Nuevo intercambio con Polish AMOR - New swap with Polish AMOR

Hace un par de semanas, Iris, del blog Polish AMOR, se puso en contacto con nosotras para que le ayudáramos a conseguir un esmalte que tenía en su lista de antojos. Por nuestra parte, como estamos ya bien servidas de esmaltes y aprovechando que casi todo es más barato en EEUU, le pedimos que nos consiguiera el Nail Envy en tamaño normal puesto que nos gustó la versión mini que probamos gracias a María de Todos los esmaltes son pocos. Las perfumerías IF lo venden también, sólo que por la friolera de 36 € (unos 47 dólares) que evidentemente, pasábamos de pagar. Marionnaud en otras ciudades, lo tiene por unos 10 euros menos, aunque aún así sigue siendo un robo. Ya habíamos decidido comprarlo por Ebay a un precio mucho más razonable cuando surgió este intercambio.

A few weeks ago, Iris from Polish AMOR contacted us in the hope that we could help her get her hands on one of the polishes in her wishlist. We, for our part, begin to have too many polishes and asked her to get us instead something that was way cheaper in the States, a full-size bottle of Nail Envy. We liked the mini we got from María from Todos los esmaltes son pocos. The local IF perfumeries & drugstores (and Marionnaud in other cities has it, about €10 cheaper) sell it here, but at an outrageous price tag of 36 EUR (about 47 USD) we obviously refused to pay. We had already decided to get it a lot more reasonably priced from Ebay when Iris e-mailed us.




Aparte del Nail Envy, Iris que es un sol, nos mandó unas cosillas más, a pares para no discutir. ;) Los dos miniesmaltes de Hard Candy no tienen referencia, ni nombre ni número.

Besides Nail Envy, Iris who's an angel, sent us some other goodies, in twos so we don't fight. The two Hard Candy minis don't have any reference, neither a name nor a number.

Hace unos días, María de Todos los esmaltes son pocos se puso en contacto de nuevo con nosotras para ofrecernos unos productos de Essence que a ella no le iban bien. Como a nosotras sí, decidimos adoptarlos inmediatamente y por fin han llegado a su nuevo hogar.

A few days ago, Maria from Todos los esmaltes son pocos contacted us and offered some Essence stuff she didn't have much use for. As we like those products, we agreed to adopt them straight away and so they're now in their new home.

En la parte de arriba de la foto veis el gel limpiador suave y la crema hidratante de lima y pepino, de la línea My Skin de Essence.

On the upper part of the pic you can see the soft cleansing gel and the moisturizing lime & cucumber cream, from the Essence My Skin range.

Aprovechando que hay tienda física de Skin79 en Madrid, le pedimos a María que nos enviara también unas muestras. Nos envió dos (así tenemos una para cada una y no reñimos, jeje), que son las que veis abajo en la foto.

Si nos gustan, cuando se acaben las BBCreams que tenemos, quizá compremos de esta marca.

Seizing the fact that there is a Skin79 store in Madrid, we asked María to send us some samples. She sent us two (so we have one for each and we don't fight, lol), as you see on the lower part of the pic.

If we like them, when we run out of the BB Creams we're using right now, we may try this brand.

Ahora os preguntaréis por qué el gel limpiador está envuelto en plástico de burbujas. Pues bien, es porque el envase tiene un pequeño defecto en la parte de arriba y se pierde producto. Y gracias a que María lo ha envuelto así, no ha llegado todo hecho un desastre. Eso sí, lo hemos pasado a un tarrito que teníamos por ahí vacío.

Now you're probably wondering why the cleansing gel is wrapped up in bubble wrap. Well, this is so because the pack has a slight flaw at the top and it leaks. It's just as well María had the forethought of wrapping it up like this and therefore prevented the mess. We've put that into one of the empty jars we had around, though.

Me parece que le estamos cogiendo el gustillo a esto de los intercambios. La verdad es que es una buena idea cuando queremos probar productos que no venden donde vivimos.

Poticamelleo y regalos de PolishAMOR - Stash deal and gifts from PolishAMOR

Hace unos meses Marox participó en el sorteo de una tarjeta regalo del blog de Emily's Nail Files de una tienda online americana, Apothica, que ganó. Por desgracia, al intentar hacerla efectiva, resultó que los gastos de envío a España eran desorbitados: más de 30 €.

