Nuestros esmaltes de Claire's / Our Claire's Nailpolishes: 74400

Hoy vengo con una entrada de archivo rapidita, con un esmalte que compramos hace tiempo en una de esas ofertas de Claire's. Como todos los esmaltes de la marca a la venta en España, no lleva nombre sino número: 74400.

I'm back with a quickie 'from the vault' post, to show you another of our Claire's polishes that Marian got a while ago during of the Claire's sales. As with the rest of polishes from the brand for sale here in Spain, it doesn't have a name but a number, 74400.

En las fotos, llevo una capa del Nail Envy de OPI y cuando ha secado, una capa generosa de este esmalte. Es un tono hielo, que aunque relativamente cubriente, deja ver claramente la linea de la uña. Nada más que decir al respecto. Viene con unas estrellitas en la tapa, que quizá algún día nos dé por usar para animar alguna manicura. O eso, o directamente, un franken.

In the pics, I have a coat of OPI's Nail Envy and once dry, I applied a generous coat of this polish. A winter, icy colour relatively opaque though with clearly VNL. Nothing else to say about it. It comes with a secret lid on the cap containing star glitter, that we may use one day to spice up a mani. Or why not, a franken with the polish.

Comparativa / Side-by-side comparison: Essence '#53 All Access' vs. China Glaze 'Emerald Fitzgerald'

Hace tiempo que no os traigo una comparativa en profundidad. En este caso la hago entre dos esmaltes de mi colección: el de Essence -que os enseñé hace poco en *este* post, lamentablemente hará unos dos años que fue retirado, mientras que el de China Glaze todavía podéis encontrarlo por Internet. El mío lo compré usado (casi nuevo) en Ebay España.

It's been a while since my last side-by-side comparison. This time I'm doing it with two polishes from my own collection: unfortunately the Essence polish that I shared with you *here* is long discontinued -at least two years- whereas the China Glaze lacquer is still available from e-retailers. I got mine (used, almost brand new) from Ebay Spain.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de base de Basic. En la izq. una capa del All Access en el pulgar, corazón y meñique, que aplico también en la derecha en los dedos índice y anular -donde al ser más espeso, se me rebela un poco en el lateral.

El de China Glaze lo aplico en la izq en el índice y anular, pero necesita dos capas o al menos capas más gruesas que el de Essence. En la dcha, el de China Glaze en pulgar, corazón y meñique, que de nuevo necesita capas más gruesas para conseguir un acabado uniforme.

Son muy, muy parecidos, aunque quizá el de China Glaze tiene un puntito azul, que hace que el tono verde del de Essence sea más intenso.

Day 1: At night, I apply one coat of my Basic basecoat. One coat of All Access in my left thumb, middle and pinky, also applied in my right index and ring fingers – I did have some problems on the side with it being thicker.

China Glaze is applied therefore onto my left index and ring fingers, but it takes two coats or at least thicker coats than the Essence. On the right hand, it is applied onto my thumb, middle and pinky, again needing thicker coats to get rid of bald spots.

These are very, very similar, though the CG one has blue undertones making the green in the Essence polish stand out more.

Día 4: Está aguantando bastante bien, ya que no llevo SV. El día anterior tocó mañana de limpieza y tengo algún pequeño desconchón en las uñas de la mano derecha, pero no se notan demasiado. Me lo quito ese día.

Day 4: This is holding up quite well, as I'm not wearing SV. After a house cleaning session the day before, my right hand shows some minor chipping, but not very noticeable. Took it off on Day 4.

Acabo de pintarme las uñas con un esmalte que me acaba de traer el cartero con otras cositas que ya os enseñaremos. Había pensado usar otro -me tocaba uno oscuro- pero estaba ahí el pobre pidiendo ser estrenado que no me pude resistir.

I just painted my nails with a polish the postman brought to me a few minutes ago with other goodies we'll share with you soon. I meant to use a different one today - it was time for a dark shade now- but this baby was looking at me begging to be used I just couldn't hold myself.

Hoy os enseño mis uñas de esta semana, con este esmalte de KIKO, el 318, que compré en Salamanca y que os enseñé aquí. Es un color que KIKO describe como malva claro, pero la verdad es que me resulta bastante difícil de describir.
Así que lo mejor es que lo veáis por vosotras mismas.

Today I'm showing you my nails for this week wearing this polish from KIKO, the shade #318, which I bought in Salamanca and showed you here. KIKO describes it as light mauve, but I really find this shade quite hard to describe. So, the best thing is to see it for yourselves.




Ya ni me acordaba de que no era la primera vez que uso este esmalte. Rebuscando entre mis fotos de archivo, encontré unas con este mismo esmalte que me hice en julio. Supongo que en su día pensé hacer una entrada y al final no la hice.

I almost forget that this is not the first time I've used this polish. I found in my hard drive some pics of this polish I took in July. I guess I thought of posting about it and I finally forgot to.

Para esta manicura me apliqué el gel de calcio de Basic, y tras dejarlo secar unos minutos, me dí dos capas finas de este esmalte. Encima, mi adorado Seche Vite.
La duración ha sido excelente. Si no recuerdo mal, creo que han sido 5 días, y ayer resistió una sesión de natación de 30 minutos, y la posterior ducha con lavado de pelo incluído.
Eso sí, después de eso, los pequeñísimos desconchones de los dedos índice y medio de la mano derecha se fueron haciendo cada vez más grandes.
¿Y la mano izquierda? Pues prácticamente intacta (como casi siempre), salvo algún pequeño desconchón.



