UDLS/ NOTW; Essence Colour & Go # 24 'Underwater'

Hoy vengo con otro esmalte de Essence, de la gama Colour&Go. Se trata del tono 'Underwater' que fue retirado hace poco, en marzo de 2011. Mi hermana compró el suyo en Berlín y le costó 0,95 € y yo lo hice también en la discontinuación, pero ya aquí. El mío me costó unos céntimos más, 0,99 €. Mi hermana todavía no ha estrenado el suyo, pero yo me he propuesto usar todos los esmaltes que tengo sin estrenar para comentaros aunque sea mis primeras impresiones.

Aquí no suelen hacer las discontinuaciones de Essence y muchas veces, los productos que colocan aparte son las típicas chorraditas que nadie compra y encima suelen estar a 1,50 €, por lo que no nos suelen compensar.

I'm back with another Essence polish, from the Colour&Go line. 'Underwater' was discontinued recently, in March 2011. My sister bought hers in Berlin for only € 0.95 and I did so here for a few cents more, € 0.99.

My sister hasn't used hers yet, but I'm making an effort to at least use all my current untrieds on a first impressions post.

Our local store seldom does the discontinuation at the recommended retail price and the products they set aside, at €1.50 are not usually worth paying that little extra money.

'Underwater' es un esmalte azul marino con unos brillitos muy sutiles también en azul. Como suele suceder, esos brillitos se notan más en el frasco que en las uñas. Hay que fijarse bien para verlos, aunque se notan un poquito más cuando le da el sol.

'Underwater' is a navy blue polish with very subtle blue shimmer to it. As pretty much always, the shimmer is more noticeable in the bottle than on the nails. You get to see it when you take a closer look or in the sunlight.

Día 1: Por la noche, aplico una capa de base de P2, otra gruesa de este esmalte y Seche Vite. La consistencia es buena y el esmalte es bastante cubriente. Me entra la duda de si manchará las uñas cuando me lo quite pero no, no lo hace.

Day 1: At night, I apply one coat of P2's Base Coat, a thick one of this polish and then Seche Vite. Consistency is good and so is coverage. As I'm painting them, I start to wonder whether this one will stain my nails when I remove it -but no, it doesn't.

Día 2: A mediodía me llevo una sorpresa desagradable, un superdesconchón en el índice de la mano derecha. He estado limpiando -usé guantes- pero tampoco fue para que se me pelara el esmalte ya al día siguiente. ¿Casualidad? Por la noche, tengo un pequeño desconchón en el dedo medio de la mano derecha. De duración, de entrada no me parece plan tener desconchones en el primer día completo.

Day 2: In the afternoon, I get a nasty surprise in the form of a huge chip in my right index fingernail. I've been doing some cleaning -with gloves- but not so much as to have chips on my first full day with it imo. Just a coincidence? At night, I notice a small one on my right middle finger. I don't think getting chipped polish in my first full day with it is quite right, isn't it?

Día 3: Por la mañana, el desconchón del dedo corazón es ya más visible y se va notando el desgaste en las puntas de las otras uñas. Tocó también limpieza en casa, aunque como siempre, con guantes. Por la tarde, gran desconchón en el meñique derecho. Eso me ha dejado ojiplática: creo que en esa uña jamás en toda mi vida se me había estropeado el esmalte. De duración, mejorable. Me las quito a última hora de la tarde. Punto muy a su favor: no me ha manchado las uñas -con los tonos muy oscuros o de colores muy estrambóticos nunca se sabe- aunque evidentemente, dejaré pasar un par de días antes de volvérmelas a pintar.

Day 3: In the morning, the chipping in my middle finger is more visible and other nails are beginning to show tipwear. Again, it was cleaning day at home -with gloves. Late in the afternoon, I'm astonished to see a huge chip in my right pinky. Chipped polish on my pinky?? Wtf? Are you kiddin' me? That's a first for me, girls. Frankly, I expected this to wear a lot better. I decided to take it off in the evening. In it's favour, I have to say that it didn't stain my nails at all -with very dark colours or very eccentric shades you never know- though I'll be waiting a couple of days before painting my nails again.

Conclusión: Un color de moda, similar a otros de marcas más caras. No me ha aguantado mucho intacto, pero como estuve de limpieza, debo ser justa y darle otra oportunidad.

To sum up: A very trendy shade, similar to others from high-end brands. It didn't wear well on me, but since I was doing a little bit of house cleaning, I'll be fair and give it another chance.

