UDLS / NOTW: Essence 'Love me Tender' (50's Girls LE) + estampación / stamped

¡Hola!
"Perdóname Blogger porque he pecado". Pues sí, resulta que tengo unas cuantas manicuras en el disco duro, esperando a que tenga a bien subirlas.
Así que hoy os toca manicura de archivo, con un esmalte de Essence como base que me apeteció animar un poco con una estampación, para de paso probar algunas de las últimas placas que he comprado.

So today I'm back with another mani from the vault, where I used an Essence polish as base and brightened it up a bit with some stamping. It was the perfect opportunity for me to put my latest plate purchases to the test.

En las fotos llevo una capa de Nail Envy y una generosa de este esmalte, perteneciente a la colección '50's Girls' de hace ya tiempo. Es un color que sin ser tornasolado, no se sabe si es plateado o dorado.

Para estampar utilicé el esmalte especial de Essence en negro y protegí los diseños con topcoat.

In the pics I'm wearing one coat of Nail Envy as base and a generous one of this lacquer, released as part of the '50's Girls' LE from Essence a while ago. Not a duochrome, but it's hard to tell if it's silver or golden.


I stamped with Essence special polish in black and protected the designs with some topcoat.

Aquí estoy una vez más con una manicura con estampación. Me tocaba utilizar un tono claro y esto fue lo que me hice, ya a finales de abril.

Here I am again with another stamped mani. I had to use a light colour and this is what I came up with back in late April.

Día 1: A mediodía, aplico una capa del Nail Envy de OPI, seguida de una generosa de este esmalte que compré en un Rossmann de Berlín. Por la tarde, estampo con una de las placas nuevas que compré en BIC y el Stampy negro de Essence. En la mano izquierda, no me sale demasiado mal, pero de la derecha, sólo me queda decente en dos dedos, así que los demás los tapo con un poco más de esmalte como puedo. Protejo con Seche Vite. Mi idea era conseguir el efecto de una partitura antigua, en plan pergamino.

Day 1: By lunchtime, I apply one coat of Nail Envy from OPI, followed by a generous coat of this Rival de Loop polish that I bought at a Rossmann drugstore in Berlin. I later stamped using one of the new plates that I got off BIC and the black Essence Stampy. My left hand turned out quite nice but the right one was a complete mess except for two fingers, so I covered the others with more polish as best as I could. Topped it all with Seche Vite. My idea was to get the effect of an old music score, written in a parchment-like paper.

Día 3: Por la tarde, tengo dos desconchones en el pulgar e índice derecho y como tengo intención de volvérmelas a pintar al día siguiente para la cena de flamenco, me las despinto a última hora de la tarde. No me han durado mucho, pero he estado haciendo algo de limpieza, así que imagino que sería por eso.

Day 3: In the afternoon, I have two chips on my right thumb and pointer and as I plan on getting them polished again the following day to have dinner out with our flamenco classmates, I took this off in the evening. The staying power of this mani wasn't long for me, but I'd been doing some cleaning at home, so I guess that could account for it.

UDLS / NOTW: Essence Multidimension ''12 Found my Love' + Catrice '110 Poison Me, Poison You!'

Hoy le toca el turno a un post de uñas, que sé que gustan. Me temo que las fotos no son nada del otro jueves, ya que no tuve tiempo de que Marian me hiciera ninguna.

Today it's time for a mani post, which I know you enjoy. I'm afraid the pics are nothing out of the ordinary, as I had no time to ask Marian to take some.

Día 1: Por la mañana, aplico el tratamiento para las cutículas de Mavala. Después, una capa del Nail Envy como base y una vez seco, una capa generosa del esmalte de Essence. Para no dejar la estampación para luego (un luego que al final se queda en nada), tengo preparado el kit de estampación. Una vez seco, estampo con el morado de Catrice, que funciona de lujo, en todas las uñas con uno de los diseños de la placa de imitación de Konad que compré en Buyincoins. En el meñique de la mano izquierda se me mueve un poco y en el pulgar derecho me cuesta centrar el diseño y dejo un hueco, así que llamo a la caballería -Marian- para que me ayude con el resto de la mano. Limpio las manchas de esmalte de la piel de los dedos con un bastoncillo empapado en alcohol y aplico una capita de Seche Vite para proteger el diseño y acelerar el secado.

