier.

Musicalmente hablando, hubo temas cañeros como 'Dangerous', '7Twenty7', 'Opportunity Nox' o 'She's got nothing on (but the Radio)' que fueron un éxito total y nos tuvieron saltando y gritando como locos. Me encanta que los temas de los últimos discos funcionen así de bien en directo, porque personalmente me fastidia soberanamente la ignorancia musical que existe con ellos, ya que a mucha gente si le preguntas por Roxette, no saben nombrar más que 'The Look' o 'Joyride', que aunque están bien, os aseguro que a los fans probablemente no serían las primeras que nos vendrían a la cabeza.





Musically speaking, there were several up-tempo hits like 'Dangerous', '7Twenty7', 'Opportunity Nox' or 'She's got nothing on (but the Radio)' which were a complete success with the crowd and had us jumping up and down like crazy. I love that their latest hits work so well live, because I can't help but be sad and annoyed at the same time when people can only name 'The Look' or 'Joyride' when asked about Roxette. These are all great, but not definitely the tracks a fan would come up with if pressed for an answer.





Me emocionaron especialmente 'Silver Blue', tema para el que *solo* hemos tenido que esperar más de 20 años para escuchar en directo -a eso se le llama paciencia-. Casi lloré cuando vi el video en YouTube de la primera? vez que lo tocaron en directo (en el Leif's Lounge). Espero que no se caiga jamás de la lista de temas en concierto, porque os aseguro que con esa canción y la delicadeza con la que la interpreta Marie, se os pondrán 'los pelos como escarpias'.
Si en la gira del 'Room Service' del 2001 me dejaron sin palabras con la versión de 'Spending my Time/Fading like a flower' que se sacaron de la manga a lo largo de la gira (y la actuación en el Palau Sant Jordi de Barcelona no fue una excepción) el equivalente para mí en esta gira ha sido 'Silver Blue'.





I was really touched by 'Silver Blue', a song we have *only* had to wait more than 20 years to hear played live -talk about patience!. I almost cried when I saw the video on You Tube from the first? time they played it live (@Leif's Lounge). I hope they never drop this from the concerts' playlist, because I let me tell you this song and Marie's beautiful rendition of it will make your hairs 'stand on end'.
If they left me totally speechless in the 'Room Service' tour in 2001 with the 'Spending my Time/Fading like a Flower' version they came up their sleeve throughout the tour (and the concert at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona was no exception), the equivalent to me from this tour was 'Silver Blue'.





Mi adorada 'Wish I Could Fly' igualmente no defraudó, es de esos temas que no sabes si te gusta más la versión del disco o en directo. Creo que el récord de escucha seguida con WICF lo tengo en cinco veces.
'Watercolours in the rain' y 'Church of your heart' también magníficas, con toda la banda junta, como la familia que son.
¿Podría haber sido mejor? Sí, yo habría quitado algún que otro clásico en favor de alguno de los nuevos temas, como.... 'Speak to me' (en lugar de la nueva 'Only when I dream'). Por Dios, que la toquen aunque sea en un concierto de la gira, porque NECESITOOO, me muero de ganas de saber cómo suena en directo. Y me refiero a en esta gira, no dentro de otros 20 años, Herr Gessle.

My beloved 'Wish I Could Fly' did not disappoint either, it's one of those tracks you don't know which version you prefer, the album or live. I think I hold the record for non-stop playing of WICF with 5x.
'Watercolours in the rain' and 'Church of your heart' were awesome too, with all the band together, like the big family they are.
Could it have been better? Yes, I would have skipped some classics in favour of some of the new songs like... 'Speak to me' (instead ot the new song 'Only when I dream'), For God's sake, let them play that on this tour at least once, I NEED to hear what they make of it live. And I mean on this tour, not in another 20 years, Herr Gessle!!





