UDLS / NOTW: Sinful Colors #202 'Sharon's Heart'

¡Hola, holita!

Hoy vengo a enseñaros un caprichito que me di durante nuestra estancia en París. Sé que la marca Sinful Colors no es excesivamente cara, pero el hecho es que yo éste lo compré en Galeries Lafayette, que no se caracteriza precisamente por vender "gangas". Es como comprar en España algún artículo de droguería en la perfumería de El Corte Inglés en lugar de en un supermercado o cadena de perfumerías, por así decir.
Puesto que ya tengo bastantes esmaltes, me decidí por éste, el tono más especial de los que tenían. 

 Creo recordar que en Beautik estos esmaltes no llegaban a 3€, mientras que yo pagué 5,90€ por éste.
En cuanto al color, lo definiría como un rosa coral con muchos reflejos dorados. Según le dé la luz, predomina más el rosa o el naranja.


 En las fotos, llevo una capa de Nail Envy, seguida de una generosa de este esmalte -que como véis, es muy cubriente - Esperé un par de minutos escasamente, antes de aplicar una capa del esmalte topcoat / de capa superior de Poshé.
Secó muy rápido, de modo que un ratito después me pude vestir sin problema. Creo que el Poshé es una buena alternativa a mi adorado Seche Vite.
La manicura se echó a perder en la mano derecha tras una mañana de limpieza hogareña. Me ha durado 4 días.

Today I'd like to show you a little something I treated myself with while in Paris. I know the brand Sinful Colors is not particularly pricey, but the thing is that I bought this polish at Galeries Lafayette, which are not famous for their budget-friendly prices. In Spain this would be like buying your everyday toiletries from the El Corte Inglés department store counters as opposed to getting them from the supermarket or a popular drugstore chain, so to speak.

Since I already have way too many polishes, I chose this one because it was the most unique shade they had.

I seem to recall this brand retails at less than €3 at Beautik, whereas I paid €5.90 for mine.

As far as the shade goes, I'd describe it as a pinky coral with many golden reflections. Depending on how the light hits it, the colour appears more pink or orange.

 

In the pics, I have a coat of OPI's Nail Envy, followed by a generous one of this polish - which is very pigmented, btw-. I waited a couple of minutes before topping it off with my Poshé topcoat.

Drying time was really quick and I could get dressed a while later without any issues. I think Poshé is good alternative to my beloved Seche Vite.

The right hand polished nails were ruined after spending the morning doing some cleaning. It lasted 4 days. 

De compras por París (cosmética) - Shopping in Paris (cosmetics).

Tal y como teníamos planeado, nuestro último día completo en París estuvo dedicado a las compras, tanto de ropa, que os enseñamos en *esta* entrada, como de cosméticos, que vais a ver a continuación.

En Galeries Lafayette, Marox se compró este esmalte de Sinful Colors, en el tono "Sharon's Heart", en un tono rosa con reflejos dorados, que le encantó nada más verlo, y le costó 5,90€.

No es que sea una ganga, pero no pudo resistirse.

Marian se compró este neceser, que le vendrá muy bien para llevar su maquillaje en los viajes.

Hasta ahora, los que tenía eran o demasiado grandes o demasiado pequeños, así que éste le venía perfecto. Le costó 15,90€.

Ya en el C.C. Forum des Halles, entramos a echar un vistazo en Nocibé, una perfumería de una cadena local, y caímos en la tentación.

Nos trajimos a casita estas paletas de sombras, que nos costaron 14,90€ cada una. No es que sean una ganga, pero al probarlas, nos gustó mucho su textura y pigmentación.

Marian se cogió la paleta de sombras en tonos marrones y verdes, y Marox la de tonos marrones y dorados.

Después de haber pagado, nos hablaron del agua micelar de su marca, así que quisimos probar. Nunca hemos probado las aguas micelares hasta ahora, y la verdad es que ésta nos ha gustado mucho. Marian la ha probado para quitarse los swatches del brazo (cuando hizo las fotos para esta entrada) y arrastra perfectamente el maquillaje (sombra, en este caso), sin tener que frotar. Nos costó 2,90€ y el envase contiene 50ml.

Y sin salir de Forum des Halles, entramos en KIKO, donde por cierto, entablamos conversación con una chica francesa muy agradable sobre potis, haciéndole recomendaciones de los productos que habíamos probado, etc.

Esto fue lo que compramos.

Marox compró estas 3 sombras mono: 110, 125 y 137. Estuvo buscando otra sombra en tono verde lima, pero lamentablemente sólo quedaba la de prueba.

Las sombras costaron sólo 2,90€ cada una, puesto que eran algunas de las que estaban de oferta.

Y Marian encontró esta barra de labios entre un montón que tenían en oferta. Es la número 88, que describiría como un rojo cereza con acabado metalizado. Le costó 1,90€.

