¿Qué tal estáis pasando las fiestas? Espero que bien.

Bueno, os traigo mi manicura de la semana, esta vez con el esmalte "Midnight Passion" de H&M y un esmalte con glitter de Claire's, cuyo nombre es imposible saber, así que he decidido bautizarlo como "Iris", haciendo honor a la persona que nos lo regaló.

Well, today I'm showing you my mani for this week; this time with the 'Midnight Passion' polish from H&M and a polish with glitter from Claire's, whose name is impossible to know, so I decided to name it 'Iris', in honor of the person who gave it to us.

Primer día: Pues bien, para esta manicura, apliqué primero una capa de Nail Envy de OPI (la versión mini que nos regaló María), luego una capa gruesa (no demasiado) del esmalte de H&M. Esperé a que se secara para aplicar una capa del esmalte "Iris" de Claire's, y después una capa de Seche Vite.

First day: OK, for this mani I applied a coat of Nail Envy from OPI (the mini version María gave us), then a thick coat (not too much thick) of the H&M polish. I waited until it got dried before applying a coat of the 'Iris' polish from Claire's, and a coat of Seche Vite on top.

Tercer día: Tengo un pequeño desconchón en el dedo medio de la mano derecha. El resto, en perfecto estado.

Third day: I've got a small chipping in the right hand middle finger. The rest of the nails, in perfect conditions.

Cuarto día: Otro pequeño desconchón, ahora en el dedo índice de la mano derecha.

Fourth day: Another small chipping, this time in the right hand index finger.

Quinto día: El desconchón se ha hecho enorme, así que me quito el esmalte.

Fifth day: The chipping has become so huge that I decide to remove the polish.

Aprovecho esta entrada, en la que os enseño mi última manicura de 2011, para desearos un Feliz Año, mejor que este año que hoy termina (¡qué difícil!).

UDLS / NOTW: Catrice '620 Captain Sparrow's Boat'

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros otro de los esmaltes que compré en Ámsterdam, en una de las visitas que hicimos a las droguerías Kruidvat de las que *ya os hablé* en su día.

Today I'd like to show you one of the polishes I bought in Amsterdam, from one of our visits to the local drugstore Kruidvat I told you about in a *post* at the time.

Dia 1: Por la mañana, aplico una capa de la base para prevenir el capeado de Essence que nos mandó María de Todos los esmaltes son pocos en el *intercambio* que hicimos. Más tarde, aplico una capa bastante generosa de este esmalte, no sin algunos problemas -rocé un par de uñas y tuve que retocar, el pincel pilló una pelusa. Remato con SV, también del intercambio.

Se dice que este esmalte de Catrice es el clon del famoso 'Black Pearl' de Chanel.

Day 1: In the morning, I applied a coat of the Essence basecoat that María from Todos los esmaltes son pocos kindly sent us as part of our *swap*. Later, I applied a generous coat of this polish with some problems – I grazed a couple of nails and had to do a touch-up and then the brush caught some fiber, lol. I topped it all with some SV, also from our swap with TLESP.

This lacquer is said to be a dupe of the famous 'Black Pearl' from Chanel.

Día 2: Tengo desconchones en el pulgar e índice derecho, por lo que de duración este esmalte, más bien regular. No he hecho nada especial, así que tendría que haber aguantado algo mejor.

Day 2: My right thumb and index fingers show some chipping, so this polish did not fare very well wearwise. I haven't done anything special, so it should have done a bit better.

Día 3: Aunque intenté retocar algunas uñas, los desconchones han ido a más, así que me las quito.

Day 3: Despite an attempt at touching up some nails, chipping has got worse so I took this off.

Hazlo tú : Tunea tus placas de estampación / DIY: Pimp your stamping plates

Desde que compré mis primeras placas y leí opiniones acerca de las originales de Konad, una de las quejas tenía que ver con el hecho de que las placas de "Fauxnad" / Essence / Bundle Monster v.1.0 no tenían una protección trasera, que sí tienen las de Konad.
Me pareció un pero bastante insignificante, sobre todo porque ya entonces se me ocurrió esta idea que no he llevado a la práctica hasta hoy.
La "solución" me parecía tan obvia que me extrañaba que no se le hubiera ocurrido a nadie y casi hasta me da vergüenza subirla. Que conste que lo de la protección trasera de las placas a mí no era algo que me molestara, pero puede que a otra gente sí.