Some months ago Marox entered a giveaway on Emily's Nail Files and won a giftcard from a US-based only beauty store, Apothica. Unfortunately, when we tried to redeem it found out the shipping costs to Spain were outrageous: more than 30 EUR.

Así que desde la tienda -de un trato excelente, todo sea dicho- sugirieron la posibilidad de cedérsela a otra persona que viviera en EEUU y eso fue lo que hicimos. Marox se puso en contacto con una de nuestras seguidoras y fiel comentarista, PolishAMOR para que aprovechara ella la tarjeta. Aún no la ha hecho efectiva ya que sus objetos de deseo no estaban en stock de momento y a cambio se ofreció a conseguirnos alguna cosa. Primeramente le dijimos que no, ya que la idea de cederle la tarjeta regalo no era con la esperanza de recibir nada a cambio, aunque tras mucho pensar, finalmente decidimos pedirle algún esmalte dorado no muy caro que sirviera para estampar, como el famoso 2030 de China Glaze.

So the store -kudos to the attentive customer service, btw- suggested donating the giftcard to a friend living in the States and that's what we did. Marox contacted one of our followers and loyal commenter, PolishAMOR so she could use it herself. She has not redeemed it yet as her lemmings were not in stock and she insisted on getting us something in return. We initially refused because that wasn't the plan when we offered her the giftcard, but after giving the matter some thought we said OK to her finding us a cheap polish that could make a good gold stamping polish, such as the famous 2030 from China Glaze.

Por lo visto el 2030 es ya difícil de encontrar, así que estuvo buscando posibles alternativas y encontró una que cumplía sobradamente en la marca Color Club. Se trata del esmalte 'Gingerbread Man' de una de las últimas colecciones de la marca.

Apparently 2030 is now becoming quite HTF, so she did some searching for a good substitute and found an excellent one in Color Club. It's called 'Gingerbread Man' and was released in one of the brand's latest collections.

La sorpresa llegó cuando siete días después nuestro "San Cartero" (al que ya le hemos obsequiado con una cajita de bombones por la cantidad de veces que nos sube cosas) nos trajo una cajita. ¿Una cajita para un esmalte? ¡Qué exagerada! ¿no? Pues SÍ, Iris es una exagerada. Si no nos creéis, mirad todo lo que embutió en la cajita.

Surprise came seven days letter when our dear postman (aka. St. Postman -who's already received a 'Thank you' box of chocolates from us) brought us a box. A box for one polish?? That's way too big!! Yes, Iris DID GO overboard and stuffed a gazillion stuff in said box. Check it out for yourselves if you don't believe us.

Según ella, tenía que aprovechar el franqueo y que estaban liquidando la colección 'Metro (Uptown)' de China Glaze. Sí, sí, excusas.

According to her, she had to make the most of the flat rate box and the fact that the China Glaze 'Metro (Uptown') collection was on clearance. Nay, that's just excuses!!

Todos los Esmaltes son Pocos - Intercambio / Swap

La semana pasada, María, una de nuestras seguidoras y habitual comentarista en nuestros post, se puso en contacto con nosotras. Seguro que conocéis su blog, Todos los Esmaltes son Pocos, en el que casi todos los días nos deleita con alguna manicura. Marox dejó algún comentario en su blog preguntando por el Nail Envy, ya que nuestro endurecedor de Mavala sí que endurece nuestras uñas pero no ha mejorado el capeado que sufrimos de vez en cuando. Como a María no le había dado resultado, se ofreció a mandárnoslo, así que de esta forma tan inesperada surgió nuestro segundo intercambio.

Last week, one of her followers and frequent commenter, María from the blog 'Todos los esmaltes son Pocos' contacted us. You've probably seen some of her almost daily manis or read her comments. Marox had left her a couple of comments asking whether her Nail Envy was any good, as our Mavala nail hardener does make our nails stronger but does not prevent our nails from flaking every now and then. Since Maria had not seen any improvement and was not using it, she offered to send it to us and that was how this unexpected second swap was born.

María enseñó ayer en este post lo que le mandamos: principalmente esmaltes de Basic, la marca de maquillaje de las droguerías alemanas Schlecker, ya que no hay ninguna en Madrid capital. Y en la siguiente foto, podéis ver lo que ella nos ha enviado.

Maria shared what we sent her on her latest post, mainly polishes from Basic, available from the German drugstores Schlecker that unfortunately for her, have no stores in Madrid city. And here's what we got from her.