Bien, pues esto ha sido todo desde París.

Creo que nos portamos bastante bien.

Like we'd planned, our last full day in Paris was entirely dedicated to go shopping, both for clothing, as we already showed you in *this* post, and cosmetics, which you will see in a moment.

At Galeries Lafayette, Marox bought this Sinful Colors polish in the shade 'Sharon's Heart'. It's  a pink shade with golden reflections, which she loved at first sight, and cost €5.90.

It's not exactly a bargain, but she couldn't help herself.

Marian bought this vanity case, which will be perfect to carry her make-up when travelling.

The ones she already have are either too big or too small, so this one was perfect. It cost €15.90.

Once at the Forum des Halles Shopping Mall, we took a look at Nocibé, a local perfumerie, and we fell into temptation.

We brought home these eyeshadow palettes, which cost €14.90 each. They're not a bargain, but when we tried them, we liked both the texture and pigmentation.

Marian chose the one in browns and greens, and the other one in brown and golden tones was for Marox.

After we paid, the sales assistant told us about their micellar water, so we wanted to give it a try.

We've never tried micellar water until now, and the truth is that we like this one a lot.

Marian has tried it to remove the swatches from her arm (when making the photoshooting for this post), and it removes make-up perfectly (eyeshadow, in this case) without rubbing.

It cost €2.90 and the bottle contains 50ml.

And without leaving the Forum des Halles, we popped into KIKO, where by the way, we met a very nice French girl and talked about make-up, recommending her products we had already tried, etc.

This was what we bought.

Marox purchased these 3 mono eyeshadows: 110, 125 and 137. She was looking for another eyeshadow in a lime green shade, but unfortunately, it was sold out and they only had the tester.

The eyeshadows cost only €2.90 each, since they were among the ones that were on clearance.

And Marian found this lipstick among a selection they had on clearance. It's no. 88, which could be described as a cherry red shade with a metallic finish. It cost €1.90.

Well, these were all the goodies we got in Paris.

De compras por París (ropa) / Shopping in Paris (clothing).

Hola de nuevo, chicas:

En nuestro reciente viaje a París no todo fue ver monumentos y museos. También hubo (¡cómo no!) tiempo para las compras.

En esta entrada os enseñaremos la ropa que nos compramos en París.

La tarde del 4º día que pasamos en París la dedicamos a pasear por los Campos Elíseos. A pesar de ser domingo, todas las tiendas estaban abiertas, así que "había" que entrar, aunque sólo fuera para mirar.

Y en una de ellas, además, compramos.
Fue en la tienda de Morgan de toi, en la que ya tenían la colección de otoño-invierno.
Nos encantó la tienda, lo cierto es que casi todo te entraba por los ojos.

Marian no pudo resistirse a comprarse *este* abrigo. Le encantó desde que lo vio. Tenía que jubilar su viejo abrigo, así que esta compra le vino que ni pintada.
De cintura para abajo tiene un poco de vuelo, lo que es perfecto, porque así no se le queda pegado en las caderas.
Le costó 119€.

Marox tampoco salió de la tienda de vacío, y se compró *esta* falda negra con encaje, que le costó 45€. No le gustan nada las faldas cortas, pero ésta tiene una longitud aceptable. A ver si tiene ocasión de lucirla.

Al día siguiente, último día completo de nuestra estancia en París, también fuimos de compras.
Por cierto, que nos vino genial estar a cubierto porque fuera caían chuzos de punta.

Comenzamos por un clásico, visitamos Galeries Lafayette, en un precioso y lujoso edificio que no se caracteriza precisamente por sus asequibles precios. Aunque no compréis nada, merece la pena entrar. A su favor, hemos de decir que los vendedores te dejan bastante tranquila.

Aun así, compramos estos fulares, de efecto degradado, que nos costaron 24,99€ cada uno. Compramos uno de seda para nuestra madre, pero no hicimos foto.



Después de salir de Galeries Lafayette, fuimos al Centro Comercial Forum des Halles en metro -¡estaba diluviando!.
Aquello es impresionante de grande, y un poco lioso, la verdad. Creo que nos perdimos un par de veces (por lo menos).

Y aquí fue donde Marox dejó la cartera temblando, jeje.
En H&M se compró esta camiseta de manga larga. Lleva unos detalles de encaje en el escote y en las mangas. Le costó sobre 19€.
Por cierto, que apenas sí tenían un par de cosas de maquillaje en ese H&M, cosa que nos dio bastante rabia. 

En Jennyfer (supongo que será una tienda local), se compró *esta* camiseta de tirantes anchos, cuyo estampado de galaxia le encantó. Le costó 12€.