Day 1: In the morning, I apply the cuticle treatment from Mavala. Then, one coat of Nail Envy as base and once dry, a generous coat of this Essence lacquer. Fully intending to not leave stamping for later -a later that inevitably most times end up in nothing- I have my stamping kit at the ready. When dry, I used this excellent purple Catrice polish for stamping, which works flawlessly, in all nails with one of the images in the fake Konad plate that I got from BIC. The stamper moved a bit when I did my left pinky turning a bit blurry and I have some trouble aligning the design onto my right thumb, so I asked Marian for help and no more glitches with the rest of the hand once the cavalry arrived. I did some clean up around the cuticles with a cotton swab soaked in alcohol and apply a coat of Seche Vite to protect the designs and speed drying time up.

Día 4: El día anterior, tuve un desconchón en el dedo corazón de la mano derecha y otros más pequeños en otras uñas, así que me lo retiro por la mañana antes de lavarme el pelo. Recuerdo que la otra vez que usé el FML también se me saltó el esmalte relativamente pronto.

Eso sí, la estampación fue un éxito, ya que mucha gente me preguntaba que cómo me lo había hecho, que si eran pegatinas. A mi madre le gustó tanto, que me pidió que le hiciera algo parecido.

Day 4: The day before the polish on my right middle nail got chipped and other nails had some minor chipping too, so I took it off in the morning before I washed my hair. I remember that the first time I used FML it came off relatively early too.

The stamping though was a success, so much that many people asked me how I did it, if it were stickers and so on. My mother liked it so much that she asked me to do her nails with something similar.

Como ya imaginaréis por el título, le hemos cogido el gustillo a esta tienda online china. A lo tonto, a lo tonto, te pones a buscar por las distintas categorías y cuando te quieres dar cuenta ya estás iniciando sesión en Paypal. Como en otras ocasiones, hemos pedido artículos de belleza y de otro tipo, de los que también os hablaremos.
Hice el pedido el día 1 de abril y llegó el 12 -superrápido esta vez- pero lamentablemente no estábamos en casa cuando llegó nuestro querido cartero, así que tuvimos que ir a Correos al día siguiente a recogerlo.

As you've surely gathered by the title, we've taken a liking to this online Chinese store. Before you know it, you search the store's catalogue and find yourself logging into your Paypal account. As before, we've ordered both beauty-related stuff and other things we'll also mention next.
I placed the order on April 1st and it came on April 12th -lightning-fast shipping this time-, but unfortunately we were not at home when our beloved postman came, so we had to go to the Post Office on the following day to pick it up.

1- Placas de estampación #9, #11, #12 y #13: Son copias de las placas de Konad nº63, 73, 74 y 79 y cuestan cada una 1,49$ (aprox. 1,13€). Ya las hemos tuneado -ver *aquí*.

2- Tarjetero con capacidad para 120 tarjetas... para guardar las placas, porque marox ya tiene tantas que ya no le caben en el tarjetero pequeño que compró para este fin. Espero tardar en llenarlo, jeje. Lo tenéis *aquí*. Sirve para guardan las placas originales de Konad, las de imitación de BIC, las de Essence... pero no las que nos mandó SarahLouise en nuestro intercambio, ya que tienen mayor diámetro. Estoy pensando "embellecerlo" un poco.
2- Card holder for 120 cards... to store the image plates, because marox has so many of them now that they don't fit in the small one she bought for this purpose. I hope this one takes longer to fill, lol. You can see it *here*. It holds original Konad plates, BIC fake Konad plates, the Essence ones... but not the ones we got from SarahLouise in our swap, as those are bigger. I'm thinking about 'beautifying' it a little.




3- Monederos de silicona: ligeros y flexibles. ¿No son preciosos? Si os han gustado, podéis encontrarlos también en Claire's (o por lo menos, allí los vimos hace unas semanas por 4,95€ cada uno). Podéis verlos *aquí* Nos parecieron ideales para llevar, por ejemplo a la piscina.
3- Silicone wallets: light and flexible. Don't you think they're supercute? If you like them, you can find them at Claire's (at least, we saw them there a few weeks ago at 4.95 EUR each). You can see them *here*. We thought they'd be perfect to take to the pool.