Ever since I got my first image plates and read reviews of the original Konad plates, one of the main complaints people had about Fauxnad / Essence / Bundle Monster v.1.0 plates were to do with the fact that the latter lacked the paper backing Konad has. It seemed a petty complaint to me, as I was already toying with an idea in my mind but that I did not realize until today. The "solution" was so easy that I couldn't believe no one had come up with this idea yet and actually it's so simple I feel almost embarrased to upload it. Truth be told, not that the lack of a paper backing was a big problem for me at all. But I guess it could be for some people.

En cualquier librería/papelería e incluso en algunos supermercados y tiendas de manualidades, podemos encontrar rollos o trozos al corte de papel vinílico adhesivo, tipo 'Aironfix'. Este papel está disponible en muchos colores, lisos y con dibujos y varios acabados. La papelería donde lo compré yo no tenía mucho surtido, y total, para lo que era me daba más o menos igual.

Any bookstore/stationery/craft store and even some supermarkets here carry either rolls or pieces of cut-to-size adhesive vinyl paper, aka 'Aironfix' et alii. This paper is available in a large range of colours, both plain and patterned and with several finishes. The store I got my piece from did not have a lot of stuff to choose from but considering what I was going to use it for, it didn't matter much to me.

En la tienda había varios rollos preparados y algunos trozos sueltos. Entre ellos, éste en color azul oscuro mate, que me pareció ideal para el pequeño proyecto que tenía en mente. El trozo medía 70cm. y me cobraron poco más de 1,50€.

The store had several ready-made rolls and some spare pieces. Among those, this dark blue with a matte finish that seemed perfect for the little project I had in mind. The piece I got was 70cm. long and I paid a little more than 1.50 EUR for it.

Esta solución de "tuning" de las placas de estampación es de lo más simple. Se trata de cortar un trozo de papel adhesivo del mismo tamaño y forma que la placa a la que queremos poner la cubierta trasera. Lo pegamos con cuidado. Si no lo colocáis bien a la primera, no os preocupéis, porque se puede despegar fácilmente.

This 'tuning' solution for your Fauxnad stamping plates is more than simple. You just have to cut a piece of adhesive paper the same size and shape than the plate whose back you want to cover.
Stick carefully to the plate. If you don't place it properly on your first try, don't worry, because it can be unstuck easily.

¿Qué os parece? Fácil, ¿verdad? Pues hala, manos a la obra, que seguro que tenéis muchas placas "desnuditas".

Espero que estéis pasando bien las fiestas, en familia y descansando aunque cometiendo algún pequeño exceso navideño.
El día 23 aprovechando que íbamos al centro comercial a comprar, hicimos una visitilla rápida al Douglas a ver si tenían algo interesante y resultó que sí.

I hope you're having a great holiday, with your family and charging up your batteries. And indulging in too many Christmas delicacies, most likely.
On the 23rd, we paid a quick visit to the local Douglas drugstore/perfumerie, which happens to be inside the mall where we went to for some groceries. Not really knowing if there'd be anything interesting, it turned out they did have some interesting stuff.

Hace poco descubrí un nuevo blog alemán, Candy Glaze, donde mencionaban que las droguerías Douglas habían sacado su propia línea de esmaltes de uñas: Absolute Nails. En otras visitas a Douglas ya había visto que tenían unos miniesmaltes (similares a los de Deliplus de 1€ que os enseñé en su día), así como algún brillo de labios. No tenía demasiadas esperanzas de que los esmaltes de los que hablaban en aquel blog hubieran llegado a España y pensaba que de ser así, tardarían aún unos cuantos meses. Pero como podéis ver en las siguientes fotos, ¡estaba equivocada!.




I recently discovered a German blog, Candy Glaze, and in one of their latest posts they mentioned Douglas drugstores/perfumeries had just released their own line of nail polishes, Absolute Nails. In previous visits to our local Douglas, I noticed they did have some mini polishes (similar to the ones released last summer by Deliplus for just 1 EUR), as well as a few lipglosses. My expectations were not too high when we walked into the store, as I wasn't very hopeful these goodies had made it into Spain yet and thought that would take at least a couple of months. But as you can tell from the following undercover pics, I was wrong!!



