Hazlo tú: De vaqueros a funda de cojín - DIY: From jeans to cushion cover.

Hola de nuevo: Hacía ya mucho tiempo que no os traía un "hazlo tú". Éste que os enseño ahora lo hice hace unos meses. He hecho algunas fotos con el paso a paso, para explicaros cómo lo hice. Estos son los vaqueros que he utilizado para este proyecto. Recuerdo habéroslos enseñado en una entrada de compras varias. Me los puse muchísimo, porque me encantaban; pero como veis, el tejido de la parte de arriba de ambas perneras se ha dado de sí, y ya no se veían bien. Se podría decir que ya lo han dado todo... como pantalones vaqueros. Pero como me gustaban tanto, les voy a dar una segunda vida. Lo primero que hice fue cortar la cinturilla. La tengo guardada, pero todavía no sé para qué la utilizaré. A continuación, corté la tela donde van los bolsillos traseros, y corté también la costura que une ambas partes, y el exceso de tela, pues quiero que los bolsillos estén rectos. Encaro los derechos de ambos trozos de tela, fijo con pinzas y paso una costura recta y a continuación otra en zig-zag, para evitar que se deshilache el tejido. Después corto el exceso de tela de los extremos, para que quede recto. Como quiero que los bolsillos queden en el centro de la funda de cojín, voy uniendo trozos de tela tanto en la parte de arriba como en la de abajo. A continuación le doy la vuelta a la tela, y hago los dobladillos en los extremos de la tela. Después, superpongo un extremo de la tela sobre el otro, para hacer la solapa por donde vamos a meter el relleno del cojín. Una vez hecho esto, pasamos una costura recta y otra en zig-zag en los bordes de la tela, para cerrar la funda. ¡Y ya la tenemos! Le damos la vuelta a la funda, metemos el relleno, y listo. ¿Qué os ha parecido? La verdad es que aunque son muchos pasos a seguir, es bastante fácil. Creo recordar que la hice en una tarde. Y no es la primera que he hecho. Antes de ésta, hice otra para Marox con unos vaqueros suyos que ya lo habían dado todo también.

Hi again, Here I am with a new DIY. It's been quite a long time since the last one I shared with you. I made this one some months ago. I took some pictures of the process, so I could explain to you how I did it. These are the jeans I used for this project. I remember showing them in a Haul post when I bought them. I wore them a lot, because I liked them so much., but as you can see, the fabric on the pant legs is all stretchy now, so they don't look good anymore. They could no longer be used as jeans, so I decided to repurpose them into something else and thus give them a second life. First of all, I cut the waist band. I kept it, but I still don't know what I will be using that for. After that, I cut the piece of fabric where the back pockets are, as well as the seam in between, and all the excess fabric, as I want the pockets to be straight. Face right sides of both pieces of fabric, pin with clips and sew with a straight stitch first, and a zig-zag stitch afterwards, to prevent fraying. Then I cut off the excess fabric on the other side for it to be straight. As I wanted the pockets to be in the centre of the cushion cover, I added pieces of fabric to both upper and lower sides. Now turn the long piece of fabric upside down, right sides together, and do the hem on both edges. After that, I placed one edge over the other to make the flap. Once this step is done, sew with a straight stitch and a zig-zag stitch, to close the cushion cover. Now turn the pillowcase inside out, put the stuffing in, and you're done! What do you think? Although there are many steps to follow, it's quite easy to do. If memory serves, I finished it in the same day. It's not the first one I made. The first one was for Marox, with a pair of jeans she wasn't using anymore either.

Hazlo tú / DIY: mascarillas / face masks.

Hola de nuevo, chicas:

Hacía mucho que no os traía ninguna entrada de costura.

Sé que no es ninguna novedad hacer una entrada de confección de mascarillas, pero dado que van a ser un complemento más de ahora en adelante, por lo menos hacerlas un poco bonitas.