4- Pilas recargables tamaño AAA (las pequeñitas). Para cuando a marox se le gaste la pila de la luz de la funda de su e-reader. Ya las hemos probado y funcionan perfectamente y esta vez, nos mandaron las AAA y no las AA.
4- Rechargeable batteries AAA size (the smallest ones). Marox will use them from now on for her Sony Reader official lit case. We've already tried them and work perfectly well. This time the store sent the requested AAA size instead of AA.

5- Coletero de plástico: Vienen cuatro y están disponibles o en marrón o en negro. A nosotras nos los han mandado en negro. Los tenéis *aquí*. Sirven para hacer distintos tipos de recogidos; sobre todo, moños. Si nos sale algo decente, ya os lo enseñaremos.
5- Plastic hair clip: Set includes four and they come in either brown or black, which is what we got. Check them out *here*. They serve to make different kinds of updo's, mainly chignons. If we get something nice, we'll show you.

6- Serpiente desatascadora: compramos 2 paquetes: uno para nosotras y el otro para mis padres. Por cierto, que a mi madre le ha encantado. Sirven para desatascar los desagües del lavabo y la bañera, principalmente, que suelen taponarse con frecuencia por pelo y cosas así.

A partir de ahora nos vamos a ahorrar una buena pasta en desatascadores químicos (éstos los reservaremos para el desagüe del fregadero que, además, no se suele atascar con tanta frecuencia). El medio ambiente lo agradecerá también. La tenéis *aquí*. Vienen dos de distinto tamaño en cada paquete, según el tipo de desagüe.

6- Turbo Snake drain cleaner: we bought 2 packs: one for us and the other one for my parents. Btw, my mother loves them. They serve to clean the drains of the sink and the bath tub, mainly, which often clog with hair and stuff like that. From now on we're going to save a lot of money on chemical drain cleaners (we'll keep these ones for the kitchen sink which doesn't plug so often). The environment will appreciate it too. You can see it *here*. Each set contains two different sized snakes, depending on the type of drain.

7- Cierres de plástico para envases de tubo: Seguro que alguna vez (muchas veces) os ha pasado que según vais gastando producto de un envase en tubo, vais enrollando la parte de atrás y apretando para sacar producto. Pues para evitaros esto, sólo teneis que meter la parte de atrás del tubo por la ranura e ir deslizando. Vienen dos unidades en cada pack y compramos dos unidades, y repartimos con nuestros padres como buenas hijas, jeje. De momento, no os podemos contar mucho más. Podéis verlo *aquí*.

7-Tube squeezer (for toothpaste and the like): I bet you've some (many) times rolled up and squeezed your tube as you're using it up. You can skip that and slide this little thing down on the back of your tube. Comes in a set of two and we bought two of these, so we can share with our parents like good offspring do, lol. We can't really say anything else yet. You can check these out *here*.

Hazlo tú : Tunea tus placas de estampación / DIY: Pimp your stamping plates

Desde que compré mis primeras placas y leí opiniones acerca de las originales de Konad, una de las quejas tenía que ver con el hecho de que las placas de "Fauxnad" / Essence / Bundle Monster v.1.0 no tenían una protección trasera, que sí tienen las de Konad.
Me pareció un pero bastante insignificante, sobre todo porque ya entonces se me ocurrió esta idea que no he llevado a la práctica hasta hoy.
La "solución" me parecía tan obvia que me extrañaba que no se le hubiera ocurrido a nadie y casi hasta me da vergüenza subirla. Que conste que lo de la protección trasera de las placas a mí no era algo que me molestara, pero puede que a otra gente sí.

Ever since I got my first image plates and read reviews of the original Konad plates, one of the main complaints people had about Fauxnad / Essence / Bundle Monster v.1.0 plates were to do with the fact that the latter lacked the paper backing Konad has. It seemed a petty complaint to me, as I was already toying with an idea in my mind but that I did not realize until today. The "solution" was so easy that I couldn't believe no one had come up with this idea yet and actually it's so simple I feel almost embarrased to upload it. Truth be told, not that the lack of a paper backing was a big problem for me at all. But I guess it could be for some people.

