Nuestro pedido a Buyincoins / Our Buyincoins order

En una de las entradas dedicadas a mi colección de esmaltes, comenté que apenas me quedaban espacios en mis ruedas de muestras y que había hecho un pedido a Buyincoins. A diferencia de las anteriores, en esta ocasión el pedido lo hice no por Ebay sino a la tienda online Buyincoins. Al igual que Ebay, la forma de pago es mediante Paypal, lo que me daba cierta tranquilidad. Bueno, eso y las críticas positivas que he leído últimamente.

In one of my posts featuring my nail polish collection, I mentioned that I was running out of empty spaces in my nailwheels and I let slip that I'd ordered new ones from Buyincoins. Unlike the previous ones, this time around I decided to place my order not on Ebay but at this online store. Paypal is the payment method there as well, so that gave me confidence on the store's reliability.

¿Queréis ver qué fue lo que pedimos? Hay de todo y no todo lo que hemos pedido tiene que ver con el maquillaje, pero hemos decidido enseñarlo igualmente, por si os sirve.
Los artículos de Buyincoins se sirven sin caja, pero vienen perfectamente protegidos con plástico de burbujas. Los gastos de envío (envío normal) son gratis, aunque yo al ser la primera vez preferí pagar algo más de un euro para que me llegara certificado. El envío ha transcurrido sin problemas y ha sido bastante rápido, así que probablemente la próxima vez opte por el envío ordinario.

Wanna see what we got? There's a little bit of everything, and not all is make-up related, but we'd like to share that too, anyway, in the hope that you may find it useful. The items purchased at Buyincoins do not come in a cardboard box but wrapped in bubble wrap. Shipping (standard) is free, though as I was a new customer there, I opted for signed-for delivery with tracking. I had to pay a little more than a euro for that. Shipping was fast and without any problems whatsoever, so I'll probably choose the standard free shipping next time.

* Bolsas para guardar la ropa al vacío / Space saver storage bags for clothing:

Podéis encontrar bolsas similares en Ikea, pero como -de momento- por aquí cerca no hay, decidimos probar estas. Tenían una oferta de 3x2 en las de 50x70cm. Ya hemos usado dos y la tercera será para mi madre. Queríamos ver si servían para algo o eran, hablando en plata, una mierda. Aunque la calidad probablemente sea inferior a las de otras tiendas, si tenéis un poco de cuidado y paciencia, cumplen su función. Al sistema de cierre lateral tipo zip cuesta un poco cogerle el punto. Como yo no tengo paciencia, de eso se encargó la "manitas" de la casa, Marian, que os ha ha preparado un video en su canal por si os interesa ver cómo funcionan.





You can find similar items at Ikea, for instance, but since there's no Ikea around here (yet), we decided to check these out first. They had an offer on the 50x70cm space bags, B2G3. We've used two of them so far and will give the other to our mum to try. We wondered if these were any good, considering the low price or were just crap and destined to begin and end their days on the dustin upon arrival. Although I suppose the quality of these is considerably lower than those available from other stores, if you're careful and patient, they do the job. The side ziplock is a bit tricky to deal with. As I have little patience myself, I left that handy, delicate job -lol- to my sister, the acknowledged DIYer here. She's done and uploaded a video to her YT channel for you to watch if you're interested in these bags.

Funciona con dos pilas. Es el único artículo que aún no hemos probado. Ya os diremos qué tal va cuando lo hagamos.

It operates with two batteries. It's the only item we haven't tried yet. We'll let you know how well it works when we do.



* Fundas expandibles para brochas / Brush guards:

Están disponibles en dos versiones, en un único ancho y de un metro de longitud, que son las que hemos pedido y en un paquete surtido de quince. Están pendientes de estreno.

These are available in two sorts, a 'one size fits all' one metre long, which are the ones we've ordered and in an assorted bag including 15 guards. Haven't used them yet.



