Hoy vengo con una entrada rapidita. Ya tocaba enseñaros alguna manicura entre tanto post de viajes y demás.
Este esmalte lo compré en liquidación en una tienda local de productos de peluquería y me llamó la atención especialmente el acabado.

I'm here today with a short and sweet blog post. It was about time I showed you a mani, after so many travel-related posts and so on.
I grabbed this polish from the clearance basket and I was drawn to it by the finish.

This shade looks ideal for both the spring and summer, don't you think?

Este esmalte tiene un tono muy bonito para la primera o el verano, ¿no os parece?

En cuanto a la aplicación, recordad que los esmaltes de tono pastel suelen requerir algo de paciencia para conseguir que quede un color uniforme, sin zonas con poco esmalte. Yo di algunos "puntitos" de esmalte en algunos puntos para lograrlo. Es lo que menos me gusta de los esmaltes de tonos pastel, que no son para ir con prisas.

Applicationwise, remember that polishes with a pastel finish take some patience in order to achieve an even coverage, without patches. I dotted some polish on several spots to prevent this. This is certainly a pet peeve, pastel polishes are not the 'go-to' polish when you're in a hurry.

Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry Haul

Aquí estamos de nuevo para enseñaros las compras que hemos hecho últimamente.

Here we are again to show you the purchases we've made recently.

1 - Crema corporal con aceite de Jojoba de Deliplus (marox): Cogí este producto, una de las últimas novedades de Mercadona en mi última visita a dicho supermercado. Probé el tester en la tienda y me pareció que hidrataría bien, además de que me gustó el olor.
Hidrata bastante bien, más que las Fruit Fusion, por ejemplo. Precio: 1,90€.

2- Esmalte de secado Poshé: Aprovechando que le iba a coger uno a Marian por su cumpleaños, me pedí otro para mí. Lo compré al vendedor de Ebay nailswestcom y me costaron 7,50$ cada uno (el vendedor no hace descuento por envío combinado, pero marcó sólo la mitad del importe en la declaración de aduanas).

3- Esmalte 'Grunge Me Tender' de la EL 'Floral Grunge' de Essence: Lo tenían en Bustillo en liquidación a 1,29€ y decidí darle una oportunidad. Ya lo he usado y os lo enseñaré pronto, pero aquí os dejo un adelanto.

En una visita a Bodybell (desde que venden Essence vamos con más frecuencia que antes), nos hicimos con los siguientes productos.

4 y 5- Brillo de labios de Essence en el tono "Me & my icecream", de la línea "Stay with me" (Marian). Es un tono rosa clarito. Por el que sí nos decidimos las dos fue por el brillo de labios, también de Essence "Deep Rose". Es un tono rosado liláceo, que nos encantó. Costaron 1,29€ cada uno.

6- Lápiz de ojos resistente al agua de Essence, de la línea "Stays no matter what", en el tono "Midnight black" (Marian). Hice una pequeña prueba en la tienda, y me gustó mucho su pigmentación y textura. Costó 1,99€.



7-Sombra de ojos de Essence en el tono "Out of the blue" (Marian). Es un color azul oscuro con destellitos. Costó 1,99€.

8- Esmalte de uñas de Rimmel London, de la línea "Metal Rush" (Marian). Es un esmalte duocromo, que se ve lila o verde claro según cómo le dé la luz. Todavía no lo he estrenado, pero no tardaré en hacerlo, porque es un color que me encanta.
En Mercadona hemos visto hoy unos de Astor igualitos, pero por 1,99€. Este costó 4,99€.

Bien, pues estas han sido nuestras compras hasta el momento. Habéis comprado algo últimamente?

1- Jojoba oil Body Cream from Deliplus (marox): Grabbed this new product on my latest visit to my nearest Mercadona supermarket. I tried the tester on site and thought it was moisturising enough. I also liked the pleasing smell. 
It is quite moisturising, more than their Fruit Fusion body creams, for instance. Price: €1.90.

2- Poshé topcoat: I was going to get one for Marian's birthday, so I also ordered one for myself. Seller's name is nailswestcom and I paid USD 7.50 for each bottle -the seller does not offer any discount for combined shipping, but the items were marked half their value in the Customs Declaration form-.

3- 'Grunge Me Tender' nail polish from the Essence 'Floral Grunge' LE: Our local beauty supplies store had it on the discounted basket at €1.29, so I grabbed it. I've already worn this and will show it to you on a forthcoming post, but here's a sneak peek.

On a recent visit to Bodybell (where we go much more often since they now sell Essence), we bought the items below.