For this mani I applied the calcium gel from Basic, and after letting it dry for a few minutes, I applied two thin coats of this polish. And my beloved Seche Vite on top. Its lasting time has been excellent. If I'm not wrong, I think I've been wearing this for 5 days, and yesterday it survived a 30-minute swimming session, and the subsequent shower and hair wash. But after that, the tiny chippings of my right hand index and middle finger became bigger and bigger. And what about my left hand? Well, almost intact (as usual), except for some tiny chipping.

Creo que 5 días son suficientes, así que ha llegado el momento de quitármelo y pensar en cuál va a ser el siguiente.

I think that 5 days are enough, so it's time to remove it and start thinking of the following one.

UDLS / NOTW - Essence Multidimension #72 'Found my Love'

Os presento mi primer esmalte lila/lavanda. La verdad es que tenía ganas de hacerme con uno, sobre todo viendo que esta temporada se llevan mucho los tonos pastel. Es curioso que tenga varios colores similares tipo vino, varios verdes oscuros -me he jurado comprar con más cabeza y de momento me estoy portando- pero que no tuviera ninguno pastel aún. Afortunadamente, me he ido haciendo con alguno últimamente y como no han sido de marcas muy caras, mejor, porque a este paso me arruino. Lo vistéis en * este * post sobre mis últimas compras de Essence.

Meet my first lilac/lavender polish. The truth is I was very eager to get my greedy hands on one, particularly after seeing pastels are 'in' this season. It's strange how I usually head straight for vampy shades like wine reds, dark greens and so on - I promised myself to use my brains when buying polishes from now on and I'm proud to say I'm behaving so far - and I had no pastels until now.

Thankfully I've been getting a few lately and it's just as well they were from affordable brands or otherwise I'll end up bankrupt at this rate. It was included in my latest Essence haul blogpost *here*.

La verdad es que este color me ha encantado y mi hermana está pensando en comprarse otro, aunque como de momento sigo en su casa, puede usar perfectamente el mío. Ya veis que no tenemos ningún problema en compartir. De hecho tiene unos cuantos pendientes de estrenar que me tientan, jeje. Lo único que no me ha gustado es que se me empezó a desconchar al día siguiente de pintarme las uñas, aunque no fue algo demasiado grave. No sé si ha sido casualidad o qué, así que estaré atenta cuando lo vuelva a usar.

I honestly love this one and so does my sis, who's contemplating getting one for herself, but as I'm still staying at her place, she's welcome to use mine whenever she wants. As you see, we really get on and don't mind sharing. Actually she has quite a few untrieds that are very tempting, lol. The only thing I didn't appreciate was that I got some minor chipping the next day. I don't know if it was pure coincidence or what, so I'll keep my eyes open the next time I use it.

Me las pinté un martes por la noche, aplicando primero una capa de mi base de P2, una cargadita de este esmalte y otra de SV. Cubre muy bien y no es difícil conseguir un acabado uniforme.

Sorpresa, sorpresa, el miércoles por la tarde descubro un primer desconchón, en el pulgar de la mano derecha. No es muy grave, pero sí me parece digno de mención.

El jueves por la mañana, el índice derecho y el anular izquierdo han decidido unirse al 'club de los desconchones'. Por la tarde, decido darle un último cambio de look ya que no aguantarán mucho más y de paso sigo practicando mis dotes de estampación. Lo hago únicamente en dos dedos de cada mano: en la izquierda con dos tonos distintos, con el de Kiko gris que aunque estampa bien, no resalta nada sobre éste y le cojo prestado su 'Poison me, Poison You' de Catrice a mi hermana para el resto. Aún no lo ha estrenado, pero para estampación me ha dejado alucinada lo bien que ha funcionado, aunque el LWF se había portado muy bien también. Matifico con el topcoat de Fairwind esas dos uñas, aunque las que tenían el diseño más reciente se 'corre' un poco. Lo sé, tengo poca paciencia y tenía que haber esperado un poquito más, como me aconsejó mi hermana.

Como no iba a aguantar mucho más, me lo quité al día siguiente.

I painted my nails on a Tuesday night, first with one coat of P2's Base and then a thick one of this and topped with some SV. It's very pigmented and gives you an even coverage.

Surprise, surprise, I discovered some minor chipping on the edge of my right thumbnail. Not too big, but worthy of mention.

On Thursday morning, both my right index and left ring finger have decided to join the 'chip club'. In the evening I gave it a makeover to extend this mani a little bit longer and have another go at stamping to improve my skills. I did it just on two nails in each hand: I used two different shades in my left hand; my pale grey from Kiko that did well though did not stand out at all with this base and my sister's 'Poison me, Poison You' that I borrowed from her. It's still in her untrieds but did beautifully for the stamping on this one. I got a very neat design with it that left me quite speechless. LFF did great as well. I gave those nails a matte finish with Fairwind's topcoat that I got from Schlecker a while ago. I should have waited a little longer as my sister advised, because the designs that were the most tender did smear or 'bleed' a bit. I know, I have no patience whatsoever.

It wouldn't have lasted much longer, so I took it off the next day.

Valoración: esmalte muy bonito pero empezó a desconcharse antes de lo que esperaba. Estaré al loro la próxima vez, a ver qué tal se porta.

Overview: very pretty polish though started chipping earlier than expected. Will keep an eye on that the next time.