Al principio las hacía con tela de uniformes viejos, y eran muy toscas, porque las hice al inicio del confinamiento con el material que tenía en casa.

Ahora he pulido la técnica, y estas mascarillas ya se pueden enseñar.

La idea surgió tras leer una entrada del blog de *Saruski*, y me animé a hacerlas.

El patrón lo he descargado del blog de Entremanos, y para documentarme bien, vi su vídeo en Youtube.
He seguido bastante fielmente las instrucciones que Paz nos da en su vídeo, aunque he introducido una pequeña variación; y es que yo he cosido las gomas.

Tranquilas, que ahora os explico el paso a paso.

Estas mascarillas llevan un pequeño bolso para meter un filtro.

Cortamos tres piezas de tela: dos iguales para el exterior y el interior de la mascarilla, y otra más estrecha para el bolsillo (para ello doblamos el patrón por las líneas).



Cortamos también dos trozos de goma, de unos 15 cm cada uno.

En primer lugar, cosemos las pinzas de cada una de las piezas de tela.
En la pieza de tela del bolsillo, cosemos también el dobladillo de los dos laterales.



A continuación, ponemos la pieza de tela del bolsillo encima de la pieza de tela del interior de la mascarilla. Hacemos coincidir las costuras de las pinzas.
Para no confundiros, las dos piezas deben quedar con el derecho hacia arriba.


Después ponemos la pieza del exterior de la mascarilla encima de las otras dos. Pero esta vez, con el derecho hacia abajo.
Hacemos coincidir las costuras de las pinzas, y fijamos con alfileres para que no se mueva.



Ahora cosemos los laterales, pero antes, metemos uno de los extremos de las tiras de goma.
Cosemos el lateral, y antes de terminar, colocamos el final de la tira de goma para coserlo.
Cosemos el contorno de la mascarilla, y llegamos al otro lateral.
Colocamos la goma, pero esta vez cosemos sólo los extremos, donde va la goma, dejando un hueco en el medio, para poder dar la vuelta a la mascarilla.
Cosemos el otro lado de la mascarilla.

Ahora le damos la vuelta. Nos aseguramos de sacar bien toda la tela hasta la costura. Nos podemos ayudar de un alfiler, o con los dedos.

Empezamos cosiendo el lado por el que le hemos dado la vuelta. Metemos los extremos de la tela hacia dentro, y cosemos.
A continuación, cosemos todo alrededor, lo más pegado al borde posible.
Para ello, yo he cambiado el prensatelas normal de la máquina, por el de coser cremalleras.



¡Ya está! Mascarilla terminada.



Tengo un montón de restos de tela de otros proyectos, así que tengo tarea.

It's been a really long time since I had a DIY -sewing post for you.

It's hardly surprising to upload a post on how to make reusable face masks these days, but since they're now part of the new normal, let's make the most of it and at least put on something that looks nice.

At first, I made them repurposing old white uniforms and they were fairly basic since I made those using whatever I had at home in the first days of the lockdown.

I've now perfected the technique and I'm ready to share with the world the latest ones I've sewn. 

I came up with the idea after reading a post from Saruski's blog, and I decided to make them.  

I downloaded the pattern from the blog 'Entremanos' and watched her YouTube video.

I followed her instructions quite faithfully, but with a small variation: I sewed the elastic.



Don't panic. Here's the step by step.

These face masks have a small pocket to put a filter.

Cut three pieces of fabric: two of the same size (one for the outer part, and the other for the inner one), and the last one is narrower (this will be the pocket).
To cut this last piece, just fold the pattern along the lines.

Cut two pieces of elastic (about 15 cm each).

First of all, sew the darts of all the pieces of fabric.
Sew also the hem on both sides of the piece of fabric for the pocket.



Now place the piece of fabric for the pocket on the piece of fabric for the inner side of the mask.
The seams of the darts must be one just above the other.
Make sure both pieces of fabric are right sides up.