4 and 5- Essence lipgloss in the shade 'Me & my icecream', from the range 'Stay with me' (Marian). It's a light pink shade. Both Marox and I decided to buy the Essence lipgloss 'Deep Rose', in a lilac pink shade, which we loved at once. They cost €1.29 each.

6- Waterproof eyepencil from Essence, from the range 'Stays no matter what', in the shade 'Midnight Black' (Marian). I made a swatch at the store, and I liked both its pigmentation and the texture. It cost €1.99.

7- Essence eyeshadow in the shade 'Out of the blue' (Marian), in a dark blue shade with reflections. It cost €1.99.

8- Nail polish from Rimmel London, from the range 'Metal Rush' (Marian). It's a duochrome polish, with either a lilac or a light green shade, depending on how the light hits on it. I haven't used it yet, but I guess this won't take long, because I love the shade. 
We went shopping to a Mercadona supermarket today and saw a cheaper dupe from Astor, that was only €1.99. This cost €4.99.

Productos Terminados / 'Finito' products

¿Preparadas para conocer los productos que hemos "finiquitado" últimamente?
Pues aquí los tenéis.

Are you ready to see the products we've used up lately? Well, here you have them.

1- Máscara de pestañas 'Blackmania' de Essence: Ya llevaba un tiempo queriéndola dar por terminada, pero como todavía seguía saliendo producto... Tengo otra igual para usar y probablemente aproveche la discontinuación para hacerme con alguna otra para tener repuesto, si es que queda alguna.
Antes de tirarla, limpié el cepillito para que le sirviera a mi madre para teñirse las cejas.

2 - Colonia de imitación de Saphir 'Pink' (= Flower by Kenzo): Hace ya bastantes años que gastamos los perfumes de imitación de esta marca, de venta en algunas cadenas de perfumería tipo Avenida y perfumerías locales. Traen 200ml, así que duran un montón y cuestan unos 13€, dependiendo de dónde lo compréis. Ultimamente, les estamos siendo "infieles" con los de "La Botica de los Perfumes", que si bien traen menos cantidad tiene algunas imitaciones (no todas, ojo) más logradas que las de Saphir.

3 - Bálsamo de labios de Biocura (supermercados Aldi): Vienen en paquetes de tres y no llegan a dos euros. Tienen una composición muy natural y son muy hidratantes, aunque si los queréis usar antes de pintaros los labios es mejor no ser muy generosa al aplicarlo o retirar el exceso con un tissu.
Truco: Saqué el producto restante con ayuda de un palito y lo mezclé con un bálsamo de Essence que me resulta algo seco y mejoró un montón. ¡Aquí no se tira nada!

4 - Esmalte base de P2: Doy ya por terminada esta base para las uñas que compramos en Berlín hace ya varios años, en las perfumerías DM (de visita obligada si vais a Alemania). Ya estaba muy espesa y el pincel no llegaba a coger el producto del fondo. Está muy bien para el precio que tiene y no me importaría repetir si tuviera acceso a la marca. (Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren von DM - Bitte öffnen Sie DM-Geschäfte in Spanien!!).

5- Champú Oro líquido de Deliplús. Hemos estado usándolo las dos, pero sobre todo Marian. Nos ha gustado la textura cremosa y el olor que deja en el pelo.
Lo compramos cuando formaba parte de un pack que incluía además, el sérum y la mascarilla. Ahora que se pueden comprar los productos por separado, no descartamos repetir.

6- Exfoliante corporal "Flake Away" de Soap&Glory. También hemos estado usándola las dos, y nos ha encantado. Tiene el gránulo bastante grueso, y realmente notas su acción exfoliante, pero no es nada agresivo. Además, tiene un olor sutil y agradable. No nos importaría repetir, si el acceso a la marca fuera más fácil.
Tenemos entendido que se venden productos de la marca en eBay, así que si éste se encuentra entre ellos, repetir con él no será tan difícil.

7- Limpiador facial "Yes to Blueberries" de Sephora (Marian). No digo que no limpie la piel, pero deja una sensación de grasa en la piel que no me termina de gustar. Bastante grasa tengo de por sí, como para utilizar un producto limpiador que me deje esa misma sensación.
No repetiré con él.



Estos han sido los productos que hemos terminado más recientemente.

1- Essence 'Blackmania' mascara: I'd been meaning to officially call it finished, but I could already get product... I have another one as back up and I might get a different one that is being discontinued in the future -if there are any left, that is.
Before tossing it away, I thoroughly cleaned the wand to help my mum dye her eyebrows.

