Mis Regalos de cumpleaños / My birthday presents

Hola chicas

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros los regalos que recibí y alguno que compré yo con motivo de mi cumpleaños, que celebré a finales de abril.

1- Zapatos de tacón, tienda local: Mis padres me regalaron estos zapatos de tacón alto para que de vez en cuando me arregle algo más. En el día a día tiro de prendas y calzado cómodo. Por si en la foto no se aprecia bien, son marrones.

2- Pantalón de Custo: En marzo hubo en Zamora una feria del stock, tipo Outlet. En uno de los puestos tenían muchas prendas de marcas como Guess, Desigual o Custo. Estos pantalones se quedaban a 20€. Vamos, un regalo.

En la misma feria, en otro puesto, me cogí esta camiseta de Desigual, por 15€. Es de la talla S y mi madre me tuvo que arreglar un poco la parte de abajo. Le regalé otra a nuestra madre y a Marian.

3-  Abrigo corto de piel: Creo que es de vaca, pero no lo sé seguro. Lo compraron en la peletería de unos amigos, que cerró. No pesa nada, algo de agradecer en cualquier prenda de abrigo.  Tiene un acabado como envejecido muy bonito.

Y ahora los regalos de Marian.

4 -  Reproductor mp3 de marca SelecLine (Alcampo): El reproductor mp3 que compré en Ebay hace unos meses no me ha durado nada, así que le sugerí a Marian que uno nuevo no me vendría mal. No soy partidaria de gastar mucho en estos cacharritos, puesto que los uso una o dos veces por semana.
Los auriculares son de un teléfono Nokia. 

5 - Soporte refrigerado para portátil: Mi portátil en verano se calienta hasta tal punto tras un par de horas de uso que se apaga sólo. Me hablaron de estas bases refrigeradas y Marian se ofreció a regalármela. Me gustaron más las que tenían en Amazon que las de Mediamarkt. Es de la marca Aukey, que ya conozco del altavoz externo que uso para clase. Estoy muy contenta con él, no hace nada de ruido y se nota más fresco el equipo.
Lo suelen tener como oferta flash, y aunque no es un producto caro, os podéis ahorrar unos eurillos. Por cierto, me acabo de pedir otra. 

Y como autorregalo de última hora, unas semanas después me pillé el último disco de Per Gessle, así como la caja de 10 discos 'Per Gessle Archives', que en CDON estaba tirada de precio.  Para que os hagáis una idea, en CDON la pillé a 36,95€ y en Amazon la tenían a... 149,49€. El envío son 4.95€ por pedido.
Le tenía echado el ojo desde hace tiempo, que costaba unos 100 euros cuando salió, pero obviamente el precio me echaba para atrás. Además de los 10 cds y el vinilo, tiene también un libro con fotos y comentarios de Per y Mats MP Persson.
Como véis, el disco viene además firmado. La caja contiene un vinilo, de ahí el tamaño.
El disco de Per se grabó en Nashville y tiene el estilo intimista de anteriores trabajos en sueco como 'Scener' o 'Mazarin', mi favorito.
No tiene nada que ver con lo que saca en inglés.

Today I'd like to show you the presents I got and also bought myself for my birthday, late in April.


1 - High heels, local shoe shop: My parents bought me these heels. My mum wants me to dress up for work a bit more, though my go-to shoes every day are really comfy ones. In case the picture colours are all wrong, they're brown.

2 - Custo BCN pants: There was an outlet event in town back in March. One of the stores had lots of designer brands like Guess, Desigual or Custo. These pants were marked down to just €20, a total steal.

At the same event, I got this Desigual Tee for just €15. It's a size S, so my mum had to adjust the bottom part a bit. I gave both my mum and Marian one too.

3- Short leather coat: I think it's calf leather or something. They got it from a friend's fur shop that had closed down a while ago. It's very lightweight, which is certainly an upside when it comes to winter coats. It has this distressed look to it that looks really nice.

And now, onto the presents I got from Marian.

4 - Mp3 player from SelecLine (Alcampo's house brand): The one I bought on Ebay a few months ago stopped working recently and I suggested Marian she could get me a new one. I'm not one to spend much on these devices, as I only use them a couple of times a week.  The earphones pictured are from an old Nokia phone.

5 - Laptop Cooling Pad: My laptop gets so hot in the summer after barely two hours of use that it shuts off on its own. I was advised to try these pads and Marian offered to be the one to get it for me. I liked the ones available at Amazon better than those at Mediamarkt., though. I wan't new to the brand Aukey, as it's the same manufacturer of my external bluetooth speaker that I use in class.
I'm very pleased with it. It is really quiet and can tell my laptop feels cooler when in use. 
It is a returning daily offer at Amazon, so check those deals out if you want to save a few euros. Not that it is too expensive anyway. 

And a last-minute gift-to-self, Per Gessle's latest Swedish solo album, as well as the PG Archives 10-cd box that was a total steal at CDON.  I paid €36.95 at CDON while this sold for a whopping €149.49 at AmazonSpain. Shipping is €4.95 per order.

I've had my eye on this for a while. It was about €100 when it first came out and the price was the only thing putting me off snatching it without a backward glance. Not this time. Besides the 10 cds and vinyl, it also contains a book with photographs and comments from Per and Mats MP Persson.
As you can see in the pic, Per's solo album is signed. The box contains a vinyl, which explains the size. Per's latest Swedish solo album was recorded in Nashville and has that intimate vibe his solo work in Swedish has in spades. Nothing to do with his releases in English.