Y aquí os dejo otras reflexiones:

-Se echaba de menos ver a Marie pegándose carreras de un lado a otro del escenario. El haberse quedado ciega de un ojo tras un tumor cerebral ha tenido mucho que ver: ha perdido la visión tridimensional, por lo que andar correteando de un lado a otro entre cables y demás quizá no sería buena idea. Pero no os preocupéis, que aunque haya perdido esa energía 'puro nervio' que tenía sobre el escenario, de voz, como siempre, sigue impresionante.
-A Marie se le ha ido siempre un montón la letra. Ahora evidentemente, mucho más, aunque según algunos fans que les vieron en directo hace cosa de dos meses, ha mejorado bastante. . Por lo que estoy leyendo, el concierto de Göteborg ha debido ser acojonante (como siempre, no sé qué tiene ese sitio).
-Los kilos que han ganado algunos miembros de la banda a lo largo de los años (Pelle Alsing, Jonas Isacsson -RS Tour, etc) no los han cogido perdido Per y Marie. Dudo que hayan ganado medio kilo desde la última vez que les tuve delante, hace casi diez años.
-Helena Josefsson me recuerda un montón a la corista de la gira del 'Joyride', Vicky Benckert, aunque yo diría que anima mucho más. No sé que desayunará esa mujer, pero habrá que enterarse.
-La púa de Per cayó justo a mi lado (le hice una foto a la afortunada que la cogió). Cachis, podría haber sido yo. Me pregunto a quién le tocaría la toalla sudada de Per.
-No tocaron 'Way Out' en el segundo Bis, ya que según explicó luego Per, hacía tantísimo calor (yo y mi abanico damos fé) que se ahogaban.
-El concierto se me hizo corto, jeje. Tenían que haber seguido tocando una horita más. Total, si al salir del Saku, a las once de la noche ¡todavía era de día!. Como la noche era joven, me fui de tapas por Tallin con Carolina y su chico, que durante la actuación de Koit Toome, nos iba chivando cuánto faltaba, ya que nos traducía lo que éste iba diciendo. Y al llegar al hotel, una duchita y a estrenar el esmalte de Wild and Crazy. Yo sí que estoy 'crazy', jeje.





Other random thoughts:

-It felt kinda strange not having Marie running up and down the stage. Her brain tumour and subsequent surgery left her blind on one eye and as as a result she no longer has three-dimensional vision and therefore all that running between cables and the like may not be such a great idea. She may have lost her energy on stage, but don't be fool, her voice is still in top form.
-Marie has traditionally got her lyrics all mixed up, changing words and so on. Now even more so, but according to some fans there who've seen them in concert two months earlier, she's a lot better now. From the latest reports I'm reading, the Göteborg show has been an absolute bomb (don't know what it is about that place, they always deliver some of their best shows there).
-The weight gain experienced by some current and former members of the band (Pelle Alsing, Jonas Isacsson -RS Tour) has not affected neither Per nor Marie. I doubt they've even gained half a kilo since the last time I saw them, almost ten years ago.
-Helena Josefsson, backing vocalist in this tour, reminds me a lot of good old Vicky Benckert, but she's even more energetic. I don't know what this lady has for breakfast, but it might be worth finding out.
-Per's plectrum fell right beside me (I even took a pic of the lucky gal). Blimey, it could have been me. I wonder who got Per's sweaty towel, lol.
-They didn't play 'Way Out' in the second encore. Per revealed on a later interview that it was so hot (yes, trust me & my fan, it WAS very hot indeed) they were suffocating.
-The concert went really quickly, lol. They should have played for three hours. After all when we left Saku at 11pm, it was still light outside!! As the night was young, I went for some tapas with Carolina and her boyfriend who had earlier kept us well informed of Koit Toome's remaining time on stage, translating for us, ;)
And when I got back to my hotel, I took a quick shower and did my nails with the Wild and Crazy polish. I am crazy, lol.

Mis compras en Tallin / My Tallinn Haul

Bueno, pues por fin os enseño las cositas que compré en Tallinn. Lo único que faltaría serían un par de libros (tres, para no mentir).
Como comenté en la entrada anterior, el grueso de las compras las hice en la perfumería Kaubamaja Ilumaailm del C.C. Viru Keskus, del que ya os hablé.
Como véis, aproveché el plástico de embalar la maleta y hasta las pegatinas para envolver las compras que fui haciendo.
A la vuelta, me la envolví yo, como os enseñamos en este post.