La colección de esmaltes (hay testers) de la primera foto, incluye clones de varios esmaltes de Chanel, entre ellos el famoso Paradoxal, Black Pearl, Pearl Drop y Péridot *ver lista*. Traen 11 ml y cuestan 4,95 € cada uno. Como ya habréis deducido por la entrada de este post, no me pude ir con las manos vacías.
Douglas le había mandado a Marian un par de días antes un descuento vía SMS que se olvidó de presentar. ¿Será porque pagaba yo? ;)




The nail polish collection -there are testers- in the first pic includes dupes for several Chanel polishes, among them the famous Paradoxal, Black Pearl, Pearl Drop and Péridot *see list*. They contain 11 ml and cost 4.95 EUR each. As you've probably gathered from the title, I couldn't just leave the store empty-handed.
Marian had received an SMS from Douglas a couple of days earlier with a promotional discount she forgot to show. Was it because I was paying? ;)

Y esto fue lo que me autorregalé, con más detalle. En primer lugar, el esmalte 'Fireworks 15', clon del famosísimo 'Péridot' de Chanel. Puesto que no tengo el de Chanel no os podré ofrecer una comparativa en toda regla ni sé qué porcentaje de parecido tiene con el original, pero sí os puedo decir que mi anhelo por el Péridot se ve perfectamente satisfecho con esta compra.

And this is what I bought myself, in detail. First meet 'Fireworks 15 ' dupe of the überfamous Péridot from Chanel. As I don't have the Chanel one, I'm afraid I won't be able to offer you a proper comparison between the two and ignore how good a dupe (i.e. % of likeness they have) this is, but I am in a position to tell you that my lemming for Péridot is perfectly fulfilled with this purchase.



Por último, el esmalte 'Sara 07', clon del 'Pearl Drop' también de Chanel. Aún no los he estrenado, pero prometo presentároslos debidamente en cuanto me sea posible.

And finally, meet 'Sara 07', dupe for 'Pearl Drop' also from Chanel. I haven't worn any of them yet, but I promise to make the perfunctory introductions as soon as I can.

Al igual que en el pedido anterior, hay cosas de todo tipo, de belleza y otras cosas. Aunque esto último quizá no os resulte tan interesante, nos apetece enseñároslo también. ¡Quién sabe! Quizá os interese alguna cosa y no sepáis qué tal es.

As with our first order, there's a little bit of everything, both beauty-related and not. Even though perhaps the latter may not be as interesting, we want to show it all the same. Who knows, perhaps you're interested in some of these items and were wondering if they were any good.

1- Paleta vacía con godets para 15 sombras de 36mm: Es el diámetro de las sombras de Essence, Kiko, Basic, etc. pero nosotras las hemos comprado con idea de prensar unos pigmentos (si es que podemos).
No está imantada (lo pone en la descripción del artículo) y los pans son muy blanditos, así que tendremos que tener cuidado. Aunque no está imantada, los panes no se han movido del sitio al darle la vuelta.

1- Empty eyeshadow palette with pans, holding 15 e/s 36 mm wide: These may hold Essence, Kiko, Basic eyeshadows and other brands, but we bought this to try and press some pigments (if we can press them and that remains to be seen). It has no magnetic qualities -as stated in the item's description. The pans are a bit soft and flimsy-looking, so we'll have to be careful. Despite the lack of magnets, the pans remained firmly in place, even when we put it upside down.

2- Paleta vacía con godets para 15 sombras de 26mm: Es el diámetro de las sombras de MAC y de otras marcas como Elf. Nosotras las hemos comprado con idea de montarnos una paleta de labiales. A diferencia de la anterior, en ésta los pans se salen con bastante facilidad y no quedan bien ajustados. Tampoco es magnética.

2- Empty eyeshadow palette with pans, for 15 e/s 26 in size. The same diameter as MAC eyeshadows and other brands like Elf. We got ours to make our own lipstick palette. Unlike the other one, the pans move far too easily in the palette and the fit isn't as snug as with the big one. It's not magnetic either.




