Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry Haul 2019 (V).

Hola, chicas:

Aquí estoy para enseñaros mis últimas compras.

1 - Revista Elle pocket, octubre (marox): Por 1,95 merecía hacerse con ella, puesto que traía un pack de dos esmaltes mini de OPI. El mío venía con cajita, con los nombres de cada esmalte. He visto por Internet que en otros sitios los esmaltes venían únicamente en una bandejita interior de plástico, sin nombres ni nada.
No descarto hacerme con algún ejemplar más, si es que quedan.

2 - Revista Glamour pocket, octubre (marox): Un poquito más cara que la anterior, por 2,50€ teníamos la revista Glamour. La versión grande traía un champú de Yves Rocher, creo recordar. A mí me gustó más el regalo de la versión pequeña, con la minimanteca de The Body Shop. Como véis, yo cogí la de mango, aunque a los kioskos locales llegó también la de Berry BonBon que ya vino en un número anterior.




3 - Perfilador ojos retráctil marrón de Essence, tono #02 Hot Chocolate (marox): Se trata de una reposición, ya que gasté el que estaba usando. Da satisfacción poder terminar productos de maquillaje, ¿verdad?
Lo compré en un supermercado Alimerka, que tiene stand de Essence.

4 - Paleta 'Comfort Zone' de Wet n Wild: Hablando de supermercados, he descubierto que en LUPA tienen stand de Wet'nWild. Para mi sorpresa, les quedaba aún una de estas paletas así que no lo dudé. Los muebles de Wet'nWild de Arenal, suelen estar arrasados.
Aunque tengo la versión antigua de esta paleta, está ya algo maltrecha, así que viene bien tener un repuesto. Me costó 5,99€.

Here I am to show you my latest purchases so far.

1 - Elle pocket, October issue (marox): At only €1.95, it was a nice deal, as this month's freebie was a 2-count OPI nail polish minis. Mine came in a box, with the names clearly visible. I've seen online that other people got theirs only with the plastic inner tray without any names to identify the items.
I wouldn't mind getting my hands on another copy, if there are any left.

2 - Glamour pocket, October issue (marox):  A tad more expensive than the previous one. The regular version came with an Yves Rocher shampoo, if memory serves. I liked the freebie the smaller issue had better. 3 different travel-sized TBS body butters, apparently. I grabbed the mango one, with local newsagents also getting the Berry BonBon that I had from an earlier issue.


3 - Automatic Eye Pencil from Essence, shade #02 Hot Chocolate (marox): A replacement for the exact same thing that I'd been using. You feel a sense of accomplishment when you use a makeup product up, don't you? I got this from a local supermarket, Alimerka, as it has an Essence counter.




4 - Wet'nWild 'Comfort Zone' palette (marox): On the subject of supermarkets, I recently discovered that a local one, LUPA, had a Wet'nWild counter. To my surprise, they still had one of these palettes, so I grabbed it straightaway. Other counters from the brand elsewhere (Arenal drugstores, for one) are usually depleted.
I still have the old version of this palette, but it's taken a few beatings, so it makes sense to have a back-up.

Productos Terminados / 'Finito' Products 2019 (VI)

Aquí venimos con nuestros últimos terminados.

1 - Champú Dermo Calm Kerastase (marox): Compré este champú en el mercadillo local -a veces hay cosas de marcas como L'Oreal o Kerastase, puesto que la fábrica está aquí. Me ha gustado bastante, es agradable de usar y ayuda con las molestias propias del cuero cabelludo sensible y propenso a la descamación y picores como el mío.

2 - Crema de peinado Potion 9 de Sebastian (marox): Gasté el bote de 150 ml que había comprado hace unos meses en Notino -ya tengo de repuesto el grande-, puesto que nos gusta mucho a todas.

3- Bálsamo labial (marox): Compré este bálsamo labial en Vitacost hace algún tiempo y ha llegado a su fin. No está mal, pero tampoco es para tirar cohetes.



4- Perfume Lolita Lempicka (Marian).
Marox sabía que me gustaba y por eso me la regaló.
La he estado usando más o menos a diario, aunque reconozco que para verano se hace un poco fuerte.
Ahora estoy usando otra que, cómo no, también me regaló ella.

5- Máscara de pestañas 3 en 1 de Flormar (Marian).
Lo de 3 en 1 es porque su cepillo tiene tres posiciones, dependiendo del resultado que queramos en nuestras pestañas (más o menos volumen).
Y esto me ha encantado.  Me ha gustado tanto el cepillo que lo voy a guardar.