Well, finally I'm showing you what I bought in Tallinn. The only things missing would be a couple of books (well, three to be honest). As I mentioned in my previous post, most of my haul came from the Kaubamaja Ilumaailm perfumery within the Viru Keskus shopping centre that I mentioned there. As you can see, I recycled the plastic from wrapping my luggage, and even the airline sticker, lol. Anything to protect our purchases. For my return flights, I did the wrapping myself, as we shared with you in this post.

Principalmente, aproveché para comprar cositas de marcas que no podemos encontrar en España, como Gosh y Depend. En la primera foto, tenéis también unos jabones de 200 gr de la marca "Aromas Artesanales de Antigua", uno para mí y otro para Marian (siempre le doy a escoger, así que me quedaré con el otro y como los dos los escogí yo, pues seguro que me encanta). El precio: 5€ cada jabón, que me pareció muy bien.
Nos gustan mucho los jabones en pastilla y prácticamente son los que utilizamos todo el tiempo. En los viajes, siempre cae alguno. A veces nos damos algún caprichín y otras veces compramos alguno básico y baratito (algunas marcas que compramos en España, tienen muchísima más variedad en otros países. De Palmolive en Tallin, había como una fila entera y con olores de lo más variado).
Lo cierto es que tenemos unos cuantos pendientes de estreno, así que si estáis esperando nuestra opinión, os aviso que tardará.

I mainly took the chance to buy stuff from brands that are not available here, such as Gosh and Depend. In the first pic, there's also two bars of soap, 200 gr each, from the brand "Aromas Artesanales de Antigua", one for myself and one for my sister (I always let her choose, so I'll keep the one she doesn't want and as I picked both myself, I'm sure I'll like it). These were 5 EUR each, which I think is a pretty good deal. We like beauty bars very much and we've been using those for some time now most of the time. We like to get some from our travels, sometimes we splurge a bit but also get some cheapo ones (some brands available here in Spain like Palmolive offer a wider range in other countries. They had like an entire row of them in Tallinn, with lots of scents to choose from. The truth is we have quite a few waiting to be used, so if you're expecting a review I'm warning you that may take some time.




En esta primera foto, también podéis ver dos esmaltes mini de Manhattan, que creo eran de EL. El precio fue de 2,40 € cada uno. Había una caja enorme con minis de Colorama (en España los venden también, pero lo más que he visto habrá sido como cinco tonos). Me costó sólo 1,90 €.
Y... ¡tachán!... el famoso 'Fix Base' de la marca Gosh, que parece ser que ayuda a aplicar mejor los esmaltes holográficos. Lo ideal habría sido hacerme con el esmalte holográfico de Gosh, pero no lo tenían. Fue lo más caro de todo lo que compré, a 6,70€.

In this first pic, you can see two Manhattan mini polishes too. I think these were LE items and were €2.40 each. They also had this huge plexiglas box filled to the brim with Colorama minis (we have those in Spain too, but I've probably just seen like five different colours here) It was just 1.90 EUR. And ta... da!... the famous 'Fix Base' from Gosh, which apparently makes the application of holo polishes easier. I would have liked to get 'Gosh Holographic' too, but unfortunately they didn't have it. It was the most expensive item from everything I got, at € 6.70.

En la siguiente foto, el resto de las compras de la perfumería Kaubamaja Ilumaailm. En mi post anterior, os comentaba que de la marca sueca Depend, tan sólo tenían los cracklings. Los había en tropecientos mil colores y los que véis fueron los que compré, algunos por duplicado. No los he probado aún, porque de los tonos que sólo véis uno, de nuevo, nos los repartiremos entre Marian y yo.
Antes del viaje, estuve mirando las marcas que podría encontrar y tenía entendido que estos de Depend eran más caros. Por eso, cuando los ví a 1,50€ cada uno, no los podía dejar ahí.
Los ví también en un supermercado y creo que estaban a 1,95€.
Nota para La Loca de los Esmaltes: Supongo que ya no me podré quejar de no tener esmaltes de craquelado de colorines, jeje.




Meet the rest of purchases from the Kaubamaja Ilumaailm perfumery in the next picture. In my latest post, I mentioned that the only stuff they had from the Swedish brand Depend was the crackle polishes. But there was like a gazillion colours of that and the ones you see came home with me, some of them in twos. I haven't tried those yet, because again we'll share those two between Marian and me. Before my trip, I did some searching about the brands I might find there and I understood these were more expensive, so when I found these at only 1.50 EUR each, I just didn't have the heart to leave them there!
Note for La Loca de Los Esmaltes: I guess I can't complain anymore about not having coloured crackles, lol.

