Hace unos meses Marox participó en el sorteo de una tarjeta regalo del blog de Emily's Nail Files de una tienda online americana, Apothica, que ganó. Por desgracia, al intentar hacerla efectiva, resultó que los gastos de envío a España eran desorbitados: más de 30 €.

Some months ago Marox entered a giveaway on Emily's Nail Files and won a giftcard from a US-based only beauty store, Apothica. Unfortunately, when we tried to redeem it found out the shipping costs to Spain were outrageous: more than 30 EUR.

Así que desde la tienda -de un trato excelente, todo sea dicho- sugirieron la posibilidad de cedérsela a otra persona que viviera en EEUU y eso fue lo que hicimos. Marox se puso en contacto con una de nuestras seguidoras y fiel comentarista, PolishAMOR para que aprovechara ella la tarjeta. Aún no la ha hecho efectiva ya que sus objetos de deseo no estaban en stock de momento y a cambio se ofreció a conseguirnos alguna cosa. Primeramente le dijimos que no, ya que la idea de cederle la tarjeta regalo no era con la esperanza de recibir nada a cambio, aunque tras mucho pensar, finalmente decidimos pedirle algún esmalte dorado no muy caro que sirviera para estampar, como el famoso 2030 de China Glaze.

So the store -kudos to the attentive customer service, btw- suggested donating the giftcard to a friend living in the States and that's what we did. Marox contacted one of our followers and loyal commenter, PolishAMOR so she could use it herself. She has not redeemed it yet as her lemmings were not in stock and she insisted on getting us something in return. We initially refused because that wasn't the plan when we offered her the giftcard, but after giving the matter some thought we said OK to her finding us a cheap polish that could make a good gold stamping polish, such as the famous 2030 from China Glaze.

Por lo visto el 2030 es ya difícil de encontrar, así que estuvo buscando posibles alternativas y encontró una que cumplía sobradamente en la marca Color Club. Se trata del esmalte 'Gingerbread Man' de una de las últimas colecciones de la marca.

Apparently 2030 is now becoming quite HTF, so she did some searching for a good substitute and found an excellent one in Color Club. It's called 'Gingerbread Man' and was released in one of the brand's latest collections.

La sorpresa llegó cuando siete días después nuestro "San Cartero" (al que ya le hemos obsequiado con una cajita de bombones por la cantidad de veces que nos sube cosas) nos trajo una cajita. ¿Una cajita para un esmalte? ¡Qué exagerada! ¿no? Pues SÍ, Iris es una exagerada. Si no nos creéis, mirad todo lo que embutió en la cajita.

Surprise came seven days letter when our dear postman (aka. St. Postman -who's already received a 'Thank you' box of chocolates from us) brought us a box. A box for one polish?? That's way too big!! Yes, Iris DID GO overboard and stuffed a gazillion stuff in said box. Check it out for yourselves if you don't believe us.

According to her, she had to make the most of the flat rate box and the fact that the China Glaze 'Metro (Uptown') collection was on clearance. Nay, that's just excuses!!

Receta: Pimientos del piquillo rellenos / Recipe: Stuffed Piquillo peppers

Hacía una eternidad que no publicaba ninguna receta de cocina, así que hoy os traigo una que nos encanta por lo básica que es. Yo la llamaría de "fondo de despensa"; me explico: si tenéis siempre en la despensa pimientos del piquillo, atún en conserva y huevos, os puede sacar de algún apuro si no andáis muy inspiradas o si tenéis algún invitado inesperado.

It's been ages since I last posted a recipe, so today I'd like to share one of our favourites. It's so simple and easy that you only need a handful of ingredients that I'm sure you usually stock on your kitchen pantry. If you have canned piquillo peppers, canned tuna and eggs, you'll have a delicious meal ready within a few minutes -great for when we lack inspiration or have unexpected guests for lunch or dinner.

Ingredientes para 2 personas:

1 lata de pimientos del piquillo
1 huevo cocido
1 lata de atún en aceite o dos lonchas de salmón ahumado
Vino blanco para cocinar
Tomate frito
Harina
Sal
Ajos
Aceite de oliva
Un poco de agua



Ingredients (serves 2).

Canned piquillo peppers (1 can) or failing that, Jarred roasted red peppers
1 hard-boiled egg
Canned tuna or two slices of smoked salmon
White wine for cooking
Tomato sauce
Flour
Salt
2 cloves of garlic
Olive oil
Water


1- Se pica el huevo cocido y el salmón ahumado o atún en un plato.
1- Cut the hard-boiled egg and the smoked salmon or tuna into bits and keep them on a dish.