UDLS / NOTW - H&M 'Hunt me Down'

Hoy os traigo el que es hasta el momento, mi único esmalte de la marca H&M. Era un tono que tenía en mi wishlist, y por una vez, me mantuve firme y no me dejé llevar para terminar comprando algún otro tono similar a otros que ya tengo, como los que os hemos enseñado en nuestros 'Parecidos Razonables'. Efectivamente, el Hunt me Down (me parto con los nombrecitos de los esmaltes) es un tono único, similar al Khaki Vert de Chanel, un verde militar que una vez puesto, queda muy elegante.

I have another polish for you today, my first and only H&M to date. It was a colour I had in my wishlist and just for once I stayed strong and stuck to this one, instead of grabbing another shade that will most likely end up being a close dupe to others in my stash -and later in our 'Reasonable Lookalikes' series. Hunt me Down -polish names crack me up, lol- is indeed a unique colour in my collection, similar to the famous Khaki Vert from Chanel, a military green that looks very elegant when you put it on.

Si os gusta este tono y no os apetece gastaros el pastizal que cuesta el de Chanel -unos 22 €- el de H&M puede ser una buena alternativa, aunque no la única. Contiene 9ml/0,3 fl. oz. de producto y cuesta 3,95€. Si al igual que yo, en vuestra ciudad no hay H&M, tenéis otras opciones. Cuando estuvimos en Madrid, en Kiko vi una gama de tonos militares entre las nuevas lacas de uñas que ha sacado la marca, y que, al menos de momento, están rebajadas a 2,50 €. En Essence que yo sepa, no existe algo similar, al menos en la línea permanente actual.

If you like the colour but don't want to pay the small fortune the Chanel costs -at around €22 is not exactly budget-friendly, the H&M is a good option. It gives you 9ml/0.3 fl oz of product and is €3.95. It's not the only alternative, there's a similar shade among the new releases from Kiko that I remember seeing in Madrid and luckily the price tag for those has gone down to €2.50. How long that will last I don't know. As far as I'm aware of, I haven't seen any dupes from Essence, or at least not in their current permanent collection.

Me pinté las uñas con él un domingo por la noche, aplicando antes una capa de la base de P2. Utilicé una capa generosa del Hunt me Down y rematé con una de Seche Vite. Antes de echarlo, me dio la impresión de que el esmalte quedaría con mucho brillo aún sin él. La aplicación sin problemas, aunque la forma tan poco 'ergonómica' del tapón se me hizo un poco incómoda respecto a otras marcas. Nada grave, en cualquier caso.

I painted my nails with this on a Sunday evening, applying first one coat of P2's 'Base and Care Coat'. I used one thick layer of Hunt me Down and topped it all with some Seche Vite. Before doing so, I thought the polish was very glossy all on its own. Application was flawless, despite the odd shape of the cap, slightly more difficult to handle than those from other brands I've used. Nothing to worry about, though.

Los primeros desconchones empezaron a aparecer el martes por la tarde, en el pulgar izquierdo y en el dedo corazón de la mano derecha. Otras uñas 'amenazaban' con desconcharse pronto. Por la noche, me puse a experimentar con la estampación y usé uno de los diseños con motivos animales de una de las placas de Essence, que ya había usado otras veces. Lo hice en todos los dedos salvo en los anulares y usé para ello el esmalte gris de Kiko que compartí con vosotras aquí. El de Kiko estampa bastante bien, aunque yo necesito más práctica, evidentemente. Me cuesta algo más transferir los diseños de uña completa que los motivos más pequeños. En los dedos en los que hice estampación, apliqué una capa del top coat mate de Fairwind, que compré en Schlecker. No forma parte de su línea permanente, así que si buscáis algo similar y no os importa pagar un poquitín más, tenéis el de Essence y el de Claire's.

The first signs of chipping began to appear on Tuesday evening, on my left thumb and right middle finger. Other nails were 'threatening' to get chipped soon. At night, I decided to play around with my stamping set and used one of the designs on the Essence animal print plate that I'd used before. I did all my fingers except my ring ones and used the grey Kiko lacquer I showed you here for stamping. The Kiko makes a nice stamping polish though I definitely need more practice. I have a harder time transferring a full nail design onto my nails than a small one. In the nails I stamped, I applied one coat of mattifying topcoat -Fairwind from Schlecker in my case. It's not in their permanent range, so if you're looking for something similar you can try Essence or Claire's instead.

A última hora de ese mismo día, tengo un gran desconchón en la uña del dedo corazón derecho, probablemente por haber matificado -me ha pasado otras veces-.

Al día siguiente, miércoles, me las despinto, ya que me iba a lavar el pelo, pero no sin antes hacer unas fotos rapiditas.

Later that day, I have a huge chip in my right middle finger, probably because of mattifying -it's happened before. The next day, Wednesday I removed it because I was going to wash my hair, but managed to do a quick photoshoot before that.

Resumiendo, me ha gustado mi primer esmalte de H&M y quizá no sea el último, aunque procuraré controlarme y escoger únicamente aquellos tonos 'especiales' que no pueda encontrar en otra marca más baratita como Essence, que en relación calidad-precio, para mí no tiene competencia.

Los productos de maquillaje de H&M no están disponibles en todas las tiendas, sólo en algunas. Probablemente, cuando abra Beautik en Salamanca me dé una vuelta por allí, puesto que el de la calle Toro -o Zamora, que nunca las distingo- sí que tiene y está muy cerca del futuro Beautik.