3- Placa de estampación imitación Konad m78: Aún no la he estrenado. Había otros tres modelos, creo, pero ésta era con diferencia la más bonita. ;) Las únicas diferencias a simple vista con las placas originales es que la M viene en mayúscula y que carecen de la protección trasera de las de Konad. Estad atentas a próximos post al respecto. *Edito: Podéis verlo *aquí*.




3- Fake Konad m78 image plate: I haven't tested it yet. They had like three other models but this was hands down the prettiest. ;) The only differences at sight with original plates are that this one has the M in capitals and the lack of paper backing. Watch out for forthcoming posts on that. *Edit: You can see it *here*

Y ahora las cosas no relacionadas con el maquillaje.
Onto non make-up related stuff.

4- Adaptador USB de corriente: Lo compré arriesgándome un poco con idea de poder cargar el Sony Reader si estoy de vacaciones o no tengo el ordenador encendido. Y... funciona estupendamente y por si fuera poco, también me sirve para cargar mi nuevo mp3, que os enseñé hace poco. Todo, al módico precio de 1,31 $.




4- USB AC adapter: I bought this on a whim, not knowing if I would be able to charge up my Sony Reader with it while on holiday or when my computer's not on. And it works great and, even better, it does the trick too with my new mp3 player I showed you recently. All that, for a mere 1.31 USD.

5- Relojes de pulsera de silicona: Sé que los venden en más tiendas, pero alguna vez que los hemos querido comprar, estaban agotados, así que aprovechamos para pedirnos uno para cada una. No se puede elegir color. Evidentemente, son muy básicos, pero por el momento van muy bien. Ideales para llevarlos a la piscina y no preocuparte por si se te pierde, se te rompe, o te lo roban.

5- Silicone wristwatches: I know these can be found in many stores, but everytime we went looking for them, they were sold out, so we grabbed a pair. Colours are sent at random. These are obviously very basic watches, but so far so good. Great to take with you to the pool without worrying about loosing it, or it getting broken or stolen.

6- Cartera de aluminio para tarjetas: Seguro que las habéis visto anunciadas en la teletienda como a unos 30€. Pues éstas son igualitas y muchísimo más baratas. En teoría, evitan que nuestras tarjetas puedan ser clonadas. Es para regalar. Al igual que con el artículo anterior, no se puede elegir color.

6- Credit card aluminium wallet: I'm sure you've seen these at the home-shopping channel for about €30 each. Well, this is just like it and a lot cheaper. In theory, these wallets prevent your credit cards from being scanned and cloned. It's for a gift. As with the previous item, colours are sent at random.

7- Peine cortador para mascotas: Pues sí, también nos hemos acordado de Molly y le hemos cogido un "regalito". Bueno, en su caso se trata más bien de un artículo de primera necesidad.
Tenemos varios peines para cepillarla y éste será uno más, complementario a los demás, para según qué nudos. Al llevar cuchilla, hay que manejarlo con cuidado. Para obtener mejores resultados, hay que desenredar primero lo mejor posible el pelo de la mascota para no hacerle daño.

7- Pet hair trimmer comb: Well, yeah, we did think of Molly with this order and got her a little something. Actually, this falls under the essential items category for her. We have several combs and this is going to be a good companion to them, depending on the kind of tangle and so on. As with any cutting tool, handle with care. For best results, the hair should be already de-tangled as best as you can to prevent pulling your pet's hair.

8- Reloj de enfermera: Aquí viene el único pero del pedido. Aunque la tienda mandó el paquete con tres capas de plástico de burbujas que cubren el conjunto del pedido, al ir los artículos más pequeños sueltos, la esfera vino rota. Por lo demás, funciona bien de momento. Estos relojes suelen costar bastante caros -si os fijáis, la posición de los números está invertida para poder leer los números mientras cuelga del uniforme- y suelen ser muy "golosos" para las amantes de lo ajeno. Si tenéis alguna amiga, etc que trabaje en un hospital, puede ser un detalle original y por muy poco dinero. Hay otros modelos, pero no se puede elegir color.




8- Nurse watch: Here comes the only 'con' to this order. Although the store sent the package protected with three layers of bubble wrap to cover the entire order, the small items are loose inside and sadly the face was cracked. Apart from that, it works flawlessly so far. These watches are usually a bit pricey -if you look closely, you'll notice the numbers are inverted so they can be seen when worn as a brooch, hanging from your uniform- and are usually very eyecatching esp. for the light-fingered. If you have a friend, etc who works at a hospital, this can be a very original yet inexpensive gift. There are other models available, but again no colour choice.