También se compró *estos* vaqueros tan chulos, que estaban rebajados, por 20€. Se los probó y le quedaban como un guante, así que "pa' la saca". Eso sí, son tan ajustados que no puede permitirse engordar ni un gramo, jeje.

In our recent trip to Paris, we did more than just seeing monuments and visiting museums. There also was (indeed) time for some shopping!.

In this post we'll show you the clothing we bought there.

We spent the evening of our fourth day in Paris walking along Les Champs Elysées.
Despite the fact that it was a Sunday, all the stores were open, so we 'had to' go in, even if it was just for looking.

And besides, in one of them we bought some stuff.
The store was Morgan de toi, which already had the new fall/winter collection.
We loved the store, and pretty much everything they had was like eye candy.

Marian couldn't help getting *this* trench coat. It was simply love at first sight. It was time to stop wearing her old coat, so this find was heaven sent.
It has a bit of flare from the waist down, which is great, because it doesn't cling to the hips.
It cost €119.

Marox didn't leave the store empty-handed, as she bought *this* black skirt with lace, which cost €45. She's not very fond of short skirts, but this was an acceptable length for her. Now it will be a question of finding the right occasion to wear it.



The following day, our last full day in Paris, we also went shopping. That turned out to be a great idea by the way, because it was pouring outside.

We started with a classic visit, Galeries Lafayette, located in a magnificient and luxurious building which are not known for their bugdet-friendly prices. Even if you don't buy anything, they're definitely worth a visit. In its favour, we have to say the sales assistants really let you look around without being intrusive.

All in all, we bought these scarves, with a gradient effect, which cost €24.99 each. We also got a silk scarf for our mum, but it's not pictured here.

After leaving Galeries Lafayette, we headed to the Forum des Halles Shopping Mall -we got on the underground to get there because it was raining buckets!.
The place is simply huge and a bit tricky to move around, to be honest. I think we got lost a couple of times (or even more).

And here was where Marox left her wallet begging for a rest, lol.
She bought this long-sleeved shirt at H&M. It has some lace inserts at the front and in the sleeves. It cost about €19.
By the way, there was nearly no makeup for sale at that H&M store -a bummer, for sure.



At Jennyfer (I guess it's a local store), she bought *this* wide-strap T-shirt, drawn by the lovely galaxy pattern. It cost €12.

She also bought *these* supercute jeans, which had a sales price of €20.
She tried them on and they were a perfect fit, so she 'had to' buy them. They're so snug she can't afford to gain any weight, lol.

Guía de Viaje de París / Paris Travel Guide (II)

¡Hola de nuevo!

¿Preparadas para acompañarnos en nuestro recorrido virtual por París? En la *primera* entrega, os hablamos de los dos primeros días de nuestro viaje.

Día 3:

Comenzamos la jornada visitando el Palacio de Versalles. La entrada al palacio está incluída dentro de la Museum Pass, pero sí que tuvimos que pagar el transporte hasta Versalles, puesto que esta localidad se encuentra a algo más de 20 kms de París y la zona quedaba fuera de la tarjeta de transporte Paris Visite que compramos.
Para llegar a Versalles, cogimos el metro hasta la estación Avenue Foch. Allí compramos los billetes, que nos costaron 3,35€ cada uno y salimos de la estación de metro y caminamos unos metros hasta la estación de trenes de cercanías RER del mismo nombre.
Llegados a este punto, nos líamos un poco con los planos de las líneas de tren, sin tener muy claro qué tren teníamos que coger. ¡Menos mal que tuvimos un poco de ayuda! Afortunadamente nos encontramos a un pequeño grupo de jóvenes brasileños que también querían ir a Versalles, así que entre todos logramos averiguar qué tren teníamos que coger.
Después vimos que había un póster con explicaciones en varios idiomas indicando cómo llegar en tren hasta el *Palacio de Versalles*. Por lo visto, no hemos sido las únicas que se han líado con las complicadas indicaciones que había en la estación.
Os ahorraremos los quebraderos de cabeza: En la estación RER 'Avenue Foch', coged cualquier tren que salga del andén 1 y bajaros en la estación 'Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel'. Una vez allí, id hasta el andén A y coged el tren de nombre 'Vick' (el nombre viene escrito en el rótulo electrónico frontal del tren) hasta la estación 'Versailles Château - Rive Gauche'.

El castillo permanece abierto de 9.00 a 18.30h, los jardines de 8 a 20.30 y el Gran Trianón y el Dominio de María Antonieta abre de 12 a 18.30h. Marian y yo sólo vimos el castillo.
Disponéis de audioguías gratuitas durante la visita.

El edificio en sus orígenes era un simple refugio de caza, construído por Luis XIII. El palacio sufrió una importante transformación, convirtiéndose en lo que conocemos en la actualidad durante el reinado de Luis XIV.