En cualquier librería/papelería e incluso en algunos supermercados y tiendas de manualidades, podemos encontrar rollos o trozos al corte de papel vinílico adhesivo, tipo 'Aironfix'. Este papel está disponible en muchos colores, lisos y con dibujos y varios acabados. La papelería donde lo compré yo no tenía mucho surtido, y total, para lo que era me daba más o menos igual.

Any bookstore/stationery/craft store and even some supermarkets here carry either rolls or pieces of cut-to-size adhesive vinyl paper, aka 'Aironfix' et alii. This paper is available in a large range of colours, both plain and patterned and with several finishes. The store I got my piece from did not have a lot of stuff to choose from but considering what I was going to use it for, it didn't matter much to me.

En la tienda había varios rollos preparados y algunos trozos sueltos. Entre ellos, éste en color azul oscuro mate, que me pareció ideal para el pequeño proyecto que tenía en mente. El trozo medía 70cm. y me cobraron poco más de 1,50€.

The store had several ready-made rolls and some spare pieces. Among those, this dark blue with a matte finish that seemed perfect for the little project I had in mind. The piece I got was 70cm. long and I paid a little more than 1.50 EUR for it.

Esta solución de "tuning" de las placas de estampación es de lo más simple. Se trata de cortar un trozo de papel adhesivo del mismo tamaño y forma que la placa a la que queremos poner la cubierta trasera. Lo pegamos con cuidado. Si no lo colocáis bien a la primera, no os preocupéis, porque se puede despegar fácilmente.

This 'tuning' solution for your Fauxnad stamping plates is more than simple. You just have to cut a piece of adhesive paper the same size and shape than the plate whose back you want to cover.
Stick carefully to the plate. If you don't place it properly on your first try, don't worry, because it can be unstuck easily.

¿Qué os parece? Fácil, ¿verdad? Pues hala, manos a la obra, que seguro que tenéis muchas placas "desnuditas".

UDLS/NOTW: Essence 'Skyscraper' ('Urban Messages')

Aquí vengo otra vez con otra manicura, esta vez con el esmalte que compré de la edición limitada de Essence "Urban Messages", y que ahora que recuerdo, no os lo enseñé en una entrada. Así que he pensado que podía hacer una especie de 2x1.

Hi everyone,
Here I am again with another mani, this time with the polish I bought from the Essence LE 'Urban Messages', which, by the way, I didn't show you on a post. So I've thought of doing some kind of a '2in1'.




El primer día aplico una capa de gel de calcio de Basic (Schlecker), que suelo utilizar cuando después me voy a aplicar un esmalte claro. La dejo secar, y luego aplico dos capas finas de este esmalte. No aplico Seche Vite después, porque tengo algo pensado para el día siguiente.

The first day I apply one coat of the calcium gel from Basic (Schlecker), which I often use when I'm going to apply a polish in a light shade. I let it dry, and then apply two thin coats of this nail polish. I don't apply Seche Vite now, because I've got something in mind for the following day.

Segundo día: He decidido que ya va siendo hora de estrenar el kit para hacerme una estampación. Mi primera estampación. Utilicé la placa que venía en el kit, y el esmalte negro para estampar de Essence. No sé qué pensaréis, pero creo que para ser la primera estampación no está mal.
Después de la estampación, ahora sí aplico Seche Vite.

Second day: I've decided it's time to use the stampy set on myself for the first time. I used the stampy plate that comes with the set, and the stampy polish from Essence in black. I don't know what you think, but in my opinion it's not too bad for a first try. After stamping, I do apply Seche Vite.

Quinto día: las uñas de la mano izquierda siguen en perfectas condiciones (como casi siempre que me las pinto), mientras que en el dedo índice de la mano derecha hay un pequeño desconchón. Las demás están aguantando muy bien.

Fifth day: my left hand nails are in perfect condition (as almost everytime I polish them); however, there's a little chipping on my right index finger. The rest of the nails of my right hand remains the same as the left hand ones.

Me ha gustado cómo queda la estampación sobre esmaltes claros, así que creo que no será la última que haga. Además, tengo que dar uso a todas las placas que tengo.

I like the way the stamping looks over light shades, so I think it won't be the last one I'll ever do. Besides, I must use all the plates I have.