Hola chicas: 

Aquí estoy con una manicura. Mejor no os digo de cuándo es porque ya me da vergüenza.

Creo recordar que usé dos capas de esmalte sobre la base y que usé topcoat encima para protegerlo.

Las manicuras me suelen durar en condiciones 3-4 días y no suelo notar grandes diferencias entre una marca y otra.

Como esta entrada es corta hasta para mí, os dejo con un poco de música para amenizarla.
Se trata de Lilt, una joven banda australiana y su temazo 'Wait No More'.

It's mani time today. I'd better not tell when I actually wore this, or I'd blush from shame.

I seem to recall I used two coats of this polish on a coat of base and topped with some topcoat.

Manis usually last 3-4 in decent condition on me and I seldom notice any major differences between brands.

This post is short even for my standards, so I'll make up for that by sharing some music with you. It's from a new Aussie band, Lilt, and it's their single 'Wait No More'.

Mis regalos de Navidad - My Christmas gifts.

¿Qué tal se han portado Papá Noel y/o los Reyes Magos?
Conmigo muy bien, no me puedo quejar.
Aquí vengo a enseñaros mis regalos de Navidad (también autorregalos).

Primero empezaré con los regalos que me ha hecho Marox, variados y muy acertados, como siempre.

1- Perfume "Premier Jour" de Nina Ricci.
Regalar perfumes es un poco arriesgado, pero con éste ha acertado, como siempre.
No lo he empezado a usar todavía, porque todavía me queda bastante del de "Amor Amor" que también me regaló ella.
Lo compró en Fapex, que por cierto, NO le ingresó el cashback por entrar con Beruby y no admiten reclamaciones. Mal, Fapex. 




2- Lápiz de ojos automático de Kiko.
Es en tono negro. Por un lado es un lápiz de ojos automático como otro que podáis encontrar, y por el otro es un poco más gordito, como kajal. También lleva un pequeño sacapuntas incorporado.
Se podría decir que es un 3 en 1.
Empezaré a usarlo cuando acabe el que tengo de Flormar.
Lo que os puedo decir de momento es que lo he probado, y pigmenta mucho y es suave y cremoso.

3- Libro "Vamos a comprar mentiras".
De este libro nos hablaron en la charla que nos dieron las chicas de Abuelita Ceiba, a la que acudí hace un par de meses.
Su autor es José Manuel López Nicolás, autor también del blog Scientia.
En este libro, al igual que en su blog, desmonta mitos sobre alimentos y cosméticos, con argumentos científicos.
Pero científicos de verdad, no lo que nos cuentan en la tele.




4- CD "The Same Sun" de Sharon Corr.
El segundo álbum en solitario de la violinista de The Corrs.
Creo que Marox esta vez ha estado rezando para que no me lo hubiese comprado ya, como le pasó con el primer disco, que también me regaló.
Y no, no me lo había comprado, así que esta vez ha respirado tranquila.

5- CD "Only in my Mind" de Norma Jean Martine.
De esta artista ya os hablamos en nuestra entrada sobre el concierto de The Corrs en Londres, pues actuó como telonera.
Nos encantó su música, así que Marox, como siempre, tomó nota.
Este regalo ha sido sin duda una grata sorpresa. Me dijo que si lo hubiera comprado un par de semanas antes, me lo podría haber conseguido firmado, puesto que lo habría comprado directamente a la artista en su web.




Hasta aquí los regalos de mi hermana.
Mis padres siempre nos dan dinero (obviamente hay confianza), porque nunca saben qué regalarnos. "Si es que ya tenéis de todo", nos dicen siempre.

6- En una de nuestras visitas al mercadillo, encontré este vestido, por 15 €.
Es de tela elástica, y la parte de arriba está forrada por dentro.
Es en talla única, lo cual a veces es un poco arriesgado, porque siempre tiran a pequeñas.
Pero afortunadamente, me vale.
La única pega es que la parte de arriba me queda un pelín holgada, pero creo que será fácil de arreglar.

7- Pantalones elásticos estampados.
Tienen forro de abrigo por dentro, que por cierto, se me podía haber ocurrido enseñároslo en la foto. En fin, un despiste que espero que me perdonéis.
Me costó 6 €. Es la talla M/L, y me queda perfecto.




8- Jersey de Sfera.
Este ha sido un regalo sorpresa de mis padres. No me lo esperaba, y me ha gustado mucho. Es en la talla S. Temía que no me valiera, porque mi talla es la M, pero me queda perfecto.

Ahora vamos con mis autorregalos.

9- Pasta de dientes de Abuelita Ceiba.
Sí, ya sé que os sorprende el formato en tarro de cristal, pero en Abuelita Ceiba intentan siempre que pueden no utilizar plástico.
Si lo utilizan, sugieren que se reutilice. Y si les quieres pedir de nuevo un producto que viene en envase de plástico, sugieren que les mandes el envase del anterior vacío, y así te descuentan el precio del envasado.
Bueno, a lo que voy, que me enrollo.
Esta pasta de dientes está formulada con ingredientes naturales y libre de tóxicos, como todos los productos que fabrican.
Todavía no la he empezado, pero lo haré pronto, porque ya me queda poco de la de Jasön, que me regaló Marox.




