Nuestros productos de NYX / Our NYX stuff (III)

Hoy le toca el turno a nuestros brillos de la marca NYX, de la gama de los Megashine (los del tubito cuadrado). Al igual que con las barras de labios, pedí 6 para probar y nos los repartimos entre mi hermana y yo.



It's time to show you our NYX lipglosses, from the Megashine line -the ones in the square tube-. As with the lipsticks, I ordered 6 of them and then my sister and I shared them.

Como podéis ver, la mayoría son tonos bastante potentes. Algunos los pedimos a propósito y con otros nos llevamos la sorpresa. Estos fueron los que me quedé yo.

As you can see, most of them are very in-your-face. Some of them we ordered on purpose whereas we got a surprise with others. These are the ones I kept.



Copper Penny: Es el más ponible de los que tengo. Es bastante pigmentado -aunque el color es clarito- y modulable. En cuanto a la duración, yo diría que es media.

Copper Penny: It's the most wearable of them all. It's quite pigmented -though it's a light shade- but buildable. Lasting time is average or slightly longer than average.



Perfect Red: El clásico rojo. Al ser modulable, podemos darle una mayor o menor intensidad. La duración de nuevo bastante buena.

Perfect Red: A classic red shade. Being buildable we can play a bit with the colour intensity we want to get. Lasting time is quite good again.



Vixen: Este tono no pensaba que iba a ser tan oscuro viendo los chuaches que circulan por Internet. Cuando nos disfracemos en Carnaval de góticas, mi hermana se pondrá su labial 'Egg Plant' y yo me pondré este brillo. Al ser modulable, si lo queremos hacer más ponible, aplicaremos una menor cantidad de producto. La duración también bastante buena, sobre todo teniendo en cuenta que estos brillos no son de larga duración. A mi hermana le duran aún más de lo normal -cosa ya habitual entre nosotras.

Vixen: I didn't think this shade would turn out to be quite so dark, judging by the swatches you can find throughout the Internet. When we dress up for Carnival, we'll be Gothic girls -my sis with her round lipstick in 'Egg Plant' and me wearing this. It's just as well these are buildable, so you can tone it down by using a smaller amount of product. They stay on the lips, a plus considering these are not long-lasting lipglosses. They stay longer on my sis than on me -but that's a long-lost battle, anyway.

Supongo que mi hermana os enseñará los suyos en unos días. También nos gustaría compartir con vosotras otros productos de labios de nuestra colección, de marcas como Essence, Deliplus, Deborah, etc.

I guess my sister will be uploading hers in a few days. We'd also like to share with you other lip products in our collection from Essence, Deliplus by Mercadona, Deborah, and so on.

Estos brillos de labios son de nuestros favoritos. Están en el número 2 de nuestro ranking personal. Ya os enseñaremos el nº1 indiscutible, que además es de una marca muy poco conocida.

These lipglosses are some of our favourites. They rank no.2 in our personal list. We'll show you our HG-n.1 lipgloss some time in the future, from a brand probably unknown to most.

UDLS / NOTW - Essence Multidimension #72 'Found my Love'

Os presento mi primer esmalte lila/lavanda. La verdad es que tenía ganas de hacerme con uno, sobre todo viendo que esta temporada se llevan mucho los tonos pastel. Es curioso que tenga varios colores similares tipo vino, varios verdes oscuros -me he jurado comprar con más cabeza y de momento me estoy portando- pero que no tuviera ninguno pastel aún. Afortunadamente, me he ido haciendo con alguno últimamente y como no han sido de marcas muy caras, mejor, porque a este paso me arruino. Lo vistéis en * este * post sobre mis últimas compras de Essence.

Meet my first lilac/lavender polish. The truth is I was very eager to get my greedy hands on one, particularly after seeing pastels are 'in' this season. It's strange how I usually head straight for vampy shades like wine reds, dark greens and so on - I promised myself to use my brains when buying polishes from now on and I'm proud to say I'm behaving so far - and I had no pastels until now.

Thankfully I've been getting a few lately and it's just as well they were from affordable brands or otherwise I'll end up bankrupt at this rate. It was included in my latest Essence haul blogpost *here*.

La verdad es que este color me ha encantado y mi hermana está pensando en comprarse otro, aunque como de momento sigo en su casa, puede usar perfectamente el mío. Ya veis que no tenemos ningún problema en compartir. De hecho tiene unos cuantos pendientes de estrenar que me tientan, jeje. Lo único que no me ha gustado es que se me empezó a desconchar al día siguiente de pintarme las uñas, aunque no fue algo demasiado grave. No sé si ha sido casualidad o qué, así que estaré atenta cuando lo vuelva a usar.

I honestly love this one and so does my sis, who's contemplating getting one for herself, but as I'm still staying at her place, she's welcome to use mine whenever she wants. As you see, we really get on and don't mind sharing. Actually she has quite a few untrieds that are very tempting, lol. The only thing I didn't appreciate was that I got some minor chipping the next day. I don't know if it was pure coincidence or what, so I'll keep my eyes open the next time I use it.