2- Se echan unas tres cucharadas de postre de tomate frito y se remueve todo. Se rellenan los pimientos del piquillo (guardar el caldo para la salsa).
2- Add three tsps of tomato sauce and blend in with the egg, salmon/tuna. Stuff the piquillo peppers (keep the juice for the sauce).




3- Ponemos unas tres cucharadas de aceite en una sartén a fuego más bien fuerte y picamos el ajo, que freímos hasta que esté doradito. A la salsa que traen los pimientos, le echamos un poco de agua.
3- Put a frying pan on a medium-high heat and add three tbsps of olive oil. Chop up the garlic cloves and fry until golden. Add some water to the juice that comes with the tinned peppers.


4- Echamos una cucharadita de harina en la sartén, un poco de vino blanco, el caldo de los pimientos y unas dos cucharadas de tomate frito.
4- Put a tsp of flour on the frying pan, with a splash of white wine, the juice from the peppers and two tbsp of tomato sauce.


5- Añadimos un poquito de agua y sal. Movemos un poco y echamos los pimientos y los dejamos unos minutos cociendo.
5- Add a trickle of water and salt. Gently stir the sauce and incorporate the peppers. Bring to the boil for a few minutes.

Probando "belle" de Eroski - Trying 'belle' from Eroski.

Hace un par de semanas entramos en un Eroski por casualidad..., bueno, por casualidad no; creo recordar que volvíamos de Bustillo (donde compramos Essence) y nos pillaba de camino para hacer la típica compra de algo que se te ha olvidado y de lo que te acuerdas de repente.

About two weeks ago, we went to Eroski (a Spanish supermarket) by chance..., well, not exactly by chance; If I'm not wrong, we were coming back from Bustillo (where we buy Essence) and Eroski was on our way, so we stopped there to buy something we had forgotten.

Pues bien, aparte de comprar lo que necesitábamos, estuvimos un rato cotilleando el stand de "belle", su marca de cosmética y belleza propia, que aunque está empezando tiene una variedad interesante de productos.

Well, apart from buying what we needed, we had a look at the display from 'belle', their own beauty & cosmetics brand, and with a small but varied range of products, considering its short existence.

De las sombras de ojos nos sorprendió lo bien que pigmentan (al menos, las que probamos). Hubo una en color gris oscuro mate que me llamaba a gritos, pero me hice la sorda por el momento. Costaban 3,50 €, es decir, lo mismo que las de Mercadona -Belle sólo tiene sombras mono.
Vimos también los esmaltes, pero tampoco había colores exclusivos, que es lo que vamos buscando ahora que ya empezamos a tener "demasiados".

We were pleasantly surprised by the great colour payoff of their eyeshadows (at least, those we swatched). There was one in a dark grey shade with a matt effect that shouted at me, but I pretended not to hear (at the moment). The (single) eyeshadows were 3.50 EUR each, the same as those from Mercadona's Deliplus.
We also had a look at the nail polishes, but there weren't any unique shades, which is what we're looking for now that we already have 'too many' of them.

Durante nuestro cotilleo potinguil, había un dependiente que parecía que nos perseguía por la tienda, y nos preguntaba si habíamos probado tal o cual cosa. Desde luego, hacía buena promoción de los productos. Nos los metía por los ojos, jeje.
Nos atendió él mismo en la caja cuando fuimos a pagar, y como nos vio interesadas en la marca, nos regaló dos muestras para cada una de dos de sus cremas faciales, que es lo que hasta ahora hemos probado.

While we were shopping and make-up snooping around, there was a shop assistant who seemed to be chasing us, asking all the time whether we'd tried this or that. He was doing an excellent promotion of the products, lol and couldn't say enough good about them. He was at the checkout when we paid and as he realized that we were interested in their cosmetic brand, he gave us two samples each from two of their face creams, which is what we've tried until now from the brand.




Las cremas en cuestión son "Luxury Pearl" - que dice iluminar y unificar la piel - recomendada para antes del maquillaje - , y "Caviar Therapy", con acción antiarrugas y de regeneración celular, que se puede utilizar tanto debajo del maquillaje como crema de noche.

The creams are 'Luxury Pearl', which promises to light up and unify the skin, it's to be used before make-up, and 'Caviar Therapy', with antiwrinkles and cellular regeneration effects, which can be used either under make-up or as a night cream.




Puesto que nuestra visita a Eroski fue bien avanzada la tarde, decidí probar primero la crema de noche. Tiene textura cremosa, pero no muy densa, y se extiende muy bien. Lo que me sorprendió gratamente fue que no me dejó una sensación pegajosa ni grasienta en la cara, que parece que es lo que cabe esperar de una crema de noche, antiarrugas, etc. Tengo la piel muy grasa, así que estupendo.