10- Agua micelar de Sephora.
En realidad este fue el autorregalo que primero me hice. Aproveché el cupón que me mandaron por mi cumpleaños, que tenía una validez de 3 meses.
Trae 400 ml y me costó 14,90 €.
Me gustó mucho el envase. Abres la tapa, colocas el algodón, presionas y sale el producto. Fácil e higiénico.
También lo utilizaré pronto, porque ya me queda poco de la de Garnier, que he estado usando hasta ahora.

Ahora os enseño lo que me regalaron con la compra, gracias al cupón de cumpleaños.

11- Colorete dúo.
Este colorete puede ser una buena opción para llevar de viaje, pues la cajita tiene espejo incorporado.
El color de la derecha no es tan morado como lo veis en la foto. En realidad es rosa, y el de la izquierda, coral. Supongo que son cosas del balance de blancos.




12- Set de 3 minitallas de perfume.
Esto fue un regalo por la compra que hice (no sólo compré el agua micelar, sino también una máscara para cejas de Benefit para nuestra madre).
Con este regalo querían promocionarse como la tienda que más barato vende los perfumes.
En cualquier caso, este regalo es otra buena opción para perfumarnos cuando vamos de viaje.

Como veis, son un montón de regalos, así que me he debido de portar muy bien el año pasado, jeje.
Espero que con vosotras los Reyes Magos hayan sido igual de generosos.
Y si no, tranquilas, que pondremos remedio.

Did you get many presents from Santa and/or the Three Wise Men?
They were very nice, so no complaints from me. I felt like sharing with you what I got from my family and what I treated myself to.

I'll start with the presents I got from Marox. There were different things and she nailed them, as usual.


1 - Nina Ricci 'Premier Jour' EdP. Giving someone perfume as a present is a bit of a risk, but she hit the jackpot with this, as always.
I haven't used it yet, as I still have a lot left from my current fragrance, 'Amor Amor', which was another present from her.
She got it at Fapex /Beautyspin, which, incidentally, failed to give her the cashback she was entitled to for visiting their website through Beruby. Badly done, Fapex. 

2 - Kiko automatic eyeliner pencil, in black. On one end it's your regular automatic pencil and on the other it's a thicker pencil, kajal-like. It also comes with a sharpener, so it's a 3-in-1 product. I'll save it until I use up the Flormar one I'm currently using.
What I can tell you so far is that the colour payoff is great, it is gentle on the skin and very creamy.




3 -'Vamos a comprar mentirar' book (i.e. 'Let's go buy some lies'). It was mentioned in the talk I attended a couple of months ago by the ladies from Abuelita Ceiba.
It is written by José Manuel López Nicolás, who's behind the blog Scientia.
In the book, just like he does in his blog, he debunks food and cosmetics myths with extensive evidence. And I'm talking about real, scientific evidence, not the kind of stuff you hear on TV.

4 - 'The Same Sun' CD Album, by Sharon Corr. It's the second solo album by The Corrs violinist.
I think this time Marox was praying to get it right and for me to not have bought this already. That's what happened with her first record that she got me for my birthday.
And no, I hadn't bought that, so she breathed a sigh of relief.




5 - 'Only in my Mind' Cd album, by Norma Jean Martine.
We talked about this up-and-coming artist when we wrote about the concert we went to in London, where Miss Martine was one of the supporting acts.
We loved her music so Marox, as usual, took mental note of that fact.
This was a total surprise, and a welcome one for that matter. She confessed that if she'd bought this a few weeks earlier, she would have been able to get me a signed record, as they were for sale on the artist's official website.

Those were the presents I got from my sister. Now, my parents always give us money -we're close enough for that to be OK, after all- because they never know what to get us, anyway. 'You don't need anything, you see', they say.

6 - In one of our visits to the local flea market, I found this dress, for just 15 EUR.
It's a stretchy fabric and the top part has an inner lining.
It's one of those 'one size fits all' items, which is a bit of a hit or miss. That's always risky, but I lucked out this time, as it fits.
The only downside is that the top part is a bit loose, but I think it'll be an easy fix.




7 - Patterned stretch pants: They have a fleece lining on the inside, which I forgot to photograph. Sorry about that.
These were €6 and are the M/L size, which fit me fine.

8- Sweater from Sfera.
This one was a surprise gift from my parents.
I didn't expect it, and I like it very much.
It's in an S size. and I was afraid it wouldn't fit me, as my size is usually M, but it fits me fine.

And now let's see what I bought myself.

9 - Abuelita Ceiba toothpaste. Yes, I know it's strange to see toothpaste in a glass jar, but the folks at Abuelita Ceiba try to avoid plastic as much as possible. When they do use it, they strongly advise reusing it. And to that effect they have an initiative similar to 'Back to MAC', where if you give them the empty container, they deduct the packaging costs.
Anyway, I'd better cut to the chaste. 
This toothpaste is formulated with natural, chemical-free ingredients, like all the products they make.
I haven't tried it yet, but will do soon, as the Jasön one I got from Marox will shortly feature in a forthcoming Empties post.

10 - Sephora micellar cleansing water:
This was actually my first 'Merry Christmas to me gift'. I used the voucher Sephora sent me for my birthday, which was valid for three months.
It contains 400 ml and cost €14.90.
I liked the bottle very much. You open the lid, place a cotton pad on top, press down and the product comes out. Easy and clean.
I'll use that very soon, as my Garnier one is coming to an end.




And these are my freebies (with purchase).

11 - Blush duo:
This can be handy for travelling, as the case comes with a mirror.
The colour on the right is not as purple as it looks on the picture. It's actually pink and the one on the left is coral. Blame the white balance settings.