UDLS / NOTW - Essence Multidimension #72 'Found my Love'

Os presento mi primer esmalte lila/lavanda. La verdad es que tenía ganas de hacerme con uno, sobre todo viendo que esta temporada se llevan mucho los tonos pastel. Es curioso que tenga varios colores similares tipo vino, varios verdes oscuros -me he jurado comprar con más cabeza y de momento me estoy portando- pero que no tuviera ninguno pastel aún. Afortunadamente, me he ido haciendo con alguno últimamente y como no han sido de marcas muy caras, mejor, porque a este paso me arruino. Lo vistéis en * este * post sobre mis últimas compras de Essence.

Meet my first lilac/lavender polish. The truth is I was very eager to get my greedy hands on one, particularly after seeing pastels are 'in' this season. It's strange how I usually head straight for vampy shades like wine reds, dark greens and so on - I promised myself to use my brains when buying polishes from now on and I'm proud to say I'm behaving so far - and I had no pastels until now.

Thankfully I've been getting a few lately and it's just as well they were from affordable brands or otherwise I'll end up bankrupt at this rate. It was included in my latest Essence haul blogpost *here*.

La verdad es que este color me ha encantado y mi hermana está pensando en comprarse otro, aunque como de momento sigo en su casa, puede usar perfectamente el mío. Ya veis que no tenemos ningún problema en compartir. De hecho tiene unos cuantos pendientes de estrenar que me tientan, jeje. Lo único que no me ha gustado es que se me empezó a desconchar al día siguiente de pintarme las uñas, aunque no fue algo demasiado grave. No sé si ha sido casualidad o qué, así que estaré atenta cuando lo vuelva a usar.

I honestly love this one and so does my sis, who's contemplating getting one for herself, but as I'm still staying at her place, she's welcome to use mine whenever she wants. As you see, we really get on and don't mind sharing. Actually she has quite a few untrieds that are very tempting, lol. The only thing I didn't appreciate was that I got some minor chipping the next day. I don't know if it was pure coincidence or what, so I'll keep my eyes open the next time I use it.

Me las pinté un martes por la noche, aplicando primero una capa de mi base de P2, una cargadita de este esmalte y otra de SV. Cubre muy bien y no es difícil conseguir un acabado uniforme.

Sorpresa, sorpresa, el miércoles por la tarde descubro un primer desconchón, en el pulgar de la mano derecha. No es muy grave, pero sí me parece digno de mención.

El jueves por la mañana, el índice derecho y el anular izquierdo han decidido unirse al 'club de los desconchones'. Por la tarde, decido darle un último cambio de look ya que no aguantarán mucho más y de paso sigo practicando mis dotes de estampación. Lo hago únicamente en dos dedos de cada mano: en la izquierda con dos tonos distintos, con el de Kiko gris que aunque estampa bien, no resalta nada sobre éste y le cojo prestado su 'Poison me, Poison You' de Catrice a mi hermana para el resto. Aún no lo ha estrenado, pero para estampación me ha dejado alucinada lo bien que ha funcionado, aunque el LWF se había portado muy bien también. Matifico con el topcoat de Fairwind esas dos uñas, aunque las que tenían el diseño más reciente se 'corre' un poco. Lo sé, tengo poca paciencia y tenía que haber esperado un poquito más, como me aconsejó mi hermana.

Como no iba a aguantar mucho más, me lo quité al día siguiente.

I painted my nails on a Tuesday night, first with one coat of P2's Base and then a thick one of this and topped with some SV. It's very pigmented and gives you an even coverage.

Surprise, surprise, I discovered some minor chipping on the edge of my right thumbnail. Not too big, but worthy of mention.

On Thursday morning, both my right index and left ring finger have decided to join the 'chip club'. In the evening I gave it a makeover to extend this mani a little bit longer and have another go at stamping to improve my skills. I did it just on two nails in each hand: I used two different shades in my left hand; my pale grey from Kiko that did well though did not stand out at all with this base and my sister's 'Poison me, Poison You' that I borrowed from her. It's still in her untrieds but did beautifully for the stamping on this one. I got a very neat design with it that left me quite speechless. LFF did great as well. I gave those nails a matte finish with Fairwind's topcoat that I got from Schlecker a while ago. I should have waited a little longer as my sister advised, because the designs that were the most tender did smear or 'bleed' a bit. I know, I have no patience whatsoever.