Como digo, el último artículo vino roto, pero no he reclamado. El reloj es muy barato y si me tocara mandarlo, me gastaría más dinero en enviarlo.

As I mentioned above, the last item was cracked during shipment, but I have not reported it. The watch is so cheap that if I were told to send it back, I'd spend more on that.

Definitely we can't get out of home. If we go out, we buy; and what do we buy? Make-up. Even on Sunday.

Seguramente estaréis pensando que los domingos las tiendas están cerradas (bueno, las de los chinos yo creo que no, pero ese es otro tema); pero para eso está el mercadillo: para salir de compras también en domingo.

You'll surely think that stores are closed on Sunday (I think it's not the same with Chinese euro stores, but that's another issue); but that's why street markets do exist: to go shopping also on Sunday.

Así que sin más dilación, voy a enseñaros lo que compramos.

So without further ado, this is what we bought.

Como veis, esta entrada bien podría ser un "haul" de L'Oreal HIP, porque todo lo que compramos es de esa marca.
Buscando y revolviendo entre las cestitas donde la vendedora tenía los productos, se me fueron los ojos a estos que veis.
Lo primero que ví fueron los dúos de sombras. Si no recuerdo mal, sólo tenían estos dos, así que no se iban a quedar en la cesta. Son el 318 "Flashy" y el 208 "Sassy". Vienen perfectamente precintados, pero supongo que los abriré para haceros los "chuaches". Además, tengo ganas de probar en persona cómo pigmentan. Todavía no hemos decidido cuál elegiremos cada una.

As you can see, this post could be a L'Oreal HIP haul, because all the things we purchased are from that brand.
Rummaging through all the beauty products the seller had in the baskets, then I had my eye on these you can see.
The first thing I saw were these eyeshadow duos. If I'm not wrong, these were the only ones in the basket, so they couldn't stay there anymore. They are 318 'Flashy' and 208 'Sassy'. Both are perfectly sealed, but I guess I'll open them to do the swatches. Besides, I'm very eager to try them on to check the pigmentation. We haven't decided yet which one we will choose.

Además, compramos estos labiales líquidos. De izquierda a derecha, 760 "Tainted", 780 "Indestructible", 660 "Euphoric", y de nuevo 760 "Tainted" (porque nos quedaremos uno cada una). De los otros dos, yo me quedaré con el "Indestructible" y marox con el "Euphoric".
No los hemos abierto todavía, pero prometemos "chuaches" (quizá los haga de todo antes de subir esta entrada).

Besides, we bought these liquid lipsticks. From left to right, 760 'Tainted', 780 'Indestructible', 660 'Euphoric', and 760 'Tainted' again (one for each one of us). From the other two, I'll choose 'Indestructible' and 'Euphoric' will be for marox. We haven't opened them yet, but we promise to do the swatches (maybe I'll do them all before uploading this post).

LDED / LOTD: Morado con Essence - Purple with Essence

¿Cómo lleváis la Navidad? Espero que bien.

Hoy regreso con otro de mis look rápidos, en esta ocasión en tonos morados, utilizando dos sombras mono de Essence ya retiradas, en el tono #16 'Go Glam' y la #19 'Disco Diva'.
La sombra más rosada, la apliqué en el párpado móvil y la morada en la cuenca. Para iluminar, la sombra color crema del trío 'Babushka's Dream' de la EL 'Secrets of the Past' que ya tenemos en las últimas.




How are those Christmas holidays going? I hope you're doing good.

I'm back with another quick look, this time in purple shades, using two now discontinued mono e/s from Essence in the shades #16 'Go Glam' and #19 'Disco Diva'. I applied the pink shade on my lid and the purple one in the crease. I highlighted my browbone using again the cream-coloured shadow in the 'Babushka's Dream' trio from the 'Secrets of the Past' LE and where we hit pan on long ago.

Para delinear, utilicé si mal no recuerdo el gel liner morado de Essence, de la colección fija. Para las pestañas, la máscara Blackmania.
En los labios, tomé prestado a Marian uno de sus nuevos pintalabios de Nyx, el Lala. Por cierto, que en mí se ve mucho más oscuro que en ella, tanto que no parece el mismo. Os dejo una foto para que podáis comprobarlo por vosotras mismas.