Y por último, el tercer día, en el supermercado "Prisma" del C.C. Rocca al Mare del que os hablaré en la segunda parte de 'De compras por Tallin' y cotilleando, cotilleando, llegué hasta la sección de droguería. Creo recordar que tenían un stand de Manhattan y de alguna marca más. Pero lo que me llamó la atención fue un pequeño stand de esmaltes de uñas (junto a los cracklings de Depend) de una marca desconocida para mí, Wild and Crazy, al módico precio de 1,43€. Es el tono 'W89 Amnesia' y en las fotos, mi pequeña supercámara ha clavado el color. Sospecho que, al menos uno de ellos, estaba chuacheado pero no he tenido problema para pintarme las uñas con él, el mismo día de comprarlo. No hice foto, porque estaba agotada y luego lo fui dejando y al final se me pasó. Es un color verdaderamente bonito y los esmaltes son bastante grandecitos (15ml).
Caí con otro par de jabones, estos de chocolate y "baratos, baratos". Por 0,35€ no me iba a ir sin probarlos. La marca pertenece al grupo Procter & Gamble, así que supongo que quizá los haya en otros sitios.




And finally, on Day 3, at the 'Prisma' supermarket inside the Rocca al Mare Mall I'll mention in more detail in the second installment of my 'Tallinn Shopping Guide' I sneaked into, I bought a few more goodies from the beauty products aisle. I seem to recall they had a Manhattan display and a few others. But the thing that caught my eye was a small nail polish display (next to the Depend crackles) that were dirt cheap. For as little as 1.43 EUR each, I brought two polishes from Wild and Crazy, a brand unknown to me until now. It's shade 'W89 Amnesia' and my camera got it colour accurate like a champ. I suspect that at least one of the bottles had been opened for swatching, but I didn't have any problems formula-wise. Yes, I HAD to use it that very same night when I went back to my hotel. Unfortunately I was exhausted and didn't take any pics of my mani then and was putting it off but eventually I forgot to. It's a truly gorgeous colour and the bottles are quite big (15ml).
I gave in to temptation and got two more soaps, this time chocolate-scented and cheap, dirt cheap. I couldn't not buy them, these were just 0.35 EUR each!! The brand belongs to the Procter & Gamble group, so I guess these will be available in other places as well.

Salander, mi búsqueda de un protector solar de tamaño moderado ha terminado. En mi segunda visita a este supermercado, encontré éste de Hawaiian Tropic, que trae 100 ml. Me sorprende que sea tan sólo un factor 15 siendo por esos lares la mayoría de la gente de piel muy clarita. Aunque normalmente uso un factor 50, para una exposición solar moderada, me servirá.
En tu blog has enseñado otro de esta marca. El mío también huele a coco -olor que aborrezco por encima de todos, pero no es demasiado fuerte o penetrante y se va pronto.
No conservo ese ticket, pero creo que rondó los 3€.

Salander, my search for a small-sized body sunscreen is over. In my second visit to this supermarket, I found this from Hawaiian Tropic that has 100ml. I'm surprised this is only SPF15, being Estonians light-skinned people. I usually go for a SPF50, but for a short exposure, this will do the job. In your blog you showed another one from HT. Mine is coconut scented too, and I hate the smell of coconut above any other, but it's not too strong and is bearable, as if quicky fades away. I didn't keep that receipt, but seem to recall it was around €3.

Hotel Shnelli Go -Tallinn (1)

Cuando reservé mi viaje a Tallin en mi agencia de viajes, me ofrecieron varias posibilidades de alojamiento. Siempre que puedo, me gusta conocer la valoración de los usuarios de los distintos hoteles, por lo que suelo visitar páginas especializadas en viajes como booking, tripadvisor o logitravel.
El Hotel Shnelli Go estaba entre las opciones más económicas y cumplía con un requisito que para mí era muy importante: quería que el hotel estuviera bien comunicado.