12 - Perfume samples, set of 3:
This was a gift with purchase, as I not only bought the micellar water but also an eyebrow mask from Benefit for our mum.
With this gift, Sephora aims to promote themselves as the store with the best deals on fragrances. Anyway, this gift is also something to keep for future travels.




As you can see, I had a lot of presents, so I must have been really good last year, right?
I hope the Three Wise Men were equally generous with you.
And if they weren't, we'll see what we can do about it.

Mis regalos de cumpleaños - My birthday gifts.

Hace poco más de un mes fue mi cumpleaños. Os voy a enseñar lo que me regalaron.

-CD de Sharon Corr (repe).
El primer album en solitario de Sharon Corr, la violinista de The Corrs. Se llama "Dream of You".
Lo que Marox no sabía cuando me lo regaló es que ya lo tenía. No os podéis imaginar la cara que puso cuando se lo dije. Me daba pena y todo. Ella siempre se las ingenia para sorprender con los regalos, y lo hace muy bien. Buscó en mi casa donde sabe que tengo los CDs, y no lo vio. Pero éste lo tenía en otro sitio.
Me dice que lo venda por eBay, que no le va a parecer mal, pero me da cosilla. Lo tengo ahí guardado, junto a "su gemelo".

-DVD "Live in Sao Paulo" de Sharon Corr, de Ebay.
Con éste sí que ha acertado de pleno, porque no lo tenía, y además, han sacado pocas copias de este DVD.
Como os podéis imaginar, ya lo he visto, y la verdad es que me ha gustado mucho.
Además de canciones de sus dos discos en solitario, interpreta temas de The Corrs, que resulta curioso escuchar con Sharon como vocalista.

-Teléfono inalámbrico SPC, modelo TEL317290R. (Amazon)
También me lo ha regalado Marox. Sabía que el otro que tenía empezaba a hacer cosas raras, y que tarde o temprano llegaría el momento de cambiarlo. Así que, otro acierto.



-Reproductor MP3 tipo iPod Shuffle, comprado en Ebay.
Igualito al que Marox se cogió para ella en dorado. No tiene memoria interna, sino una ranura para meter una tarjeta micro SD, que a mí me parece mucho más práctico, porque cuando se estropee el aparato (que esperamos que tarde mucho), no tengo que recuperar todas las canciones.
Los auriculares que trae no me gustan mucho, aparte de por la calidad de sonido, que no es muy buena, porque se me salen y tengo que estar apretándolos continuamente.

-Exfoliante corporal de Giovanni:
Otro regalo de Marox, con el que también ha acertado. Me lo regaló hace tiempo, y sabe que me encantó, así que ha optado por jugar sobre seguro.



-Pijama de verano.
Este ha sido un regalo de mi madre, que sabe que deseché un par de pijamas porque se habían desgastado (o roto) del uso.
He podido estrenarlo antes de que empiece a hacer mal tiempo.

-Botines de Fluchos.
Parece que este año se llevan mucho los botines, y me apetecía tanto tener unos..., que me los he regalado a mí misma.
Tienen una piel muy suave y son comodísimos. Los estoy usando a diario.
Los compré en *esta* zapatería de Zamora. Había una oferta del 50%, así que me costaron 49€. Genial, ¿no os parece?
Lo malo es que eran pares sueltos y mis padres y Marox no se pudieron coger nada porque no había nada rebajado en sus números.
Ventajas de calzar un pie pequeño, jeje.



Bueno, pues estos han sido los regalos que he recibido este año por mi cumple.
Así que, que cumpla muchos más, y que vosotras lo veáis, jeje.

My birthday was a bit more than a month ago, so it's time for me to share with you what I got from my loved ones.

-Music CD by Sharon Corr (duplicated!) It's the first solo album by Sharon Corr, violinist from The Corrs, called 'Dream of You'.
What Marox didn't know when she ordered this was that I already had it. You can't imagine the look on her face when I told her it. I felt really sorry for her. She always nails her presents and gets you something you were not expecting. She searched the CD collection at my place and didn't see it. But it turned out I kept this somewhere else.
She insists it's fine to sell it back on Ebay, that she won't feel bad, but I do. I'm keeping it next to its twin.

-'Live in Sao Paulo' DVD from Sharon Corr, from Ebay.
She did hit the jackpot with this one. I don't own this and apparently only a few copies of this were released.
Needless to say I've already watched it and I liked it very much. Besides songs from her two solo albums to date, she performs songs from The Corrs. It feels a bit strange to have her doing the lead vocals on those.



-SPC Cordless Landline phone, model TEL317290R (sold at Amazon): Another present from Marox. She knew that my old one had been acting funny for a while and that one day or another I'd have to chuck it. Another hit from her.

- iPod shuffle Mp3 player dupe, from Ebay: Exactly the same she bought for herself in gold. It doesn't have an inbuilt memory, but a micro SD slot which I think is even more practical. That way, the day it stops working -hopefully it will be a long day from now- I won't have to copy all the songs onto a new one again.



The earphones it came with are no good, not only because of the poor sound they give but because they come loose and I have to keep adjusting them in.

-Body scrub from Giovanni:
Another gift from Marox (she hit the jackpot again). She gave me some time ago, and knew I love it, so she preferred playing safe.

-Summer pyjamas: This was a present from my mum, who knows I said goobye to a few sleepwear items who were too worn out to use. I was able to use them before the cold weather came.