Tras la visita, comimos muy cerca de allí una comida baratita y típica: unos crêpes en la Crepería "Le Dolmen", situada en una pequeña plaza cercana a la estación de tren y el palacio. Tenían dos tipos de menú: entrante + crêpe plato principal + crêpe postre o helado; o bien crêpe plato principal + crêpe postre o helado, que fue la opción que elegimos nosotras.
Estaban deliciosos y para nada se nos hizo pesado, a diferencia de otros que hemos probado en España.
Están hechas de trigo sarraceno, así que los celíacos pueden tomarlos con toda tranquilidad.

De vuelta en París, fuimos a ver el que quizá sea el monumento más representativo, no sólo de la ciudad sino de todo el país: la torre Eiffel.
Construída en tiempo récord -dos años, dos meses y cinco días- con motivo de la Exposición Universal de 1889, esta maravilla de la ingeniería y de la arquitectura, bien merece las largas colas necesarias para acceder a ella.
La entrada NO está incluída en el Museum Pass, pudiendo escoger entre comprar la entrada para acceder al segundo piso por 8,20€ o hasta el tercero por 13,40€, que fue lo que hicimos.
Por cierto que Marian, que ya había visitado la ciudad con el Instituto, no me dio opción a abrir la boca en la taquilla y rauda y veloz pidió: 'Deux billets pour le troisième étage, s'il vous plaît".
A favor de nuestros vecinos del norte, de los que solemos quejarnos mucho, hemos de decir que han sido muy amables, ayudándonos a encontrar alguna dirección o lo que fuera.
Suelen agradecer que, aunque sea mal, hagamos un esfuerzo por hablar su idioma. 
Volviendo a lo que nos ocupa, podéis visitar la torre de 9.30 a 23.00. Las estaciones de metro más cercanas son Bir Hakeim y Trocadero, aunque nosotras llegamos hasta allí en el RER C (viniendo de Versalles, nos bajamos en Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel).

Dia 4 = El día interminable

¡Mira que nos cundió este día!
Bueno, comenzamos la jornada visitando el Sacre Coeur. La entrada es gratis para todo el mundo, aunque para ver la cúpula hay que pagar 5€ (la entrada entra en el Pass, aunque no subimos). La pena es que no se pueden hacer fotos ni video en el interior.
La basílica, de inspiración romano-bizantina, con sus dos cúpulas blancas, corona la colina de Montmartre, el punto más elevado de la ciudad. El travertino utilizado para su construcción desprende calcita, por lo que se mantiene blanca a pesar de la contaminación y la erosión.
La parada de metro más cercana es 'Anvers'.
En el barrio de Montmartre hay muchas tiendas de souvenirs, más baratas que las del aeropuerto, así que podéis aprovechar la visita para haceros con algunos recuerditos.

Nuestra siguiente parada fue en Notre Dame, una de las catedrales francesas más antiguas de estilo gótico, aunque conserva reminiscencias del románico normando.



Su construcción comenzó en 1163 y terminó en 1345.
Destaca su magnífico órgano, siendo la plaza de organista titular de Notre Dame uno de los más altos honores a los que puede aspirar un organista.
La catedral resultó muy dañada durante la Revolución francesa y en 1864 se terminó la exhaustiva restauración a la que fue sometida.
El templo destaca también por su gran tamaño, sus vidrieras y sus rosetones. La fachada oeste alberga las gárgolas más aterradoras de la catedral, que sirven para desviar el agua de lluvia del tejado, preservando así la mampostería.
La parada de metro más próxima es Cité.

Tras la visita a Notre Dame, nos dirigimos a la Conciergerie, palacio convertido en prisión  y cámara de tortura. Allí fueron encarcelados 2780 condenados, juzgados por el Tribunal Revolucionario en el contiguo Palais de Justice, entre ellos María Antonieta, antes de ser enviados a la guillotina.
El palacio abre todos los días, de 9.30 a 18.00. La entrada entra en el Museum Pass.
La visita no lleva mucho tiempo.

Tras la breve visita a la Conciergerie, fuimos hasta la Sainte Chapelle, situada muy cerca de allí.
Es un sitio que merece la pena visitar, una pequeña joya desconocida, llena de hermosas vidrieras y muros bellamente decorados.
El templo se compone de dos capillas, una inferior y otra superior y es uno de los máximos exponentes del periodo gótico radiante.
Es el escenario de conciertos de música clásica y fue construida para albergar las reliquias adquiridas por el rey San Luis de Francia, por lo que ha sido considerada como un enorme relicario.

Ya por la tarde, decidimos acercarnos hasta los Campos Elíseos. Desde allí, no podéis dejar de haceros fotos con el Arco del Triunfo al fondo.
Este enorme monumento fue construido en 1836 para conmemorar la victoria de Napoleón en Austerlitz 21 años antes. La rotonda sobre la que se encuentra, Etoile, es la mayor del mundo.
Marian y yo no subimos al Arco del Triunfo, ya que no nos seducía la idea de subir 284 escalones después de un largo día visitando la ciudad.