Me las pinté un martes por la noche, aplicando primero una capa de mi base de P2, una cargadita de este esmalte y otra de SV. Cubre muy bien y no es difícil conseguir un acabado uniforme.

Sorpresa, sorpresa, el miércoles por la tarde descubro un primer desconchón, en el pulgar de la mano derecha. No es muy grave, pero sí me parece digno de mención.

El jueves por la mañana, el índice derecho y el anular izquierdo han decidido unirse al 'club de los desconchones'. Por la tarde, decido darle un último cambio de look ya que no aguantarán mucho más y de paso sigo practicando mis dotes de estampación. Lo hago únicamente en dos dedos de cada mano: en la izquierda con dos tonos distintos, con el de Kiko gris que aunque estampa bien, no resalta nada sobre éste y le cojo prestado su 'Poison me, Poison You' de Catrice a mi hermana para el resto. Aún no lo ha estrenado, pero para estampación me ha dejado alucinada lo bien que ha funcionado, aunque el LWF se había portado muy bien también. Matifico con el topcoat de Fairwind esas dos uñas, aunque las que tenían el diseño más reciente se 'corre' un poco. Lo sé, tengo poca paciencia y tenía que haber esperado un poquito más, como me aconsejó mi hermana.

Como no iba a aguantar mucho más, me lo quité al día siguiente.

I painted my nails on a Tuesday night, first with one coat of P2's Base and then a thick one of this and topped with some SV. It's very pigmented and gives you an even coverage.

Surprise, surprise, I discovered some minor chipping on the edge of my right thumbnail. Not too big, but worthy of mention.

On Thursday morning, both my right index and left ring finger have decided to join the 'chip club'. In the evening I gave it a makeover to extend this mani a little bit longer and have another go at stamping to improve my skills. I did it just on two nails in each hand: I used two different shades in my left hand; my pale grey from Kiko that did well though did not stand out at all with this base and my sister's 'Poison me, Poison You' that I borrowed from her. It's still in her untrieds but did beautifully for the stamping on this one. I got a very neat design with it that left me quite speechless. LFF did great as well. I gave those nails a matte finish with Fairwind's topcoat that I got from Schlecker a while ago. I should have waited a little longer as my sister advised, because the designs that were the most tender did smear or 'bleed' a bit. I know, I have no patience whatsoever.

It wouldn't have lasted much longer, so I took it off the next day.

Valoración: esmalte muy bonito pero empezó a desconcharse antes de lo que esperaba. Estaré al loro la próxima vez, a ver qué tal se porta.

Overview: very pretty polish though started chipping earlier than expected. Will keep an eye on that the next time.

Cómo tengo organizado mi maquillaje / How I organize my make-up

... O al menos parte de él, ya que no lo tengo todo aquí. Mi hermana os mostró hace poco la caja compartimentada que compró en los chinos *aquí*. La mía es bastante más pequeña y sólo está separada, sin cajas que se puedan quitar o poner a voluntad.
Al ser más pequeñita, la mía costó poco más de tres euros mientras que la suya costó 7 ú 8. Mi caja es algo más alta, por lo que me permite guardar también algunos esmaltes que no cabían en la caja que tuneé en este post.

... Or at least part of it, since I don't have all of it here. My sister showed you a few days ago the compartmentalized box she bought at a local Euro store *here*. Mine is a lot smaller and does not have individual boxes one can add or take out if needed.
Being smaller, my box was a little bit over €3 and hers was 7 or 8. Mine is taller than hers, so I can keep some polishes there, namely those that didn't fit in the box I 'pimped' or 'made over' in this post.

Las noticias de la semana en imágenes / This week's news in pictures

La verdad es que no sé ni por dónde empezar. En el panorama nacional, la noticia que ha centrado la atención de los medios han sido las elecciones locales/regionales celebradas el pasado domingo. El final de la campaña pasó a un segundo plano por la concentración “espontánea” de un gran número de personas, jóvenes en su mayoría que decían estar allí para pedir un cambio en la política actual además de en el sistema electoral y económico actual.

The truth is I hardly know where to start. In the national news, the story that has captured the media attention was the local/regional elections held last Sunday. The last leg of the campaign was put aside by the 'spontaneous' gathering of a large group of people, most of them in their early twenties that claimed to be camped there to request a change in politics today, as well as a change in the current electoral and economic system.