When I booked my holidays in Tallinn at my local travel agent's I was offered several accomodation options. I always try to look them up and read the feedback provided by guests staying at them, so I usually visit travel sites such as booking, tripadvisor or logitravel.
The Shnelli Go Hotel was amongst the cheapest alternatives and fulfilled a very important condition imo: I wanted the hotel to be centrally located and with easy access to public transport.

Efectivamente, el hotel es muy céntrico, está a un paso de la Ciudad Vieja (al salir del hotel, cruzad el semáforo y continuad a la izquierda, llegaréis a un pequeño cruce con un 'Kiosk'. Estáis en la calle Nunne y estáis entrando en la Ciudad Vieja).




The hotel is indeed quite centrally located, it's a short walk to the Old Town (when you leave the hotel building, cross the street at the traffic lights and then go left. You'll reach a small crossing with a 'Kiosk'. You're on Nunne street and entering the Old Town).

El hotel cuenta con 124 habitaciones de dos tipos, dependiendo de las vistas que ofrezcan: bien a la Ciudad Vieja, bien a la estación de tren (Balti jaam - Central Railway Station). En las opiniones que había leído del hotel, los usuarios recomendaban pedir habitaciones con vistas a Old Town, puesto que aparte de las vistas, eran más silenciosas. Pero se me olvidó comentarlo al hacer el registro en el hotel y me asignaron una con vistas a la estación (y como está tan cerca, tienes las vías justo debajo).
Yo viajaba sola y mi reserva era para una habitación doble de uso individual (DUI), en concreto me alojé en la 216.

The hotel has 124 rooms of two kinds, depending on the views they offer: either facing the Old Town or the train station (Balti jaam - Central Railway Station). In the feedback left by former guests, users recommended asking for one facing Old Town as, apart from the views, they were less noisy. But, I forgot to mentioned it as I was checking in and was given one facing the train tracks.
I was travelling alone and therefore my booking was for a double room to be used as a single. I stayed in room 216.

Antes de hablar más en detalle sobre la habitación, os comento que la "llave" es una tarjeta electrónica, que nos servirá para abrir la puerta de nuestra habitación, pero a diferencia de otros hoteles con este sistema en los que me he alojado, el suministro eléctrico es independiente, lo que para mí es un punto a su favor. Me refiero a que en otros hoteles, en cuanto sacas la llave del lector, no tienes luz (y no puedes dejar cargando el teléfono móvil mientras bajas a desayunar, por ejemplo).
Asimismo, la llave nos servirá para acceder a varias zonas del hotel: utilizar los ascensores, acceder al restaurante / sala de desayunos. Me parece que es un sistema muy seguro, que garantiza que tan sólo los huéspedes o el personal del hotel, puedan acceder a ellas.
Y como soy un poco manazas, me costó un poco pillarle el punto, y a veces necesitaba un par de intentos hasta que la lucecita se ponía en verde, jeje.




Before I go into details about the room itself, I'd like to mention the fact that the room 'key' is a card with a magnetic band that we'll have to use to open the door to our room, but unlike other hotels with similar systems I've stayed in, it's independent from the power supply, which is a big plus for me. What I mean is that in other hotels, you have no electricity once you take out the key card (and can't leave your mobile charging up while you go down for breakfast, for instance).
In addition, the key will give us access to several facilities within the hotel: use the lifts, get to the restaurant / breakfast room. I think it's a very safe system, in the sense that no one except for guests or the hotel staff can get access to them.
As I'm a bit clumsy, it took me a while to get the hang of it and usually needed a couple of tries until the light flashed green, lol.

El hotel dispone de otros servicios como un spa y una agencia de viajes, que no utilicé.
The hotel provides other services such as a spa or a travel agents', which I didn't use.




Evidentemente, sí que utilicé la sala de desayunos, tanto para desayunar todos los días como algún día para comer y cenar.
El comedor era bastante espacioso y aunque por las mañanas se juntaba mucha gente, sí que pude conseguir una mesa para mí.




What I did use was the breakfast room, obviously, both every day for breakfast and a couple of times for lunch and dinner.
The room was quite spacious and though there was a lot of us every morning for breakfast, I could always find a table for me to use.