 2- Imitation perfume by Saphir ('Pink' = Flower by Kenzo): We've been using these perfumes for many years. They're sold at many drugstore chains such as Avenida or local drugstores. The bottles have 200ml, so they will last you a long time. They cost about €13, depending on where you get them.
We're being 'unfaithful' to them lately, ever since we discovered those from 'La Botica de los Perfumes'.  Even if those are smaller, some (not all of them) of their copies are very true to the original scent and better to the Saphir versions.

3 -  Biocura lipbalm (from ALDI supermarkets): They come in a lot of three and are less than €2. The INCI has mostly natural ingredients and are very moisturising, though if you intend to use them prior to putting on some lipstick, it's best either not to be heavy handed on the application or to blot your lips a bit.
Tip: I scooped the remaining product with a toothpick and mixed it with an Essence lipbalm that is on the dry side and it worked wonders.
Here's to using products up to the very end!!


4 - P2 Basecoat: There's some product still left but it is very thick and I have a hard time getting it from the bottom of the bottle with the brush. We bought this a few years ago during our trip to Berlin at a DM drugstore (a must-see if you ever visit Germany). It's quite good for the low price and I wouldn't mind repurchasing if I had ready access to the brand (Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren von DM - Bitte öffnen Sie DM-Geschäfte in Spanien!!)



5- 'Liquid Gold' shampoo from Deliplus (sold at Mercadona supermarkets). We both have been using it, especially Marian. We like both the creamy texture and the scent it leaves on the hair.
We bought it when it was included in a pack, together with a serum and a hair mask.
Now that we can buy these products separately, we wouldn't mind buying it again.

6- 'Flake Away' body scrub from Soap&Glory.
We both have been using it as well, and we liked it very much. The scrub particles are big enough to notice their exfoliating action, though it is not overly aggresive. Besides, it has a nice, sweet but subtle scent. We wouldn't mind repurchasing if we had better access to the brand.
You can find many products from this brand on eBay, so if this one is among them, getting it again won't be that hard.



7- Facial cleansing cream 'Yes to blueberries', sold at Sephora (Marian).
Well, I'm not saying that it doesn't clean well, but it leaves a greasy feeling on the skin, which I don't like. My skin is oily enough on its own for me to use a product that leaves yet the same feeling. I won't be repeating with it.

Hotel Cervantes Paris

En esta entrada, nos gustaría hablaros del hotel que escogimos para alojarnos en París, el *Hotel Cervantes*, situado en el Barrio 8 de la capital parisina, concretamente en el número 19 de la Rue de Berne.

El hotel Cervantes es un hotel de 3 estrellas, completamente renovado. Nuestra habitación era una doble standard, con cama de matrimonio. El hotel ofrece otras habitaciones dobles, las Premium, de mayor tamaño y recomendadas para huéspedes de estancias más largas o del otro lado del Atlántico.

La habitación recuerda bastante a uno de los "ambientes" de Ikea que recrean los pequeños pisos en los que vive el común de los mortales.
Nuestra habitación era la nº 54. El paso junto a los pies de la cama quizá se hacía algo estrecho, pero todo el mobiliario de la habitación está pensado para cumplir una doble función: el cabecero incorpora unos huecos a modo de mesilla de noche y la parte superior funciona también a modo de balda.
La habitación tiene un aseo incorporado, en el que sí que se echaba de menos más espacio de almacenaje. La falta de baldas hizo que tuviéramos que ingeniárnoslas para depositar allí nuestros productos de higiene.

El personal de recepción es muy amable y servicial. Al hacer el check-in, descubrimos que el recepcionista que nos atendía era español. Nos dio además una sugerencia para no dejar sin suministro eléctrico la habitación: dejar en lugar de la tarjeta-llave del hotel, una tarjeta de fidelidad o similar, cosa que hicimos.

Volviendo al tema de la habitación, la cama era muy cómoda. Las almohadas, no tanto, pero suficiente. Como Marian siempre se lleva la suya (una del LIDL, que pesa muy poco y enrolla dentro de la maleta), marox puede usar todas las que quiera.
La habitación cuenta con una pequeña televisión de pantalla plana, con reproductor de DVD incorporado. Se reciben varios canales extranjeros: británicos, estadounidenses y también TVE.