After that, place the other piece of fabric over the other two. But this time, the wrong side up. 
Put pins on the seams of the darts on every piece of fabric.


Now sew the sides, but before that, put the elastic in, sew the side and before finishing, put the other side of the elastic in place to sew it.
Sew with a straight stitch all around the mask until you get to the other side.
Place the other elastic, but this time just sew the edges, leaving a gap in the middle to turn the mask inside out.
Sew the other long side of the mask. 

Now turn the mask inside out, making sure to take all the fabric out to the seam.
You can do this with a pin, or with your fingers.

Start sewing the 'unsewn' side, turning the edges of the fabric inside.
Sew with a straight stitch all around, as close to the edge as you possibly can.
I changed the universal presser foot for the zipper presser foot.

Ta dah! Here's the finished face mask.





I have a lot of fabric scraps left from other projects to make more masks, so I have a lot of work to do if I want to.

Mis regalos y autorregalos de cumpleaños - My birthday gifts and gifts to self.

Hola, chicas:

Hace unas semanas fue mi cumpleaños y quería enseñaros lo que me regalaron.

Empezamos con los regalos de mis padres.

1- Camiseta fucsia con estampado de hojas.
Me encanta el color que tiene, sobre todo para el verano. Llega de largo hasta la mitad de la cadera.



2- Vestido efecto "arrugado".
Lleva telas de diferentes tonos y estampados.
Me encanta el efecto arrugado, porque siempre está perfecto. Con este tipo de prendas puedes ir "arreglá pero informal".

3- Camiseta efecto "superposición".
Queda muy favorecedora, y la tela es muy fresquita.



Ahora seguimos con los regalos de Marox.

4- Paleta de Kiko "Jelly Jungle".
Por su tamaño y el número de sombras que trae, me recuerda a aquella de Essence, de la edición limitada "I love Berlin" (que todavía tengo).
Ya la he estrenado (bueno, no todos los colores).
Resulta una buena opción para llevar de viaje.

5- Camiseta "I can freeze time..."
Como supondréis, el lema de la camiseta me encanta. Además, me queda muy bien.
En la foto no se ve, pero tiene unas aberturas en la parte superior de las mangas que dejan los hombros al descubierto. La compró en Aliexpress.



6- Pulsera "I shoot RAW".
Ha sido un regalo acertadísimo, porque en mi caso, el lema es cierto: Disparo en RAW.
Tanto este como el anterior pueden ser buenos regalos para amantes de la fotografía.
La pulsera me queda un pelín grande (supongo que está pensada para chicos, aunque no entiendo muy bien por qué). La compró en Ebay.

7- Libro "Hello Glow", de Stephanie Gerber.
Otro acierto, sin duda.
Es un libro con recetas para hacer tus propios productos de cosmética. Me lo leí entero en un par de tardes (eso que está en inglés). Está genial. Ya compartiré alguna recetita con vosotras. Me lo compró en Amazon.

Y ahora voy con mis autorregalos.

8- Funda protectora para maleta.
La compré en AliExpress, y está disponible en varios tamaños. Tiene aberturas para las asas y el arnés, así que podré llevarla protegida sin tener que envolverla en plástico.
Además, reconoceré mi equipaje fácilmente, ¿no os parece?
Marox quiere una para ella también. 



9- Esponja para limpiar brochas de maquillaje.
Hasta ahora, para quitar los restos de sombra de las brochas, siempre utilizaba un poco de papel, y ¡hala! a tirar.
Con esta esponja puedo quitar los restos de sombra, y cuando esté sucia, la lavo... y lista para usar otra vez.
Me parece una idea genial. Marox se compró una y me encantó cuando la probé, así que decidí comprar una para mí.
La compré en AliExpress.

My birthday was a few weeks ago, so today I would like to show you my gifts.

Let's start with the gifts from my parents.

1- Fuchsia tank top with leaves print.
I love the colour, mainly for summer.
It is mid-hip length.