Aparte del esmalte 'Enchanted Fairy' que Marox tenía en su lista de antojos, María nos mandó el citado Nail Envy y otro producto de OPI, el Chip Skip, que sirve para evitar el descascarillado del esmalte. En teoría, se utiliza antes incluso que la base. También nos ha enviado dos productos para cuidar las cutículas, uno de Mavala para ablandar las cutículas y poder retirarlas mejor y una crema de Deborah para mantenerlas suaves.

Besides the 'Enchanted Fairy' lacquer that Marox had on her wishlist, María also sent us the above mentioned Nail Envy and another OPI product, Chip Skip, to prevent your polish from chipping. In theory it can be used prior to painting your nails or using your basecoat. There are two other products to pamper our cuticles, one from Mavala to soften them and make them easier to push up and a cream from Deborah to keep them soft and smooth.

María tenía su Seche Vite muerto de risa y como sabe que a nosotras nos va bien, pues decidió buscarle un nuevo hogar. El producto de Essence es para prevenir el capeado de las uñas.

Maria had no use for her Seche Vite and was gathering dust so she decided to give it a second chance and sent it to a new home. The Essence nailcare product is supposed to help flaking nails.

Essence: C&G #36 - Mes del cáncer de mama / Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Essence Colour & Go #36 'Enchanted Fairy'

Con esta entrada, pretendo matar varios pájaros de un tiro, ya que hoy es miércoles y esta manicura es rosa, pero sobre todo, recordaros que este mes de octubre está dedicado al cáncer de mama. El cáncer de mama consiste en un crecimiento anormal y desordenado de las células de este tejido. Esta enfermedad afecta a millones de mujeres -y hombres, quizá los grandes olvidados- en todo el mundo. La tasa de curación depende en buena medida del tipo de tumor y de una detección precoz. No olvidéis explorar periódicamente vuestro pecho -después de la menstruación- y haceros las revisiones que vuestro médico estime conveniente. Tenéis más información sobre el cáncer de mama *aquí*.

With this post, I want to sort of kill several birds in one stone, as it's Wednesday today and this is a pink mani, but more importantly, I'd like to remind you October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. As any type of cancer, Breast cancer is the abnormal and malignant growth of tissue and affects millions of women -and men, the forgotten ones- worldwide. Prognosis and survival rate varies greatly depending on cancer type and detection stage. Don't forget to feel your breast for any lumps -after your period- and do the check-ups your doctor deems necessary.

Rara es la familia que se libra de padecer esta enfermedad. Nuestra madre es una de las afortunadas supervivientes, por partida doble. Tanto Marian como yo nos hacemos nuestras revisiones pertinentes, así que desde aquí os animamos a que así lo hagáis también. Ojalá llegue el día en que no sean necesarios los lazos rosas ni las campañas de concienciación como ésta.

Hardly any family can escape it. Our mother is among the lucky -twice- survivors. Both Marian and myself have regular check-ups and therefore encourage you to do the same. I wish the time comes when we don't need any pink ribbons or awareness iniciatives such as this.

Día 1: A los pocos minutos de tocar el cartero a la puerta ayer, ya estaba estrenando este esmalte. María, del blog "Todos los esmaltes son pocos" nos lo ha mandado como parte de un intercambio improvisado que hicimos la semana pasada y que os enseñaremos en otra entrada. He aplicado una capa del Nail Envy de OPI y cuando se ha secado, una generosa de este esmalte y Seche Vite, todo cortesía de María, que es un encanto. Podéis ver lo que le enviamos nosotras *aquí*.

La aplicación y el secado -acelerado con SV- dentro de lo habitual, bastante buenos.

Por la noche, el esmalte me pedía a gritos que le añadiera algo de estampación, así que lo hago en el índice y anular de la mano izquierda, en el índice con el 253 de Kiko (genial) y en el anular con el rosa de OPI (I'm Indi-a Mood for Love). En la derecha, repito con el de Kiko para el anular y pruebo con el Big Spender Wanted de Catrice. Después, aplico un poco del BTGN top sealer en esos dedos.

A la vista de los experimentos, de mejor a peor estampación: Kiko 253, Big Spender Wanted y OPI.

Day 1: Shortly after ripping open the package my postman brought me this morning, I was painting my nails with this polish. Maria, from the blog 'Todos los esmaltes son pocos / All the polishes are not enough' sent us this together with other goodies, as part of an impromptu swap we did last week. We'll show what she sent on a separate post. I applied one coat of Nail Envy by OPI and once dry, a good one of this and some Seche Vite, all courtesy of the lovely María. You can check out what we got for her *here*.