Al hacer la reserva, tuvimos en cuenta el detalle de que la habitación contaba con minibar, con espacio suficiente para guardar algo de comer. Nos vino muy bien, puesto que nuestra reserva era en régimen de sólo alojamiento. Os diremos que la reserva del régimen de 'alojamiento y desayuno' en nuestra agencia de viajes costaba 30€ más por persona y día, lo que hacía un total de 300€ en el conjunto de la reserva. Nos pareció un atraco a mano armada. No obstante, al registrarnos en el hotel, nos dijeron que podíamos desayunar allí, al precio de 12€.
Finalmente, optamos por un plan más barato: comprar algo para desayunar y para cenar en el supermercado DIA que teníamos al final de la calle.

Pero lo que mejor nos ha venido del hotel durante nuestra estancia ha sido la excelente conexión WIFI. El hotel dispone de repetidores en todas las plantas para que la señal llegue sin problemas a todas partes, así que lo único que hay que hacer es seleccionar la red que mejor cobertura proporciona por cercanía y navegar.
Gracias al Wifi, nos hemos mantenido en contacto y esta vez, no llegamos a comprar una tarjeta de prepago como sí hicimos en Dublín.
La verdad es que lo del smartphone tiene sus ventajas, ahora me doy cuenta.

In this post, we'd like to talk about the hotel we chose to stay in Paris, the *Cervantes Hotel*, located in the 8th district of the French capital, more precisely at number 19 of Rue de Berne.

The Cervantes Hotel is a 3-star hotel that has been completely renovated. Our room was a Standard Double, with a large bed. The hotel offers another type of double rooms, the Premium ones which are recommended for people staying longer or guests coming from the other side of the Atlantic.

The room strongly reminded us of one of those Ikea 'inspiration spaces' that are close to the sort of housing most people can afford.
We were given Room 54. Going round the footboard was tricky as the passageway was quite narrow, but all the furniture has been chosen to serve a dual purpose: the headboard incorporates two nooks that work as nightstands, while the top part provides a makeshift shelving space.

The room has a 3-piece ensuite, where more storage space was most certainly wanted. The lack of shelves had us racking our brains to organize our toiletries.

As far as the reception staff is concerned, they were all very kind and helpful. When checking in, we discovered the male receptionist who took care of our booking was from Spain. He kindly gave us a very helpful tip: in order to have power supply in the room when leaving it, he suggested that we used a club card or something similar, which we did.

Back on the topic of the room, the bed was extremely comfortable. I cannot say the same about the pillows, on the average side, but I managed with them all the same. Since Marian always brings her own (a very lightweight one from LIDL that she can roll and carry in her suitcase), marox can use as many as she likes.
The room is equipped with a small flat-screen TV with a DVD player, with international channels (British, American and the Spanish TVE).

When doing our booking, we noted the fact that the room had a minibar with enough room to keep some food in it. It was a welcome addition, since our booking was for just the room. The 'room and breakfast' option provided by our travel agent's implied an extra cost of €30 per person and day, amounting to a total of €300 in our booking. That seemed a total rip-off. Strangely enough, upon checking in at the hotel, we were told we could have breakfast there everyday for €12 each.
In the end, we chose an even cheaper option: buying some breakfast and dinner at the DIA supermarket at the end of the street.

But the most convenient hotel feature was its free WIFI Internet access. The hotel has several Wifi signal repeaters throughout the building to make sure all rooms have readily access to the Internet. All you have to do is choose on your device the network providing the best signal and log into it.
Thanks to their free Wifi access we could stay in touch and this time we did not get to buy a prepaid SIM card like we did in Dublin.
Having a smartphone does have its perks, I can see that now.

Guía de viaje de París / Paris Travel Guide (I)

Por fín ha llegado el momento de desvelar dónde hemos pasado los últimos días de nuestras vacaciones. Este año la ciudad europea elegida ha sido... París. Ya sabéis, la ciudad de la luz (eléctrica), el "amour" y todo eso.

Como en otras ocasiones, reservamos nuestro viaje vuelo + hotel en nuestra agencia de viajes de confianza como un mes antes.
Por si os sirve de orientación, os diremos que el viaje (vuelo facturando una maleta + hotel en régimen de SA) para las dos, nos salió por 1.203€.

Día 1:

Salimos del aeropuerto de Madrid - Barajas en un vuelo de la compañía Air France, que salió con puntualidad y sin ningún problema. Además, a su favor tenemos que decir que aún tiene el detalle de servir un refrigerio en un vuelo de dos horas. Tomen nota, Sres. de Iberia, de que tampoco se arruinarían ustedes por comprar unas cuantas botellas grandes de agua y bricks de zumo. Es el detalle, Sres., es el detalle.