To sum up, I really liked my first H&M polish and most likely won't be my last, though I'll try to restrain myself and only choose those 'special' shades I can't find in a cheaper brand like Essence, which are excellent value for money imo -and no contest, probably. H&M make-up line is not available in all their stores, just in some. I'll probably check these out again when the Beautik store in Salamanca opens early in the summer, because the store at Calle Toro -or Zamora, I can never tell one street from the other- does carry them and is pretty close.

Today I'm showing you my "nails of the week" (until a few hours ago).
I used the Essence polish, from the Blossoms LE, in the shade 02 'I like', which I bought a few days ago, as you already know.



Me dí una capa de base (Basic), una capa gruesa de este esmalte, y encima, mi adorado Seche Vite.

I applied a layer of base coat (Basic), a thick coat of this polish, and my beloved Seche Vite on top.

Esta manicura me ha durado 5 días, y en la mano izquierda me habría durado más, porque las uñas estaban intactas, sin ningún desconchón (y eso después de haberme lavado el pelo ayer). Pero en la mano derecha, las uñas de los tres primeros dedos estaban todas desconchadas, y ya no se podía apurar más.



This mani has lasted for 5 days, and would probably have lasted longer on my left hand, because the nails were intact, without any chipping (even after having my hair washed yesterday).
But on my right hand, the first three fingernails were all chipped, so I couldn't keep this anymore.

Así que le doy un sobresaliente a este esmalte.

So my grade for this polish is... a big A.

Here I am (again) with my latest purchases from Essence. It was a pleasure to see such a full display, it was hard to resist the temptation of taking all that stuff home with me, but I had to behave.

Well, it's much better to see them, so here is the picture.


Me compré el esmalte de la Blossoms en el tono 02 "I like", que de todos los de esta edición limitada, fue el que más me gustó. También me compré la colonia. Tiene un olor floral, así que me parece perfecta para el verano.

I bought the polish in the shade 02 'I like', from the Blossoms LE, because it was the one I liked the most. I also bought the perfume. It has a floral scent, so I think it's perfect for the summer.

Como veis, he sido muy comedida, porque si no, llegará un momento en que no tenga sitio para guardar tantos potis.

As you can notice, I've been very self-restrained, because if I'm not, I may not have where to store all that makeup.

Hoy os traigo el esmalte que compré por duplicado, para mí y para mi hermana el día antes de ir a Madrid. La verdad es que tenía muchas ganas de estrenarlo, después de llevar casi dos meses babeando ante la pantalla cada vez que lo veía en algún blog.

I have another Essence for you today, the polish I bought for both myself and my sister the day before going to Madrid. The truth is I was very eager to paint my nails with this one, after maybe almost two months spent drooling in front of the computer screen everytime I saw it on a blog.

No me ha decepcionado en absoluto, es un color muy especial. Que yo sepa, es el primer esmalte duocromo/multimatices o como lo queráis llamar que saca Essence. Es morado, pero según le dé la luz también es verde e incluso gris. Y si encima es baratito, como son los esmaltes de Essence, mejor que mejor. Catrice sacó uno parecido, el '#490 Iron Mermaiden', pero por lo que he leido, hablan mejor de éste de Essence que del otro. En cualquier caso, Essence es mucho más fácil de conseguir, así que por mí perfecto.

Es una pasada de bonito, no podía dejar de mirarme las manos y mover los dedos para ver los distintos colores, como una cría pequeña, jeje.

Hoy justo he visto unas fotos de The Swatchaholic (aquí), y definitivamente las lacas de uñas de la Holographics no son holográficas sino duocromo, así que si os gustan ese tipo de tonos estad atentas.

This polish has definitely lived up to my expectations. It's a very special colour. As far as I'm aware of it's the first duochrome released by Essence. It's purple, but also green and even grey depending on the light. And if it's cheap, as Essence lacquers are, so much the better. Catrice released a similar shade called #490 'Iron Mermaiden', but from what I've read the reviews for that are not as good as those for this Essence. Anyway, Essence is more readily available, so that suits me just fine.

It's to die for, I couldn't stop looking at my hands and moving my fingers to see the different colours in it, like a small girl, haha.

I just saw some pics from The Swatchaholic *here* and the polishes to be released in the Holographics LE are definitely not holos but duochrome, so if you like these kind of shades you'd better check those out.

Me pinté las uñas con él el viernes por la tarde. Primero puse una capa de la base de P2, dos del WitP? para que cubriera más y una de SV para darle más brillo y duración.

El domingo por la mañana descubrí el primer desconchón, en el dedo pulgar de la mano derecha, antes de ponerme a hacer las tareas de la casa.

Al día siguiente, lunes, por la mañana vi el segundo desconchón, en el dedo medio de la mano derecha. Me las despinté antes de lavarme el pelo -quizá podría haber apurado un poco más – pero no iban a aguantar de todos modos.

I painted my nails with this one on Friday evening. I applied one coat of Base from P2, then two of WitP? for a full coverage and then one of SV for extra shine and durability.

On Sunday morning I discovered the first signs of chipping, on my right-hand thumb, before I started doing the housechores.

Then the following day, on Monday morning, the polish in the middle finger of my right hand got chipped too. I removed it before washing my hair -I could have kept this a little longer- but they were not going to survive it anyway.

Essence ha sacado al menos otro esmalte duocromo, en tonos azules y tengo la duda de si el 'Read-y to go' -de los C&G - también puede serlo. Quizá si alguna lo tiene, pueda sacarme de la duda. Justo hoy hemos estado en Bustillo, la tienda que vende Essence aquí y lo he tenido en la mano. En el fondo del bote se ven varios colores, pero claro, eso no significa necesariamente que sea duocromo.