2- Dress with wrinkled effect.
It's made of a fabric with different shades and prints.
I love the wrinkled effect, because it's always perfect. You can wear these kind of garments and get that 'smart but informal look'.




3- Overlap effect T-shirt.
It fits really well, and the fabric is fresh.

Now let's move onto Marox's gifts.

4- Kiko 'Jelly Jungle' eyeshadow palette.
For both its size and the number of eyeshadows it contains, it reminds me of that one from the LE 'I love Berlin' from Essence (which I still have).
I've already used it (well, not all the shades).
I think it's an excellent option to carry with you when travelling.



5- 'I can freeze time...' T-shirt.
As you can guess, I love the slogan on the t-shirt. Besides, it fits me really well.
You can't see this in the pic, but it has two slits on the upper part of the sleeves, so the shoulders are uncovered.

6- 'I shoot RAW' bracelet.
It awas a complete hit, because the slogan is so true for me: I shoot RAW.
Both this one and the other one above could be perfect gifts for those photography lovers out there.
The bracelet is a bit big for me (I guess it's men's sized, but I don't know why).
She got off Ebay.

7- 'Hello Glow' book, from Stephanie Gerber.
She nailed it again.
It's a book with recipes to make your own cosmetics. I read it in a couple of afternoons (not too bad, to be written in English). It's great. I'll share with you the recipes I make.




And now, it's time to see my gifts to self.

8- Protective Case for luggage.
I bought it from AliExpress, and it's available in different sizes. It has openings for the handles, so I could cover it for better protection, without wrapping it in plastic.
Besides, I'll recognize my luggage easily, don't you think?
Marox said she wants one herself. 

9- Cleansing sponge for make-up brushes.
I always used a piece of paper to clean my brushes from eyeshadows up until now.
Now, with this sponge I can clean my brushes. When the sponge is dirty, I'll wash it... and ready to go!
It's a great idea. Marox bought one, and I love it whenever I've tried it, so I decided to buy another one for myself.
Mine was from AliExpress.

Hazlo tú/DIY: Bálsamo desmaquillante / Cleansing balm.

Hola, chicas:

Aquí os traigo otro "hazlo tú" de cosmética hecha en casa.

En esta ocasión he hecho un bálsamo desmaquillante, que le he regalado a Marox por su cumpleaños.

Para hacerlo me he inspirado en *este* video.

Os recomiendo que veáis el video (en español, con una receta de un libro en inglés), porque yo he hecho alguna variación.
Quizá os gustan más sus ingredientes que los míos, jeje.

Ingredientes:

*40 gr de manteca de karité.
*40 gr de aceite de oliva virgen extra.
*1 cucharadita de glicerina.
*2 cucharaditas de cera de abejas.
*vitamina E.
*Aceites esenciales: yo he usado de árbol de té y eucalipto (una gota de cada uno).



Obviamente, podéis adaptar las cantidades según la capacidad del envase que vayáis a utilizar.
Yo lo he hecho, porque he reutilizado un envase de otro bálsamo desmaquillante de The Body Shop.

Preparación.

Pon una cazuela con dos dedos de agua a fuego suave.
Dentro, y en un recipiente que aguante el calor, añadir la manteca, el aceite, la glicerina y la cera de abejas.
Una vez esté todo derretido, retirar del fuego, y pasados unos minutos, añadir la vitamina E y los aceites esenciales.



Verter en el envase definitivo.
Cuando se enfríe, se solidificará.

Como veis, no puede ser más fácil de hacer.
Quizá me anime a hacerme otro para mí.

Here I am with another DIY, this time for homemade skincare.
a cleansing balm that I gave Marox for her birthday.

I got my inspiration from *this* video.

I recommend you to watch the video -in Spanish, but she uses a recipe from an English book- because there are some small differences between her recipe and mine.
Maybe you'll like her ingredients better than mine, lol.