Una vez en París, ya con nuestras maletas, nos dirigimos a la oficina de turismo en la terminal 2F del aeropuerto de Roissy- Charles de Gaulle (código IATA CDG).  Dicho aeropuerto se encuentra algo más alejado de la capital que el de Orly, a unos 25 kms.
Allí compramos tanto la tarjeta 'Paris Museum Pass' para 4 días como la de transporte 'Paris Visite', para las zonas 1-3 y que da derecho a utilizar la red de transporte público, ya sean autobuses, metro o trenes de cercanías RER. El precio por persona de la tarjeta turística fue de 54€ y el de la de transporte fue de 33,70€.

Para llegar hasta nuestro hotel, tuvimos que adquirir en la misma oficina de turismo, un billete de tren hasta la estación de Gare du Nord por 9,50 € cada uno. Desde allí, tomamos el metro hasta la estación "Rome", situada a escasos 200 metros de nuestro hotel.

En otras entradas, os hablaremos del hotel en el que nos alojamos durante nuestra estancia. Os adelanto únicamente que se encuentra en el Barrio 8 de la capital parisina.

Habíamos pensado salir a dar un paseo por los alrededores y quizá acercarnos hasta el Moulin Rouge, pero después de instalarnos y refrescarnos un poco ya era de noche, así que decidimos que sería mejor comprar algo para cenar y volver al hotel. Aunque quisimos verlo en días sucesivos, al final no fue así. Aqui contenido de la columna de la izquierda

Día 2:

The time has finally come to unveil the mystery of where we spent the last few days of our holidays. Our destination this year was another European capital... Paris. You know, the city of lights (electric), l'amour and all that.

As before, we booked our trip (flight + accommodation) through our trusted travel agent's about a month earlier.
In case it helps, we paid €1,203 for the two of us (flights including one piece of luggage each + hotel reservation -room only-).

Day 1:

We left Madrid - Barajas airport onboard an Air France flight, which departed with no delays or problems whatsoever. They get bonus brownie points from us from the fact that they still offer complimentary refreshments on a two-hour long flight. Take note, folks from Iberia. You won't go bankcrupt for buying a few large bottles of water and juice cartons. It's the thought that count, that's the point, folks.

Once in Paris and in possession of our luggage, we headed to the tourist office inside Terminal 2F of Roissy - Charles de Gaulle airport (IATA code CDG). The airport is located further away from the capital than Orly, at some 25 kms away.
We purchased both our 'Paris Museum Pass' for 4 days and the 'Paris Visite' travel card for zones 1-3, granting holders access to the Parisian transport network on either bus, metro or RER train lines. Price per person for the 4-day Museum Pass was €54 and €33.70 for the travel card.
In order to reach our hotel downtown, we also had to buy a travel ticket to Gare du Nord station at the tourist office, which cost us €9.50/each.
From there, we took the tube to 'Rome' station, situated about 200 metres from our chosen hotel.

We'll talk about the hotel we booked for our stay in forthcoming blogposts. Let me just tell you now that it is located in the 8eme Arrondisement of the French capital.

We'd planned on going for a short walk near the hotel and maybe head to the Moulin Rouge, but once we'd checked in, got our stuff ready and took a shower, it was already dark outside and thought it might be wiser to call it a day and just grab a bite to eat in our room. Although we tried to see that over the next days, we never did.

Day 2:

We started our first full day in Paris by visiting the Louvre Museum. On Wednesdays and Fridays it has a late closing time, at 21.45h, so if you intend to see the entire museum or do it leisurely it might be a good thing to arrange your visit for one of those days like we did.
This massive museum is home to not only an extensive collection of paintings with masterpieces like Da Vinci's La Gioconda, but also features legendary statues like the Venus de Milo or the Winged Victory of Samothrace (Niké) -currently unavailable for viewing for restauration purposes -, as well as beautiful collections displaying Islamic art (with Persian carpets, jewellery and tiles), Egyptian, Greek and Etruscan antiquities.

After a 5-hour visit, we did not get to see the Richelieu wing.
The museum has several *cafés and restaurants* to suit any budget, ideal to get your strength back.
Marian and I chose one of them, called Saveur & Style for our lunch.

The closest tube station is 'Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre'. Admittance is included in the Museum Pass (without queues, access is done through the Pyramid) and tickets are valid for the whole day.