It wouldn't have lasted much longer, so I took it off the next day.

Valoración: esmalte muy bonito pero empezó a desconcharse antes de lo que esperaba. Estaré al loro la próxima vez, a ver qué tal se porta.

Overview: very pretty polish though started chipping earlier than expected. Will keep an eye on that the next time.

UDLS / NOTD - Kiko #329 + 'Stars' fauxnad

UDLS/NOTW: Kiko #329 'Grigio Chiaro' + 'Stars' Fauxnad.

Este ha sido el primer esmalte de Kiko que he probado de los que compré y que ya os había enseñado. Es el tono #329, un gris pastel claro de acabado cremoso, sin ningún tipo de brillito, aunque muy brillante de por sí, sin necesidad de añadir un top coat para darle ese 'plus' de brillo.

This was the first Kiko I've used of the ones I bought and shared with you here. #329 is a light pastel grey creme/jelly polish with no shimmer. It's very shiny all on its own, with no need to add a shiny top coat to make it pop.

Me las pinté el lunes, aplicando una capa de base (mi 'Base and Care Coat' de P2) y una gruesa de este Kiko, sin Seche Vite, ya que tenía pensado hacerle una estampación para practicar. Me pareció que secaba rápido, aunque esa impresión duró hasta que me levanté por la mañana con marcas de las sábanas.

I painted my nails on Monday, applying one coat of base -P2's 'Base and Care Coat'- and a thick one of this Kiko, with no Seche Vite, as I was planning on practising my stamping skills on this. I thought drying time was good, until I woke up the next morning with some nasty sheet marks.

Al día siguiente, mi hermana se ofreció a 'estamparme', jeje. Para ello, usamos dos esmaltes: el esmalte blanco para estampación de Essence 'Stampy! White' y el 'London's Weather Forecast' de Catrice. Como véis lo hicimos en dos uñas, cada una con un color e invertimos los colores en la otra mano.

Tenía ganas de probar qué tal funcionaban los esmaltes de Catrice como esmaltes de estampación y la verdad es que, al menos éste, ha funcionado a las mil maravillas. Por primera vez desde que me hice con el kit de estampación, apliqué una capa de top coat para proteger el diseño. Usé mi adorado 'Seche Vite' sin problemas.

The next day, my sister offered to 'stamp me', lol. We used two polishes for that: the white stampy! from Essence and Catrice's 'London's Weather Forecast'. As you can see, we went for a design with two accent nails, with different colours each and reversed them in the other hand.

I was eager to test how well the Catrice performed as stamping polishes and at least this one did beautifully. For the first time since I got my stamping kit, I applied one coat of top coat to protect the designs. I used my beloved SV for that and it went on really smooth.

El diseño es uno de los que viene en la placa incluida en el kit. El mío lo conseguí gracias a Teufeu, que avisó de que entraba gratis con la revista In Style. Ya no está disponible en las tiendas, siendo sustituido por otro, que es el que compró mi hermana en Alemania.

The design is from the plate included on the Essence stamping kit. I got mine thanks to Teufeu, who kindly spread the word about this freebie with In Style magazine. It's not available in stores anymore, as it was replaced with a new set, which is the one my sister purchased in Germany.

De nuevo toca enseñaros otro de los esmaltes que compré en Berlín. Es el tono 545 de la marca MNY, la línea joven de Maybelline y forma parte de la colección permanente. Fue lo único que me traje de esta marca junto con una sombra marrón que tengo pendiente de estrenar.

Me apetecía probar algo de esta marca ya que no se encuentra en España y vi este esmalte de tono bastante discreto. No se trata de un tono realmente único, por lo que si buscáis algo similar, supongo que no tengáis problema para encontrarlo en otra marca.

I'm back one more time with another nail polish I bought in Berlin. It's from the brand MNY, the young line of Maybelline. It's the colour 545, which is part of its permanent collection. It was my only purchase from this brand together with a brown eyeshadow I haven't used yet.

I really wanted to try something from this brand, because you can't get it in Spain and this work-appropriate colour caught my eye. It's not a really unique colour, so if you're looking for something similar I don't think you'll have any problems and can get something close from another brand.