Ingredients:

*40 gr of shea butter.
*40 gr of extra virgin olive oil.
*1 teaspoon of glycerin.
*2 teaspoons of beeswax.
*vitamin E.
*Essential oils: I used tea tree and eucalyptus (one drop of each one).

You can adapt the amount of the ingredients depending on the capacity of the container you're using.
And that's exactly what I did because I reused a jar from a cleansing balm from The Body Shop.

Preparation.

Put some water on a pot -enough to cover the bottom, about an inch deep- and heat it on a low fire.
Inside the pot, get a heatproof container and pour the oil, the butter, glycerin and beeswax inside this second container. We'll melt all the ingredients using the double boiler method.



When everything is evenly melted, set aside for a few minutes until it cools down. Then add your vitamin E and the essential oils.
Pour into your desired container.
By the time it cools off, it will become solid.



As you can see, making your own cleansing balm couldn't be any easier.
I may make another batch for myself.

Hazlo tú/DIY: Desodorante roll-on / Roll-on deodorant.

Hola, chicas:

Hacía algún tiempo que no os traía ninguna entrada de cosmética natural hecha en casa.

En esta ocasión os traigo una receta para hacer desodorante roll-on, que vi en *este* video.
Tenía un par de envases que he reutilizado (otra forma de ayudar al medio ambiente).

Estos son los ingredientes que vais a necesitar.

*100 ml de agua destilada.
*1 cucharada de semillas de lino.
*1 cucharada de bicarbonato de sodio.
*Aceites esenciales (opcional).

Preparación.

En primer lugar, poner el agua destilada en un cacito, y llevarla a ebullición.
Cuando rompa a hervir, añadir las semillas de lino, y remover sin parar.
Mientras tanto, en otro recipiente (preferiblemente de vidrio, para que aguante bien el calor) añadir el bicarbonato de sodio.




En unos 5 minutos, veréis que empieza a formarse una gelatina.
En ese momento, apagad el fuego, y colad la mezcla con un colador (mejor si los agujeros no son muy pequeños).
Remover con rapidez para que la gelatina baje a través del colador.
Ahora, remover sin parar hasta que la mezcla se integre perfectamente.



Dejar enfriar antes de pasarla al envase definitivo.
Una vez en el envase, añadir las gotas de aceite esencial, si lo queréis con perfume.
Yo eché 2 gotas de aceite esencial de lavanda y 13 de aceite esencial de jazmín.
Colocad la bolita del roll-on, agitad bien... y ¡listo para usar!

¿A que es fácil de hacer? Ya me contaréis si os animáis a hacer vuestro propio desodorante en casa.

It's been quite a long time since my last homemade cosmetics recipe.

This time I'd like to share with you how to make your own roll-on deodorant, something that I saw *here*.
I had a couple of bottles I reused (it's another way to help the environment, isn't it?)

These are the ingredients you will need:

*100 ml of distilled water.
*1 tablespoon of flax seeds.
*1 tablespoon of baking soda.
*Essential oils (optional).

Preparation.

First of all, put the distilled water into a pot, and bring it to a boil.
When it starts boiling, add the flax seeds and keep stirring.




Meanwhile, in another container (glass is best, as we'll be pouring a hot liquid into it) add the baking soda.
In 5 minutes time, you'll see that the boiling water with the seeds gets the texture of jelly.
Now turn off the stove, drain the mixture and pour through a strainer (one with medium-sized holes is best).
Mix thoroughly until you see the jelly falling down.



Now, don't stop mixing until it is evenly blended.
Let it cool before pouring it into the final container.



Once inside it, add a few drops of the essential oils if you want your deodorant to be scented.
I added 2 drops of lavender essential oil, and 13 of jasmine essential oil.
Put the roll-on ball, shake, shake, shake... and it's ready to use!

Hazlo tú / DIY: Body spray casero / Homemade body spray.