Y decidimos dar por terminada la jornada visitando la estatua de la Libertad.
Esta réplica está situada en la Île des Cygnes (Isla de los Cisnes), junto al puente Grenelle, y a tan solo 2 kilómetros de la Torre Eiffel, que se divisa perfectamente desde allí. La tablilla que lleva en la mano esta estatua tiene la fecha de la toma de la Bastilla: 14 de Julio de 1789, mientras que la de New York tiene grabada la fecha: JULY IV MDCCLXXV, de la de Independencia de los Estados Unidos. Es un obsequio que hizo Estados Unidos a Francia para celebrar el centenario de la Revolución Francesa, en 1889. Está hecha a escala, y mide una cuarta parte de la original, su altura es de 11 metros y está orientada al oeste, hacia su hermana en Estados Unidos.
Puede que os suene haberla visto en la película "La Búsqueda 2: El Diario Secreto" con Nicholas Cage.
Existe otra réplica más pequeña de esta estatua en París, situada en los Jardines de Luxemburgo.

Día 5: Compras.

Sintiéndolo mucho, tendréis que esperar a otro post para conocer lo que compramos en la capital parisina.

Are you ready to accompany us on this virtual trip to Paris? In the *first* part of this travel series, we told you about the first two days of our journey.

Day 3:

Our day began with a visit to Versailles Palace. Admittance to the Palace is included in the Museum Pass, though we did have to pay to get there, since Versailles is some 20km away from Paris and the area was not within our Paris Visite travel card.
In order to get to Versailles, we got on the tube and stopped at 'Avenue Foch' station. There we bought two train tickets for €3.35 each and walked out of the building into the street, until we reached the RER train station of the same name.
We then came to a point where we were not quite sure which train we had to get on, since the train and map schedules on display there were quite confusing. It was just as well we had some help!
Fortunately, while waiting on the platform we met a small group of young Brazilian tourists who were also headed there. The more brains to do the thinking, the better!
We then noticed there was a large poster with indications in different languages explaining how to get to *Versailles Palace* by train. It seems we were not the only ones at a loss.
We'll spare you the thinking: At 'Avenue Foch' RER train station, take any train leaving from Platform 1 and get off at 'Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel' train station. Once there, go to Platform A and get on the train called 'Vick' (the name is displayed on the electronic screen in front of the train) and get off at 'Versailles Château - Rive Gauche'.

The Château opens from 9.00 to 18.30, the Gardens from 8 to 20.30 and the Grand Trianon and Marie Antoinette's Estate from 12 to 18.30. Marian and I only visited the Château.
Free audioguides are available to visitors.



At first, it was just a humble hunting lodge, built by Louis XIII. But Louis XIV transformed the site into the palace we know today.

After the visit, it was time to have lunch and we chose something that was both affordable and yet typical: crêpes, from a nearby Crêperie, 'Le Dolmen', located near the Train Station and the Château.
They had two different menus: starter + main course (crêpe) + dessert (crêpe or ice-cream scoop) or main course (crêpe) + dessert (crêpe or icecream), which is what we had.
They were delicious and surprisingly enough, not as filling as you might think or as others we've had in Spain that were way too filling.
They're made with buckwheat flour, so no worries for celiacs out there.

Back in Paris, we went on to visit the most representative sight not only in the city but in the country; the Eiffel Tower.
Built in record time -2 years, 2 months and 5 days- for the 1889 Exposition Universelle, this engineering and architectural wonder is well worth the long queues.
Admittance is NOT included in the Museum Pass: access to the 2nd floor is €8.20 and €13.40 to the third level.
Marian, who had already visited Paris with her High School class long ago, gave me no time to open my mouth at the ticket office and asked herself for: 'Deux billets pour le troisième étage, s'il vous plaît'.
On a positive note, I can't help but praise our neighbours -whom we tend to criticise quite often- and thank them for their kindness. They went out of their way to help us with directions and other stuff. They appreciate tourists making an effort to speak their language, however appallingly.
Going back to the sight I was talking about, the tower can be visited from 9.30 until 23.00. The nearest underground stations are Bir Hakeim and Trocadero, though we got there on the RER C (on our way back from Versailles, we just got off at Champ de Mars - Tour Eiffel).