- Fluchos Ankle Boots: 
It seems this year ankle boots are in and I really wanted a pair... so this was a happy-birthday-to-me gift. The leather on these is silky soft and they're really comfy. I'm wearing them on a daily basis. I purchased them at a local shoe shop in our hometown, Zamora. They were having an early autumn sale with items 50% off, so I only paid €49 for these boots. Isn't it great?

The downside was that they only had a small selection of sizes available and neither my parents nor Marox could get any, since there was nothing discounted in their size.
The perks of having small feet, lol.

Well, these were my birthday presents this year.

Guía de viaje de Londres (IV) - London travel guide (IV).

Hola, chicas:

Después de haberos mantenido a la espera, por fin os desvelamos lo que hicimos la tarde del día 7 de nuestra estancia. Podéis leer la *primera* y *segunda* parte pinchando en los enlaces.

Recordaréis que en la *tercera* parte os comentábamos que al comprar nuestras entradas para visitar el Jardín Botánico de Kew, tuvimos un descuento adicional que no esperábamos.

Pues bien, la razón del descuento (de un 50%, además del 2x1) era que teníamos entradas para Kew the Music. Gracias al descuento, sólo pagamos 7 libras por las entradas a los jardines para las 2.
Los conciertos de verano en Kew Gardens llevan celebrándose durante 34 años, ahí es nada.

Las normas para los conciertos de Kew the Music, que consultamos en Internet previamente, nos parecieron de lo más curioso.
Podías llevarte tu manta de picnic, y tu propia comida (aunque en el recinto hay puestos de comida). La mayoría de los asistentes iban provistos de sillas plegables, mantas, fiambreras, neveritas, botellas de champán, etc. Era de lo más pintoresco.

Nosotras no llevábamos manta de picnic, así que como no llovía, pusimos en el suelo nuestros chubasqueros y nos sentamos encima. Nos dieron una bolsa de basura enorme para tirar los desperdicios en los contenedores a la salida. Como generamos pocos residuos, los tiramos directamente en los contenedores. La bolsa la tenemos de recuerdo.

Como íbamos a pasar unas cuantas horas allí, compramos algo para comer. Churros, nada menos. Allá donde vayamos, haciendo patria. Para untarlos, una tarrina pequeña con chocolate belga, que estaba buenísimo.
Nos los comimos durante la actuación de uno de los teloneros.





Como teloneros, actuaron *Ten Millennia* y *Norma Jean Martine* (no, no se me ha olvidado poner la z; es que se escribe así).
Nos encantó su actuación a las dos. Tiene una voz tipo Sia Furler. Su single 'I Want You To Want Me' sale en la película 'Kids in Love' con Cara Delevigne. 

Podéis ver un resumen de la actuación de los primeros *aquí*. Antes y después de su actuación, regalaron 5.000 cds con algunos de sus temas. Marian pilló uno de recuerdo.




Disfrutamos de sus actuaciones cómodamente sentadas en la hierba, cosa que agradecimos enormemente. Había que reservar fuerzas para el grupo principal, que fue (redoble de tambor)... The Corrs.





A las dos nos encanta su música, pero Marian es superfan, megafan, gigafan... desde que empezaron.
Tanto es así que, como ya sabéis, en el verano de 2012 nos acercamos hasta Dundalk, su ciudad natal, en nuestro viaje a Irlanda.





Nunca habíamos visto a The Corrs en concierto, y la verdad es que ha sido una experiencia inolvidable.
Presentaron bastantes temas de su nuevo disco, 'White Light' y cómo no, interpretaron algunos de sus temas más famosos como 'Runaway', 'Breathless' y 'So Young'.
Hicimos un montón de fotos y vídeos con los móviles y con nuestras cámaras; mejor dicho, con las cámaras de Marox, porque las réflex teóricamente estaban prohibidas, aunque luego vimos a alguien del público con una.

El ambiente del entorno ayudó a disfrutar aún más de la experiencia. La gente acampada en el césped disfrutando de la música. Incluso una pareja escogió ese día para casarse en los jardines y Andrea les felicitó antes de interpretar 'Runaway', un detalle que los novios agradecieron por las RRSS, sorprendidos.

Hi girls,

After keeping you waiting, now it's time to finally reveal what we we were up to in the evening of Day 7 of our stay in London. You can read parts *one* and *two* by clicking on the links.

As you'll probably remember, we told you on the *third* part of this guide that when we bought our tickets for Kew Gardens, we got an additional (and unexpected) discount (50% off, besides the 2x1 offer).

The reason for that was that we had tickets for Kew the Music. Thanks to the additional discount, we only paid 7 pounds for both our Kew Gardens tickets. 
Summer concerts at Kew Gardens have been held for the last 34 years. Wow!







We found the FAQs online for the event and were pleasantly surprised by many things.
For starters, you could bring your own picnic blanket, as well as your own food (although there are some food stalls available).
Most concertgoers came with fold-away chairs, blankets, lunch boxes and cool boxes for champagne... You name it. It was a sight to behold.

We didn't have a blanket, so since it wasn't rainy, we took off our raincoats and laid them on the grass and just sat down on top. We were given a couple of plastic bags to dispose of any waste in any of the containers by the exit. Since we barely generated any waste, we just threw it away in the trash bins inside the enclosure. And kept the bags as a souvenir, lol.