Aquí vengo con otra receta de cosmética para hacer en casa.

Ya sabéis que me encantan los body sprays, así que, ¿por qué no hacerlo yo?

Cuando vi *este* video me decidí, puesto que eran cosas que tenía en casa.

Ingredientes:

*1/2 taza de agua purificada o mineral (yo he usado agua destilada).
*Vodka: 4 cucharadas soperas (yo he usado alcohol de 96º).
*Aceite esencial que nos guste: 20 gotas.
Yo he usado el de jazmín, que me encanta.

He aprovechado el envase de otro body spray que se me terminó (el de Bath&Body Works).
He tenido que adaptar la receta a la capacidad del envase que he utilizado (más pequeño). Nada que unas cuantas cuentas no puedan solucionar.

Al agitar el frasco para mezclar bien todos los ingredientes, el líquido se ha vuelto blanco. Parece que he echado leche desnatada. Pero lo que importa es que huele muy bien.

You know that I love body sprays, so why not making one myself?

When I watched *this* video, I decided to make it, because I already had all the ingredients.

You'll need:

*1/2 cup of purified or mineral water (I used distilled water).
*Vodka: 4 tablespoons (I used alcohol 96º).
*20 drops of your preferred essential oil.
I used jasmine essential oil, which I love.

I reused the bottle of the Bath&Body Works body spray that I used up a few days ago.
I had to adapt the recipe to the capacity of the bottle I used (too small for the amounts given).
But it's as easily fixed as doing the math.




When I shook the bottle to mix all the ingredients, the liquid became white. It seems like I put skimmed milk in it.
But the most important thing is that it smells great.

Hazlo tú/DIY: Pasta de dientes - Toothpaste.

Hola, chicas:

Después de buscar en Internet varias recetas para hacer pasta de dientes casera, aquí os traigo ésta que quiero compartir con vosotras.

Ingredientes:

*2 cucharadas de aceite de coco.
*2 cucharadas de bicarbonato de sodio (yo he usado un poco menos).
*10-15 gotas de aceite esencial de menta: éste es de uso interno. Lo compré en *esta* tienda, de la que ya os hablaré.
*10 gotas de Stevia líquida.

El aceite de coco es sólido a temperatura ambiente. Así que, para que nos resulte más fácil mezclar todos los ingredientes, he metido el botecito de cristal en el estaba haciendo la mezcla (y que será el envase definitivo) en el microondas durante unos segundos a máxima potencia.
Yo lo puse sólo 10 segundos. No se trata de que se vuelva líquido, y mucho menos de que hierva. Simplemente es para que se derrita lo suficiente como para que podamos mezclar bien todos los ingredientes. Lo he mezclado con una espátula de plástico.

Y esto es todo. Así de fácil y rápido podéis hacer vuestra propia pasta de dientes en casa.

La textura es un poco extraña, acostumbrados como estamos a las pastas de dientes comerciales, pero no me ha resultado un inconveniente en absoluto.

Así que si os gusta hacer vuestra propia cosmética y tenéis los ingredients, animaos con esta receta.

After searching the Internet for several homemade toothpaste recipes, here's this one I'd like to share with you.

Ingredients.

* 2 tbps coconut oil
* 2 tbps bicarbonate of soda (I used a little less)
* 10-15 drops of mint essential oil - mine is suitable for consumption. I bought it from *this* store I'll talk about soon.
*10 drops of liquid Stevia.

Coconut oil is solid at room temperature.
So, to mix all the ingredients more easily, I put the small glass bottle I was mixing them in into the microwave for a few seconds at maximum power. Just 10 seconds.
The point isn't to melt or bring the coconut oil to boil. It's just meant to make all the ingredients easier to mix. I used a plastic spatula for that.




And that's it. You can make your own toothpaste at home. Quick and easy.

Maybe the texture is a bit weird for a toothpaste, but it works great. You'll get used to it soon. It's not a con at all.