I think I lined my eyes using the purple gel liner from Essence, the one in the core collection. Blackmania mascara on my lashes. For my lips, I borrowed one of Marian's latest Nyx lipsticks, Lala. Btw, it looks a lot darker in me than in her, so much that it doesn't even look the same. Here's some photographic evidence to back up my claims.

Un breve mensaje para desearos una muy Feliz Navidad. ¿Y quién mejor para ello que nuestra querida Molly? La pobre ya está acostumbrada a que la usemos de modelo y aunque a veces proteste un poco, os podemos asegurar que en el fondo le encanta ser la estrella.




Just a short message to wish you a very Merry Christmas. And who better to do that than our dear Molly? Poor thing's used to being our model and although she may sometimes complain, we have no doubt she just loves being a star deep down.

¡Hola!

Como ya sabéis, hace poco le regalé a Marox un lector de libros electrónicos, en concreto el Sony PRS-T1. Mes y medio después, la tienda donde lo compré sigue sin haber recibido las fundas oficiales con luz (que por cierto, la tengo pagada), y claro, algo teníamos que hacer con estas manitas para solucionarlo.

As you already know, I gave Marox an E-book reader for Christmas, in particular, the new Sony PRS-T1. A month and a half later, the store where I got it from has still not received the official lit case that I ordered (and had to pay in advance). Obviously, we had to do something about it.

Tras ver varios tutoriales en Internet con ideas diversas, desde vaciar un libro a la típica funda calcetín, pasando por estuches de lapiceros, nos pusimos manos a la obra y éste es el resultado.




After watching several tutorials on the Internet with different ideas, ranging from emptying a book to the typical stocking-case, going through pencil cases, we decided to put shoulders to the wheel and this is the final result.

Coste del proyecto: 3 € (tuvimos que comprar pegamento).
El resto de materiales, los teníamos en casa o bien no nos costaron nada.

Costs of the project: €3 (we had to buy some glue).
The rest of the materials, either we already had them at home or we got them for free.

Comenzamos sacando el cartón a un archivador que en mi trabajo iban a tirar. Después, hicimos una plantilla con el lector, añadiendo un centímetro aproximadamente por cada lado. Hicimos un lomo del mismo cartón, que fijamos con esparadrapo flexible por los dos lados (y es que en casa de una enfermera siempre hay esparadrapo).




We started by taking the cardboard out of a folder at my work place that was going to the rubbish. After that, we made a template with the e-book reader, adding 1cm approximately on each side. We made a spine from the same cardboard, and fixed it with flexible surgical tape on both sides (there's always surgical tape at a nurse's).

Después, y para que la tapa no resultara tan dura, la forramos con un trozo de foamy (también llamada goma eva) del mismo tamaño. Forramos tanto la tapa delantera como la trasera.




After that, in order to get a softer lid, we covered it with a piece of foamy the same size. We covered both the front and the back lids.

A continuación, cortamos dos trozos de tela (en nuestro caso, elegí la de un pijama viejo, que estaba ya desgastado) de una medida un poquito mayor que las tapas (para tener espacio para hacer las costuras). Haremos como una especie de bolsita en cuyo interior meteremos la cubierta de lo que será la funda del e-book; por lo tanto, dejaremos un lado sin coser, para poder meterla.



Then we cut two pieces of fabric (in this case, from an old and worn out pyjamas) a little bit bigger than the lids (to have enough space for the seams). We're making some sort of bag where we'll put the cover of the e-book reader case; that's why, at this point, we're leaving one side unsewed.

Una vez metida la cubierta dentro de la funda de tela, cosemos el lado que dejamos libre. Para hacer esta tarea más fácil, cortaremos un trozo de cinta adhesiva de doble cara y la pegaremos al cartón donde pegaremos la tela (uno de los lados). El otro lado lo doblamos a la misma medida y lo cosemos a mano.



Once this step is done, we have to sew the side we left open before. In order to make this step easier, we're cutting a piece of double-sided tape and we'll stick it to the cardboard where we're sticking the fabric (one of the sides). The other one will be bent the same size and sewed by hand.