Comenzamos nuestro primer día completo con la visita al museo de Louvre. Los miércoles y viernes cierra a las 21.45h, por lo que si tenéis intención de verlo completo o tranquilamente, será una buena idea visitarlo en uno de esos dos días como hicimos nosotras.
Este enorme museo alberga no sólo una importantísima colección pictórica con obras como la Gioconda de Leonardo da Vinci, sino también esculturas legendarias como La Venus de Milo o la Victoria de Samotracia (Niké) - actualmente retirada para ser restaurada- , amén de hermosas colecciones dedicadas al arte islámico (alfombras, orfebrería, azulejos), antigüedades egipcias, griegas, etruscas y romanas. Tras cinco horas de visita, nos faltó de ver el ala Richelieu.
En el museo tenéis varios *cafés y restaurantes* para todos los bolsillos para reponer fuerzas. Marian y yo aprovechamos para comer en uno de ellos, el Saveur & Style.
La parada de metro más cercana es 'Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre'. La entrada está incluída en la Museum Pass (sin cola, entrada por la Pirámide) y vale para todo el día.

Dedicamos el resto de la tarde a hacer un recorrido por el río Sena, a bordo de un *Bateaux Mouches*. La entrada NO está incluida con el Pass, así que tuvimos que pagar 12,50€ cada una.



El recorrido, a bordo de barcos con capacidad para 1000 personas, dura una hora y diez minutos, durante los cuales nos van dando información sobre los distintos monumentos y puentes por los que se pasa mediante una grabación en varios idiomas. Hacia el final del recorrido comenzó a llover y nos bajamos a la parte baja del barco, que está cubierta.
El 1º sale a las 10:15 y el último a las 22:30h de abril a septiembre y de 11 a 21:30h de octubre a marzo.
El embarcadero se encuentra en Port de la Conference - Pont de l'Alma, en la orilla derecha.

Hasta aquí dio de sí nuestro primer día completo en París. En próximas entradas os hablaremos de otros lugares que merece la pena visitar en la capital francesa. Y sí, también os hablaremos de dónde ir de compras. 

We spent the rest of the afternoon on a river cruise along the Seine, on a *Bateaux Mouches* boat. The ticket is NOT included in the Pass, so we had to pay €12.50 each.
The cruises, seating 1,000 people, are 1h10m long and include commentaries in several languages, providing information about the different sights and bridges you see.



It started raining towards the end, so we went down to the lower deck that has a glass roof.
The first boat leaves at 10.15 and the last at 22.30 from April to September, whereas from October to March the first one sets sail at 11 and the last one sails off at 21.30pm.
The quay is located at Port de la Conference - Pont d'Alma, on the right side of the river.

That was all we did on our first full day in Paris. In upcoming posts we'll tell you about other sights in the French capital that are worth a visit. And yes, we're working on shopping-related content for the blog as well. 

Libros / Books: "Los chicos que cayeron en la trampa", de Jussi Adler Olsen

¿Listas para otra reseña bibliográfica? Espero que sí, porque ahora estamos muy ocupadas preparando entradas sobre nuestro último viaje -mantenemos la intriga, jeje-.

En este caso, vengo a presentaros el último libro que he leído en español. Se trata de una novela negra, la segunda dentro de la serie dedicada al "Departamento Q" del escritor danés Jussi Adler Olsen. Curiosamente, quizá recordaréis que sin darme cuenta, leí la *siguiente entrega* antes que ésta.

Resumen:
A finales de los años noventa, la policía encuentra, en una casa de veraneo en el norte de Dinamarca, a dos hermanos adolescentes brutalmente asesinados. Han sido golpeados, torturados y violados sin compasión. La investigación policial apunta a que los culpables pueden hallarse entre un grupo de jóvenes de buena familia, hijos de padres exitosos, ricos, cultos. Sin embargo, el caso se cierra muy pronto por falta de pruebas concluyentes hasta que, pocos años más tarde, uno de los sospechosos se entrega sin razón aparente y confiesa el crimen. Supuestamente, el misterio se ha resuelto. Pero entonces ¿por qué los archivos del caso aparecen veinte años después en el despacho del inspector Carl Mørck, jefe del Departamento Q? Al principio Mørck piensa que el caso está ahí por error, pero pronto se da cuenta de que en la investigación original se cometieron muchas irregularidades…

Are you ready for yet another book review? I hope so, because we're very busy at the moment writing post about our latest trip abroad -we'll keep the suspense for a little while, lol-.

This time I'd like to give you my two cents about my latest read (in Spanish). It's a crime novel and is the second installment in the 'Department Q' series of Danish crime novelist Jussi Adler Olsen. You might remember that I inadvertently read the *third*, prior to this one.