Essence released at least another duochrome in blue and I suspect 'Read-y to to go', also from the Colour & Go line is too. Maybe if you happen to have it you could tell me whether or not I'm in the wrong. We went to Bustillo, our Essence supplier today and I had it in my hands. If you look at it upside down, you do get to see different colours at the bottom but obviously that does not necesarily mean it's duochrome.

Y ahora algo diferente, nuestra CDD. ¿Y eso qué es? ¿Nuestro careto del día? Noo. Nuestra cena del día, bueno de anoche, que olvidé insertar en la entrada en un primer momento y tuve el tiempo justo de subir antes de que se 'cayera' blogger. Una deliciosa pizza casera, hecha con nuestras manitas, masa y todo.

And now, something different. Our DOTD. And wtf is that? Our dork-face of the day? Noo. Our dinner of the day, well last night's, which I forgot to upload when I first posted this and barely had enough time to do so right before blogger was down. A deliciously yummy homemade pizza, made with our very hands, dough and all.

Parecidos Razonables / Reasonable Lookalikes (IV): Catrice 'Clay-ton, My Hero' & Rival de Loop #51

Esta entrega de 'Parecidos razonables' corre de mi cuenta, puesto que se trata de dos esmaltes de mi colección. Así que os dejo con unas fotos para que veáis el gran parecido entre estos dos esmaltes. Quizá estaría bien usar los dos en una misma manicura.

I'll be doing the next comparison in our 'Reasonable Lookalikes' series, since both polishes are part of my collection. I have a few pics for you to see how similar these two polishes are. It may be a good idea to use the two in the same mani.

Como ya comenté en las entradas de las compras en Berlín, ya sabía del gran parecido existente en estos dos esmaltes. Pero como el esmalte de Catrice era uno de los que se estaban retirando y no sabía si iba a llegar a tiempo de hacerme con él, el de Rival de Loop era mi plan B.

Aunque el CMH de Catrice me encanta, si tuviera que elegir, creo que me quedaría con el de RdL. El brillo dorado que tiene es más visible, tanto en el frasco como en las uñas. Recuerdo que cuando hice los 'chuaches' en la rueda, el de RdL me pareció bastante soso y pensé que en las uñas ese brillito tan bonito brillaría por su ausencia.

As I mentioned in my Berlin haul entries, I knew there was a strong likeness between the two. But the Catrice one was being discontinued and I didn't know if I'd get there to get it on time, so the Rival de Loop one was my Plan B.

As much as I like CMH from Catrice, if I had to choose I think I would pick the RdL one. The golden shimmer to it is more visible, both in the bottle and on the nails. I remember doing the swatches on my nailwheels and thinking how flat it seemed and I wrongly assumed that all that gorgeous shimmer would get lost on the way.

En cuanto a la relación calidad-precio, gana Rival de Loop y probablemente resulte ya imposible en cualquier caso haceros con el de Catrice, así que si en algún viaje os encontráis con un stand de esta marca, echadle un vistazo, porque a buen seguro que encontraréis algún color que os enamore.

La verdad es que es alucinante la cantidad y la calidad de marcas alemanas. Lo más parecido -aunque con mucha diferencia- en España sería la marca Deliplus de Mercadona, de la que ya os hablé aquí, pero lo ideal sería que hubiera otras cuantas más como esa. Afortunadamente, ya no hace falta gastarse un pastón para poner un poquito de color en nuestro tocador.

As far as value for money is concerned, the Rival de Loop wins and anyway it will probably be next to impossible now to get the Catrice, so if you ever find a RdL display on one of your travels, check it out because you will definitely find a shade you'll fall in love with.

I'm amazed at the amount and quality of low-cost German brands. The Spanish equivalent but not in the same league would be Deliplus from Mercadona, which I've talked about already, but the thing we should have more brands to choose from. It's fantastic not having to spend a fortune anymore just to add some colour to your vanity case.

UDLS/NOTW: Claire's #289?

Aquí estoy de nuevo.
Lo prometido es deuda, así que os traigo una nueva entrega de "Uñas de la Semana", presentándoos la versión de Claire's del "Paradoxal" de Chanel.
En el título del post digo que es el número 289, aunque en realidad, no estoy segura. Este número está escrito en la etiqueta, en la parte donde se detallan todos los ingredientes, y en el que tiene mi hermana, también está ese mismo número; por eso he deducido que se trata de la referencia, pero la verdad es que no lo sé. Aviso de esto porque no quiero inducir a nadie a error.

Bueno, hechas las aclaraciones, creo que lo mejor es que lo veáis.

Here I am again. As I promised, I bring you a new entry of 'Nails of the Week', showing you the Chanel's 'Paradoxal' version by Claire's. On the title of the post I'm saying that it's number 289, even though I'm not completely sure. This number is written on the label, where all the ingredients are detailed, and this number also appears on my sister's bottle; that's why I've assumed this is the reference number, but the truth is that I don't know. I'm warning you about this because I don't want to lead anybody into error. Well, once everything is clarified, I think it's better to see it.



La aplicación de este esmalte es muy buena, así como su cobertura. En la foto llevo una capa del Base Coat de Basic (Schlecker), una capa gruesa de esmalte, y como top coat, mi adorado Seche Vite, de cuya existencia supe gracias a mi hermana; y como sabe que me gusta tanto, me regaló otro de tamaño normal (hasta ahora tenía el de tamaño mini). Pero sigo usando el pequeño para que no se me estropee.