Day 4 a.k.a 'The neverending day'

We really got a lot of things crossed out from our 'to see' list this day!
Our day began with a visit to the Sacre Coeur. Admittance is free for everyone, though access to the dome is €5 (included in the Museum Pass). Unfortunately, photos or videos are not allowed inside.
The basilica is inspired by the Romano - Byzantine styles and its white domes top the summit of Montmartre hill, the highest point in the city.
The travertine stone used in its construction constantly exudes calcite, which ensures that the basilica remains white even with weathering and pollution.
The nearest underground station is 'Anvers'. There are lots of shops selling souvenirs near the basilica and they are more reasonably priced than the ones found at the airport, so you might want to stop there to buy some keepsakes to bring back home.

Our next stop was Notre Dame, one of the oldest Gothic-style cathedrals in France. It is reminiscent of the Norman Romanesque style.
Its construction began in 1163 and ended in 1345.
Its magnificent organ deserves a special mention.
Being the titular organist of Notre Dame is one of the highest honours an organist could ever receive.
The cathedral was greatly damaged during the French Revolution and restoration works came to an end in 1864.
Other highlights of the building are its stained glass and rose windows, as well as its size.
The western façade features the scariest gargoyles in the building, which are designed to divert rainwater from the roof, thus preserving its masonry. 
The nearest underground station is Cité.

After visiting Notre Dame, we headed to the Conciergerie. This royal palace served as a prison and torture chamber during the French Revolution. There, 2,780 convicts were imprisoned between its walls, tried at the Palais de Justice located next door. Among them Marie Antoinette, kept there before being sent to the guillotine.
The palace is open everyday, from 9.30 to 18.00. Admittance is included in the Museum Pass.
The visit does not take long.



After our brief visit to the Conciergerie, we decided to visit the nearby Sainte Chapelle. It is definitely worth the visit and is truly a hidden gem, illuminated by magnificient stained glass windows and surrounded by beautifully decorated walls.
The construction consists of two levels, with an upper and lower chapel and it is a prime example of the phase of Gothic architectural style called 'Rayonnant'.
Classical music concerts are held in the temple, though it was erected to house the collection of relics acquired by King St. Louis IX, and is therefore regarded as a large reliquary.

We decided to go to the Champs Elysées later in the afternoon. Once there, taking pics with the Arc de Triomphe on the background is a must.
This huge construction was erected in 1836, to commemorate Napoleon's victory in Austerlitz 21 years earlier.
The roundabout where it's located, Etoile, is the largest one in the world.
Marian and I decided not to go up the 284 steps to get to the top of the Arc de Triomphe, because we were tired after a long day visiting the city.

 And we decided to call it a day by visiting the Statue of Liberty. This replica is located near the Grenelle Bridge on the Île des Cygnes (Isle of the Swans), only 2 kms away from the Eiffel Tower which can be seen perfectly from there. Its tablet bears the date of the storming of the Bastille on July 14th, 1789; whereas the one in NYC bears JULY IV MDCCLXXV, date of the United States Declaration of Independence on July 4th, 1776. This statue was a gift from the USA to France to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution in 1889. It is a one-fourth scale replica of the original, at 11m tall and is facing west in the direction of its larger sibling in NewYork City.
This statue is one of the historic locations shown in the movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets, starring Nicholas Cage.
There is yet another replica of this statue in Paris, located at the Jardin du Luxembourg.

Este esmalte lo compré en liquidación en una tienda local de productos de peluquería y me llamó la atención especialmente el acabado.

I grabbed this polish from the clearance basket and I was drawn to it by the finish.

This shade looks ideal for both the spring and summer, don't you think?

Este esmalte tiene un tono muy bonito para la primera o el verano, ¿no os parece?

En cuanto a la aplicación, recordad que los esmaltes de tono pastel suelen requerir algo de paciencia para conseguir que quede un color uniforme, sin zonas con poco esmalte. Yo di algunos "puntitos" de esmalte en algunos puntos para lograrlo. Es lo que menos me gusta de los esmaltes de tonos pastel, que no son para ir con prisas.

Applicationwise, remember that polishes with a pastel finish take some patience in order to achieve an even coverage, without patches. I dotted some polish on several spots to prevent this. This is certainly a pet peeve, pastel polishes are not the 'go-to' polish when you're in a hurry.

Compras varias acumuladas / Sundry Haul

Aquí estamos de nuevo para enseñaros las compras que hemos hecho últimamente.

Here we are again to show you the purchases we've made recently.

1 - Crema corporal con aceite de Jojoba de Deliplus (marox): Cogí este producto, una de las últimas novedades de Mercadona en mi última visita a dicho supermercado. Probé el tester en la tienda y me pareció que hidrataría bien, además de que me gustó el olor.
Hidrata bastante bien, más que las Fruit Fusion, por ejemplo. Precio: 1,90€.

2- Esmalte de secado Poshé: Aprovechando que le iba a coger uno a Marian por su cumpleaños, me pedí otro para mí. Lo compré al vendedor de Ebay nailswestcom y me costaron 7,50$ cada uno (el vendedor no hace descuento por envío combinado, pero marcó sólo la mitad del importe en la declaración de aduanas).