Estos han sido nuestros terminados.

Hi girls,

Here we are with our latest empties.

1 - Dermo Calm Kerastase Shampoo (marox): I bought this at the local flea market -every now and then you find some L'Oreal or Kerastase products, since their production facilities are located in the city-. I liked it very much, it's pleasant to use and it does help with the itching and scaling that sensitive scalp like mine has.

2 - Sebastian Potion 9 styling treatment (marox): I used up the 150ml I'd purchased not that long ago from Notino. Needless to say I already have a bigger backup, since we all love it.

3 - Lip Balm (marox): I got this from Vitacost and it was on its last legs, to the point I couldn't twist it up to get more product out. Not bad, but nothing to write home about either.

4 - Lolita Lempicka EdP (Marian): Marox knew how much I love this, so she bought it for me.
I've been using it more or less on a daily basis, although to be honest I feel it is a bit too strong in the summertime.
I'm currently using something else that was also a present from her.



5 - Flormar 3-in-1 mascara (Marian): It has one of those adjustable wands - hence the name- that you can play with depending on how you want your lashes to look, with more or less volume.
I loved that bit and I'm keeping the wand.

Guía de viaje de Oslo (IV)- Oslo Travel Guide (IV).

Aquí estamos de nuevo con la cuarta, y última, entrega de nuestra guía de viaje de Oslo.

Día 4.

Comenzamos nuestro cuarto y último día completo en la ciudad visitando el Museo Munch.

En él se encuentra, al menos cuando nosotras lo visitamos, el famoso cuadro "El grito".
El apunte viene porque en las guías pone que se encuentra en la Galería Nacional, pero estaba en obras.
Una cosa que desconocía hasta ahora es que hay varias versiones de este cuadro, con ligeras diferencias en el fondo.



No os podéis imaginar la cantidad de "merchandising" con la imagen del cuadro. Algunos artículos eran realmente curiosos.





En el museo podemos encontrar información no sólo de la historia del autor, sino también del propio museo.



Hace especial hincapié en el robo que sufrió en 2004, a plena luz del día, lo que dejaba al descubierto que había graves deficiencias en la seguridad.



A continuación, nos dirigimos hacia Vigeland Park, el parque de las esculturas, con el "monolito" de figuras humanas al fondo.



La escultura más fotografiada es la del "Niño con rabieta", pero había algunas realmente llamativas.



Paramos para comer en un restaurante dentro del parque.
Después de comer, dimos otro paseo por el mismo, dando por finalizadas nuestras visitas turísticas.

El resto del día lo dedicamos a hacer algunas compras que, como siempre, os enseñaremos en otra entrada.

Día 5.

De vuelta a casa.

Todavía pudimos aprovechar nuestra Oslo Pass para llegar hasta la estación central de Oslo, donde cogimos el tren que nos llevaría al aeropuerto Gardemoen.

Nuestro vuelo de vuelta fue con Norwegian, donde pudimos disfrutar del wifi a bordo.

Nos llamó mucho la atención poder ver la ruta del avión en la tablet. Sin duda, toda una experiencia. El catering -aunque de pago, como suele ser habitual- nos pareció excelente, el mejor que hemos probado hasta ahora, con bocadillos sabrosos y a un precio razonable.

El vuelo, y sobre todo el aterrizaje, transcurrieron sin incidencias para Marian, cosa de agradecer.

No descartamos repetir con esta compañía, muy a tener en cuenta para futuros viajes.

Here we are with the fourth and last installment in our Oslo Travel Guide series.

Day 4.

Our last full day started with a visit to the Munch Museum.


Within its walls - at least during our stay- visitors can see the famous painting 'The Cry'. The reason for the sidenote has to do with the fact that according to guidebooks it was supposed to be found at the National Gallery, but that was undergoing some renovations.

A little something I wasn't aware of was the fact that there are actually several versions of this painting, with minor changes to the background.



You'll be amazed at the number of merchandising available with this iconic work of art. There were some very unusual items for sure. 



The museum provides insight not only into the artist's life, but also about the museum itself.
Special emphasis is made on the heist that took place in 2004, in broad daylight. This unfortunate event brought into the open how lacking security in the premises was.






Next we headed to Vigeland Park, the park of sculptures, with the monolith of human figures in the background.