El servicio de desayunos, funciona todos los días, pero el de restaurante cierra los domingos. El horario de apertura del Restaurant Travel de lunes a jueves es de 12 a 21, de 12 a 22 los viernes y sábados y como digo, los domingos cierra.
Comí y cené allí el primer día. La comida me pareció muy abundante, quizá demasiado. En el siguiente enlace, podéis ver el menú que ofrece. Yo probé el salmón con salsa de piña, acompañado de risotto y de brócoli y también la tortilla al horno (eran tortillas de tipo mejicano), rellena de filete de pollo, verduras (calabacín, pimiento, aceitunas y tomate) y queso azul.




Breakfast is available everyday. Restaurant Travel is open Mon-Thu 12:00-21:00, Fri-Sat 12:00-22:00, Sun closed.
I had lunch and dinner there the first day. I thought the servings were quite generous, maybe too generous. If you visit the following link, you can see the menu available. I tried the salmon 'Glazed salmon fillet with pineapple sauce served with butternut pumpkin risotto and baked broccoli' and also the 'Oven-baked tortilla with chicken fillet, vegetable and blue cheese stuffing -zucchini, paprika, olives, tomato'. It was Mexican-style tortillas.

En cuanto al desayuno, es de tipo buffet y me pareció correcto. Si bien para los españoles, que no gustamos de tomar salchichas, huevos y cosas así a esas horas, la oferta era algo escasa. Si acostumbráis a desayunar algo dulce, no hay más donde elegir que dos tipos de mermelada, macedonia de fruta y zumos. Hay leche y café -también podías preparte una infusión- y únicamente cereales tipo cornflakes. Como otras veces que he viajado al extranjero, he echado de menos que hubiera fruta fresca y también yogur. Aunque no tan saludable como lo anterior, me hubiera gustado que hubiera algo de bollería.
Pan sólo había de dos tipos, los dos de rebanada: pan tipo Bimbo y de centeno.





As for breakfast, it's the usual buffet service and I thought it was OK. Even so, the choices for Spaniards -not very fond of having things like sausages or eggs first thing in the morning- were somewhat limited. If you like a sweet breakfast, as is my case, there's not a lot to choose from but two different marmalade flavours, fruit salad and juices. There is milk and coffee -you could also make yourself a cup of tea- and cereals, but only of the corn-flakes sort. As other times I've stayed abroad, I've missed not having fresh fruit or yoghurt. Of the not-so-healthy type, I would have liked to have pastries of some sort.
There was only two types of bread, both in loaves, either white sandwich-type bread and rye bread.

Con todo, creo que sería raro no encontrar algo que os guste para desayunar en el buffet del hotel Shnelli Go. En la foto, podéis ver lo que desayuné yo todos los días. Como digo, aunque correcto, se me hizo algo repetitivo. Curiosamente, en casa suelo desayunar siempre lo mismo (menos cosas), pero cuando viajo me gusta ir probando todos los días algo distinto o al menos dentro de lo que me gusta -lo de las salchichas a esas horas, como que no.

All in all, I think it would be hard not to find anything you like for breakfast at the Shnelli Go Hotel. In the picture, you can see what my breakfast consisted of every day. Like I said, though correct, I found it a little repetitive. Strangely enough, when I'm at home I usually have the same breakfast everyday (less stuff than in the pic), but when I travel I like to try different things everyday or at least between the things I like -sausages first thing in the morning, thanks but no thanks...)

Resumiendo, en mi opinión, para el precio que tiene, el Hotel Shnelli Go está muy bien. Como todo, algunos aspectos son mejorables. Dedicaré otra entrada a la habitación en sí, pues esta la he orientado más a las instalaciones comunes. En un comentario, me preguntábais qué tal estaba el hotel, así que espero que esta primera parte os haya resultado útil. ;)
A título informativo, os diré que el viaje completo (vuelo CSA con escala en Praga + alojamiento AD en el Hotel Shnelli de Tallin durante cuatro noches) me salió por 575€, más barato que el otro destino que tenía en mente, Göteborg (Suecia). La opción de alojamiento más barata de Suecia, era más cara que la más cara de Tallinn. De la más cara de Göteborg, prefiero no acordarme.