The application of this polish is very good, as well as its coverage. In the pic I'm wearing the Base Coat by Basic (Schlecker), a thick coat of polish, and my beloved Seche Vite on top, whose existence I knew thanks to my sister; since she knows that I like it so much, she gave me another one normal-sized (I just had the mini one until now). I'm still using the smallest one so it doesn't go bad.

En cuanto a la duración, desde que me lo apliqué el jueves por la noche, a día de hoy (domingo), en mi mano izquierda está intacto. En la derecha, tengo algún pequeño desconchón en las uñas de los dedos índice y medio.

And talking about lasting, since I applied it on Thursday night (today it's Sunday), it's intact on my left hand. On the right one, the polish got chipped on my index and middle finger nails.

Bueno, espero que os haya gustado este "Uñas de la Semana", sobre todo a Salander (espero que lo estrenes pronto y nos lo enseñes también) y a Gadirroja (que sé que tenía ganas de ver esta entrada).

UDLS / NOTW: Catrice '230 Clay-ton, My Hero'.

Es curioso como éste esmalte, que de todos los de Catrice que había visto antes del viaje a Berlín, era el que más enamorada me tenía, curiosamente ha sido el último que he estrenado. Empecé por el LWF, seguí con BSW y finalmente ha sido el turno de CMH.

Como todos los esmaltes de Catrice, contienen 10 ml / 0,34 fl. de producto. Como ya os comenté, lo compré en una perfumería Douglas. Debería haberme costado 1,45 € al tratarse de uno de los productos que iban a ser retirados. Pero como tenía claro que esta belleza se volvería a España con su mami, no me importó pagar 2,50 € por él.

It's strange how this polish from Catrice has ended up being the last one I've used. Of all the Catrice colours I had been scouting around the Internet before we left for Berlin, this was the one with the most pulling power for me. But then I started with LWF, went on to BSW until I finally reached for CMH.

All Catrice nail polishes contain 10 ml/0.34 fl of product. Like I mentioned in previous posts, I purchased this at a Douglas perfumerie. It should have cost € 1.45, because it was one of the products to be discontinued. As I was pretty sure this beauty would come home to mummy in Spain, I didn't mind paying the full price, € 2.50.

En las fotos, si la memoria no me falla, llevo una capa del esmalte base de P2 'Base & Care Coat', seguida de una capa generosa del '230 Clay-ton my Hero' y de Seche Vite, para darle un mayor brillo y duración. Me duró puesto lo habitual, si bien me ha sucedido algo curioso: tuve un pequeño desconchón en el dedo índice de la mano izquierda, mientras que en la derecha tan sólo aprecié algo de desgaste en las puntas. Curioso siendo diestra, ¿no?.

If my memory serves me right, in the pictures I'm wearing a coat of the 'Base & Care Coat' from P2 and a thick coat of '230 Clay-ton my Hero', topped with another one of Seche Vite for increased durability and shine. This lasted the usual but I noticed something odd: I had some minor chipping on my left hand index finger, whereas my right hand only showed some minor tipwear. Odd being right-handed as I am, don't you think?.

La aplicación fue buena, el pincel se maneja muy bien y los reflejos que vemos en el bote se trasladan a las uñas, si no en su totalidad, al menos en gran parte. Ya os presenté otra entrada un posible clon, el #51 de Rival de Loop. Haré mi primera aportación a nuestra serie de 'Parecidos razonables' con estos dos esmaltes.

Application was good, the brush is easy to work with and the gold shimmer we see on the bottle makes it to our nails, if not entirely at least to a great extent. I mentioned in a previous post that Rival de Loop's #51 is a possible dupe for this one. It will be my first contribution to our 'Reasonable Look-alikes' series.

Hoy ha hecho un día bastante lluvioso, aunque en estos momentos ha aclarado y está saliendo el sol (a buenas horas). Así que como esta tarde la he pasado en casita, me he dedicado a preparar entradas que tenía pendientes.
En esta que hoy os traigo veréis las compras de maquillaje que hice en Madrid.

Today it's been quite a rainy day, although it's clearer now and the sun is shining (it's a bit late for that, isn't it?). Since I've spent the afternoon at home, I decided to prepare some posts I had on queue.
In today's you can see my make-up haul in Madrid.


Los esmaltes que veis son, de izquierda a derecha: el 242 'Ametista Perlato' de KIKO, el 300 'Verde Malachite Perlato', también de KIKO, uno de Claire's, del que no estoy segura de qué número tiene (no sé si alguien sabe dónde encontrar el número), y el esmalte de H&M en el tono Midnight Passion.
Como veis, de 4 esmaltes, 2 han sido rojos: el de H&M en un rojo sólido, y el de KIKO con brillos, más "fiestero".

Detrás de los esmaltes, podéis ver el jabón que me compré. Éste es de algas. No es el primero que me compro de este tipo. El año pasado en los Sampedros (las fiestas de Burgos, y las llamamos así porque se celebra San Pedro y San Pablo), compré varios como éste en unos puestecillos: 2 para mí y otros 2 para mi hermana. Como nos han encantado (y se van gastando), había que reponer, así que decidimos aprovechar la ocasión. El precio fue de 5 € por 2 jabones.

The nail polishes you can see, from left to right, are: the '242 - Ametista Perlato' from KIKO, the '300 -Verde Malachite Perlato', also from KIKO, another one from Claire's whose number I'm not quite sure about (does anybody know where to find the number?), and the polish from H&M called 'Midnight Passion'.
As you can see, 2 of the 4 nail polishes I bought are red: the one from H&M in a fast red, and the one from KIKO is red with shimmer, more appropiate for party time.