* Ruedas de muestra / Nailwheels:

Pedí un total de diez. Podéis comprarlas sueltas o bien en lotes de cinco. Son ligeramente más blanquecinas que las del vendedor de Ebay que utilicé para las de ese tamaño. Marian y yo las compartiremos como buenas hermanas.

I ordered a total of ten. These are available individually or in lots of 5. These are slightly whiter than my previous set of the same kind from Ebay. Marian and I will be sharing those, as good sisters do.

Hasta hace poco, la única forma que conocía de depotar sombras, era calentando la caja de la sombra con una velita, hasta que se calentara el plástico y empezara a derretirse un poco (con lo mal que huele), y después, empujar con un cuchillo o algo punzante para que saliera el godet. Hicimos un vídeo hace tiempo en el que depotábamos sombras de esta forma.
También supe de otra alternativa en esta entrada de teufeu.

The only way I knew of depotting eyeshadows (until now) consisted of heating the eyeshadow box with a candle until the plastic started to melt (it smells horrible), and after that, pushing with a knife or something like that to get the pan taken out. We made a video some time ago in which we depotted eyeshadows this way. I also knew another way to do the same thing in this post from teufeu.

Pues bien, hoy os traigo otra forma para mí más fácil (y creo que también más segura, porque no hay que llegar a derretir el plástico) de depotar sombras. ¿Cómo? Con la placa vitrocerámica (creo que las de inducción no sirven para esto), un trozo de papel de horno, un cutter y un alfiler o un imperdible.

Well, today I'm bringing you another way easier for me (and safer, I think, because the plastic doesn't melt) of depotting eyeshadows. How? With a ceramic cooktop (I think that induction ones are not suitable for this), a piece of baking paper, a cutter and a pin (or a safety pin).

Si tenéis que depotar muchas sombras al mismo tiempo, quizá tengáis que dejar encendido el fuego al mínimo (como tuve que hacer yo), porque con el calor que quedaba en la placa después de apagada no era suficiente.
En otros videos de youtube he visto depotar sombras con las planchas para el pelo, pero como no tenemos, lo hicimos así.

If you have to depot several eyeshadows at the same time, maybe you will have to keep the cooktop on at a minimum heat (as I had to do), because the remaining heat after turning it off wasn't enough. I have watched other videos on YT in which eyeshadows were depotted with a hair straightener, but as we don't have one, we did it this way.

En esta ocasión me gustaría enseñaros otro de nuestros esmaltes de la ya desaparecida gama Multidimensión. Digo nuestros ya que este esmalte lo tenemos por duplicado, tanto Marian como yo. Es un tono ideal si queréis darle un toque especial a vuestras uñas sin que se note demasiado. Lo bueno de este tipo de tonos es que apenas se os notará cuando empiece a desconcharse -genial si lo queréis usar estando de vacaciones.

I'd like you to meet another of our Essence polishes, from the now defunct Multidimension range. I said our because it's both in Marian's and my own collection. It's a great shade it you want to give your nails a nice little touch but still keep it subtle. The good thing about colours like this is that chipping is barely noticeable and you can get away with it going almost unnoticed -which is great if you want to wear this while on holiday, for instance.

Día 1: Aplico una capa de endurecedor de Bpretty, que compré en un BIPA en Viena y una capa gruesa de este esmalte. No aplico Seche Vite, ya que pensaba hacerme una estampación antes. La aplicación es buena, al igual que el tiempo de secado. La línea de la uña se ve, así que si eso os molesta, podéis probar a dar otra capa. A mí no me importa demasiado.

Day 1: I apply one coat of nail hardener from Bpretty, which I got at a BIPA drugstore in Vienna and one thick coat of this polish. No Seche Vite, as I intend to spice it up with some nail stamping later. Application is good and so is drying time. Nail line is still visible, so if that bothers you, you can always give it another coat. I don't really mind.