Application and drying time -sped up with some SV- as usual, quite good.

At night, this polish was screaming to be stamped, so I did two accent nails on my index and right fingers. For the left, I used Kiko 253 for the index (great!) and my pink OPI (I'm Indi-a Mood for Love) on the ring. For the right, I used the Kiko again on my ring and decided to give Big Spender Wanted from Catrice a try. I then applied a bit of the BTGN top sealer in those fingers.

After all this experimenting, the best to worst stamping results were achieved with Kiko 253, Big Spender Wanted and OPI respectively.

Intercambio con / Swap with: Spellbinding Nails

El mes pasado participamos por primera vez en un intercambio. La elegida fue Sarah Louise, una de nuestras primeras seguidoras y responsable del blog Spellbinding Nails en el que casi a diario nos ofrece coloridas manicuras creadas con alguna de las placas de estampación de su interminable y siempre creciente colección.
Pero Sarah ansiaba ampliar esa colección con dos placas más, en concreto con dos placas de Essence -marca, por cierto, que no se vende en el Reino Unido- algo difíciles de encontrar. En nuestro último viaje, marox se hizo en Kruidvat con un par para ella y compró otro pensando en un posible intercambio.

Last month we did a swap for the first time. Sarah Louise, one of our first followers and the person behind the blog Spellbinding Nails was the chosen one. In her blog, you'll find colourful and almost daily manis featuring designs from her endless (and evergrowing) image plate collection. But Sarah had set her eyes on two more plates for some time, in particular two of the Essence plates that happen to be a little bit HTF. Btw, Essence is not sold in the UK but thankfully for her, Marox got from Kruidvat a pair for herself and another one with a possible swap in mind.

Sarah nos ha mandado esmaltes de algunas de las marcas que podemos encontrar en el Reino Unido, como Models Own, o 17 y W7 de las droguerías Boots. Como teníamos ganas de tener un esmalte holográfico al estilo del de Gosh, Sarah nos ofreció como alternativa uno de Marks & Spencer que tiene muy buena pinta. No es tan superholográfico como el de Gosh, lo que por otra parte tiene sus ventajas, ya que así es más ponible.


Sarah has sent to us a few polishes from some of the brands available in the UK, such as Models Own, 17 or W7 from Boots. As we wanted to have a more linear holo like the now HTF Gosh Holographic, Sarah suggested this from Marks & Spencer as a good alternative and indeed it is. It looks very nice and though it's not as in-your-face holo like the Gosh one, so much the better, as it makes it much more wearable.

Pero su paquete no sólo contenía esmaltes: también nos ha mandado dos placas con unos diseños muy bonitos y que a buen seguro usaremos pronto. Cada una de ellas contiene diseños de dos tamaños, los más grandes son tan grandes que son perfectos para las uñas del dedo gordo del pie. Hay más cositas de nail art: unas pegatinas con forma de corazón del kit de 17 y unas ¿calcomanías al agua? de VivaLaNails. También nos ha mandado un rotulador con pincelito con aceite hidratante para uñas y cutículas, que Marian está deseando probar. También hay una bolsita zip con unos adornitos para las uñas muy cucos: gatitos, mariposas, etc. Supongo que se pegarán a la uña con un poco de pegamento o esmalte.

But her package did not contain merely nail varnish: she also sent us two image plates with some cute designs we'll probably use very soon. These contain designs in two different sizes, the biggest ones are so big that will work great to use on the big toe. There are more nail art items: heart-shaped stickers as part of the 17 nail art set and a couple of water decals?? from VivaLaNails. She also enclosed a nail care pen with a brush on one end with nourishing oils for cuticles and nails that Marian is very eager to try. There was also a small ziplock bag with the cutest nail décor ever: cats, butterflies, etc. I suppose they'll get stuck to the nails with some glue or nail polish.



Y como a nadie le amarga un dulce, pues nos mandó una bolsa de gominolas, que como véis, nos ha faltado tiempo para estrenar y hacerle el pertinente contol de calidad. Lo han aprobado con nota, jeje.

And as we say here, sweet things never made anyone bitter, so she also sent a bag of gummies that we couldn't help opening to perform the customary quality control. They passed with merit, lol.