To sum up, imo, for the price you can't really ask Hotel Shnelli Go for more. As with anything, there's ground for improvement. I'll write another entry dealing with the hotel room, as this one ended up focusing on the shared facilities. In a comment, you asked where I'd stayed and if I'd recommend it, so I hope you found this Part 1 useful. ;)
For information purposes, let me tell you that I paid 575 EUR for the entire trip (flight with CSA with change of planes in Prague + lodging at Shnelli Go Hotel in Tallinn for four nights), cheaper than my other alternative, Göteborg, Sweden. The cheapest accomodation there was more expensive than Tallinn's most expensive. I don't even want to recall how much Göteborg's most expensive was.

De compras por Tallin (Parte 1) / Tallinn Shopping Guide (Part 1)

En la capital de Estonia, podemos encontrar muchas de las tiendas que tenemos habitualmente en la mayoría de ciudades españolas (del grupo Inditex, Mango, H&M) y también otras exclusivas de Escandinavia, como por ejemplo Stockmann o Seppälä.
Lo cierto es que Estonia no me ha parecido un país caro, aunque evidentemente tampoco me suelo fijar en las tiendas caras de diseñador ni comer en restaurantes de tres estrellas Michelin.

Estonia's capital has many of the stores we're used to having in Spain (those from the Inditex group, Mango, H&M) as well as others exclusive to Scandinavia, as is the case of Stockmann or Seppälä for instance.
The truth is I didn't find Estonia a particularly expensive place to shop, though obviously I'm not one heading for upmarket, designer stores nor 3-Michelin-star restaurants.

Como os comentaba en las entradas de la guía de viaje, visité tres centros comerciales en Tallinn, de los que os voy a hablar a continuación.
Curiosamente, no he visto casi ninguna tienda fuera de los centros comerciales, salvo alguna pequeña tienda de ropa en la Ciudad Vieja, pero poca cosa, por lo que si estáis pensando en ir de compras allí, yo me iría directamente a algún centro comercial.

As I mentioned in my Tallinn Travel Guide posts, I visited three shopping centres in Tallinn which I'll review now. Strangely enough, I have seen almost no stores outside these shopping centres, except for a couple of small clothing shops in the Old Town, but not many really, so if you'd like to do some shopping there, I'd head straight away for some shopping centre or other.

Justo pegando al Old Town y por lo tanto, muy céntrico, tenemos el Viru Keskus, un gran centro comercial. Allí podemos encontrar un montón de tiendas de todo tipo, así como restaurantes y algunos puestecillos.
Como viajaba yo sola, no me atreví a hacer fotos así "de estrangis", mis famosas spy-cams, pero sí que he hecho de algunos escaparates. También tomé nota de las distintas marcas que podemos encontrar allí, especialmente en las perfumerías, ;) En Kaubamaja pedí permiso para hacer fotos de algún mueble y me dijeron que no.





Right outside the Old Town and therefore quite centrally located, we have Viru Keskus, a big shopping centre. There are lots of different stores inside, as well as restaurants and some stalls. Since I was travelling by myself, I didn't dare to take any undercover or 'spy-cam' pictures, but I did take photos of the outside of some of the stores. I also wrote down the different brands available there, especially as far as drugstores/perfumeries are concerned. I did ask permission to take some pics of the counters at Kaubamaja when I was at the checkout but they said no.

En el Viru tenemos tiendas como Accesorize, Zara, Guess, Mango, Vero Moda y conocí una nueva cadena de bisutería y complementos: Expressions, que tenía cosas muy monas. Creo que es de Estonia porque todas las tiendas que aparecen en el buscador de la página están en Estonia, aunque no estoy segura.
Su página no tiene gran cosa, pero compré una revista en la que vienen varias páginas con productos de esta tienda, así que las he escaneado para ilustrar más el post (como si no subiera siempre un montón de fotos, jeje).
Tenía entendido que las tiendas de Accesorize de Estonia vendían la gama de cosméticos, pero no fue el caso de las dos tiendas de esta cadena que visité en Tallin.




At Viru we can find international stores like Accesorize, Zara, Guess, Mango and Vero Moda and I was also introduced to a new jewelry/accesories store, Expressions, which had some really cute stuff. I think it's a local Estonian chainstore as the store locator only lists stores in Estonia, but I'm not sure. Their corporate website is no big deal, so I've scanned the pages from a magazine I bought at the airport, for illustration purposes (as if I didn't do enough picture spam already, lol). I understood the Accesorize stores in Estonia sold cosmetics but it was not the case of the two stores I went to in Tallinn.