Ahora cortamos dos trozos de foamy de la misma medida del e-book. Uno de ellos protegerá la pantalla cuando cerremos la funda, y sobre el otro, se colocará el e-book, sujeto por dos gomas, que coseremos con cuidado directamente al foamy. Antes de coser las gomas, tendremos la precaución de presentar el e-book sobre el foamy, teniendo cuidado de que las gomas no presionen u oculten algún botón importante (o la pantalla).




Now we cut two pieces of foamy the same size as the e-book reader. One of the pieces will protect the screen when we close the case, and the e-book will be placed over the other one, held by two pieces of rubber bands, which will be sewn carefully just over the foamy. Before sewing the rubber bands, we'll place the e-book reader on the piece of foamy, making sure the rubber bands don't press or hide any important button (or the screen).

Una vez hecho esto, ya sólo tenemos que pegar los trozos de foamy a la parte interior de cada una de las tapas, y comprobar que ha quedado bien pegado. Colocamos el e-book en su lugar bien sujeto, y ya podemos pasarnos las horas muertas leyendo, pues ya no tendremos que sacar el lector de su funda ni siquiera para cargarlo.



Once this step is done, we just have to stick the pieces of foamy to the inner part of each lid, and check it's really stuck. We put the e-book reader on its place, well fixed, and now it's time to while away our time reading, as we won't have to take the reader out of its case anymore, even for charging it.

**** Edito (marox): He observado que esta entrada en el blog está teniendo bastante éxito y me parece lógico hacer una actualización. Una vez recibida la funda oficial con luz de SONY, realmente ya no he vuelto a utilizar la que os enseño, que dicho sea de paso, cumplía muy bien su función. La funda de Sony tiene un gran fallo, y es que no se cierra del todo y simplemente proporciona una cubierta o tapas a nuestro libro. Evidentemente, nos pusimos manos a la obra para solucionarlo y esta vez fue mi señora madre la encargada de prepararme una solución. Os dejo unas fotos para que veáis esta segunda funda o 'cubrefunda'.

**** Edit (marox): I've noticed this particular blogpost is getting very popular and I therefore thought it was only fair to update it accordingly. Once I got the official lit case from SONY, I haven't really used the one in the above tutorial any more, though it did the job it was designed to quite well.
The official case has one big drawback and is the lack of a clasp of some sort. It only gives the Reader the appearance of a real book providing covers/flaps to it. We set to work it out and this time my dear mum came to the rescue. Here are a few pics for you to see this new case or case cover.



Me hizo una funda muy ajustadita en la que metemos la solapa izquierda de la funda oficial, la parte trasera quedaría suelta en cierto modo, pero la cerramos con una última solapa más pequeña que lleva un trozo de velcro cosido. No sé si me explico bien. Si tenéis alguna duda, no dudéis en preguntar.

She made me a cover that has a snug fit on the Reader. We slide the left flap of the official case into this, then the back part would be sort of loose but then fastening is provided by means of a smaller and final flap that has a piece of velcro sewed on. Don't know if I'm making myself understood. Feel free to ask anything if I'm not.

No me cobraron nada por la tela (la tienda es de una amiga y necesitaba un trozo pequeño) y el velcro lo tenía mi madre por casa.
I got the fabric for free at the store (the store belongs to a family friend and we only needed a small piece) and my mum had some leftover velcro at home.

MiniColorama - #52 Dark Plum

Hoy me gustaría enseñaros un esmalte que compré este verano en Tallin y que estaba pendiente de estreno hasta que lo lucí por primera -que no última- vez hace ya algunas semanas. Se trata de un esmalte de Maybelline, de la colección MiniColorama.

Today I'd like to show you a polish I bought this summer in Tallinn but was sitting in my untrieds until I used it for the first but not last time a few weeks ago. It's a Maybelline, from their MiniColorama range.

Las fotos corresponden a la segunda vez que lo usé. Apliqué una capa del Nail Envy y una vez seca, una capa de este esmalte. La fórmula tiene la consistencia ideal, ni muy líquida ni muy espesa y el pincel también se maneja bien. Tendría que haber aplicado Seche Vite, ya que pasadas unas horas tengo marquitas, como podéis ver en las fotos.