Si no me equivoco, de momento, con esta quinta entrega finaliza nuestra colección de productos de NYX. En esta ocasión, os enseñaremos nuestras sombras: las de marox y las mías.
Las pidió marox por Ebay, y estaba previsto que fueran una para cada una, pero por problemas en el pedido de los glosses que no llegaba pasado más de un mes, mandaron otro equivocado, con sombras en lugar de glosses. Una vez comunicado este hecho al vendedor, nos dijo que nos quedáramos con el pedido. Y poco después (si no recuerdo mal), llegó el famoso pedido que creíamos perdido en algún lugar del mundo.
Bueno, no sé si después de toda esta explicación os habréis enterado de algo. Espero que sí.

If I'm not mistaken, Part 5 is going to be the last in our NYX products series. This time, we'd like to show you our eyeshadows, both from marox and myself.
Marox ordered these on Ebay and they were only supposed to be one for each, but our order had not arrived after more than a month had elapsed, and then they sent us a wrong order, with eyeshadows instead of glosses. Once we told the seller about this fact, he told us to keep the stuff we had received. And a few days later (if I'm not mistaken), the famous order we thought was lost somewhere on the way here, finally arrived.
Well, I don't know if you will have understood all this explanation. I hope so.

Así que sin más preámbulos, voy a enseñaros las sombras en cuestión, que es el propósito de esta entrada.

So without further ado, I'm showing you the aforementioned eyeshadows, which is the purpose of this post.

Os presento a mis sombritas de NYX. La que había pedido en principio era la última, pero la verdad es que me alegro de que se equivocaran, porque las demás son preciosas.

Now meet my NYX eyeshadows. I just ordered the last one, but actually I'm glad they made a mistake, because the rest are very nice.



Y ahora, las de marox. Ella había pedido la cuarta, pero las otras también son bien bonitas.

And now, marox's ones. She ordered just the fourth one, but the others are also beautiful.



Como veis, después de todo este lío de pedido, al final tenemos 2 sombras en común. Y todas las demás, han sido muy bienvenidas. Pobrecitas, no tenían culpa de nada.

As you can see, after all this mess, we finally have 2 eyeshadows in common. And the rest of them have been very welcome. Poor them, it was not their fault.

Haul: Mercadona...

Hace un par de horitas nos hemos pasado por Mercadona, a echar un vistazo a las novedades de la sección de cosmética: las nuevas sombras, los jumbos de ojos y de labios, esmaltes de uñas y no... ya os adelantamos que no hemos regresado con las manos vacías. La que más ha cargado -cosa rara-, ha sido Marian.

We popped into Mercadona -for more info on these Spanish supermarkets read *this* post- a few hours ago to have a look at the new goodies in the cosmetics aisle: the new eyeshadows, jumbo eye and lip pencils, nail polishes... and no, we didn't leave the store empty-handed. Marian hauled the most, for a change.

Aquí podéis ver en primer lugar las compras de Marian: cuatro de las seis nuevas sombras Platinum. Como podéis ver son sombras abombaditas (tipo 'esferas' de Kiko). Cuestan 3.90€ cada sombra. También ha comprado todos los nuevos jumbos de ojos resistentes al agua: hielo, verde menta, champagne y violeta. De los nuevos jumbos de labios sólo tenían uno de los tonos, el melocotón, pero como no nos ha terminado de convencer, allí se quedó -y mejor, porque nos hemos dejado buenos cuartos al pasar por caja. Todos los jumbos, ya sean de ojos o de labios valen 2€. Y por último, nos hemos traído uno de los tres "mini-esmaltes" que habían traido a nuestro Mercadona más cercano: el tono 213 -que como todos los tonos que llevan tres cifras en la referencia, son de edición limitada. Lo mejor: el precio -¡un eurito, chicas! Y por cierto, de mini tienen poco, ya que traen 8ml, más que otros esmaltes de otras marcas que se venden como de tamaño normal.
En la foto también podéis ver una sombra de Essence que compró hoy mismo en Schlecker, después de flamenco. Es una sombra de acabado mate en tono gris. Es la #47 'Earl Grey'.

First of all you can see Marian's purchases: four of the new range of Platinum eyeshadows -they were six in total. They are similar to the Kiko colour spheres, dome-shaped and so on. These are 3,90 EUR each. She also got all the new waterproof jumbo eye pencils : ice, mint green, champagne and violet. Our nearest Mercadona only had one of the new jumbo lip pencils, the one in 'Peach', but we didn't like that one very much and left it on the shelf. It's just as well we did, since the total amount at the checkout was quite hefty as it was. All jumbo pencils are € 2 each. And finally, she got one of the three 'mini-nail polishes' our supermarket had received: the shade 213 -note that all the shades with three figures in their reference number are limited edition items. The best thing about them was the price: just one euro, girls! And they're not that mini either, with 8ml of product, larger than those of some brands marketed as standard sized.