Behind the polishes, you can see the soap I bought (seaweed soap). This is not the first soap I have bought of this brand. Last year, at 'Sampedros' (Burgos local Holidays, and we call them that way because we honour both St. Peter and St. Paul), I bought some at a street market stall: 2 for me and 2 for my sister. We fell in love with this kind of soap, (and we've run out of them), so we decided to seize the chance to stock up. We paid €5 for 2 soap bars.

De todo lo que compré en Madrid, sólo he usado el esmalte de Claire's. Tenía ganas de probar su versión del "Paradoxal" de Chanel, y pudimos hacernos con él gracias a Salander. Me encanta el color que tiene, y cómo los reflejos que tiene se hacen visibles con la luz.
Haré otra entrada sobre él para que veáis cómo queda.

From everything I bought in Madrid, I've only used the Claire's nailpolish. I was willing to try their version of 'Paradoxal' from Chanel. We managed to find it thanks to Salander. I love its colour, and how its reflections become visible depending on the light. I'll upload another post, so you can see how it looks.

UDLS / NOTW – Orly 'Space Cadet'

Por fin os traigo el estreno triunfal de mi 'autorregalo' de cumpleaños. Podéis leer los detalles sobre el vendedor aquí.

Se trata de un color único, con muchos matices y difícil de describir: es un esmalte duocromo pero 'foil'. Me resultó ligeramente transparente: tuve que aplicar tres capas para darle la opacidad suficiente, aunque al poco de aplicarlo da la sensación de que 'crece' y cubre más. Esa misma sensación también la tengo con el 'Midnight Kiss' de ChG, del que ya os hablé hace tiempo. No sé si será algo común a los esmaltes de acabado 'foil'.

It's a really unique colour, with lots of nuances and hard to describe. It's a duochrome but a foil at the same time. I found it slightly sheer-ish: I had to give it three coats for my desired opacity, though shortly after application it seems to 'grow' and develop a better coverage somehow. I get the same feeling whenever I've used my 'Midnight Kiss' from ChG I introduced to you long ago. I don't know if this is a common feature of foil polishes.

Apliqué una capa generosa de base, tres de este esmalte y una de Seche Vite. Con este esmalte, sí que he apreciado el 'encogimiento' en las puntas del que suele hablar otra gente que usa este producto. La duración de momento está siendo buena: me las pinté el jueves por la tarde y me duraron hasta hoy domingo por la mañana, ya que rara vez soportan una mañana de tareas domésticas o lavarme el pelo. Tuve un pequeño accidente en dos uñas de la mano derecha, al abrir la paletona de Claire's para pintarme. El cierre es tan fuerte que hay que aplicarse a fondo para abrirlo y aunque el esmalte estaba seco, estaba aún algo tierno. Normalmente, en la mano derecha me suelen quedar las capas de esmalte más gruesas, al ser diestra.

I applied a generous layer of base coat, three of this polish and another one of Seche Vite. With this polish I did experience the famous 'shrinking' at the tips people who use SV talk about. Durability is good so far: I painted them on Thrusday evening and they did extremely well until today, Sunday morning. My manis seldom pass the test of housechores or a hair wash. I had a minor accident in two nails on my right hand, when trying to prise open my Claire's palette to do my makeup. The closure is so strong that you have to make a thorough effort to get it open. The polish on my right hand was dry but a bit tender still. I usually tend to apply thicker coats on my right hand, being right-handed.

Ha costado quitarlo, aunque usé el método del papel aluminio del que había oído hablar. Las uñas quedaron un poco manchadas por el esmalte, pero se ha arreglado lavándolas bien y frotándolas con un cepillo con un poco de pasta de dientes. Después, he aplicado un poco de aceite de almendras.

It was a bit tricky to remove, though I used the aluminium foil method I'd read about. My nails were slightly stained by the polish, but it was easily fixed with a thorough was and rubbing them with a brush and some toothpaste. I then applied some sweet almond oil for moisturizing.

Es un esmalte muy bonito, tal y como pudo comprobar Salander en persona. El bote es enorme, así que durará una barbaridad.

It's a gorgeous polish, as Salander could see for herself when we met IRL. The bottle is huge and will last a lifetime.

UDLS/NOTW: Essence 'Gold Rush'.

Para no mentir, estas serían mis uñas de la semana pasada. La manicura que veis está hecha con el esmalte de Essence "Gold Rush" de la línea Colour & Go, que compré antes de que retiraran el mueble con la discontinuación.

Well, to be honest this is actually last week's nails. This mani was done with the 'Gold Rush' Essence polish, from the Colour & Go line, which I bought right before the old display was taken away.



Como es un color claro, me apliqué como base el gel de calcio de Basic, de Schlecker, dos capas de esmalte, y encima una capa de Seche Vite. Y es que desde que descubrí el Seche Vite, gracias a mi hermana, ya no uso otro; por lo menos, para las manos.

Since this is a light colour, I used my Calcium Gel from Schlecker as a base, two coats of polish and then another one of Seche Vite on top. The truth is that since I discovered Seche Vite, thanks to my sister, I don't use anything else, at least for my hands.

Esta manicura no me duró tanto como me gustaría; sólo 3 días, más o menos. En las fotos, sale mi mano izquierda, porque la derecha estaba ya hecha un desastre. Las fotos fueron justo antes de quitarme el esmalte.