Considering we'd be spending a good number of hours there, we grabbed something to eat. And what did we get? A cone of churros. You see, we're proud to be Spanish.
You could get a small tub of Belgian chocolate to wash them down, which was to die for. It was like melted chocolates. Mmm. 
We ate them while watching one of the two opening acts.

We both liked their performances so much.
Norma Jean's voice reminds us Sia Furler. Her single 'I Want You To Want Me' is included in the soundtrack of the movie 'Kids in Love', with Cara Delevigne.

Before and after their performance, 5000 CDs with some of their songs were given to the audience. Marian got one.


We enjoyed their shows comfortably sitting down on the grass, which was great to keep our energies for the main act of the day, which was *drumroll*... The Corrs.





We both like their music, but Marian is superfan, megafan, gigafan of them ever since they began.
So much that, as you know, we made it a point to visit Dundalk (The Corrs' hometown) in the summer of 2012.





We'd never seen The Corrs live, and I must say that it's been an unforgettable experience.
They performed a selection of songs from their newest album, 'White Light' as well as some of their most famous tunes, such as 'Runaway', 'Breathless' and 'So Young'. 
We took lots of pics and videos with our smartphones and also with our cameras ;or Marox's cameras, to be completely honest, as DSLRs were forbidden inside, although we later saw someone with a DSLR.


The general atmosphere made the experience even more special: the audience sprawled on the grass enjoying the music... a couple chose that date and venue to get married and were congratulated on the occasion by Andrea Corr herself before launching into 'Runaway'. The couple were shocked beyond words and commented on her kind words in social media.

De vuelta a... Estocolmo / Back to Stockholm (II)

Día 2 o cómo calarse hasta las bragas en una tarde de verano sueco.

Y llegó el momento de desvelar el misterio de lo que hicimos en la tarde/noche de nuestro segundo día en esta nueva visita a Estocolmo. El día D... también conocido como el del Diluvio Universal. Porque en la anterior entrega ya os adelantamos que el día anunciaba lluvia y no dejó de llover en toda la puñetera tarde. Al principio no demasiado, pero poco a poco, te vas calando y si luego encima ya llueve con fuerza...

El motivo por el que no queríamos que lloviera en este día en concreto no es otro que lo que motivó este nuevo viaje a Estocolmo... el concierto que Roxette dieron en la explanada del museo marítimo o Sjöhistoriska Museet, como colofón a la gira mundial por el 30 aniversario de la banda.

Después de visitar el museo Nobel por la mañana y reponer fuerzas en un restaurante de Gamla Stan, cogimos el bus -que nos costó de lo lindo dar con la parada, ¡qué show siguiendo al conductor, con él haciéndonos señas!- número 69 en las inmediaciones de Sergels Torg, puesto que nos dejaba justo al lado del museo. Cogiendo el metro hasta Karlaplan habríamos tenido que andar un montón y nos habría costado encontrar el sitio.

Tras localizar la fila correcta para entrar con nuestra entrada estándar – la entrada VIP con early entry costaba unos 150 euros y como que no estábamos dispuestas a desembolsar semejante pastizal – nos tocó esperar un par de horitas en una cola perfectamente organizada a que se abrieran las puertas del recinto. Tiempo suficiente para que nuestros “impermeables” del Decathlon demostraran que sí que dejan pasar el agua. ¡Y mira que vendían ponchos de plástico por doquier! Y café. Es que estos suecos son muy organizados.

En cuanto accedimos al recinto, fuimos a pillar sitio. Tercera fila, aproximadamente. No está mal y tuvo sus ventajas no estar más adelante, ya os contaremos por qué. Nos turnamos para dar una vuelta por los alrededores y tuve la brillante idea de acercarme al puesto de merchandising del concierto... para comprar un par de camisetas SECAS para Marian y para mí. Y como estaba todo estupendamente montado, nos turnamos para ponérnoslas en los servicios portátiles que había instalados. De paso pillé también algo de comer -pagado con tarjeta, of course, que estamos en Suecia y el efectivo apenas se usa- puesto que la tarde era larga y después probablemente ya no podríamos hacerlo.

Cuando regresé a nuestro sitio me encontré con que Marian ya había localizado a un fan patrio, y ya se habían puesto al día de su vida y milagros, casi, Jeje. Cada vez llovía más y hubo momentos en los que pensábamos que lo mejor sería que cancelaran. Miembros del equipo salían a tantear el escenario e incluso durante la actuación de los teloneros, Eskobar, salió la vocalista que acompaña a Marie, Dea, a ver cómo pintaba la cosa. Por lo que nos dijo la gente que había estado en otros conciertos del grupo en Suecia, nunca había pasado. En su favor, diremos que tanto los teloneros como Roxette fueron hiperpuntuales. Los pobres eran conscientes de que estábamos caladitos ya y no nos quisieron torturar más.

Y llegó el momento tan esperado para nosotros, el momento en que Roxette salió al escenario. Aunque ya me lo habían advertido, impresiona ver a Marie, cuyas secuelas de su tratamiento le están dando mucha guerra últimamente y necesita que alguien la acompañe hasta su sitio. Mi amiga Vane la vio en concierto en Malmö en marzo, cuando le falló la pierna hasta el punto de que casi se cae, pero ella, cual guerrera, se negó a sentarse.