3- Esmalte 'Grunge Me Tender' de la EL 'Floral Grunge' de Essence: Lo tenían en Bustillo en liquidación a 1,29€ y decidí darle una oportunidad. Ya lo he usado y os lo enseñaré pronto, pero aquí os dejo un adelanto.

En una visita a Bodybell (desde que venden Essence vamos con más frecuencia que antes), nos hicimos con los siguientes productos.

4 y 5- Brillo de labios de Essence en el tono "Me & my icecream", de la línea "Stay with me" (Marian). Es un tono rosa clarito. Por el que sí nos decidimos las dos fue por el brillo de labios, también de Essence "Deep Rose". Es un tono rosado liláceo, que nos encantó. Costaron 1,29€ cada uno.

6- Lápiz de ojos resistente al agua de Essence, de la línea "Stays no matter what", en el tono "Midnight black" (Marian). Hice una pequeña prueba en la tienda, y me gustó mucho su pigmentación y textura. Costó 1,99€.



7-Sombra de ojos de Essence en el tono "Out of the blue" (Marian). Es un color azul oscuro con destellitos. Costó 1,99€.

8- Esmalte de uñas de Rimmel London, de la línea "Metal Rush" (Marian). Es un esmalte duocromo, que se ve lila o verde claro según cómo le dé la luz. Todavía no lo he estrenado, pero no tardaré en hacerlo, porque es un color que me encanta.
En Mercadona hemos visto hoy unos de Astor igualitos, pero por 1,99€. Este costó 4,99€.

Bien, pues estas han sido nuestras compras hasta el momento. Habéis comprado algo últimamente?

1- Jojoba oil Body Cream from Deliplus (marox): Grabbed this new product on my latest visit to my nearest Mercadona supermarket. I tried the tester on site and thought it was moisturising enough. I also liked the pleasing smell. 
It is quite moisturising, more than their Fruit Fusion body creams, for instance. Price: €1.90.

2- Poshé topcoat: I was going to get one for Marian's birthday, so I also ordered one for myself. Seller's name is nailswestcom and I paid USD 7.50 for each bottle -the seller does not offer any discount for combined shipping, but the items were marked half their value in the Customs Declaration form-.

3- 'Grunge Me Tender' nail polish from the Essence 'Floral Grunge' LE: Our local beauty supplies store had it on the discounted basket at €1.29, so I grabbed it. I've already worn this and will show it to you on a forthcoming post, but here's a sneak peek.

On a recent visit to Bodybell (where we go much more often since they now sell Essence), we bought the items below.

4 and 5- Essence lipgloss in the shade 'Me & my icecream', from the range 'Stay with me' (Marian). It's a light pink shade. Both Marox and I decided to buy the Essence lipgloss 'Deep Rose', in a lilac pink shade, which we loved at once. They cost €1.29 each.

6- Waterproof eyepencil from Essence, from the range 'Stays no matter what', in the shade 'Midnight Black' (Marian). I made a swatch at the store, and I liked both its pigmentation and the texture. It cost €1.99.

7- Essence eyeshadow in the shade 'Out of the blue' (Marian), in a dark blue shade with reflections. It cost €1.99.

8- Nail polish from Rimmel London, from the range 'Metal Rush' (Marian). It's a duochrome polish, with either a lilac or a light green shade, depending on how the light hits on it. I haven't used it yet, but I guess this won't take long, because I love the shade. 
We went shopping to a Mercadona supermarket today and saw a cheaper dupe from Astor, that was only €1.99. This cost €4.99.

Productos Terminados / 'Finito' products

¿Preparadas para conocer los productos que hemos "finiquitado" últimamente?
Pues aquí los tenéis.

Hello, my lovelies!
Are you ready to see the products we've used up lately? Well, here you have them.

1- Máscara de pestañas 'Blackmania' de Essence: Ya llevaba un tiempo queriéndola dar por terminada, pero como todavía seguía saliendo producto... Tengo otra igual para usar y probablemente aproveche la discontinuación para hacerme con alguna otra para tener repuesto, si es que queda alguna.
Antes de tirarla, limpié el cepillito para que le sirviera a mi madre para teñirse las cejas.

2 - Colonia de imitación de Saphir 'Pink' (= Flower by Kenzo): Hace ya bastantes años que gastamos los perfumes de imitación de esta marca, de venta en algunas cadenas de perfumería tipo Avenida y perfumerías locales. Traen 200ml, así que duran un montón y cuestan unos 13€, dependiendo de dónde lo compréis. Ultimamente, les estamos siendo "infieles" con los de "La Botica de los Perfumes", que si bien traen menos cantidad tiene algunas imitaciones (no todas, ojo) más logradas que las de Saphir.