Hazlo tú/DIY: Jabón líquido para la lavadora - Liquid laundry detergent.

Hola, chicas:

En esta ocasión voy a compartir con vosotras esta receta que vi en *este* video, sobre cómo hacer jabón líquido para la lavadora.
Casero, y más respetuoso con el medio ambiente que los comerciales.

Para hacerlo necesitaréis:

*150 gr de jabón de Castilla: sí, ese que se hace con sosa cáustica, agua y aceite reciclado.
*1 litro de agua.

Tenía unas cuantas porciones de jabón de Castilla, pues hace años, mi madre hizo jabón "del de toda la vida".
Este jabón es genial para eliminar de la ropa las manchas rebeldes, antes de meterla en la lavadora.

Para hacer este jabón líquido, primero hay que rallar el jabón de Castilla. Yo, para ir más rápido, he utilizado la Thermomix.




Después, poned a hervir el agua. Cuando esté hirviendo, tenéis que verter el jabón ya triturado y remover hasta que se disuelva.




Según se va enfriando, va adquiriendo una consistencia más espesa. Ya sólo tenéis que echarlo en el envase definitivo.
Yo he aprovechado los envases vacíos del detergente líquido comercial.
Así, reutilizamos envases.

Bueno, después de echarlo en el envase definitivo y que se terminara de enfriar, se quedó como una gelatina, y no había manera de utilizarlo, porque aquello no se movía.
¿Solución? He añadido más agua, he puesto el envase junto al radiador (últimamente me está dando más servicio que sólo para calentar la casa), y sólo he tenido que agitar la botella, y listo para usar.
Ya lo he usado y la ropa ha quedado muy limpia.

Today I'd like to share with you this recipe that I spotted in *this* video on how to make liquid laundry detergent for your washer. It's homemade and more environmentally friendly than store-bought ones.

To make it you'll need:

*150 gr of Castille soap: yep, the one you make with caustic soda, water and reused oil.
*1 litre water

I had a few Castille soap bars lying around that my mum made some years ago.
This soap is great at removing stains as a prewash treatment.

In order to make this detergent, first you need to grate the soap bar. To speed up this step, I used the Thermomix food processor.

I then put water to the boil. When it reaches boiling point, it's time to add in the soap and then stir until it melts off.



As soon as it cools off, the mixture becomes thicker. All you need to do now is pour it into your desired container.
I reused an empty store-bought laundry detergent bottle. That way, we kill two birds in one stone.

Well, after pouring it into the desired bottle and letting it cool off, it got a jelly-like texture, so I couldn't use it.
How did I fix it? By adding more water. After that, I put the bottle next to the radiator (it's doing more things than just heating the house lately), and then I just had to shake the bottle, and it was ready to use.
I've already used it, and it works great.
If I find another recipe for liquid laundry detergent -one that is truly liquid- I'll share it with you in another post. I'll keep on researching.

Hazlo tú/receta: Yogur natural... sin yogurtera - DIY/recipe: Natural yoghourt... without yoghourt maker.

Hola, chicas:

Esta entrada es al mismo tiempo un Hazlo tú y una receta, como bien dice el título.

Ya sabíamos que se puede hacer yogur natural en casa, pero necesitábamos una yogurtera.
¡Hala! Otro artilugio más en la cocina al que buscarle sitio.
Y las cocinas de ahora no son muy grandes que digamos, ¿verdad?

Por eso, cuando vi *este* video en YouTube, se me ocurrieron dos cosas: la primera, probar a hacerlo yo; la segunda, compartirlo con vosotras.

Después de hacer yogur natural por primera vez sin yogurtera, unos me quedaron mejor que otros, y he descubierto por qué.
Así que ahora os cuento cómo tenéis que hacer para que os queden perfectos a la primera.

Para hacer los yogures necesitaréis:

*Un yogur natural.
*Un litro de leche (entera o desnatada, como queráis). Yo he usado leche desnatada.