Día 2: En perfecto estado, como cabría esperar. A media tarde, hago una estampación usando el '710 Soulful' de P2. Aunque como esmalte de base me costó conseguir una cobertura uniforme por lo pastoso, ha funcionado francamente bien como esmalte de estampación. Si tuviera mejor mano y practicara más, supongo que habría quedado incluso mejor. Utilizo un diseño de la placa de Konad que compré en Beautik Salamanca. Después, aplico Seche Vite en las dos uñas que he decorado -con un pequeño accidente en la mano izquierda, mientras guardo los útiles de estampación.

Day 2: Still looking great, as expected. Late in the afternoon, I did some stamping with '710 Soulful' from P2. As troublesome as it was as a base colour -too thick and hard to achieve a neat, even coverage with it, it did extremely well as a stamping polish. If I were more talented and practised more, I could have got even better results. I used one of the designs in the Konad plate that I got at Beautik Salamanca. I applied Seche Vite to my two accent nails -with a minor accident on my left hand as I was storing my stamping equipment.

Al lavarme el pelo se desconcharon las puntas, aunque como es clarito, no se nota salvo de cerca.

I washed my hair and chipping and tipwear made an appearance, but were hard to see unless close-up.

UDLS/NOTW: Essence 'Hide Bella Hide'.

Aquí estoy con mis uñas de la semana. En esta ocasión, con otro esmalte que compré hace muchos meses (ya no recuerdo cuántos), y tenía todavía pendiente de estrenar. Se trata del esmalte de Essence "Hide Bella Hide", de la EL "Eclipse"; una de las de los vampiros. El color de este esmalte es facilísimo de definir: plata.

Here I am with my nails of the week. This time with another polish I bought many months ago (I can't remember how many of them), and was on queue, waiting for a first use. It's the polish 'Hide Bella Hide', from the LE 'Eclipse' from Essence; one of those about the vampires. The shade of this polish is super easy to define: silver.




Primer día: Aplico una capa del gel de calcio de Basic, dos capas finas de este esmalte (de maravillosa cobertura, por cierto) y una capa de Seche Vite.

First day: I apply one coat of the calcium gel from Basic, two thin coats of this polish (wonderful coverage, btw), and one coat of Seche Vite on top.

Tercer día: Fotos.

Third day: Pics.

Cuarto día: Todavía perfecto. Después de lavarme el pelo, veo dos pequeños desconchones: uno en el dedo medio de la mano derecha y otro en el índice de la izquierda. Como sólo se ven si uno se fija mucho, no me despintaré las uñas todavía. A ver cuánto aguantan.

Fourth day: Still perfect. After a hair wash, I see two small chippings: one of them on the right hand middle finger and the other one on the left index finger. As they're not very visible, I'm not removing the polish yet. Let's see how long they last.

Quinto día: los pequeños desconchones empiezan a ser ya más evidentes (algunos incluso demasiado), por lo que decido despintarme las uñas. Cinco días no está mal, ¿no?

Fifth day: those small chippings start to be more and more visible (some of them are too visible), that's why I decide to remove the polish. 5 days of wear is not so bad, is it?

Ha sido mi fiel compañero y me ha proporcionado miles de horas de disfrute musical. Además, le tenía un cariño especial, ya que fue un regalo inesperado de una ex-alumna que fue de vacaciones a EEUU. De Nueva York a mi casita, me ha acompañado en viajes, ha pasado de un bolso a otro, ha sido maltratado por la que suscribe durante cerca de cinco años. Pero hoy ha dicho: ¡Basta!





It has been my faithful companion and has given me thousands of hours of musical delight. I was quite attached to it, as it had a certain sentimental value to it: it was the unexpected present of a former student of mine, who went on holiday to the States. From NYC to my home and many trips, has been ruthlessly tossed from one bag to the next, mistreated by the undersigned for about five years. Today was the day. He'd had enough.