3 - Bálsamo de labios de Biocura (supermercados Aldi): Vienen en paquetes de tres y no llegan a dos euros. Tienen una composición muy natural y son muy hidratantes, aunque si los queréis usar antes de pintaros los labios es mejor no ser muy generosa al aplicarlo o retirar el exceso con un tissu.
Truco: Saqué el producto restante con ayuda de un palito y lo mezclé con un bálsamo de Essence que me resulta algo seco y mejoró un montón. ¡Aquí no se tira nada!

4 - Esmalte base de P2: Doy ya por terminada esta base para las uñas que compramos en Berlín hace ya varios años, en las perfumerías DM (de visita obligada si vais a Alemania). Ya estaba muy espesa y el pincel no llegaba a coger el producto del fondo. Está muy bien para el precio que tiene y no me importaría repetir si tuviera acceso a la marca. (Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren von DM - Bitte öffnen Sie DM-Geschäfte in Spanien!!).

5- Champú Oro líquido de Deliplús. Hemos estado usándolo las dos, pero sobre todo Marian. Nos ha gustado la textura cremosa y el olor que deja en el pelo.
Lo compramos cuando formaba parte de un pack que incluía además, el sérum y la mascarilla. Ahora que se pueden comprar los productos por separado, no descartamos repetir.

6- Exfoliante corporal "Flake Away" de Soap&Glory. También hemos estado usándola las dos, y nos ha encantado. Tiene el gránulo bastante grueso, y realmente notas su acción exfoliante, pero no es nada agresivo. Además, tiene un olor sutil y agradable. No nos importaría repetir, si el acceso a la marca fuera más fácil.
Tenemos entendido que se venden productos de la marca en eBay, así que si éste se encuentra entre ellos, repetir con él no será tan difícil.

7- Limpiador facial "Yes to Blueberries" de Sephora (Marian). No digo que no limpie la piel, pero deja una sensación de grasa en la piel que no me termina de gustar. Bastante grasa tengo de por sí, como para utilizar un producto limpiador que me deje esa misma sensación.
No repetiré con él.



Estos han sido los productos que hemos terminado más recientemente.
¿Habéis usado alguno de ellos? ¿Qué opinión os merecen?

1- Essence 'Blackmania' mascara: I'd been meaning to officially call it finished, but I could already get product... I have another one as back up and I might get a different one that is being discontinued in the future -if there are any left, that is.
Before tossing it away, I thoroughly cleaned the wand to help my mum dye her eyebrows.

 2- Imitation perfume by Saphir ('Pink' = Flower by Kenzo): We've been using these perfumes for many years. They're sold at many drugstore chains such as Avenida or local drugstores. The bottles have 200ml, so they will last you a long time. They cost about €13, depending on where you get them.
We're being 'unfaithful' to them lately, ever since we discovered those from 'La Botica de los Perfumes'.  Even if those are smaller, some (not all of them) of their copies are very true to the original scent and better to the Saphir versions.

3 -  Biocura lipbalm (from ALDI supermarkets): They come in a lot of three and are less than €2. The INCI has mostly natural ingredients and are very moisturising, though if you intend to use them prior to putting on some lipstick, it's best either not to be heavy handed on the application or to blot your lips a bit.
Tip: I scooped the remaining product with a toothpick and mixed it with an Essence lipbalm that is on the dry side and it worked wonders.
Here's to using products up to the very end!!


4 - P2 Basecoat: There's some product still left but it is very thick and I have a hard time getting it from the bottom of the bottle with the brush. We bought this a few years ago during our trip to Berlin at a DM drugstore (a must-see if you ever visit Germany). It's quite good for the low price and I wouldn't mind repurchasing if I had ready access to the brand (Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren von DM - Bitte öffnen Sie DM-Geschäfte in Spanien!!)



5- 'Liquid Gold' shampoo from Deliplus (sold at Mercadona supermarkets). We both have been using it, especially Marian. We like both the creamy texture and the scent it leaves on the hair.
We bought it when it was included in a pack, together with a serum and a hair mask.
Now that we can buy these products separately, we wouldn't mind buying it again.

6- 'Flake Away' body scrub from Soap&Glory.
We both have been using it as well, and we liked it very much. The scrub particles are big enough to notice their exfoliating action, though it is not overly aggresive. Besides, it has a nice, sweet but subtle scent. We wouldn't mind repurchasing if we had better access to the brand.
You can find many products from this brand on eBay, so if this one is among them, getting it again won't be that hard.



7- Facial cleansing cream 'Yes to blueberries', sold at Sephora (Marian).
Well, I'm not saying that it doesn't clean well, but it leaves a greasy feeling on the skin, which I don't like. My skin is oily enough on its own for me to use a product that leaves yet the same feeling. I won't be repeating with it.