Excerpt:
In the late 90's, the Danish police finds the bodies of two siblings who have been brutally murdered in a summer cottage in the north of the country. They were beaten to death, tortured and raped. The police enquiry leads to a group of well-off teenagers, from a priviledged background and with successful, wealthy and well-educated parents. Yet the case is closed quickly due to the lack of damning evidence... until a few years later one of the suspects surrenders himself to the police for no reason and confesses to the crime. The case is supposedly solved. Then, why do the case files appear in Inspector Carl Mørck's office twenty years later? At first, Mørck believes it turned up there by mistake but quickly realises the original investigation was plagued with countless irregularities...

 The book has apparently been published in English with two different titles: 'Disgrace' and 'The Absent One'.

En esta nueva entrega del Departamento Q, el inspector Mørck investiga un caso supuestamente resuelto, con la ayuda de su misterioso compañero Assad y la nueva secretaria, Rose, asignada a su departamento. 
Por un lado, alguien parece muy interesado en que se reabra el caso, pero al mismo tiempo, gente muy poderosa hará todo lo posible por impedírselo. 

En este segundo libro, resulta bastante difícil "empatizar" con la "heroína" de la historia, especialmente a medida que vamos conociendo mejor su pasado. No es hasta que la historia avanza que vamos entendiendo que la protagonista, Kimmie, ha pagado en vida por sus muchos pecados del pasado.
Si tuviera que compararlo con los otros dos libros de esta serie que he leído, diría que éste es el más flojo, básicamente por Kimmie, la "heroína" de la historia.

A ver si me doy más prisa leyendo, que ésta es la última reseña bibliográfica que tengo para el blog de momento.

In this second installment of the Department Q series, Chief Detective Mørck begins to investigate a case that was seemingly solved and closed already, enlisting the help again of his mysterious assistant Assad and also of a new secretary assigned to Dept. Q. 
On the one hand, there seems to be someone out there very keen on the re-opening of the case, but on the other hand, there's a group of very powerful men who will stop at nothing to keep the case closed.

In this second book, I could barely 'warm up' to the 'heroine' in the story, specially once we get a glimpse of her past actions. It is later in the story that we begin to understand that the main character, Kimmie, has paid a high price for the many sins of her past.
If I were asked to compare it with the other books in this series that I've read so far, I'd say this doesn't hold a candle to the others, especially because of Kimmie, the 'heroine' in this novel.

I hope I can catch up on my reading, because this was actually the last book review I had for the blog.

Mis regalos de cumpleaños - My birthday gifts.

Hola, chicas:

En esta entrada os voy a enseñar mis regalos de cumpleaños..., sólo los de Marox, que ha decidido adelantármelos... porque sabía que ya los tenía todos comprados y me he puesto muy pesada. Además, así os los podía enseñar en esta entrada.
Ya vais a ver que son un montón.
Además, como siempre, ha pensado en todo, y es que capta como nadie las indirectas, jeje (no como yo, que me lo tienen que dar mascado y migado).

1. Cepillo eléctrico Oral B Trizone 500.
Tanto Marox como nuestra madre están encantadas con los suyos, así que pensaron que sería también un buen regalo para mí.
Y la verdad es que ha acertado de pleno, porque estoy encantada. La diferencia con los cepillos manuales es notable. Deja una mayor sensación de limpieza... en menos tiempo.
Lo compró en Amazon.



2. Mascarilla facial de Apivita.
Todavía no la he estrenado, pero tiene buena pinta. El formato es en polvo, que se ha de mezclar con agua. Creo que la dejaré para cuando se me acabe la de Montagne Jeunesse. La compró en la farmacia que hay al lado de mi casa.

3. Mochila para guardar la cámara réflex, que me vendrá estupenda para nuestro próximo viaje a Europa (todavía no os decimos dónde, ya lo sabréis en su momento). La compró en Buyincoins.
Caben perfectamente la cámara montada y otro objetivo. En otro compartimento puedo meter el cargador, la batería adicional, y algún que otro filtro (he metido el polarizador y el ND, aunque seguro que luego no los utilizo, porque me pasa siempre). En un pequeño compartimento lateral puedo meter las tarjetas de memoria.
Dentro de la mochila venían además, un protector para la lluvia (muy útil), y una correa para el cuello para la cámara, que de momento no usaré.
¿En qué se diferencia esta mochila de la que ya tenía? Pues en que esta es mucho más manejable al ser más pequeña, y que la puedo llevar hacia adelante, a la vista. Esto es muy importante cuando se va a sitios donde hay muchas aglomeraciones de turistas. Ya se sabe: donde hay turistas, hay carteristas. No me haría ninguna gracia que por llevar la mochila a la espalda, me la rajaran y se llevaran todo lo que hay dentro. Me daría un pampurrio.