Creo recordar que en las fotos llevo una capa del esmalte base de P2 'Base & Care Coat', dos capas de este -y aún se apreciaba la línea de la uña- y finalmente una capa de Seche Vite.

La aplicación, duración y demás me pareció correcta pero tampoco nada del otro jueves. Contiene 7 ml y costó, si mal no recuerdo 1.95 € en el DM. Comparados con los esmaltes de Essence, yo diría que gana Essence aunque quizá podría haberme comprado un tono un poco diferente.

In the photos, I think I'm wearing one coat of P2's 'Base & Care Coat', followed by two of this one -and nail line was still visible-, topped with one coat of Seche Vite. Application, durability and so on was fine though nothing out of the ordinary. It has 7 ml and was € 1.95 at DM. Compared to Essence nail polishes, Essence wins though perhaps I could have gone for a bolder and more unique colour.

Un par de días después, cuando el desgaste empezó a hacer su aparición decidí ponerme 'deberes' y seguí practicando con la estampación. Usé la placa de Essence con motivos animales y apliqué un diseño en el dedo anular de ambas manos. Os dejo una foto con el resultado. No me molesté en aplicar top coat encima para proteger el diseño, ya que tenía intención de despintármelas al día siguiente.

A couple of days afterwards, when wear was beginning to make an appearance I decided to do some 'stamping homework'. I used the Essence image plate with animal prints and did accent nails on my ring fingers. You can see how that turned out in the pics. I didn't bother with top coat to protect it, since I was going to remove my polish the next day.

Deliplus # 13: Estampación / Stamping

En mi anterior post os enseñaba el último esmalte de Deliplus, al tiempo que comentaba que pasados un par de días le había hecho un 'cambio de look': una estampación con una de las placas de Essence que me traje de Berlín.

In my last post I showed you the last Deliplus nail polish I bought, and also mentioned that a couple of days later I gave it a 'makeover': I stamped it using one of the plates I got in Berlin.

En realidad se trata de la tercera estampación que hago en mi vida y evidentemente no está exenta de errores. Por ejemplo, una vez transferido el diseño al sello, volví a dar otra pasada y algunos dibujos se me levantaron un poco y otros me quedaron 'ondulados'. Todavía me falta bastante 'rodaje': la primera vez no tenía esmaltes de estampación aún, así que usé los que tenía, por lo que los dejaba secar unos cuantos segundos una vez cubierto el diseño en la placa. Puede que os enseñe lo que salió de ese primer intento.

Actually this is my third stamping ever and obviously is far from being perfect. For instance, once I had transferred the design onto the stamper I rolled the stamp again in the opposite direction, therefore lifting part of the image or making it look 'wavy'. I still have a long way to go: the first time I didn't have any special stamping polish yet so I had to settle for the ones I had. I let them dry for a few seconds on the plate before scraping and stamping. I might show you how that turned out.

La segunda vez, ya con los esmaltes de estampación de Essence, creo que raspábamos de más el diseño o no trabajábamos con la suficiente rapidez: ¡el diseño se quedaba en la placa! Fue un poco desesperante, la verdad. Creo que lo intentamos con todos los diseños de la placa. Sarahlouise me recomendó limar ligeramente el sello y la verdad es que funciona: eso sí, hay que hacerlo cada vez que vayamos a estampar. Os dejo un enlace muy útil para iniciarse en el tema de la estampación.

The second time, with the Essence stampy's I think we scraped the design way too much or didn't work fast enough: we couldn't transfer the design onto the stamper!! It was sooo exasperating! I think we tried every single image in the plate. Sarahlouise advised slightly filing the stamper and it did work, though you have to repeat this step before every single stamping that you make. I'll leave below a very useful link to get started with your stamping.

Y por último, en la foto que podéis ver de nuevo el esmalte Deliplus del que os hablaba en la entrada anterior. En esta ocasión, utilicé el stampy negro de Essence y la placa con motivos geométricos, que tenía pendientes de estrenar. Había pensado hacer la estampación al revés: únicamente en el dedo anular, pero le cogí el gusto y fue la única uña que no decoré, por lo que se podría decir que es una manicura con el acento 'al revés'.