En cuanto a cosméticos y belleza, podemos encontrar varias tiendas desconocidas por estos lares, como Stenders de jabones naturales y la perfumería Kaubamaja (la sección de perfumería de El Corte Inglés me pareció una birria al lado de esta tienda, especialmente porque no sólo tiene una amplia oferta de marcas de alta cosmética, sino también de otras más accesibles).
En el Virus Keskus también encontramos otras más conocidas como The Body Shop o L'Occitane.
Kaubamaja tiene unos grandes almacenes justo al otro lado del Viru Keskus, que no visité. Del Kaubamaja que hablo es únicamente la perfumería Kaubamaja Ilumaailm.
En esta perfumería hice la mayoría de las compras. Encontramos stands de marcas muy extendidas por todo el mundo como L'Oreal, Maybelline o Bourjois y otras no tanto, como las alemanas Manhattan o ArtDeco, Gosh, Make up Factory además de otras marcas nórdicas como Lumene o las suecas Isadora y Depend (sólo los cracklings) y dentro de la cosmética más exclusiva, aparte de las habituales, tenían incluso Armani.

As for beauty stores, we can find several stores unknown to many of us such as Stenders -natural products, mainly soaps- and the perfumery Kaubamaja (the cosmetics section at ECI seemed ridiculously tiny and boring in comparison, as it does not only offer a huge range of high-end brands but also some lower-priced options). There are other popular beauty stores at Viru Keskus like The Body Shop or L'Occitane. There's another Kaubamaja on the other side of the street, outside Viru Keskus, a department store which I didn't visit and therefore the Kaubamaja I'll be mentioning in this post is the Kaubamaja Ilumaailm perfumery inside VK. This is the place I bought most of the stuff. You'll find displays from some widespread brands like L'Oreal, Maybelline or Bourjois and from others not so widespread as the German Manhattan and ArtDeco, Gosh or Make up Factory, as well as some popular nordic brands like Lumene and the Swedish Isadora and Depend (just the crackle polishes, though).


Incluso tenían cosas sueltas (en una especie de peceras) de marcas como BYS -barras y brillos de labios-, de Copines (dúos de sombras) o de la línea PURE de Carlo di Roma (perfiladores), que aunque es española yo jamás en la vida la había tenido enfrente.
Para las aficionadas a pintaros las uñas, un gran stand de OPI (10,30€ cada esmalte, creo) y otro de Essie (8€), así como de la marca alemana Alessandro. Tenían varias ediciones limitadas de Alessandro. Estuve a punto de traerme algún kit de esmalte magnético+imán y ahora lamento no haber cogido ninguno.



They had some spare stuff from assorted brands (inside fish-bowls) like some BYS products (lipsticks and lipglosses), Copines (eyeshadow duos) or the higher-end line from the Spanish Carlo di Roma, PURE (it may be Spanish, but I'd never seen that before face to face -they had some eyeliners and eye pencils from Pure).
For nailpolish lovers, there's a big OPI display awaiting you (10.30 EUR a piece, I think) and another one from Essie (8 EUR), as well as a counter from the German brand Alessandro. They also had some Alessandro LEs. I almost got the star magnetic nail polish + magnet kit and now I regret I didn't.

Entre los puestecillos que comentaba de la primera planta, había uno de Konad. Tenían las placas a 5€, aunque no me llamó especialmente la atención ninguna y tras mucho mirar, me vine de vacío.
Un detalle que me ha gustado mucho de las tiendas en Estonia es que las dependientas no están encima de ti ni te preguntan qué quieres, lo que para mí es estupendo porque de lo contrario "me cortan el rollo". Eso sí, no me dieron ninguna muestra con mi compra.




If you remember the stalls on the ground floor I mentioned, there was one from Konad that sold image plates for 5 EUR. After a long time in front of the stall, I came back empty-handed as none of the plates really caught my eye. There was something I really liked about Estonian shops or shop assistants more like. Unlike in Spain, they don't come onto you, asking what you want and let you visit the store. I find nosy shop assistants quite off-putting, really. I didn't get any samples, though.

Y para algunas, imagino que esta tienda será lo más.
And for some, this store must be be like heaven on earth.