4. Exfoliante labial de TonyMoly.
El packaging es precioso, ¿no os parece?, con esos morritos tan sugerentes, jeje.
Con el exfoliante labial venían estas muestritas.
Se lo compró al vendedor cosmeticmarket2012 y el envío tardó 10 días en llegar.  

5. Set de minitallas de productos antimanchas, de Sulwhasoo.
Como sabe que se me ha terminado la crema de GoodSkin Labs, pues eso, que se ha encargado de reponerme el tocador. ¿No es un encanto?
Con el set de minitallas, vinieron además, estas muestritas, y también una cinta para el pelo hecha a mano.
El nombre del vendedor es forthefairestsophia y suele ofrecer este kit en puja (que marox no ganó, por lo que optó por la opción 'Compra ahora'). Vino muy bien protegido, tardó 13 días y el vendedor lo marcó como regalo y por un tercio de su precio.




 
6. Top coat de Poshé.
Había leído muy buenas reseñas de este producto, y la verdad es que le tenía muchas ganas, aunque todavía me queda Seche Vite.
Por lo visto, el top coat de Poshé tiene menos productos nocivos.
No sé si esperar a que se me acabe el Seche Vite, o probarlo antes. Así, os podría hacer una comparativa. Ya veré qué hago.
El vendedor es nailswestcom,  tardó 11 días en llegar y lo marcó por la mitad de su valor.

In this post I'll be showing you my birthday presents... from Marox, who was kind enough to give them to me in advance after much persuasion, because I knew she had got them all already. That way, I'd be able to share them with you too.
You'll see it's quite a lot of stuff. Besides, she's given them a lot of thought, even keeping her ears open for any hints, lol -unlike me, who needs to be spoonfed with not-so-casual comments.

 1- Trizone 500 Oral B electric toothbrush: Both marox and our mum are over the moon with theirs, so they thought I could do with my own. It was a hit, if you ask me. The difference with manual brushes is overwhelming. Your teeth are much cleaner... in no time. Got it from Amazon.

2- Apivita peel-off mask. Haven't used it yet, but looks cool. It comes in a powder that needs to be mixed with water. I think I'll save this to try it once I've used up the Montagne Jeunesse one. She bought it from the Chemist's next door from my home.



3 - Rucksack for my DSLR camera, which will be great for our next trip to Europe (now we're not telling you where, you'll know it soon). She bought it at Buyincoins.
Both my camera (mounted) and the zoom lens fit perfectly. In another compartment I can put the battery charger, another battery, and some filters (I've put the C-PL [circular polarizer], and the ND [neutral density] ones, although I won't probably use them, because that tends to happen to me quite often). Thre's a small side compartment where I can put my SD cards.
Within the rucksack, a rain cover (very useful, btw), and a neck strap for my camera (which I won't be using for the time being) were also included. 
So, what is the difference between this new rucksack and the one that I already have? Well, this new one is much more handy due to its smaller size, and I can carry it in front, in plain sight. This is very important when you travel to very touristy places. You know the saying: where there are tourists, there are pickpockets.
It wouldn't be funny carrying a rucksack at the back, and getting my things stolen if they cut it open. I would surely have a fit.

4. Lip scrub by TonyMoly.
The packaging is super cute, don't you think so?, with those hot lips, lol.
The seller also included the samples pictured below. Got it from cosmeticmarket2012 and shipping took 10 days.

5. Trial-sized set of anti dark spot products, from Sulwhasoo.
As she knew that I had already used up my dark spot remover cream from GoodSkin Labs, she has restocked my dresser. She's great, isn't she?
Within the package, these samples and a hand-made hair band were included.
Seller's name is forthefairestsophia and usually offers this kit in bids (which marox didn't win) but marox got it as a 'Buy it Now' deal. 
The sample kit was very carefully bubblewrapped. Shipping took 13 days and the seller marked it as a gift and for a third of its value.






6. Poshé top coat.
I'd read very favourable reviews of this product, and I really was willing to get my greedy hands on it, although I haven't used up my bottle of Seche Vite yet.
As far as I know, the ingredients of Poshé's topcoat are less harmful.
I don't know whether I'll wait until I use up my Seche Vite or if I will try it before that in order to test it. That way, I could make a comparison. I don't know, we'll see.
Seller's name is nailswestcom and shipping took 11 days. The declared value was half the total amount.