There's an Essence eyeshadow in the pic, because Marian popped into Schlecker right after her flamenco lesson. It's a matte grey shade, #47 'Earl Grey'.

Y las compras de Marox, que estuvo más comedida por una vez. Tres de las sombritas, el mismo esmalte y la misma sombra de Essence -regalo de Marian-. Los jumbos de ojos le parecieron demasiado cremosos, a pesar de la etiqueta 'waterproof'.

And next are Marox's purchases, more restrained for a change. Three of the eyeshadows, the same nail polish and eyeshadow -a gift from Marian. She thought the new jumbo eye pencils were too creamy for being really waterproof.

¿Os han gustado nuestras compritas? Vale, ya sé lo que estáis pensando, que las fotos os han sabido a poco. Bueeeenooo, pues aquí tenéis otra sesión de spy-cam con el móvil de Marox. La verdad es que han quedado bastante bien.

Did you like what we got? Ok, I know what you're thinking, you couldn't get enough of them! Well, we're feeling generous today so here you are, another session of spy-cam courtesy of marox's mobile phone. Truth is they turned out real fine.

El expositor de las nuevas sombras Platinum. De izq. a dcha.: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 y 06. La 02 nos pareció demasiado purpurinosa (muy discotequera, vamos) y la 06 (que veis "chuacheada" en el dedo) nos recordó bastante a una de nuestras sombras de Nyx, la 'Morocco', que os enseñaremos muy pronto.

The new range of eyeshadows. L-R: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 and 06. 02 was too sparkly (read disco-ball) for our liking and 06 -which is swatched in the picture- seemed similar to Morocco from Nyx -which we have and will share with you soon.

And these are the new LE mini-lacquers, at least the ones available at our nearest Mercadona supermarket. Come on, ladies! Only one euro, one euro each! (Read in a street-seller voice).

En el foro Vogue, que estuve visitando antes de ir a Mercadona para hacerme una idea de lo que me iba a encontrar, he visto una foto con varios esmaltes más de los nuevos. Son de la usuaria 'marykilla' y los tonos que véis son los siguientes: Naranja Nº 208 (no sale en la *revista*), Verde turquesa Nº 213, Rosa Nº 215, Malva Nº 211 y Rojo 210.

I paid a quick visit to the Deliplus thread on the Vogue Spain forum to get an idea of what to expect and found this picture, uploaded by the user 'marykilla'. Como ya os dijimos en un post anterior, habíamos hecho fotos de la paleta de la You Rock, y de los “chuaches”. Pues bien, ahora os las vamos a enseñar.

As we already told you on a previous post, we had taken photos of the 'You Rock' eyeshadow palette, and also of the swatches. OK, you're going to see them right now.

La estética de la paleta me recuerda (salvando las distancias, por supuesto), a las de las ediciones limitadas de Too Faced o Urban Decay.

The packaging of this palette reminds me (up to a point, of course) of those from Too Faced or Urban Decay LEs.

Como veis, los colores son bastante ponibles. Hay uno que me ha encantado, y es el primero por la izquierda de la fila de abajo. A ver qué look me invento usando esta sombra.

Las sombras pigmentan muy bien, aunque he de decir que cuando intenté pasarlas del dedo al brazo, la pigmentación se había reducido a la mitad. No las he probado todavía con pincel.

As you can see, the shades are very wearable. There's one shade that I love, the first one (from the left) on the second row. Now I have to think of a look using this eyeshadow.

These eyeshadows are very pigmented, although I must say that when I tried to swatch them on my arm (from my fingertips), the colour payoff was not that good. I haven't tried them with a brush.

La paleta trae también un lápiz de ojos en negro y un aplicador 2-en-1: por un lado un pincel y por otro un aplicador de espuma. En la tapa tiene un espejo de un tamaño bastante aceptable.

El lápiz lo probé en la mano, y puedo decir que es muy cremoso, y que me costó mucho quitármelo. También pigmenta muy bien.

The palette includes also an eyepencil in black and a 2-in-1 applicator: a little brush on one side and a foam applicator at the other. It also has a decent-sized mirror on the lid. I tried the pencil on my hand, and I can say it's very creamy, and actually took me a while to take it off. Pigmentation was also very good.