As our visit to Eroski was late in the evening, I decided to try the night cream first. It has a creamy texture, but it's not too thick, and application is very good. The feeling it left on my skin surprised me in a good way; I mean, it didn't leave my skin with a sticky or greasy feeling, which is what usually get with an antiwrinkle, night cream, etc. I have very oily skin, so so much the better.

Ya se me ha terminado la muestra de "Caviar Therapy", así que ahora he empezado la de "Luxury Pearl". Al igual que la otra se extiende bien, se absorbe enseguida, y no me deja sensación grasa en la piel. Lo que ya no puedo decir es si ilumina y unifica la piel, como promete. Llevo poco tiempo probándola, pero aun así, la sensación es agradable.

I've used up the 'Caviar Therapy' sample, so now I've started using the 'Luxury Pearl' one. It is easily applied, it is absorbed at once, and doesn't leave a greasy feeling on my skin. I can't say yet if it lights up and unifies the skin, as it promises, as it's been a short time since I began using it, but the feeling is good.

Nuestros esmaltes de Essence / Our Essence polishes: #53 'All Access'

Hoy vengo con un post "de archivo", en el que os traigo otro de nuestros esmaltes de Essence, el #53 'All Access', un esmalte verde metalizado precioso y con mucho brillo. Me parece uno de los mejores esmaltes que ha tenido Essence, pero que por desgracia fue retirado hace tiempo.

I have another 'from the vault' post for you today, featuring another of our Essence polishes. Meet #53 'All Access', a dark green metallic polish. It's a gorgeous colour, very glossy. I think it's one of the best from Essence ever, which unfortunately was discontinued a while ago.

La última vez que lo usé, me dio la impresión de que la fórmula se había espesado un poco, por lo que le añadí unas gotas de diluyente. No obstante, no me dio demasiados problemas, quizá me dio algo más de problema en la mano derecha.

The last time I used it, I got the impression the formula had thickened a bit, so I added a couple of drops of thinner. It was not problematic, though, maybe I had to be a tad more careful in the application on my right hand.

En las fotos, llevo una capa de esmalte base de Basic, una de este esmalte y otra de Seche Vite. Es un esmalte muy pigmentado, por lo que si controláis bien la cantidad de esmalte del pincel, podréis cubrir perfectamente vuestras uñas con una sola capa.

In the photos, I'm wearing a coat of Base from Basic by Schlecker, another one of this and topped it all with one coat of Seche Vite. It's very pigmented, so if you have the right amount of polish on the brush, you can definitely get away with only one coat to paint your nails.

Hola de nuevo:

Aquí estoy otra vez con mis "uñas de la semana". Esta vez, he utilizado el esmalte de Sinful Colors que compré en Beautik en Salamanca. Os lo enseñé aquí. Me fascinó el color de este esmalte, y estaba deseando usarlo, pero sorprendentemente, no lo he estrenado (en mis uñas) hasta ahora. Lo definiría como un azul petróleo oscuro (casi negro), con acabado metalizado.

Here I am with another of my 'Nails of the Week' posts. This time, I've used a polish from Sinful Colors that I bought at the Beautik make-up store in Salamanca. I showed it here. I found the colour fascinating and was willing to try it, but surprisingly, I haven't used it (on my nails) until now. I'd define it as a dark petrol blue (almost black), with a metallic finish.

Primer día: Para esta manicura, he usado la miniatura de Nail Envy de OPI como base que nos mandó María *aquí*, después una capa gruesa (en algunas uñas, demasiado gruesa) de este esmalte, y Seche Vite encima, como siempre.
Os preguntaréis por qué digo aquello de la capa demasiado gruesa en algunas uñas. Pues bien, desde que hice los swatches de este esmalte en las ruedas, no lo había vuelto a usar, así que, empezaba a estar demasiado espeso. Por eso, después de hacerme esta manicura, le he añadido unas gotas de diluyente de Deliplus.




First day: For this mani, I've used the mini Nail Envy from OPI that we got from María as a base, and after that a thick coat (on some nails, much too thick) of this polish, with Seche Vite on top, as usual. You will probably be wondering why I said 'too thick' (about the coat of this polish I applied on some nails). OK, I hadn't used this again since I swatched this polish on the wheels, so when I did, I found the formula had thickened. That's why I added a few drops of thinner from Deliplus after this mani.

Cuarto día: Sigue perfecto tras un lavado de pelo.

Fourth day: It still remains perfect even after a hair wash.