Los siguientes tres cuartos de hora fueron muy intensos, a ratos ateridas de frío y sin apenas movernos por los escalofríos, y a ratos todo se te olvidaba y no podíamos hacer otra cosa que desgañitarnos cantando sus temas, mientras hacíamos alguna foto y vídeo para el recuerdo. Diréis que qué corto el concierto, pero es que tenía tanto miedo de que Marian se cogiera una pulmonía o algo, que le sugerí que nos quedáramos el tiempo suficiente para que ella viviera el ambientillo de un concierto. Sí, nos fuimos como a la mitad, despidiéndonos de nuestro compañero durante el concierto tras intercambiarnos los teléfonos. El equipo estaba preparando los teclados para el dueto entre Marie y Dea.

Me da rabia que los vídeos que han colgado en el facebook son todos -creo- posteriores a que nos marcháramos. Eso sí, vernos, nos vieron, porque a pesar de la lluvia tuvimos ánimos de ondear nuestra bandera.

En cuanto a los temas, me gustó mucho la versión balada de Stars, que ya conocía. Al día siguiente, ésto es lo que escribió Per sobre el concierto:

Traducción: ¡Fantástico! No la lluvia torrencial... ¡Jesús! Nunca antes había tocado en una ducha. ¡Qué pasada! Resbalaba todo. Y las gafas de Magnus todas chorreando... ¡surrealista!

Pero la gente... ¡Oh, Dios mío! ¡Más de 13.000 personas, de pie como jabatos durante horas, cantando con nosotros y dándonos tanta energía positiva que me siento como el conejito de Duracell ahora mismo!

Gracias a todos por hacer de ésta una actuación única, que todo aquel que estuviera allí nunca olvidará. Día libre mañana y luego la última actuación en Suecia durante un tiempo.

Habrá vídeos, chicos (tanto de Gotemburgo como de Estocolmo), sólo que no tengo tiempo de echarles un vistazo ahora mismo.

Y hablando de la lluvia, la única "ventaja" que tuvo en ese concierto pagar la entrada VIP fue que te mojabas el triple. El equipo que cuidaba del escenario fue barriendo el agua acumulada antes y durante el concierto. ¿Habéis adivinado ya quienes se ducharon con ese agua? ¡Correcto! Las 50 personas -en especial los argentinos que teníamos delante- que pagaron la entrada cara.

Y como llovidos del cielo, esperándonos a la salida había un grupo de taxis. El taxista que nos llevó al hotel nos dijo que llevaba hechos 6 viajes ya en lo que llevaba el concierto, así que como veis no fuimos las únicas 'rajadas'.

Y como en la entrada anterior me despedí con algo de intriga, en ésta voy a hacer lo mismo, sólo adelantándoos que tuvimos unas cuantas sorpresas al día siguiente.

Day 2 or how to get soaked to your undies on a Swedish summer evening.

And now it's time to reveal the mystery behind what we did in the afternoon/evening during our second day in this new visit to Stockholm. D Day or from now on, Downpour Day. Remember we told you in our previous installment of this new travel guide that the day looked rainy from the start? Well, it rained indeed. All through the frigging afternoon/evening. At first it was only a drizzle, but little by little, you get soaked and it only gets worse as the rain gets heavier and heavier.

The reason why we didn't want it to rain on this particular day was the same one behind our going to Stockholm a year after our first visit... Roxette's concert marking the end of the Swedish leg of their 30^th anniversary tour. The chosen venue was the Maritime Museum Gardens or Sjöhistoriska Museet.

After visiting the Nobel Museum in the morning and having a Swedish lunch in Gamla Stan, we took the bus – quite an adventure in itself, with us chasing the bus driver searching for the stop- number 69 near Sergels Torg, as it was the easiest way to get to the concert venue. If we'd taken the subway (Tunnelbana) instead, we would have a really long walk ahead of us and we would have probably struggled to find the place.

Once we located the right queue for us and our standard concert tickets – the VIP or Early Entry ones cost a whooping 150 EUR and that was a thanks but no thanks for us- it was merely a question of waiting in an orderly queue until the doors opened. That was time enough to realize our so-called raincoats from Decathlon were not waterproof at all. Why oh why didn't we get one of those plastic ponchos that were being sold all over the place? And coffee. You see, the Swedish do think of everything.
We bought our tickets online through Ticnet. 

Once inside, it was time to get a decent spot. Third row, not too bad at all and let me tell you it was better than being right in front, but I'll get to that later. We took turns to take a look around and I had the brilliant idea of going to the official concert memorabilia store... for a pair of DRY T-shirts for both Marian and myself. And since everything had been organized to the last detail, we took turns to put them on using one of the many porta-potties installed for the event. I also grabbed a bite -and paid it by credit card, it's Sweden after all and locals seldom use cash-, as it was likely it would be hard to do so as the day went by.

When I got back to our spot, I found Marian deep in conversation with another Spanish fan. The rain was getting worse by the second and we were convinced the show would be cancelled. Several crew got out several times to assess the situation and the condition of the stage. While the opening act, Eskobar, was on stage Roxette's backing vocalist Dea, got out to perform a song with them to check things out for the band. Unheard of, according to other fans there. They were both anally punctual, probably aware of the fact that we were soaked and getting impatient.

And the long-awaited moment had come at last, Roxette got on stage. Forewarned as I'd been, it was still shocking to see Marie looking so frail -the aftermath of her cancer treatment is hitting her quite hard lately and she needs help to get to her spot onstage. My friend Vane saw her live this March in Malmö, where her failing leg betrayed her and she almost fell down. But Marie, a true warrior, refused to sit down then.