Antes de nada, perdonad por la tardanza. Llevo unos días sin escribir, pero entre el trabajo, los ensayos para la gala de fin de curso de flamenco y demás, pues eso: que nunca encontraba el tiempo para sentarme ante el ordenador para preparar esta entrada.

First of all, I apologize for my delay. It's been quite a long time without uploading a new post, but my job, the rehearsals for the flamenco 'end of course' show and all that stuff have kept me busy, so I never found the time to sit down in front of my PC and prepare this entry.

Marox os presentó nuestros brillos de NYX (los más pigmentados del mundo mundial), y os enseñó cómo quedaban los suyos. Así que hoy voy a hacer lo mismo con los míos.

Marox already introduced you our NYX lipglosses (the most pigmented lipglosses in the entire world), and showed how they looked on her. So I'm doing the same with mine.




Como podéis ver, el más discreto de todos es el primero, perfecto para diario.
Los otros dos, mejor para fiesta, porque son muy "potentes", pero me encantan.
Estos dos últimos se ven muy parecidos en la foto, pero la verdad es que no lo son tanto. El "Burgundy" es un color cereza, y el "Maroon" es un rojo vino oscuro (aunque en el envase se ve muy marrón).

As you can see, the first one is the most discreet, perfect for an everyday look.
The other two are better for party time, because they are very bold, but I love them.
They seem very similar in the pics, but they look different in real life. 'Burgundy' is a cherry-red colour, and 'Maroon' is the colour of dark red wine (although in the tube it seems dark brown).

Mi opinión sobre ellos no puede ser mejor: excelente pigmentación, la aplicación es muy buena y no deja sensación pegajosa en los labios, si bien con el paso de las horas, tienden a rellenarse de color los pequeños pliegues encima del labio superior. Esto pasa sobre todo con los colores oscuros. Pese a este pequeño inconveniente, repetiré seguro.

My opinion about them can't be better: excellent pigmentation, very good application, it doesn't leave a sticky feeling on the lips. But as hours go by, the small folds over the upper lip tend to be filled in with the colour of the lipgloss. This happens mainly with dark shades. Despite this little con, I'd buy them again.

UDLS / NOTW: Kiko #253

Este es el segundo esmalte de Kiko que estreno. Es el tono #253, un rosa vivo con brillos/ base azulada. Fue una de las *compras* que hice en Madrid. Los esmaltes de Kiko cuestan ahora 2,50 €, aunque no sé cuánto tiempo durará la oferta. Contienen 11 ml de producto, lo cual está muy bien.

This is the second Kiko polish I've used so far. It's the shade #253, a very bright pink with blue shimmer/undertones to it. It was part of my *Madrid haul*. Kiko polishes are now € 2.50, but I don't know how long that offer will stand. You get 11 ml of product, which is great.

Como veis, lo he usado en los pies. Ahora en verano, este tipo de tonos quedan muy alegres.

En las manos, rara vez me pongo tonos tan llamativos -hice una excepción *aqui* para enseñaros el 'Big Spender Wanted' de Catrice debidamente.

As you can see, I used this on my feet. These shades look great in the summer, so bright and colourful. I seldom use eye-catching colours in my hands -I made an exception *here* in order to show you 'Big Spender Wanted' properly.

Apliqué una capa de la base de P2, otra de este esmalte y rematé con una del 'High Shine Top Coat' de Essence, que no me gusta pero que hay que gastar. El esmalte es muy cubriente, por lo que si lo aplicáis bien, con una capa es perfectamente suficiente.

I applied one coat of P2's 'Base and Care Coat', another one of this and then the 'High Shine Top Coat' from Essence, which I hate but I have to finish. It's quite opaque, so if you're careful with the application you can probably get away with just one coat.

Un par de días después de pintarme las uñas, se me desconchó un poco la uña del dedo gordo del pie izquierdo, pero al no usar mi adorado SV pudo deberse a eso. Lo tuve puesto unos diez días.

A couple of days later I got some minor chipping on my big toenail, but since I didn't use my HG topcoat, i.e. SV, that could explain it. I had this one on for about ten days.

Si encontráis algún esmalte de Kiko que os guste, aprovechad que ahora están más baratos, porque están muy bien y hay muchísimos colores donde elegir.

If there's a Kiko polish that you spot and like, go ahead and grab it now that they're cheaper. They're very good quality and there's a ton of shades to choose from.