Quinto día: Gran desconchón en la uña del dedo índice de la mano derecha, que no hay forma de disimular, así que decido quitármelo.

Fifth day: Huge chipping on my right hand index finger, which can't be disguised, so I decide to remove it.

Espero que siga funcionando igual de bien después de diluirlo un poco. Ya os contaré.

I hope it works as well as now after getting it thinned. I'll tell you about it.

Essence: Multidimension '#59 Purple Diamond'

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros un esmalte de la ya desaparecida gama Multidimension de Essence. *R.I.P.* Lo incluí en mi wishlist tras vérselo a blogueras como Teufeu. Marian, aprovechando la discontinuación, se compró uno también. Y a Sarah le mandamos otro también *aquí*, para que probara este color tan bonito y resultón.

I'd like to show you a real beauty from the now extinct Multidimension range of Essence nailpolishes. *R.I.P.* I had this on my WL some time ago after seeing it on other blogs, like that of Teufeu. Marian got a bottle for herself at the Essence discontinuation/sales and we also got another one for Sarah, as part of our first swap so she could paint her nails with such a gorgeous and flattering shade *here*.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de base endurecedora de Bpretty, que compré en un BIPA de Viena, seguida de UNA CAPA de este esmalte y otra de Seche Vite. El esmalte se aplica de cine, es muy cubriente y tiene un acabado 'foil' muy intenso. Da rabia pensar que han retirado no sólo este esmalte, sino la gama entera de Multidimension.

Day 1: At night I applied one coat of the nail hardener from Bpretty that I bought at BIPA in Vienna, followed by ONE COAT of this and another one of Seche Vite. I had a dream-like application with this, it's very pigmented and the foil finish is quite intense. The fact that not only they've discontinued this shade but the entire Multidimension range really pisses me off.

Día 3: Hacemos la sesión de fotos. Perfecto de momento.

Día 4: Por la mañana, gran desconchón en el índice derecho, coincidiendo con una zona de la uña que tengo descamada. En el dedo corazón de esa mano se empieza a notar ya desgaste en la punta y el pulgar en el lateral. De duración muy bien, aunque tampoco he estado muy activa en el frente doméstico.

Day 3: Time to take some pics of this. It's in perfect condition so far.

Day 4: In the morning, I discovered a big chip in my right finger, exactly on the same spot that is flaking and another one on one side of my thumb. Nothing to say about durability, though I haven't been very active on the house front.

Hacía días que no publicábamos ninguna entrada. Sí que hemos estado preparando algunas que necesitan más tiempo de edición de lo normal, pero hemos estado algo liadas. Dentro de un rato, toca sesión de "sillón-ball" con la F1 y esta tarde, nos vamos a un concierto.

It's been a few days since our last post. We're working on some posts that need more editing than usual but we've been a bit busy. In a few minutes, we'll be having some quality 'couchball' time with the F1 race and later, we're going to a concert in the evening.

Catrice: #420 'Dirty Berry'

Hoy vengo con una entrada cortita, para enseñaros otro de los esmaltes de Catrice que compré en Amsterdam. En esta ocasión no os puedo hacer un análisis detallado de la aplicación y duración, ya que lo estrené allí mismo y lo más que pude hacer fue pedirle a Marian que me hiciera un par de fotos.




I have a short and sweet post for you, to properly show you another Catrice polish from my Amsterdam haul. I'm afraid I cannot give you a thorough review this time as I wore this only while we were there and all I had time for was to ask Marian to snap some pics of it.

Este esmalte tiene acabado holográfico, aunque no tan llamativo como otros. Las partículas están más dispersas y resultan más sutiles, así que si queréis un esmalte holográfico ponible, seguro que éste os encanta.
Recuerdo que la aplicación fue buena y no tardó mucho en secar (sin SV). De duración no muy allá, pero puesto que estando de viaje las manicuras no suelen durar mucho -el manejar maletas, mochilas y demás suele causar estragos en seguida- supongo que tendré que usarlo más veces para hacerme una opinión formada.




This polish has a holo finish to it, though it's not as eye-catching and in-your-face as other holos out there. The holo is more scattered than in a more linear holo, which is great if you're looking for a more subtle and wearable colour. If that's the case, you'll love this one. I recall application was good and didn't take long to dry (without SV). As for its endurance it didn't fare too well but few travel manis pass that test -handling luggage, fumbling into your bags and so on usually wreaks havoc with any lacquer. I'll keep an eye on that when I wear it next.



Los esmaltes de Catrice están muy bien de precio -menos de 3 euros- y la calidad es fantástica.
Catrice polishes are very reasonably priced - less than 3 EUR- and the quality is great.