This mani didn't last as long as I wished it would; just 3 days, more or less. In the pics, you get to see my left hand, because the right one was a mess by then. Pics were taken right before removing it.

Me gustan estos colores claros para manicuras discretas, así que creo que lo voy a usar bastante. Con una vez no es suficiente para formarme una opinión, así que le daré otra oportunidad (otra de muchas más).

I like light colours for discreet manis, so I think I'll use it quite a lot. Once is not enough to build an opinion, so I'll give it another chance (another one and many more).

Parecidos razonables (parte 3)- Reasonable lookalikes (part 3).

Bueno, aquí os traigo otra entrega de "Parecidos Razonables". Creo que no será la última, y es que mi hermana ya está pensando en futuras entregas. Además, como tenemos previsto comprar más esmaltes, quién sabe.
Se me ocurre que más adelante podemos comparar también sombras de ojos o labiales.

En esta ocasión os enseño los esmaltes de P2 "Soulful" y de Catrice "Lost in Mud". Son muy parecidos a los anteriores que os enseñé, también en tonos topo, pero estos son ligeramente más oscuros.
Lo mejor es que lo comprobéis por vosotras mismas, así que os dejo con la foto.



Well, I'm back with another comparison post for our 'Reasonable Lookalikes' series. There will probably be more, as my sister is already thinking about a few others. Besides, we'll be buying some more polishes soon, so who knows.
I'm thinking that maybe we could compare eyeshadows and lipsticks in the future.

This time I'm bringing you 'Soulful' from P2 and 'Lost in Mud' from Catrice. They're similar to the other ones I shared with you previously, they're also taupe but slightly darker.

Mi autorregalo de cumpleaños - My 'Happy Birthday to me' present

Hoy cumplo un año más -hay que ver lo rápido que pasa el tiempo- y siempre tengo por costumbre regalarme algo a mi misma por estas fechas. Este año, y como ya os adelanté en el post de mi wishlist, me pedí un esmalte de uñas que me enamoró desde que lo vi. Aproveché la ocasión para pedir un frasco de Seche Vite para mi hermana y un Seche Restore -el único diluyente apto para el SV- para mí.

It's my birthday today -time does fly, let me tell you- and I always make myself a present to celebrate the occasion. This year, as I let slip in my wishlist blogpost, I ordered a nail polish I fell in love with from the moment I saw it. I also ordered some neccessities, like a bottle of Seche Vite for my sister and another one of Seche Restore -the only thinner to be used with SV- for me.



En la foto podéis ver lo que compré para mí. El esmalte no he tenido ocasión de estrenarlo y además, esa preciosidad se merece un post aparte. De lo único que os puedo hablar hasta el momento, es del vendedor. Estos productos los compré en Ebay, al vendedor Strawberryfieldsforever029. Creo recordar que era el que en ese momento tenía el Seche Restore y el esmalte de uñas al mejor precio, no así el Seche Vite.

In the picture you can see what I got myself. I haven't had the time to use the polish yet, and anyway, this beauty deserves a post of its own. The only thing I can tell you about is the seller. I bought these products off Ebay, from the seller strawberryfieldsforever029. I seem to recall it had the lowest price on both nail polish and Seche Restore, not so much on the Seche Vite.

Precios: El Space Cadet de Orly me costó 7,50 $, el Seche Restore fueron 4,95 $ y el SV 5,95 $. Los gastos de envío por los tres artículos fueron de 8,95 $. Creo recordar que el vendedor me rebajó 1 $ respecto al total.

Prices: Space Cadet was US $ 7.50, Seche Restore $4.95 and SV $5.95. Shipping costs for the three were $ 8.95. I think I got a 1 $ off discount for the combined shipping from the seller.

El paquete llegó mientras estaba de vacaciones en casa de mis padres, bien protegidos con papel de burbujas el esmalte y el Seche Vite, y el Seche Restore aparte en su cajita. Todo vino dentro de una caja de cartón. ¿Otro reciclaje a la vista?

Package came while I was on holiday at my parents', nail polish and SV well protected in bubble wrap and Seche Restore in its box. It all came in a cardboard box. Another DIY coming up maybe? Umm.

Hice el pago el día 8 de abril y ese mismo día salió. Llegó 10 días después, un tiempo aceptable viniendo de Estados Unidos, aunque tampoco especialmente rápido -creo que el récord lo tengo en 5/6 días desde EEUU.

I made the payment on April 8th and it was shipped the same day. It arrived 10 days later, an acceptable time considering it came all the way from the States, but not particularly quickly - I think my record is 5/6 days from the US.

Estoy deseando estrenarlo. En otro orden de cosas, aprovechando que ya no tengo 'compromisos laborales' desde hace un par de días y que mi hermana tiene varios días libres, haremos una escapada a los Madriles este viernes. Queríamos mirar zapatos de flamenco (otro de mis regalos) y no me fío sólo con verlos por Internet, necesito probármelos y comprobar si cumplen los requisitos que necesito. De paso, a ver si nos hacemos con alguna de las novedades de Essence, que aún no han llegado aquí. ¡Ya les vale a los de Bustillo!

I'm really eager to wear my Space Cadet for the first time. Moving on to something else, since I have no more 'work engagements' and my sister has a couple of days off, we'll spend next Friday in Madrid. We want to look at some flamenco shoes (another present) and I'd never buy them just from a photo online, I need to try some on and see if they meet my criteria. While we are there, we'll see if we can get our hands on some of the Essence new products, which are still not available here. It's about time our Essence supplier, Bustillo, had them!!