The most photographed sculpture is the one called 'The Angry Boy' (Sinnataggen in Norwegian), but there were some really eye-catching ones.

We had a lunch break inside Vigeland Park, at a small eatery.
Afterwards, we went for a walk before finishing our sightseeing.

We spent the rest of the day doing some shopping. As usual, we'll show you our purchases in another post.



Day 5.

Back home.

We still could make the most of our Oslo passes by getting to Oslo Central Station, where we took the train to Oslo Gardemoen Airport.

Our return flight was with Norwegian airlines. We enjoyed the Wi-Fi connection on board.

It was really cool to see the flight map on our tablet.
It was a wonderful experience overall. The on-board meal service -not complimentary, as is the norm these days- was excellent. Sandwiches were really tasty, the best ones we've tried in an airplane so far and were great value for money.



The flight, and specially the landing, were free of incidents for Marian, fortunately.

We will keep this airline in mind for future travels.

Thon Hotel Europa (Oslo)

Hola guapas:

Como ya habréis deducido por el título, en esta entrada os hablaremos del hotel en el que nos alojamos durante nuestra breve estancia en Oslo.
Podéis la primera parte de nuestra guía de viaje *aquí*. Y también la *segunda* y *tercera* entrega.

El elegido fue el Thon Hotel Europa, al lado de otro hotel más alto de la cadena Radisson. Está a unos cinco minutos de la calle principal, Karl Johans Gate y del Palacio Real. La estación central de Oslo se encuentra a unos 20 minutos andando. La parada de metro más cercana es National Theater.
La cadena Thon tiene bastantes hoteles por toda la ciudad -nos topamos con unos cuantos- en la ciudad (y también alguno en Bruselas, por lo visto).

Lo reservamos por Booking. Si os registráis en la web, tendréis acceso a ofertas especiales. Fue el caso de este hotel, que era uno de los 'chollos del día'. Nuestra reserva era para 4 noches, con desayuno incluido.
No olvidéis acceder a Booking a través de alguna página de cashback como *Beruby*, *Shoppiday*, *Topcashback* o *Ebates* (ahora Rakuten). Comparad también cuál devuelve más dinero en ese momento.
Por cierto, y hablando de páginas de cashback, hemos descubierto recientemente *letyshops*, con muchísimas tiendas internacionales.

Como veis en las fotos, las habitaciones tienen una decoración maximalista. Cuentan con mininevera (perfecto por si os compráis algo de comer) que enfriaba de verdad (no como las de otros hoteles), hervidor de agua -o como dicen los anglosajones: "facilidades para té y café"-, tabla y plancha, caja fuerte, una colorida butaca y en el baño, secador de pelo.

Otro punto a favor en nuestra opinión, son los suelos de madera (laminado, o lo que sea) en lugar de moqueta, que aunque pueda resultar cómoda no es lo más higiénico.
Como curiosidad, nos gustó el detalle del paraguas, que es algo que no suele caber en una maleta. 

Hablando del baño, sería el único punto negativo de la habitación. Lo comenté al dejar el hotel en recepción y por lo visto son todos parecidos. Es muy cuadrado, de poco más de 2 metros cuadrados, con la taza del inodoro demasiado cerca del lavabo (tened cuidado de no golpearos).



Las camas eran muy cómodas y hay dos almohadas en cada cama: una de plumas y otra de fibra hueca siliconada. Un detalle que yo aprecio y que a Marian no le importa tanto puesto que se lleva la suya propia en todos los viajes.

Al hacer el check-in, la recepcionista nos preguntó si teníamos alguna preferencia. Queríamos una habitación tranquila, así que nos asignó una en la última planta, la habitación 902.

Por cierto, en la planta de recepción hay un pequeño rincón con un grifo de agua (con gas o sin gas), así como una máquina de Nespresso a disposición de los clientes de manera gratuita, y también una tetera y sobres con café instantáneo e infusiones que me pareció un detalle fantástico y que usamos.

Otros detalles de la habitación que casi olvido mencionar son la súper tele (creemos que de 42 pulgadas y 4K), así como un altavoz bluetooth Bose, por si os apetece escuchar vuestra música. No es de adorno, funciona, aunque me costó un poco vincularlo.