The pics were taken the second time I used this. I applied a coat of Nail Envy and once dry, one coat of this polish. The formula is great, neither two watery nor too thick and the brush is easy to work with as well. I should have topped my mani with some Seche Vite, as I have some tiny marks on my nails a few hours later-see pics.

Esta manicura me aguantó cuatro días, no en perfecto estado, pero si bastante bien.
I wore this mani for four days, not perfect but reasonably well-looking.

Mi nuevo mp3 - My new mp3 player

El mes pasado, os contaba *aquí* que mi fiel Ipod, había pasado a mejor vida. No sin cierta pena, me puse manos a la obra para buscarle un digno sucesor, así que aunque era domingo, me fui de compras por Ebay, que abre 24/7/365. Tras mucho mirar y comparar, además de pensar en las características que quería que tuviera, me decidí por *éste*.




Last month, I told you *here* that my trusty Ipod had passed away. With some sorrow, I set out to find a befitting replacement and even though it was Sunday, I went shopping on Ebay which opens 24/7/365. After much looking and comparing, as well as giving some thought to the features I wanted my new player to have, *this* was the one I chose.

Como podéis ver, he escogido uno muy similar a mi difunto Ipod Shuffle. El nuevo reproductor es una copia clara del mismo, tal y como podéis ver en estas fotos comparativas.
Aunque de momento no lo he usado mucho, os indico brevemente los pros y los contras que le he visto.



As you can tell from the comparison pics, I chose a player very similar to my late Ipod Shuffle. The new device is certainly a copy of it. Although I haven't used it very much, I'll tell you very briefly the pros and cons that I've found.

PROS:

- Muy pequeño y ligero. Es ideal para llevarlo con nosotros en todo momento.
- A diferencia de otros modelos baratos similares, incluye memoria interna. En concreto, 4 GB.
- Disponible en varios colores (se puede escoger, por defecto es rojo).
- Clavija de auriculares (incluidos) de 3.5mm. Para esta medida, se encuentran auriculares muy fácilmente.
- Cable de datos miniUSB incluído - de una longitud decente, no como el de mi Nokia XPress Music. ;)
- Es muuuy barato. Según el extracto de mi banco, pagué 14,54 $ por él - 12,99$ del reproductor + 1,55$ del envío (al cambio del día, en total 10,79 €). Mi Ipod Shuffle fue un regalo, pero por aquel entonces, el precio era de unos 50€.

PROS:

- Very small and lightweight; it's great for carrying it with you everywhere.
- Unlike other similar cheap models, this has in-built memory. Mine has 4 GB.
- Available in several colours (you can choose, default colour is red).
- Earphones included, 3.5mm jack. 3.5mm jack earphones are readily available.
- USB (mini type) data cable included - decent length, unlike my Nokia XPress Music, ;)
- Veeery cheap device. According to my bank statement, I paid $14,54 for it - 12,99 USD for the player itself + 1,55 USD in shipping (with the exchange rate that day, I paid a total of 10,79 EUR). My Ipod Shuffle was a gift, but price at the time here was around €50.




CONTRAS:

- La reproducción comienza nada más cambiar el selector a 'ON', lo que a lo mejor nos pega un pequeño susto.
- No vienen instrucciones de ningún tipo, por lo que el manejo es un poco 'ensayo/error'
- Los dibujos de 'avance/retroceso' están invertidos. El botón que lógicamente asociaríamos con una función, corresponde a la otra.
- Aunque los auriculares retráctiles incluidos no están mal, me pareció que se oía un poco mejor con los del Ipod, así que los aprovecharé mientras me sigan funcionando.

CONS:

- Music will begin to play right after changing the switch to 'ON', so you may get a small shock.
- No instructions for use whatsoever, so you'll have to practise some 'trial/error'.
- The 'forward/back' drawings/buttons are inverted, and therefore the button you'd expect to do one function performs the other.
- Although the retractable earphones are not bad, I thought the sound quality was better with my old Ipod ones, so I'll use those until they stop working.



Con todo, estoy muy contenta con mi nueva adquisición. Lo pagué el día 20 de noviembre y me llegó el 9 de diciembre, si mal no recuerdo.

All in all, I'm very pleased with my purchase. I made the payment on November 20th and it got here on December 9th, if I'm not mistaken.