And lastly you can see my third attempt, on top of the Deliplus polish I shared with you in my latest blog entry. This time around, I decided to use the Essence stampy in black and the image plate with geometric designs, none of which I had used so far. I had initially thought about doing the stamping the other way round: just on my ring finger, but I got hooked and it was the only nail I didn't decorate, so you could say it's a 'reverse accent nail' mani.

No me molesté en añadir una capa de topcoat para proteger el diseño, porque me las iba a despintar al día siguiente, pero si queréis que el diseño os dure tendríais que hacerlo. A mí se me borró parte al fregar y manejar alcohol.

I didn't bother with topcoat to protect the design since I was going to remove my polish the next day anyway, but if you want to make it last you definitely should. Part of it got 'erased' while doing the dishes and handling rubbing alcohol. ;)

Nuestras compras de Essence en Berlín (Parte 1) - Our Essence Berlin Haul (part 1)

Hoy estoy prolífica, pero es que os habíamos prometido ir desvelando las compritas que habíamos hecho en Berlín. Aquí tenéis lo mío y como podéis ver me he portado bien, demasiado bien.

I'm a very prolific blogger today, but we promised we'd uncover the purchases we'd made in Berlin. So here you are mine and as you can see I behaved pretty nicely, too nicely.

Supongo que en Alemania debe de pasar como en España, que las novedades no llegan con la misma rapidez a todas las ciudades, pero la verdad es que nos sorprendió un montón que ni las novedades de Essence ni las de Catrice hubiesen llegado aún a Berlin. A Hamburgo, gracias a Maluchi26 sí que sabíamos que lo habían hecho antes de marchar.

I guess that in Germany happens the same as in Spain, meaning that new products don't get everywhere at the same time, but the truth is we were shocked by the fact that none of the new releases -neither from Essence nor Catrice- were available in Berlin yet. They were in Hamburg and we knew that before leaving, thanks to Maluchi26.

Tenía muchas ganas de experimentar un poco con el tema de la estampación. Nos hicimos con el kit de Essence que venía en el número de Marzo de la revista Instyle, gracias a Teufeu, así que ahora nos hacían falta algunas placas.

I was very eager to play around with nail stamping. Thanks to Teufeu who spread the news, we grabbed one copy of the March Spanish issue of Instyle magazine that included the Essence nail stamping kit for free and now we were in need of some stamping plates.

Antes de marchar estuvimos probando el kit con algunos esmaltes que teníamos y conseguimos hacer algún diseño, con resultados mejores que otros dependiendo de los casos y teniendo en cuenta nuestra nula experiencia. Como sabíamos que el raspador que traen estos kits rayan las placas, usamos varios trozos de tarjeta de plástico (la antigua tarjeta del bus, para no mentir). Hace un par de días me decidí a abrir una de las nuevas placas, en concreto la de los motivos animales -lo siento, pero ambas placas tienen la misma referencia- y uno de los esmaltes especiales de Essence, el Stampy negro.

Before we left we tried the kit with some of our polishes and managed to create a few designs on our nails, with mixed results depending on the polish used and given our lack of experience. We knew already that the scraper included in these kits damaged the plates, so we used an old bus pass cut into pieces. A few days ago I decided to use one of the plates for the first time -the one with animal prints, both plates have the same reference, sorry- and one of the special stamping polishes, the one in black.

Resumiendo: nos costó Dios y ayuda conseguir transferir medio diseño en dos uñas. Supongo que todo es cuestión de práctica, pero pensábamos que con esto la cosa iba a ser coser y cantar. Y que conste que probamos con varios diseños.

In a nutshell: we took pains until we finally managed to transfer like half a design onto two nails. I guess it's just a matter of practice, but we thought it was going to be a piece of cake now and it was more like a nightmare. And yes, we did try different designs.



Me hubiera gustado hacerme con la placa de manicura francesa, pero ya fue un triunfo hacerme con estas dos. Soñaré con que la tengan en nuestro proveedor de Essence, que tiene pensado poner el mueble de tratamiento a mediados de abril -ya veremos si es verdad.

I would have liked to get the French manicure plate as well, but getting these two was hard enough as it was. If I'm reeaally lucky I'll might be able to get them from our Essence dealer, which is planning to bring the treatment display in mid-April -we'll see if that really happens or I'll have to dream on.