Lector electrónico Sony PRS-T1 / E-book reader Sony PRS-T1

Os presento mi flamante primer lector de libros electrónicos, que espero me dure muchos años. Como ya comenté en las últimas entradas sobre libros, llevaba tiempo dándole vueltas a la idea de hacerme con uno, por aquello de ahorrar espacio en nuestras ya atestadas estanterías.
Tras un par de semanas leyendo opiniones, críticas en páginas especializadas, recorriendo tiendas físicas y demás, el elegido fue el nuevo lector de Sony, el PRS-T1, que salió a la venta en octubre de este año, si no me equivoco.




Meet my brand-new and first e-book reader, which I hope to get many years of service from. As I let slip in previous book reviews, I'd been thinking about getting one of these for a while, namely to save some precious space in our already overflowing shelves. After a couple of weeks of some serious searching, reading online reviews in specialized websites and checking out several of our local stores, the winner was the Sony Reader PRS-T1, which if I'm not mistaken appeared on the market in October this year -that is, last month.

El mío lo compré en Hipercor (grupo El Corte Inglés) y costó -aunque fue un regalo, evidentemente no ha sido una sorpresa- 179€. Tienen en oferta la funda con luz, por lo que finalmente el total fue de 218€. Sin embargo, no disponían de la funda en stock y aunque tuvimos que pagarla por adelantado, todavía no ha llegado.
Por otra parte, Hipercor tenía en el catálogo una oferta por la que acumulas un 10% de las compras para gastar en la primera quincena de diciembre en cualquier sección. Así que disponemos de un vale que nos hará un poco más llevaderas las compras navideñas (a nuestro bolsillo, principalmente).

I'll leave the following link with all the technical details of the reader from the Sony website. We bought mine from Hipercor (part of the El Corte Inglés group) and price was 179 EUR. It was a present but definitely not a surprise and I therefore know how much she had to fork out for it. They had a special deal on the reader + case (the lit one), so the final price was 218 EUR, but they didn't have it in stock, so we had to pay for it in advance and hopefully get it soon. I know this device is probably cheaper online, but I didn't want to risk it and have problems at customs, getting a faulty device and the lot so I decided buying local would be best. Hipercor also had an offer and they gave us a 10% voucher to be spent on any section of the store in the first fortnight of December, so our Christmas shopping list will be a bit easier to manage -our wallets will surely appreciate it.

Ahora mismo me encuentro leyendo mi segundo libro. Quizá le habría dado más caña de tener la funda, pero no me atrevo a usarla apenas en la cama por si me quedo dormida y me cargo la pantalla o algo. Marian de momento ha hecho un pequeño "proyecto costuril" para el "bicho" hasta tenerla.

I'm currently reading my second e-book on it. I'd probably have used this a lot more had I got the case in my possession already, but as it is I'm a bit afraid of getting into bed for a nightime read without it being properly protected. I don't want to fall asleep and wake up to a broken touchscreen or something. Marian has done a small sewing DIY project to store the device until the case comes.





Este lector está disponible en tres colores: negro, frambuesa y blanco. Yo opté por el blanco, ya que las primeras críticas mencionaban que en el negro podía molestar un poco el reflejo de la pantalla en el marco, ya que éste no es mate sino brillante. De momento, no le he quitado el plástico que protege los laterales. Como véis, lo "mimo" mucho, jeje.

The reader is available in three different colours: black, raspberry red and white. I chose it in white, as apparently the first reviewers complained of some disturbing reflection from the screen onto the frame which is not made of a matte material but has a glossy finish to it. I haven't even removed the protective film on the sides yet. You see, I'm taking good care of my baby, lol.

Os dejo con un video "electoral" muy gracioso. No entiendo el gasto inútil en campaña electoral cuando total, en la tele ya te sacarán alguna coplilla - y porque la mayoría de la gente ya tiene claro a quien votar sin campaña de por medio.