The next 45 minutes were really intense, at times chilled to the boned and almost unable to move from shivering so much and then all stoked and singing along at the top of our lungs, snapping some pics and shooting some short vids at the same time so we could have a visual memory of this evening. 



You're probably wondering at how short the concert was, and here's where we own up to the fact that we left by the middle of the show. You see, I was really worried that Marian would get pneumonia or something and suggested staying for while, long enough for her to experience the rollercoaster ride a concert is: the queues, the long wait, the joy when the band eventually comes out. We said goodbye to our partner for the show after exchanging numbers. The crew was setting up the keyboards for Marie and Dea's duets.

It's a pity that all the videos the band's uploaded to their official Facebook page all seem to have been taken after we left. But at least they did see us, since even in that foul weather we got the energy to get our flag out and wave it in the rain, lol.

Songwise, I really enjoyed the slow version of 'Stars' -not that that was unusual- they performed.

The following day, this is what Per wrote about the concert:

And talking about rain, the only upside to paying the VIP tickets for this concert alone was the fact that you got three times more rain than others. You see, the concert crew kept sweeping the rain off the stage both before and during the show. Guess who got showered with that water? Jackpot! The 50 souls -esp. the Argentinian crowd standing up in front of us- who forked out that small fortune those tickets cost.

And as if godsent, awaiting us after leaving there was a line of taxis. Our cabbie told us ours was his 6^th ride during the concert, so see? We weren't the only 'chickens' out there.

And just like I did in the final lines of our previous Stockholm post, I'll wrap this post with a little bit of mystery too. Let me just tell you that we got a few surprises the following day.

UDLS / NOTW: Gina Tricot 'Turquoise Dust'

Hola, chicas:

Espero que hayáis pasado una Nochebuena fantástica, y que Papá Noel os haya traído muchas cosas. Aunque quizá prefiráis esperar a los Reyes Magos.

Confesamos que en nuestra familia nos hemos dado los regalos como una semana antes de Nochebuena, porque somos unos ansias todos.

El esmalte que os enseño hoy fue una de mis adquisiciones en nuestro último viaje. La cadena de ropa Gina Tricot de la capital sueca tiene su propia linea de maquillaje y lo que más nos llamó la atención fueron sus *esmaltes*.

Me decidí por este, que me recordó mucho al 'Mermaid's Dream' de Deborah Lippmann. Buscando por internet, he visto que de hecho es así y que tienen otros esmaltes imitando a los de DL. Además, no están testados en animales.
Podéis ver una comparativa de los dos esmaltes en *este* enlace. El de Deborah Lippmann es el más cubriente, evidentemente, pero el color y el efecto están bastante conseguidos. Para que el de Gina Tricot quede cubriente habría que dar cuatro capas.

En las fotos, llevo un par de capas del esmalte Turquoise Dust únicamente. Sí, me pudo el ansia durante el viaje y lo estrené allí mismo. Nunca llevo esmaltes en el neceser porque sé que seguro que alguno se viene conmigo fijo de regreso y porque sé que si los llevo es probable que no tenga tiempo de usarlos.



La duración creo que fue de unos dos-tres días, normal con el ajetreo y al no llevar nada más.
El esmalte como podéis ver no es del todo opaco, pero creo que eso es algo que se podría mejorar poniendo una base blanca u otro esmalte debajo.
El glitter que lleva hace que tengáis que tener algo de paciencia a la hora de retirarlo.

Hace mucho que no me despido con música, así que aquí va una canción de un grupo que he descubierto hace poco y que no logro quitarme de la cabeza. ¡Dadle al play!
Está claro que voy contracorriente, ya que lo normal en un día como hoy sería cerrar una entrada con un villancico o algo así. Pues no, el tema es de lo más cañero.

We hope you had a great Christmas Eve, and that Santa was good to you and brought you many presents. Maybe you prefer to wait for The Three Wise Men.

We confess that in our family we gave each other our presents about a week before Christmas Eve, because we're such 'hurry warts' we can't wait to see each other's faces as we open up our presents.

The polish I'm sharing with you today was one of my purchases during our recent trip to Stockholm this summer.

The clothing store chain Gina Tricot had its own make-up brand and we were drawn to their *nail polishes* almost at once.
This one caught my eye, as I suspected it could be a decent enough dupe for Deborah Lippmann's 'Mermaid's Dream'.
I searched online for this later and found that it was indeed considered so. The brand apparently has other DL dupes.

Another plus is the fact that their polishes are cruelty free.

*Here*'s a side by side comparison of the two, where you'll see the Deborah Lippmann one comes out the winner in terms of coverage and opacity, but I'd say they nailed the colour and effect all the same. This Gina Tricot polish would need around 4 coats to be opaque.

In the pics I'm wearing Turquoise Dust on bare nails. Yes, I was so eager to try it that I had to use it right there and (almost) then. You get the idea. I never carry nail polishes in my travel vanity case, as I know that I'll return home with a few or I won't have time to use the ones I pack.



 I'd say wear time for this was two to three days -the usual, more or less- not bad considering I wore this on bare nails with no top coat.
The polish is not fully opaque in the pics but this could be solved using it for layering or over a white base polish.
Removal will take a bit longer because of the glitter, so take your time.

It's been a while since I last wrapped up a post with some music, so here's some ear candy. I discovered the band recently through this song and I can't get it out of my head. Just hit play!
It seems I'm somewhat going against the grain by not including a Christmas song as an ending on a day like today. What can I say? I chose an uptempo song, why not?