Se bate el litro de leche junto con el yogur natural. Se vierte en vasitos pequeños (yo he utilizado cuencos pequeños de cerámica, tarros pequeños de cristal...).

Y ahora... (redoble de tambor), se ponen los vasitos encima del radiador y se tapan con un trapo limpio, dejándolos aproximadamente 8 horas.

Al cabo de esas 8 horas tendréis unos yogures estupendos, que podéis endulzar como queráis, añadir frutas o mermelada.
Lo que se os ocurra.

No me diréis que no es una idea fantástica.

This post is a 2-in-1, a Do It Yourself and a recipe at the same time.

We all know you can make yoghourt at home, but it requires having a machine.
Yes, one more kitchen appliance to find room for. And today's kitchens are more often than not on the small side, aren't they?

That's why when I watched *this* YouTube video I got the idea to try it myself and then to share it with you all.

After making yoghourt for the first time without a machine some turned out better than others and I think I know why.
So, let me give you my tips so you nail them on your first try.

To make yoghourt you'll need:

*125 gr of natural yoghourt.
*1 litre of milk (either skimmed or whole milk). I used skimmed milk.

Blend the yoghourt and the milk together.
Pour into small jars or bowls (I used small pottery bowls, small glass bottles and so on).

And now... (drumroll), put the bowls on a radiator, and cover them with a clean cloth. Leave them settle for about 8 hours.




After that, you'll have made delicious yoghourt. You can sweeten them to your taste, add fruit or jam... you can add anything you like.

It's a great idea, isn't it?

Hazlo tú: Jabón de glicerina, aceite de oliva, aloe vera y manzanilla -DIY: glicerin, olive oil, aloe vera and chamomile soap.

Hola, chicas:

Aquí os traemos otro "Hazlo tú", que sé que os gustan.
Hemos hecho nuestra propia versión de la receta original, que encontramos *aquí*.

Para hacer esta receta necesitaréis:

*Una pastilla de jabón de glicerina.
*Media hoja de aloe vera (la pulpa).
*70 ml de aceite de oliva virgen extra.
*60 ml de agua (para hacer la infusión).
*Un poco de manzanilla.
*Un buen chorro de miel.

En primer lugar, disculpad que no haya foto de todos los ingredientes. Os juro que los preparé todos para hacer la foto, pero luego se me olvidó.

Haced la infusión de manzanilla.
Mientras tanto, fundid el jabón de glicerina. Cortadlo primero en cuadraditos y poned en un recipiente que pueda ir al microondas. Vigilad que no hierva.

Añadimos la miel, la pulpa de aloe vera, la infusión y el aceite de oliva. Batid con la minipimer.



Para dar forma a las pastillas de jabón, meted la mezcla en moldes de silicona, y dejad enfriar.
Para que os hagáis una idea, los hice por la tarde, y los dejé enfriando toda la noche.
Al día siguiente, los desmoldé.

Han quedado monísimos. Ya nos contaréis cómo os han quedado si los hacéis.

Here we are with a new DIY, because I know you like them.
We've made our own version from the original recipe, which you can find *here*.

To make this recipe you will need:

*A bar of glicerin soap.
*1/2 leaf of aloe vera (the pulp).
*70 ml of extra virgin olive oil.
*60 ml of water.
*A bit of chamomile.
*A good stir of honey.

First of all, forgive me because I forgot to take a picture of all the ingredients together. I swear that I prepared everyting for the pic, but then I forgot.

Make the chamomile tea.
Meanwhile, melt the glicerin soap.
Cut it first into small squares and put in a microwave safe bowl.
Make sure it doesn't boil.



Add the honey, the aloe vera pulp, the tea and the olive oil. Mix with a blender.

To give your soap bars a cute shape, pour the mixture into silicone moulds, and let it cool.
To give you an overview, I made them in the evening, and I let them cool overnight.
I unmolded them the following day.