Un capítulo aparte se merece el buffet de desayuno del hotel Thon. Creo que es de los más completos que hemos visto: con platos salados como huevos revueltos y fritos, verduras salteadas, etc; fruta fresca natural y también ya cortada como piña, sandía, uvas sin pepitas, gran variedad de panes que te cortabas tú mismo, productos sin gluten, y cómo no, salmón ahumado, que servían enrolladito en una bandeja.

Durante nuestros desayunos tuvimos la oportunidad de probar por primera vez un producto típico noruego: el *Brunost* o "queso marrón", un delicioso queso con un toque caramelizado hecho con suero de leche cocida.  Como souvenir, compramos un bloque en un supermercado (Coop).

En resumen, un hotel estupendo para alojarse en Oslo, con todas las comodidades y bien situado.

Aparte de la última entrega de nuestra guía de viaje, ya sólo nos queda compartir con vosotros las compras que hicimos durante nuestro viaje.

As you may have guessed from the title, today's entry will be about the hotel we stayed at during our short stay in Oslo.
You can read the first part of our Oslo Travel Guide *here*, and part *two* and *three* as well.

Our chosen accommodation was the Thon Hotel Europa, just across the street from a larger, taller Radisson one. It's a five-minute walk from the main pedestrian street, Karl Johans Gate and from the Royal Palace. Oslo's Central Station is further, a 20-minute walk from there. The closest underground stop is National Theater.

Thon Hotels have many locations in town -we stumbled upon several during our sightseeing walks- and apparently some more in Brussels.

We made our reservation through Booking. If you create an account, it will give you access to exclusive deals. This hotel was one of their 'bargains of the day'. Our booking was for 4 night with breakfast included.
Don't forget to access the website through a cashback site such as *Beruby*, *Shoppiday*, *Topcashback* or Ebates (now *Rakuten*). Do compare the different sites available in your country to find the best cashback deal. 
By the way, we've recently discovered *letyshops*, with lots of international online stores.

As you may have noticed from the pictures, rooms have maximalist décor. They all have a minifridge -great if you grab some food or drinks for dinner- that actually kept stuff cold, unlike others we've encountered. In addition, a kettle is also provided (tea and coffee-making facilities, as British travellers would call them), iron and ironing board, a safe, a colourful armchair and in the bathroom, a hair dryer.



Another plus, at least for us, was the fact that the room had wooden (or laminate, you get the point) floors, instead of the ever-present fitted carpet that as comfortable as may be is not the most hygienic thing to have in a busy environment like a hotel.
A nice touch was the umbrella provided, as that's something one seldom has room in their suitcase for.



On the subject of the bathroom, it was the only but major con about the room. That thing was teeny-tiny. I mentioned it at the front desk when we checked out and apparently they are all about the same size. It's square, slightly over 2 sq. metres and the toilet seat is so close to the washbasin that I challenge you not to hit yourself with any of them when inside.





On the other hand the beds were extremely comfortable and two different pillows are provided per guest: a feather one as well as another with a hollow silicone fibre filling. A nice touch that I appreciate but Marian doesn't care about much since she always brings her own.

When doing the check-in, we were asked if we had any preferences. Our only request was a quiet room and so we were given one on the top floor, room 902.

Speaking of reception, there's a nook on the ground floor that has a tap with both still and sparkling water, as well as a complimentary Nespresso machine, kettle and instant coffee and assorted tea bags for guests. A really nice touch that we used.

Another important feature that I almost forgot to mention was the huge TV (we eyeballed it at 42 inches and quite likely 4K), as well as a Bose Bluetooth speaker, in case you feel like listening to your own music. It wasn't just for show, it was legit and working, although it took me some time to figure out how to make it work.

One more thing that is worth mentioning is the excellent breakfast buffet at Thon hotels. I think it is one of the best ones we've tried: savoury stuff like scrambled and fried eggs, grilled veggies and so on; fresh fruit as well as chopped fruit such as pineapple and watermelon chunks, seedless grapes. A nice selection of breads that you had to slice yourself was also available. Food allergies were taken care of with gluten-free options. Needless to say, there was smoked salmon as well, which was very nicely arranged into small rolls.



Breakfast was the chance for us to try a typical Norwegian product, *Brunost* or 'brown cheese' made with milk, whey and/or cream. It had a delicious caramel-y taste and we liked it enough to grab a block at a local supermarket (Coop).

 

In sum, it was a great hotel to stay in Oslo, with all the comforts one may need and in a central location. 

Apart from the last installment in this travel series, the only thing for us left to share with you would be what we bought during our stay.