*For our English readers: Their campaign catch-phrases have been transformed from 'You can trust' for the Popular Party into 'You can mistrust' and from 'For full employment - Reasons to believe' for the PSOE into 'For full unemployment - Reasons to commit suicide'.*

Este grupo de personas, autodenominados 'los indignados' o 'movimiento 15-M' afirmaban no tener vínculos con ninguna ideología política concreta, aspecto que con su comportamiento se ha demostrado que no era del todo cierto. Asimismo, decían tener intenciones pacíficas, hecho que se contradecía primero con el boicot a determinados medios de ideología conservadora que intentaban informar desde Sol, a los que no han dudado en agredir, tanto física como verbalmente. Hoy incluso llegan informaciones de las primeras agresiones -e incluso amenazas de muerte- a los comerciantes de la zona, que están registrando enormes pérdidas económicas por la presencia de estas personas acampadas frente a sus establecimientos. Aunque no pongo en duda que entre esas personas haya mucha gente con buenas intenciones y buena educación, en estas concentraciones de gente, por desgracia son siempre aquellos más violentos e intolerantes los que consiguen hacerse notar.

This group of people, self-labelled 'The Indignant' or simply '15-M movement' claimed not to be affiliated with any political group in particular, a fact proved wrong by their actions. They also said this demonstration had a peaceful intent, facts contradicted first with their boycott of the conservative media deployed at Sol Square to cover the information. Some of these people have retorted to both verbal and physical violence. Today, we're being witness of the first attacks -and even death threats- to the owners of businesses in the area. They're suffering from significant economic losses as a result of crowds camped right outside their doorstep. I'm well aware there will be many well-meant, law-obiding citizens among them, but unfortunately in such gatherings, the violent and intolerant ones are usually the ones to make themselves heard.

A este grupo de personas, o al menos a los citados arriba, me vais a permitir que les llame 'los despistados', ya que lo que no sabían es que los verdaderos indignados estaban este fin de semana tranquilamente en sus casas, dispuestos a -como he leído en un sms en una tertulia televisiva post-electoral- 'tirar de la cadena electoral' con su voto el pasado domingo. El varapalo ha sido importante para los partidos de izquierda españoles, ya que han perdido irremisiblemente territorios en los que llevaban gobernando durante décadas. A la derecha, ahora le toca el turno de remangarse y ponerse a limpiar bajo la alfombra y ya algunos medios adelantan que ahí hay sapos y culebras. En algunos ayuntamientos, se habla de facturas impagadas emitidas en pesetas y de que el pago de muchas nóminas corre peligro.

Let me change the name of the above mentioned people to 'the confused ones', because they ignored that the real indignant ones were sitting comfortably at home, ready to -as one sms on a post-election TV debate put it- 'flush down the electoral toilet' with their vote on Sunday. The blow to the Spanish Left has been unprecedented, since territories they had been ruling for some decades have now been lost to the opposition. The Right now has to roll up their sleeves so-to-speak and clean the dirt underneath the carpet. In some town councils, they're talking about unpaid invoices written out in Spanish pesetas -which stopped being legal tender in 1999 when we adopted the Euro. Payment of many salaries is uncertain as well.

¡Para que luego digan que las elecciones son aburridas! Por tener, hemos tenido hasta fenómenos paranormales. En Asturias, el ex-diputado del PP, Francisco Álvarez Cascos decidió crear su propio partido político, siendo el segundo partido más votado. Su antiguo partido, ha sido la tercera fuerza política más votada y suponemos que se estará tirando de los pelos. Y es que en ocasiones, el Partido Popular, peca o bien de ingenuidad o bien de cabezonería, como ha sucedido en este caso. El otro suceso paranormal se debe a que de ahora en adelante, las estrellas de Hollywood que visiten el Festival de Cine de San Sebastián serán recibidas por un terrorista.

Si cuando dicen que 'Spain is different' es por algo.

And they say elections are boring, boy!! We've even had some paranormal activity. In the Asturies region, the former Popular Party MP, Francisco Álvarez Cascos, decided to create his own party from scratch after being snubbed as candidate by his fellows. His new party came in second, followed by his former party, who will most likely be regretting their decision right now. The PP is sometimes guilty of either being too naïve or too headstrong, as in this case.

The other paranormal activity arises from the fact that from now on, the Hollywood celebrities attenting the San Sebastian Film Festival will be greeted by a terrorist.

You see, the saying 'Spain is different' is there for a reason.

En lo internacional, tenemos a Dominique Strauss Kahn -conocido por sus iniciales DSK- que se encuentra detenido en EEUU acusado de intento de violación de una empleada del hotel donde se alojaba. Forzado a dimitir de su cargo al frente del Fondo Monetario International (FMI), defiende que luchará por demostrar su inocencia.

As for the international news, we have Dominique Strauss Kahn -aka DSK- who is currently under arrest in the US, charged with the attempted rape of an employee at the hotel he was staying. Forced to resign from his position as head of the IMF, he claims he will fight to prove his innocence.

Men, what a state things are in!

En deportes, me quedo con el carrerón -especialmente esa salida estratosférica digna de los mejores tiempos de la escudería Renault- de Fernando Alonso este fin de semana en el GP de F1 de Montmeló. Está claro que manos sobran, pero falta coche. Mucho coche. Sres. de Ferrari, por favor hagan algo.

La Scuderia acaba de renovarle el contrato hasta 2016 esta misma semana.
